I am new to the practice of meditation and was looking for a book that describes some of the basics to get me started. Although this book is small,it describes some of the methods in good detail . I would recommend this book to anyone starting out meditation for the first time.
The advice provided here is a good guide for true beginners who need a primer on how to get started with meditation. The writing, however, did not strike me as very fluent, and there were a couple of strange grammatical choices that I found distracting.
A solid introduction to the art and science of meditation
One of my goals for 2025 is to understand meditation more. I meditate 5-10 min a day but I really desire to learn and practice more. This book does a good job of explaining the benefits and some techniques. I’d recommend it to anyone getting started.

I have been meditating for the last 6 months. I did not gain a lot of new insight from the first few chapters but the last few were very helpful. I have learned and will practice these new techniques!
For quite some time now, life has become increasingly hectic for practically everybody. Daily work, commute, shopping, paying bills, very little free time, to name but a few examples of how our stress levels rise. And as an additional consequence, health issues are also constantly on the rise due to our lifestyles.
These and several more examples are a very powerful reason to practice activities that can slow us down and make us take a pause from our daily schedule.
Therefore, I found Michael Dinuri's "Meditation for Beginners" an excellent book for learning how to start practicing meditation. Starting with the history and benefits of meditation, the book then provides a guide for preparing for and practicing meditation, both through short and simple techniques for when you don't have time, and a more profound mindfulness meditation.
It has all the key concepts to get you started with meditation, in an easy-to-read and straightforward way that makes it appealing.
