Saved by the bell! Devil Dinosaur goes to school. What could possibly go wrong? Moon Girl gets her game face on and is ready to take back what's been stolen from her! And the Killer Folk up their street cred!
Showdown between Lunella, The Devil Dinosaur, and The Killer Folk.
Lunella is not only an incredibly bright girl, but she's an incredibly bright girl with the Inhuman gene and a secret laboratory at her school. A secret laboratory at a school is cool, but not as amazing as one at your house. Dexter 1, Lunella 0. It makes perfect sense that Lunella is terrified of the terrigen mist cloud because some people with the Inhuman gene become equipment like Eldrac the door or others can no longer breath oxygen like Triton. Terrigenesis is no joke.
Moon Girl and The Devil Dinosaur has spread one issues worth of storyline over three issues and anyone who has ever made a peanut butter sandwich knows you can only spread stuff so far. I'm somewhat interested, but the story hasn't really gone anywhere yet.
Poor Lunella! Just as she escapes the dinosaur, she is kidnapped by the Killer Folk! What poor luck, however things turn out okay and she may even be able to be in people's good books by the next issue! It was cool to have a cameo of the hulk, so I'll look forward to possibly seeing him some more in future issues, as well as other characters. One thing I didn't get was the quotes at the beginning... Maybe I'm missing the connection, but I don't see the point of them. More happened in this issue, but still not enough for me to warrent giving it higher than a 3 stars!
So far I love this series. Lunella is a little brainiac spit fire and I adore her! But I'll be honest that I have to remind myself that Lunella is only 9 years old and that its perfectly natural that a 9 year old would be terrified of the terrigen mist and becoming Inhuman. I mean if it were me I would be on the first plane to NYC and I would run into the mist without a glance back! But I'm weird so I have to keep her story in perspective. And as horrible as this will sound I'm kind of hoping she doesn't succeed cause I would love to see her and Medusa interact! AND KAMALA! So many different opportunities!
Yes, this story is taking a bit of time to actually get anywhere that seems like it might be relevant, but meanwhile you get to read about a girl who has a burgeoning and begrudging friendship with a dinosaur, which is more cute than anything. If you want something that at this point just gives you a cute story, this is great. If you are looking for substance, it might come, but it isn't here yet.
I just want to take Lunella in my pocket and protect her. I would totally get on board with having Devil as a a friend too. Their relationship is so cute.
We don't learn anything new about Lunella in this issue but it does a good job further establishing her personality and little quirks. Hulk shows up at the end so I'm excited to see what kind of relationship will be built between the two in the next issue. I'm hoping she'll finally get a mentor that will challenge her!
