Filming Keesha's pet ant for a science project fair, the students in Ms. Frizzle's class take a journey into the lives of ants during which they learn about the ant community.
Fiction with non-fiction information. k-4. This Magic School Bus doesn't disappoint. Wacky teacher, Miss Frizzle and her students go on another adventure and learn about the science behind the life of ants. They explore the amazing underground world. Kids love to learn through these adventures and so do I.
Cute little story about ants. Describing the different types of ants, and what ants have what jobs. This book has nice illustrations and facts about ants, and keeps young ones interested by having the main characters shrink down to ant size to learn about ants.
We really love the series. This book doesn't have all the cartoony dialouge asides that the earlier books have. There are maybe a comment or two per page instead of full conversations. Some people hate that; I think I prefer it. The page is less busy.
These books clearly explain a certain topic. There are often additional activities at the end of the book for further learning.
We read these for 'fun' during picture book time and we read them when learning about a certain subject.
Most of the books have movies which correspond. We've enjoyed those as well.
This book is about a teacher named Mrs. Frizzle who has a magic school bus that takes her class on field trips about the topic they are yet to study; therefore, she teaches along the way.
In this story/book they talk about ants and their habits and how they survive each seasonal seasons, very recommend to children of all ages. It not only informs the child but it takes him/her on a adventuress jounrey. I think it brings imaginary concepts to their minds, to further the childs need for learning.
Our girls love the Magic School Bus series, both the TV and book versions. This was a TV tie-in book adaptation to one of the shows that our girls had seen before, so they were very familiar with the story. They really like these books and I like that they are fun and educational, mixing up a fictional field trip with real scientific discovery. I've noticed that in these books "the Frizz" doesn't say her normal catchline, "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!" We love it when she says that on the show!
I love the Magic School Bus books. I've read quite a few over the years. Legomeister loved them a couple of years ago. He still checks them out sometimes, but he doesn't ask me to read them to him anymore. Now it's Little Miss who requests them.
This one's ok; I kind of like how they learn all about the ant colony.
The Magic School Bus series does a great job of making information on a subject accessible to young readers -- keeping it funny, and light, and educational -- without talking down to them or preaching to them. It's a talent. My six-year-old son WANTS to read this book about ants, and I don't mind re-reading it to him.
Ms. Frizzle and her gang of students shrink themselves to bug size to make an epic movie staring... ANTS! The director struggles to find the perfect ant to be the star of the show and in the end the kids learn that all the ants are stars because they have to work together to survive.
Nice illustrations - fun and silly will educational.
I enjoy all the Magic School Bus books because they are a fun way to intergrade many different lessons with literacy. This series of books is great to have in the classroom library, because so many students enjoy them.
This is a great book for a science lesson. If you are doing a lesson on insects, you can highlight ants and take a closer look at this insect. Also, this book is a great resource to have in the classroom.
Ms. Frizzle and the class are learning more about a social animal, the ant. They go on a field trip inside of an ant hill in order to learn more about how the social order of the ant works.
My son loves this book and asks for it to be read fairly often, perhaps because it takes a while to read. The comic book style speech bubbles can be omitted when reading it as a bedtime story in low light, or added back in for lap storytime.
