Time to tackle the bunny slope! Shake to help Bunny make it snow, tilt to help Bunny ski down the slope, and turn to help Bunny escape a cliff in his path. Is there any obstacle Bunny can't conquer? Bringing grins and guffaws with each turn of the page, readers will find Claudia Rueda's innovative bookmaking as entertaining as the twists and turns of a ski slope—and as satisfying as a cozy cup of hot cocoa.
Claudia Rueda is a Colombian picture book author, New York Times Best Seller illustrator and a 2016 Hans Christian Andersen and Astrid Lindgren award nominee. Her books have been published throughout North America, Europe and Asia and have been translated into more than ten different languages.
Bunny really wants to go skiing, but needs some help from his young readers in this interactive story. First of all, there is no snow, so Bunny asks his readers to shake the book to make it snow. Then, he needs the book tilted so he can ski downhill. Finally, everything is perfect, that is, Bunny even manages to avoid a hole in the ground, well, the first one, anyway. The second hole catches Bunny by surprise, but there's an even bigger surprise when he lands in his own bunny hole and his mom has a nice cup of hot cocoa waiting for him - all's well that ends well. Kids will enjoy helping Bunny with his ski day, shaking, tilting, and turning the book around and around. The simple digital and charcoal illustrations in a palette of snow white and icy blue with a touch of red add charm to the story, especially give Bunny's sweet face.
I’m surprised this book doesn’t have a higher rating. It has things for the kids to do to the book and my boys LOVED it. They immediately asked to read over again the second I finished, which they don’t do often at all.
Cute and clever, BUNNY SLOPES has a lot going for it.
For one there is the cute artwork. But more than that I like the chatty, conversational tone that draws kids in. Bunny talks directly to them and even asks kids to interact with the book to help out with the day on the slopes.
Children are asked to shake and tap and turn the book to help Bunny out with a day on the slopes.
WRITTEN at the beginning 1st Grade level (Lexile: 360L), BUNNY SLOPES should appeal to younger children too. 183 words.
Wearing a bright red scarf, Bunny is ready to tackle the bunny slopes. Bunny slopes are those beginner hills where new skiers learn to ride the hill, take turns, and eventually stop—without falling, tumbling, or crashing. But there is one problem and Bunny needs your help.
The bunny slope needs snow. You can help make snow for the bunny slope. Simply pick up the book and shake it back-and-forth. Whoa . . . not too vigorously, you’ll make a blizzard. That’s better, a nice light falling snow. Now Bunny can take to the slope. Ready?
Bunny is at the top of the hill. Help him ride it down to the bottom by tilting the book to the right. There he goes. Tilt right, left, right, left . . . Bunny is smiling. He is having so much fu—TURN‼
No-no-no-no-no TURN!
OOMPH!
Well, who put that . . .

This is a fanatic book for story time. Fans of Rueda's Here Comes Santa Cat (and Cat's other stories), have a whole new character to fall in love with. Like Cat's stories, Bunny's story is one that makes for a memorable story time, with plenty of laughter. This one book we'd recommend picking up!
Read this book with my 2 year old niece and she was so amazed that she was able to help the bunny ski, her favourite part was having to shake the book to bring the snow (but not too much).
Illustrations were simple but told the whole story. A great interactive book that everyone will enjoy.
In Bunny Slopes, a cute little bunny has a big problem (and then smaller ones to follow), when he initially can’t find any snow to go ski on. The only way he can solve this dilemma, is if he gets hands-on help from the readers.
Once he gets his snow (by having the readers shake the book), he also needs them to tilt, tap or turn it so that he can ski down the bunny slopes.
This interactive picture book is perfect! The illustrations are beautifully simple and clear, and the story is cute, fuzzy and creative. It’s become a big favorite or ours during snowy days.
A fun book that you have to read from all angles which adds to the fun. Bunny skis and has accidents and recovers.
* Talking Points: Do you like to snow ski? Water ski? Cross country ski? While skiing did you ever fall down or bump into anything? Was it a small or big bump? Did it change how you like skiing or not?
** Essential Oil Pairing Tips: Whether you are going on a ski break or wanting something new to diffuse while reading this book, try diffusing 3 drops of doTERRA's Lavender, 2 drops Bergamot and 2 drops Sandalwood - you'll love the relaxation the aroma brings!
Bunny wants to go skiing but needs YOUR help to get things going.
A cute and promising premise and I found myself grinning for 2/3 of the book. Then it just stopped and so did my smile. I found myself confused and wanting, no, needing more. I felt that there needed to be a few more reader tricks to be done with/for the bunny. Maybe it would have been better to have the reader’s help more equally spaced throughout the book? I dunno. It left me… disappointed after starting to think of ways I would be able to use this book in one of my specialized movement story times.
Bunny's ready to hit the slopes but there's no snow! With his first invitation to the audience, Bunny asks the reader to shake the book to create some snow. Another fun addition to circle time and storytime. I especially liked flipping the book back and forth as Bunny fell through the air--and Bunny's determination to go over the jump one more time.

This interactive book has come off the shelf quite a few times. Who wouldn't love this cute bunny? And the opportunity to help Bunny hit the slopes is irresistible. While reading we get to SHAKE the book to make it snow, TILT the book to get Bunny started, and TURN the book to keep Bunny from sliding off a cliff. At the end of Bunny's run there is a mug of hot chocolate waiting in his mama's kitchen. No wonder the grands wanted chocolate milk when we were done reading.
A great interactive book akin to Tap the Magic Tree where you invite kids to pat, turn, and touch the pages to help a little bunny ski down a hill. There is a also a fun addition of holes in a few pages with a surprise result. Fun snow time read.
This was a book that was recommended on several winter book lists. To be completely honest, I was skeptical of it... until I read it to my son. He pretty much had it memorized within the first couple of readings and we read it multiple times a day during the time we had it from the library. This went on his wishlist.
