The Destiny Formula: Find Your Purpose. Overcome Your Fear of Failure. Use Your Natural Talents And Strengths To Build A Successful Life. by Ayodeji Awosika is a book everyone should read. We all need to know what we are supposed to be doing. There is more to life than living your life according to someone else's wishes. We can't choose a profession or study what our parents tell us. I never told my children what they would do with their lives. I always said, do what makes you happy or what you are called to do. Do what you think you are supposed to do. That is why my son is working on his Doctorate of Ministry degree. Ayodeji Awosika says the same thing and tells us in his book that we all need a push or a guide to follow our dreams or figure out what we are meant to do. He provides us with the information needed to find out what we should be doing and how to get on this path.
In his book, he shows us that we don't have to be stuck with our current lives. He shows us how to get past our paralysis and get on track to live the life or our dreams. We don't dream of that life for nothing. Is it our destiny to follow these dreams? He shows us how to find our calling, create a plan, and turn these dreams into reality.
Find your path, listen to yourself and your dreams, find your strengths and natural talents (we all have talents even if we don't think so or know what they are), and find the approach that works for you. Mr. Awosika gives you several approaches to choose from. He also tells us that one of the most important things we can do is to dedicate ourselves to life-long learning. He describes the levels of learning and talks about how the most successful people are those who have an insatiable desire to learn. I could go on and on about what he teaches us in this book.
This book is a very powerful resource in helping you to reach your dream goals and make the life you want and are supposed to be living. I recommend this book to anyone who questions their current path. If you have decided to follow your dreams and need a push out of the procrastination mode, this is the book for you. If you need help in finding your destiny, this is the book for you. If you just want to grow, and be better at what you are doing, read this book. This is a short book packed with a lot of helpful guidance. Find your path and your strengths and follow your dreams. It takes a long time to become an expert at anything, so I suggest you get this book and find out where to start and get on the right path for you. It is a book I needed to read, and one I need to follow.
I normally stay away from books like this. You may ask why and I will tell you, the books are too wordy, too mouthy, they are all over the place giving out weird advice and they are confusing.
This little gem is less than 100 pages and it meat, potatoes, vitamins and minerals. I actually understood this book especially since I am going through somethings at the moment. I am finally working towards my purpose and destiny, for too long I have languished away in jobs and places bemoaning and miserable. The fear of being who I always needed to be kept me on the sidelines while I watched others fulfill their purposes but I have to tell you the change within me started this past September, I didn't know how it was going to get done but I started. I enrolled in a special course and although I was scared witless (still am if truth is to be told) I am more happy now than I have ever been. And then in December I was notified along with a host of other people that we were being laid off the end of January (I am officially unemployed) and I have to tell you that news didn't rock me, it excited me by spurring me on towards my destiny. I was actually celebrating LOL!!! Now don't get me wrong, I have had my bouts of anxiety, worry about paying my bills, my tuition (for my destiny program I am currently in). But you know "GOD TOLD ME FEAR NOT, FEAR NOT, FEAR NOT"!!!!!
I started this book this morning and like I stated it is less than 100 pages but you will glean so, so much from it. It is definitely a book I will reread (again and again). Things that I should have started I will be able to do, things I have let slide to the back burner because I was in a job that I hated, the joy I feel of no longer having to go back there causes me to shout all day long LOLL!!! The cloud that was over my head, the boulders that were on my shoulders everything is gone Woot! Woot! And this book came to me right on time, I had it for a while but it wasn't meant for me to read until I left that job. This book was so crystal clear for me and the clarity was 20/20 vision.
I highly recommend this book because the author gives it to you in a clear and precise way. There is no confusion, no hidden agenda, no over the top nonsense just excellent steps to help you start and embrace what your true life calling is.
I like Ayodeji's blogs and loved his first book You 2.0 but this was a huge miss for me. I couldn't get through a single page. It felt as though it was written just for the sake of being written. No substance what-so-ever. I'm far from being a writer but I feel as though I could write something similar within a day or two.
"So you want to stop being bad at life and like get better? Well, you've come to the right place! Just do the things that I'm going to tell you and like you'll see for yourself how easy it can be to find you way in life. Just do shit that you want to do when you were a kid and try hard".
Ayodeji, I find your other writings extremely and helpful but this piece just seems to be a rushed money-maker to fund your next trip to Thailand.
This is the result of a great research, intelligence, life experience and writing skills. Clean, organized and concise writing that leads you to understand everything on the first read, and the content itself is very solid. If you put in practice what you read in this book, you surely have all you need to live a successful life. It is a book to favorite and keep! 5 stars all the way!
At 78 this book recharged my desire to do and be all the untapped works still to be accomplished in my life. It is never too late to celebrate your destiny
I love this book written by Ayodeji, not forgetting the key points he made mentioned of like discovering your strength, destiny, the sculpture approach etc, well done.
This book came highly recommended and since I'm sort of at a cross roads I decided to give it a try. It was not a waste of time and I think I garnered some insights but it was also a bit disappointing.
First the pluses: * it's a very fast paced, well structured, fast read. Finished it in two evenings, which is almost unheard of for me. * the author is obviously very passionate about what he writes. * It does give the reader motivation to go out there and "do stuff". * The insights in this book are nothing new. A lot of the points raised by the author are things I have thought about and was aware of, but he puts everything nicely in one package that makes more sense and just validates what one has been thinking already.
Minuses: * The book is very wordy and could probably still be shorter without loosing any of the substance. * The book is a bit light on substance. The ideas in it are great but, "do what you love and (the money will follow) you'll be happy and have a great, satisfying life" doesn't quite help you get there. * The author never explained exactly how to go from the "things we love do to as children" to how to figure out what to do for life. For some people it may be obvious (if you played with rockets and loved math and physics) but that formula didn't quite work for me. If I take the things I loved to do (drawing horses, obsessing about horses, reading science fiction books, getting lost alone in nature for hours at a time, well, I'm just not sure how to get something I could do with my life from now on... * The author promises the reader to "teach them many things". He actually uses the words "In this chapter I will teach you..." quite often. BUT, he never really does. He just says, "do this" and "do that"! Telling someone to do something is not teaching them to do that. If you don't know how to "do something", you can't just "do it". Telling a person who is afraid to take a risky step to "embrace your fear and just do it" does not help that person nor does it show them how to actually do it. This is where the book totally failed for me.
As it turns out from his book, this creation is one of the first steps on a new journey of his, namely becoming a great writer. I have to admit that it is a very nice first step, keep working on it, but this is not yet a masterpiece.
I do not really recommend this book, I felt that none of the content is based on the author's experience but on what he read and what he believes being valid without seeing the end results of trying them, so not much added value.
Except a few gems that he gathered most of it is shallow, the content is not outstanding nor the way he unfolds it.
I am interested in books on purpose at the moment and I wasn't sure if this book would add anything new but I learned a lot. I loved the stories about flea research and also comparing talent versus work ethic in basketballers. I like being reminded that : “People who are obstinate about their destination aren’t busy; they’re purposeful.” I liked the argument that life should NOT be balanced. To sum up, this is not an ordinary self-help book. Highly recommended. You will get something out of this one.
a very motivating book, a must-read if you're confused about what path you should take/ If you're torn between staying at your comfort zone or taking a leap of faith and do the thing that you loved the most
Not a bad first book! But could have used more structure. More actions. And less repetition. Also, I could have used more resources or science, otherwise it just sounds like someone just spouting off things they’ve read. Don’t stop writing. You’ll get there. Thanks for the inspiration.
It reads like a big-ass Medium article about self-improvement, but not a bad one though. Sure, it mostly consists of simplistic motivational speeches, but sometimes it's exactly what I need.
