Hello!
Thank you for stopping by.
The short story is I was born in Toronto, Canada. When I was 16, my family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and that is where I met my wife, Bev.
We've been married for 43 years and share our home in Southwest Missouri with 4 dogs, 3 cats, 8 chickens, a herd of goats. We have 3 sons and 12 grandchildren that keep us hopping.
I've been known to ride my motorcycle in nice weather, play golf in nice weather, and tend my garden in nice weather. In bad weather, I prefer to stay inside. :)
Thanks to the support of you, our readers, I've been able to devote full time to my writing. Bev does our cover designs.
We hope you our books are enjoyable and you'll let us know.
Please feel free to contact us at: jdalglish7@gmail.com or on Facebook
God Bless, John & Bev

The main reason I didn't like this book is the unoriginal plot and the way it was told. I couldn't have been more bored while grinding through this story. When I say uninteresting, it's even more than that because I could foresee what was coming a mile in advance. Add to that there was no depth to the characters at all - not with the detectives, nor with the victims or perpetrators; they all felt like cardboard personas. Take Detective Eva Hernandez; on the one hand she's a true professional, if we have to believe what her colleague thinks of her, but on the other hand she starts crying every time she's confronted with a victim. In my opinion, that's not very professional.
Let me just say that when I searched for a police procedural story, I expected so much more. I will not read any of those Dalglish books, ever again. It's a waste of my time, while there are so many other good stories waiting.

Nice little crime story, clean and slick. Nothing revolutionary for the genre, but the plot is concise and the characters fulfil their roles well.
A perfect audiobook for commuting.

Two teens discover something horrifying. Detective Eva Hernandez is assigned the case.

I love this series because it's always clean and the plot is engaging. The characters were those who I could relate to, at least the good ones. The bad ones, not so much. But then if one identified with the criminals, does that make them a con?

The action stayed constant and the tension revved up as the story progressed. Most definitely a five-star read.

Sadly, this book is too true to life. Young girls just wanting to reach out and have a fun exciting time in a cool place...like Miami. Unfortunately, these girls thought that Gabby's uncle Javier would help them with jobs and places to stay in beautiful fun Miami. He found them jobs alright in prostitution. The difference between real life than fiction is that these girls had families that were looking for them and that they were found alive. Human trafficking is on the rise and most are not found alive and given a chance at life again.

Miami Homicide: (City Murders #2 by John C Dalglish)

Meet two detectives who try to solve two strange murders, young ladies with no apparent ties to the area where their bodies were discovered in the Miami area. That trail becomes very difficult to follow, but persistence pays off. Dalglish's writing style is not going to give anything away, so as you try to guess the outcome, keep turning pages and you'll find that the end will be surprising. Thanks for another great read.

Terrifying suspense.

A gruesome story of kidnapping, murder, and prostitution. Great characters and a terrifying story of a real world crime. As with all of Mr Dalglish's works I've read so far, this one will also keep you on the edge of your seat. Enjoy!

Bravo.

It was so nice to read a book that put Hispanics as the good guys. As a long time resident of Miami Beach it was very accurate in the telling of Miami locals. I look forward to the next one.

Nail Biting Suspense

The story is well written with a plot that sent goose bumps up my spine. I couldn't stop reading because it felt so real. Human trafficking is real and this story brought it to life. Author, nice job.

Pretty good.

Aside from a few grammatical errors, the story was very interesting. At times boring with not much action. It's was pretty good. Predictable. But interesting!!!

Like other entries in Dalglish’s ‘Homicide’ series, this one is billed as ‘Clean Suspense’ – one with no gratuitous sex, violence, or swearing. They make a refreshing break from the bed-hopping characters, in-your-face brutality, and foul language on every page that seems to be the norm today.

It’s one of the best books I’ve read in some time.

Dalglish has a low level of tension on every page. The reader wonders if Eva and Luis will get the search or arrest warrant they need in time, if the bad guy will have a slick way out, if there’s a mole in the police department. But Dalglish spares us the run-and-gun shoot-em-up scenes so common in many books and TV shows these days.

Dalglish also gives the reader enough of Miami to make it alive for the reader. He does the same for Eva with glimpses of her life away from the police department as she takes her daughter to school and Carnaval. This gives her character a little deeper three-dimensionality that is sometimes missing from books that only show the character’s life on the job.

I only have one gripe about this book (and it’s not really a gripe, just a comment): Almost all the characters, except for a few secondary ones, were Hispanic. Nothing against Latinos, and Miami probably has a large Hispanic population. But in this book, it’s as if only the tiniest fraction of Miami residents is non-Latino.

I’ll be back for more of this stand-alone series.

Chilling Crimes Against Women
This is the second book in a series that can be read in any order. These books are fairly clean, but this one does have some issues. There is no foul language, all sex is offscreen, and all of the violence is described in a PG-13 manner. But, there is a lot of physical and psychological violence and damage that is in the reader's face. This book could easily trigger women who have been abused, raped, or sold as sex slaves. This is not a small thing. There is also a glaring plot hole. One of the main characters begins the story with her last name being the same as her mother's married name. After her mother's death, it magically changes to her mother's maiden name which is the same last name as the bad guy. In fact, sharing that last name is integral to the cops catching the bad guys and freeing the women. That kind of plot hole should have never made it to the finished book or the name change should be explained. I was going to binge-read the series but I have changed my mind. This kind of story is not my cup of tea.

Because it’s a beautiful day

I enjoyed this novel mostly because you feel like you are there with the girls (victims) and then you feel like you are with the Detectives who truly care. The feeling you get while readings difficult to explain. I truly enjoyed the entire story! Godspeed

Simple but we'll written

Characters are well thought out as well as the storyline. Purely evil protagonists kidnap girls and put them into prostitution. If they do not cooperate, they could be beaten or worse. Two Miami detectives get the case of a young woman severely beaten to death and dumped on the beach. Little do the detectives know just how perverse this case can get!

Mesmerizing as always!

I five star books that are impossible to put down , and this fit the bill. His books are free of filth and nonsense with very likeable heros and heroines. I really appreciated the use of a strong young woman who persevered through extreme times of trial and came out the victor, for such is life.

This is a very good read. It is fast-paced; concisely edited, and clearly written. Much is made about books melding several plots together; and I sometimes enjoy complex stories like those. This plot was single-faceted and direct, and I enjoyed that about it. Short chapters; no side issues; relatively quick read — what’s not to like about that?

Review of: "Miami Homicide".

Once again author, John Dalglish has written a book you can't put down until you finish it. His characters become real and to say this is a good read just doesn't do it justice. And now, on to another in this series. I'll be checking in again in a few hours.

Short but well done. The content is rather heavy. There are themes in here that are no appropriate for all audience, but it is a homicide book.
This takes place as it states in Sunny Miami. A ring of prostitution and the girl's own uncle by blood.

A Good Novel

I read a lot of books. I enjoyed this one on many points. It had a very good story line, no typos, no bad language, and no explicit sex scenes. Such scenes are not needed by the better authors.

Miami

This author is so much like James Patterson in style. The facts of the legal system are great, the kindness involved is truthful. I am reading his 4th Noel now and enjoy his writings tremendously.

I gave this book 5 stars because the mystery is so good. It’s such a sad mystery and so true to what happens in life but definitely worth reading. I also like how it has two people talking because it gives you inside scoops from both sides, either the directive or Gabby.

A very evil man has been stopped

Another great novel, this second book in the series. Going for next book, I really like CSI/Detective stories. Three times will be the charge. I recommend this series for Law & Order, or police shows
