Impressively sexist in many ways for a book aspiring to be feminist in some way. Basically just 90s fantasy pulp I'll have forgotten in a week.

An enjoyable read. Cant agree with the comments everyone else has written. Mike writes the cultures incredibly and the startling differences between. Very good writing

When I bought this book I did not realize it had connections to Loremasters of Elundium, an intriguing one at that. This story begins in the kingdom of Gnarlsmyre, a place of swamps, strange beast and magic. Marrimian is the daughter to the king and is treated as a curse to him. He wanted a male heir to pass his kingship to but all he has is daughters. With a prophecy he has caused his kingdom to be bargain off to he who can touch the Glitterspike. There are many twist and turns to this tale that made it a delightful read.

Love, love, LOVE the worldbuilding-- the culture of the peoples are very concrete that you can easily picture their society, even the mundane details, in your mind. The only character I like, though, is Krann. Marrimian grates on my nerves too much. I preferred Yaloor, and that one other mudbeast brought by that Mertzork guy or somerthing.
