About the author

A veteran journalist and published author, Louis Chunovic has reported on the media industry for more than two decades, and during that time has covered national political conventions, media mergers and acquisitions and new media technologies.

Chunovic also is the former on-air Entertainment Reporter for KTTV, Fox Broadcasting, in Los Angeles. He has appeared on CNBC, CNN and NPR, as well as on many other television and radio outlets, and has been quoted by The New York Times and Congressional Quarterly, among others. He lives in the New York City area with his wife.

I loved the show. One of the slickest written, funniest series ever. I guess I was looking for some insight into what drove the creative writers behind the series. Mostly a fluffy, groupie, sort of book. The biographies of the actors were clipped and sterile. Few of them had any hardships in life. Elaine Miles story is interesting in that she never wanted to be an actress, but was cajoled into it by her Mom (who tried out for and was selected for the cast) and the casting agent who recognized her talent. "Chris in the morning", John Corbett, talks about some of his real life relatives and friends in his dialogues in the show. MOst of the cast were extremely talented and experienced actors when they got their parts. Very little was said about the town of Roslyn, Washington, where the exterior scenes were shot. I've visited it and the town's history is an epic mini-series in itself. For me, as a fan of the show, I had to read this book. If you've never seen the show, the book won't entertain or enlighten you as to what made it such along-running hit.

Great interviews, fun images! I didn't think this was an incredibly deep dive but it was fun to read and I did learn a bit more about the show. Important for the Northern Exposure fan in me!

Off the "to acquire" shelf, finally. Believe it or not, I've been checking the shelf at Half Price Books for literally years waiting for a copy of this book to appear. Today, it did, and at $3.99 was irresistible. Even as I thumbed through it and realized how crappy a book it was, the urge to end the hunger to acquire it had to be sated.

My edition is from 1993. I don't find it listed here on goodreads.
My edition has the Dr. with a moose on the cover. Anyway, this is a must have for fans of the series. One of the nicest companions to a series that I have ever seen. Great photos, interviews and stories.
