With Linus by her side, what could go wrong? Struggling to keep up with the Merry Band of Thieves is hard enough without factoring in all the different ways things could go wrong when Lucy attempts to unearth her long lost brother. Lucy Kincaid is about to find out how low Undraland can drag her as she tries to break the laplanding bond with Jamie. Through the Darklands and back into Fossegrim, Lucy stands with her husband as she risks it all to break Foss and his people free of the Depravity of Man curse. She knows in the end, she'll have to choose between what could be and what should be, but if she's not careful, fate will choose for her.

Umm wow I'm still reeling from the conclusion to the undraland saga. I've been eagerly reading each installment as fast as they are published since the very beginning when the author traded me a copy for an honest review. I can't thank her enough for introducing me to Lucy and her band of misfits as they have adventures, heartaches and discover they are all stronger than they ever thought possible they bring out the best in each other .
This book starts where the last one ends with Linus coming back to life! What what amazing finally Lucy is reunited with her other half and it's an emotional reunion cue the tears
I am sad for this series to end! The last book covers Lucy's journey to right some of the wrongs in Undraland. She now has her brother by her side and that creates a new element of comedy. Add the elf and Clara Barton and there is no stopping them. Lucy must finally decide who she wants to be with, Jens or Foss, and close the door that could take her in the other direction. I personally think there never was a choice. She's always known where she belonged and who she should be with. I am not sure how I started on this series but it is now one of my favorites. Thanks so much to Mary E. Twomey who takes the reader on an adventure to new lands full of excitement with characters they can embrace and absolutely adore. I loved the last line because it sums up my feelings about life and a good book: "Happy endings are a beautiful thing." They are so worth working for!
Mary you never disappoint. This series was every bit as good as the others I've red. I can't give it a higher rating although I would if I could. Thank you.
This is the last book of a series I powered through in a week. I never do that, so you know it's excellent (Well you should know..but you don't know me, so let's just assume we're friends).
There are parts of this book that I loved without question like Linus, Jamie & Britta, the happy ending (after I recovered from my personal feelings), and the fact that all the bad things were finally over and the story proved to really be a great adventure.
Heads up -- there's spoilers down below this point!Of course you're reading a review on book nine so you either read it..or you're looking for what I'm selling ;).
But I've got a problem.. and yes... I'm really dramatically upset over fictional characters.
Let's discuss Lucy/Foss/Jens for a minute:
Jens starts out sweet and perfect and of course handsome, while Foss is a hostile asshole with a curse (mind you, a curse..not an actual personality), but as time rolls on Jens makes some horrible mistakes that Lucy for some unknown reason forgives relatively quickly.. and she forgives Foss too so I'll just assume that's her thing.
But here's where my problem comes in... Lucy and Foss have a spark, not a comfort as she has with Jens.. there's heat to it.. it's good. As his curse is lessened you can see his actual personality shining through. And she doesn't cut him slack about not sharing his feelings publicly? Give him a break the man has been cursed! But Jens, he leaves her twice.. just straight up runs away and without warning. Foss doesn't leave her, ever.. and even with the bad things he's done can we please try to remember he's cursed?
And then there's the sirens.. please someone explain to me how she is captured and says her goodbyes to everyone, except Foss because it is too painful for her AND then comes out of there and is suddenly just done with Foss and ready to snuggle up and be with Jens forever? That makes me so sad/mad/overly emotional about fiction.
I get that the story needed an ending and it's a neatly wrapped package when you keep Jens.. lots of logistics with the other one that might muddle it up. I also see some of the reasons Jens was the chosen one but.. Foss just had such a pull on her heart and he didn't deserve to go out like that.. and I've read this through twice and I still can't wrap my head around how she's just over it one day.
The final thing that got me were the words.. And I knew I'd never see him again that little phrase ripped my heart out and just stomped it into a million pieces. I just can't accept the finality, the lack of even a glimmer of hope for him and her, and the fact that he's all the way back in Undraland, never to return or be heard from again...
I am quite dramatically too attached to these fictional people and I fell in love with them. It's an excellent read and despite my obvious qualms with some points and my heartache over the love story.. it was so good I can't even bring myself to move onto another story yet, because I'm not over this one.
oh fuck me. are you serious? what the ever loving fuck?!! no.
fuck this shit. wasted a week on this weak shit.
so almost nothing happens the first 80%, then like everything possible. linus is less interesting than jens. foss digresses, really? tucker becomes what jens should have been: loving, loyal, and platonic.
what a fucking stupid ending. the norse mythology was a slight effort, but the random words and names that were never explained was super annoying. tons are characters were barely realized. the different lands were barely explained.
the fantasy was better than twilight, but that's it. FFS. uuuuuuuuuugh. screw you! what a fucking waste of money! this bitch powers me like 30$!!!
Couldn't put it down, from beginning to end, was a little disappointed with how it ended with foss, and still curious, since lucys story has ended what about linus?...seems a continuation can be on its way?...Cross fingers, lucys been through enough and happy for all she's gone through she gets her version of a happy ending...beautifully written, funny, suspenseful. This is the first I've read of Mary E. Twoney, but will definitely download the others. You go girl keep them coming! :)
I've loved every part of this series, and the ending of this book completely melted my heart. Lucy became such an awesome character and woman, and I'm so glad that she and Jens got their happy ending!
A perfect ending to a traumatic series. This series is one you can't stop once you start. And it will pull your heart stings and have your life on hold while you're thrown into Undraland and getting acquainted with new friends and foes.
