Her first book in the series, “Marshall Visit’s the Hospital,” Marshall leads children around a sometimes scary world, showing them there’s nothing to be afraid of in instances of doctor visits or the possibilities of staying in a hospital. In subsequent books, Marshall will show there are responsibilities to be met as a contributor to the family: caring for pets, helping others, volunteering one’s time, and even accepting a new baby into the household. It is hoped that Marshall will teach children about their world in a fun and entertaining way. The reality is, they may at sometime need to protect themselves against strangers and bullies. Marshall is here to help build their self-confidence and not make them afraid to stand up for themselves.
Marshall, will also teach the importance of staying healthy and seeing the fun in fitness.
It is Linda’s hope that children from the ages three to eight can relate and benefit from Marshall and his friend’s experiences.
Her first in a series, MARSHALL VISITS the HOSPITAL, was published and released in October 2008. Linda has worked in childcare development and has been a teacher’s assistant to first graders. She has written several short stories, for Ben Romero’s book, CHICKEN FLUFF AND OTHER STUFF, and for author, Janice Stevens’ anthology, STORIES OF SERVICE. She is currently working on a history project for the Clovis Unified School District, to be published and released in 2009.

Read with my little niece Indigo in the car, with request for repeat reads. Don't be fooled though, no butterflies or caterpillars despite the cover :)

This was a very fun read for me and the kids (girl-7 and boy 9). It is the story of a little kitten exploring the world beyond her yard. I liked the way the pages would leave you in suspense as the curious little kitten would peek over to discover what was on the other side of the fence. My daughter said 5,000 stars but my son said 2 stars because I think he thinks he's getting too old for some of our silly bedtime story choices. I enjoyed it, it was a fun story to read and the illustrations went perfectly with the story so 5 stars.

This was the first book I remember being read to me. This was the first book I remember reading to someone. Thanks Mom and Dad for all the patient nights you spend reading to and listening to me read this book. See ... you make a cat lover out of me after all. I just remember laughing and laughing and laughing ... good times!

I think this is the book my mom read to me over and over and over, almost every night. She says she hid the book so she wouldn't have to read it to me any more.

Seems that curiosity doesn't kill the cat after all, and that which doesn't kill you just makes you curiouser and curiouser! The kitten in this first of a series is one such kitten, living in a back yard surrounded by three sides of wooden fence and one brick siding of a house. Such captivity will not do, and eventually the Kitten tries three times to explore other people's yards and is unsuccessful until the final try where she meets a kitten just like her in the yard next door. Linda Hayward may well have the book that makes her a star in kids lit. Here's to more Curious Kitty in future!

Sometimes being curious is all right.

This is a short and cute story about a little kitten. The narrative is simple, with only a couple of sentences on each page. And the illustrations are adorable. Our youngest picked up this book at a book exchange at her elementary school and she loves reading it to herself. We also enjoyed reading it together.

I don't know if it was the story or the way that my dad read the book to my two sisters and myself. His animation and spirit while reading really made the book a memorable experiences for three of us.

An adorable tale about a little kitten exploring beyond her own backyard. My kindergartener brought it home from his school's library and he's read it every evening for a week. He's a big fan of cats! I love the illustrations. So cute.
