This book was fairly familiar to me as it had a bit of overlap with my mother's upbringing. I suppose at a certain stage it would be insightful for my children, though I'd prefer to keep them a bit more sheltered from some of the romantic content, which is probably considered tame by most.

No real plot, but managed to keep my attention. It's about a young girl and the prejudices of South Africa.
