Amelia Moore, the founder of the Moore Detective Agency, specializes in missing persons. With the help of Rick Bonito, her new partner, her business is flourishing. When Amelia is hired to search for her client's grandparents, the case takes them to Ireland. Kate must learn about her heritage. Who are her grandparents and could they still be alive after all these years? Why did her parents leave Ireland suddenly and move to America? Is there more to this case than meets the eye?

The Shamrock Case by Linda Weaver Clarke is about finding family heritage and making new friends.
Can Amelia find Kate's family in Ireland? A lot has happened since the last book. Amelia and Rick have been dating off and on for a bit. Well, probably just a date here and there when they could schedule one in between their cases. Amelia is into solving this case for her newest client named Kate because she wants her to have the same type of relationship that Amelia had with her grandparents. I love this about Amelia's character as it shows a lot about who she is and how much family means to her. Rick is with Amelia helping to get to the bottom of what happened with this family.
These two, as love interests, are great, and I love how much they support each other. Rick is helping Amelia solve her cases even if he doesn't necessarily need to help her, but he likes being around Amelia. Amelia is the same way around Rick, but I am glad that Rick went with her to Ireland. Sometimes a woman does need a man around to help defend her.
The Case Instead of this being a mystery, even though it is but not really, it's a case. The case in this novel happens to be to help an eighteen-year-old girl find her family heritage. I can't say why she wants to find out about her heritage, but it's great. I love how Mrs. Clarke happens to use her great-grandfather to be Kate's father here. The case takes them to Ireland, where Amelia and Rick find out a lot about Kate's family, especially on her dad's side. I loved every minute of reading about their trip to Ireland, and I still want to visit this place.
Five Stars The Shamrock Case by Linda Weaver Clarke is a great little read about finding and reconnecting with lost family members. I have to say that I loved this book so much that I didn't want to put it down at certain times because of how much I loved it. Ms. Clarke weaved together another excellent case for Amelia and Rick. I can't wait to read about these two. I am giving this book five stars and recommending it.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

There is much that I enjoyed about this simple, sweet, mystery romance. It is a quick and easy read. Amelia and Rick's quest to locate their client's grandparents was an interesting story and it had an unexpected twist at the end. The story is set in Ireland and the author did a lovely job of writing about it. The characters have an almost childlike appreciation of all the sights, tastes and sounds they experience during their visit. You almost feel like you are on the tourist trail with them. Rick and Amelia make a cute pair and their romance blossoms a little bit more during their trip here. There are a few humorous scenes as Amelia keeps forgetting her raincoat and they have to brave the weather together. I felt like telling her to get a mini umbrella for her handbag! Although the pair enjoyed the folk music in the pub they didn't get to experience true Irish traditional music and dance. After all Danny Boy is only a hundred years old. I think the couple would have had tremendous fun at a céilí dance. There is less suspense in The Shamrock Case compared to their first adventure in The Bali Mystery but fans of the series should enjoy it no less.
There are a few things that I would edit if revisions were ever being made. We don't have ranches here in Ireland. They are simply called farms. We also don't have vacations. We go on holidays or come home on holidays. The currency in Ireland is the Euro and not Pounds. The Pound is the currency of England. We don't refer to Ireland's many rebellions and struggle for independence as religious wars. Our political history and relationship with England is much more complex than this.
There is the inevitable stereotyping that goes on when writing about Ireland. Everyone is very religious. One of the characters is a wealthy horse breeder. All the characters speak with a 'thick Irish brogue' and on their first day in Ireland Amelia is the subject of harassment from two drunk men.
The mystery surrounding the couple who eloped to America just didn't ring true to something that would happen in modern Ireland but rather something that would happen in the nineteenth century. I know that the author was inspired by events that occurred in her own family and those events happened in the 1800s. I would have updated the story a little bit to tie in with a modern Ireland that has moved away from the religiosity and stranglehold that the Catholic Church had on this country for generations.
I was a little confused about the religious background of the characters. Kate's father was Catholic. Her mother's records were found in the Anglican church but both abandoned their Catholic faith to join an unnamed new religion. Did she convert to Catholicism when she married? I found this a bit confusing. It would have made more sense for the family to have fallen out because a Catholic was marrying a Protestant. This would have been more realistic for the time period especially if the location was Northern Ireland, instead of County Cork, placing them in the middle of The Troubles.
Amelia and Rick were excited to try Irish food. I found it strange when Rick excitedly announced that for his first Irish dish he wanted corned beef and cabbage. I've never eaten this. I don't know anyone who eats it and I've never seen it on menus either. It doesn't sound like a culinary delight. But I don't live in the touristy areas that Rick and Amelia visited. A little Google search cleared it up for me and I found a couple of interesting links about food and Irish emigrants in America.
(4.5 stars) I enjoyed this second book a little bit more than the first one in this series! Amelia and Rick are working together again and this adventure takes them to Ireland. Kate has recently learned she was adopted and that her birth parents both died shortly after she was born. She wants to search for her biological grandparents so Amelia and Rick head to Ireland.
I'm enjoying getting to know more about Amelia and I love Amelia and Rick's relationship. They're so different which makes their interactions fun to read. Their Bucket Lists come into the story again and they are still determined to learn what the other one is hiding. Rick and Amelia get closer in this book. I love the business arrangement they came up with and I'm excited to see where they go from here in future installments!
Again, I love how the author gives descriptions without being too wordy. I felt like I was in Ireland and enjoyed going sightseeing with Rick and Amelia. I enjoyed the mystery and how it unfolded. There's a creepy guy who adds an element of danger. I especially enjoyed the unexpected twist at the end. I loved how a heartbreaking situation turned into one with lots of hope! At the end, the Author's Notes states that she wrote a book about finding our heritage because it's a subject that's dear to her heart and I feel like that came through in her writing. This is a series I will definitely continue reading and reviewing!
I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.
Clarke brings the lushness of Ireland to life through her intricate descriptions and wonderful storytelling. This picturesque backdrop is the perfect setting for Clarke`s warm and captivating tale. The characters were enchanting, and the plot held me captive throughout. I throughout enjoyed getting into this mystery. It was loads of fun unravelling it all. At the same time, Clarke made me feel as if I were part of it all.
I thoroughly enjoyed how often these characters ate and what they had. It made this working vacation so real for me. It’s also so intrinsic to who these two are. Amelia`s constant penchant for Rick`s appetite was so cute. I also love the depths and hidden aspects of Rick’s character. He was so much more than I’d originally thought he would be. I couldn`t get enough of him.
As far as narrators go, Lehman was a fantastic choice for this novel (and series). She really brings the characters to life. I’ve enjoyed each novel I’ve heard her narrate, but she really blew this one out of the park.
This novel was even more fun than its predecessor. I can’t wait to head off to Mexico with these two!
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
One day I'd like to visit Ireland just for some of the towns and sights mentioned in this book! The author paints a picture of the country (or at least the parts mentioned) which allowed me to imagine the people and towns in my mind. I liked how many of the homes/businesses were painted brighter colors - or at least a couple that Amelia and Rick visited.
In the first book (Bali Mystery), Amelia and Rick have discovered they are interested in each other. However, Amelia has a firm rule about not being involved with anyone she works with because it could get dicey if things went south. That changes a little bit in this book as a relationship grows and it forces Amelia into reconsidering her working relationship with Rick.
This mystery has her looking for relatives of a young woman, Kate, that discovers she was adopted. There are a few other surprises at the end, but one you can probably figure out as it gets closer and Amelia is tightlipped about what might be more than they expected when first taking the case. There is a little bit of danger to Amelia during her search for Kate's family, but nothing that she and Rick can't handle.
I do wish that Amelia wouldn't have kept Rick in the dark about what she thought the bigger mystery was, after all, they are working more as partners than employer/employee. Perhaps she will be more forthcoming in future books.
4 Star Review The Shamrock Case (Amelia Moore Detective Series #2) by Linda Weaver Clarke
AUDIO REVIEW:
I liked the main characters of Amelia Moore and Rick Bonito and the obvious chemistry that lies between them. Although a stand alone, I would suggest you listen to these in order as the relationship between Amelia and Rick grows. Again narrated by Diane Lehman who did a good job with all the character voices.
This time they are off to Ireland with a new case to solve searching for Kate’s grandparents. This was a book filled with secrets and the intrigue, suspense, twists and turns satisfied my inner detective.
I love how through their cases, they tick off items on their bucket lists. It was also interesting to watch the push and pull of the relationship both business and personal between Amelia and a Rick.
Amelia and Rick are on another case that takes them to Ireland. Such vivid descriptions - Ireland is one country I really want to visit - on my bucket list. Romance, mystery, secrets revealed and a little danger are all taking place in this book. I loved this book everything about it including the narrator. Great voice and incredible talent in switching characters. I listened to this book on audible. Definitely a re listen.
A cute romantic detective story set in Ireland. Amanda Moore has been hired by an eighteen year old girl, (Kate, who has just learned that she was adopted), to find her family in Ireland. Her parents adopted her when she was a newborn and they want Kate learn about her family and meet them if possible. Amanda and her sometimes helper, Rick Benito set off to investigate. They decide that while digging up Kate’s relatives they will both create a bucket list of places to visit when they have downtime. Amanda hopes that she can indeed connect Kate with her heritage, and at the same time she and Rick, can learn more about Ireland, and that little spark of romance between them.
A sweet and entertaining cozy mystery set in IRELAND!
Rick held the clover in his hand. He looked at it and twirled it between his fingers as he said, "I'm calling this the Shamrock Case from now on. I love what it represents."
THE SHAMROCK CASE by Linda Weaver Clarke is a very sweet cozy mystery. This is the second book in the author's Amelia Moore Detective Series, but it can be easily enjoyed as a standalone if that is your preference. Just be aware that there are two primary characters who feature prominently across all the books in the series. The author fills in any needed information from the previous book as the story progresses, but, if it is read as a standalone, the reader will miss the progression of the couple's romance.
This particular installment is set almost entirely in Ireland and, as in the previous book which was mostly set in Bali, the locale plays a large part in the story. After listening to the first two books in this series, each has made me feel that I'm on tour in the region where each tale occurred. I have always wanted to visit Ireland and the author's writing vividly paints each scene so I feel as if I'm really there.
As the story opens, our heroine, Ms. Amelia Moore, meets with a young lady who wants to find her grandparents and to learn more about her Irish heritage. Amelia's prospective client has recently learned she was adopted and that her birth parents both died shortly after she was born. Amelia accepts the case and enlists the services of Rick Bonito, to accompany her to Ireland and assist. Amelia and Rick are good friends but each is strongly attracted to the other, so it's exciting to watch their friendship evolve as they work on each assignment together. Please know that their romance isn't on the heat scale - there's no hanky panky - only some dreamy kisses. But, it fits perfectly with the characters and the story and is quite endearing.
Of course, in Ireland, when Amelia and Rick aren't working on the case, they indulge in sightseeing and knocking off more of each of their bucket lists. For instance, this time around, I learned things about the Blarney Stone that I didn't know and felt like I was the one kissing it! AND so much more!!!! Their dining choices had my stomach growling. I enjoy romance and fairy tales so I delighted in the author's added references to fairy tales in this book. Rick fits the mold of a gallant knight hook, line and sinker. Secondary characters were a colorful lot that added to both the sense of being in Ireland and also to the light mystery.
The narrator, Diane Lehman, excelled again. She also narrated the first book. Her voice was clear and her Irish brogue sounded genuine. Her male and female voices were differentiated and I loved her singing voice as she sang Irish ballads. I would not hesitate to pick up another book that she has performed.
If you enjoy clean, entertaining romances with a bit of a mystery that won't leave you biting you nails and with a strong travel guide feel, you really need to check out this series. I can't wait to see how Amelia's and Rick's relationship develops in the next book! THE MISSING HEIR will be taking readers to Mexico! Hola Amigos!
Suggested Reading Order: Amelia Moore Detective Series THE BALI MYSTERY (Book #1) THE SHAMROCK CASE (Book #2) THE MISSING HEIR (Book #3) THE MYSTERIOUS DOLL (Book #4) HER LOST LOVE (Book #5) MYSTERY ON THE BAYOU (Book #6)
Amelia Moore is back with a brand new case for the Moore Detective Agency. Amelia’s heart breaks for Kate, a teenager who just learns that she had been adopted. Although the young woman loves her adoptive parents, she wants to find out more about her heritage and if she has any relatives. All she knows is that her parents left Ireland suddenly, moved to America and were never heard from again. Kate wants to know what happened and where she came from.
The search takes Amelia to Ireland but she’s not alone. She calls her partner, Rick Bonito to assist her on this case. Their investigation leads them on a voyage to Ireland where they uncover family secrets and face a few dangerous situations along the way. Their only mission is to bring Kate all the answers she so strongly desires.
There's also a secondary romantic story between our hero and heroine. The couple gets closer and closer as they travel through Ireland. Amelia and Rick have the makings of being a lasting couple that readers will adore and root for.
Linda Weaver Clarke writes sweet romances and mysteries. This story and series is a combination of both. There is no gore, violence or sex in these books. It isn’t about finding out “whodunit” as there are no murders, it’s a journey to unravel a mystery and give some peace of mind to good people. It's a nice and interesting change of pace for me.
The author paints a vivid picture of the beauty of Ireland. It’s like being on a tour. I feel as if I just returned from a trip to Ireland myself. I could easily see the greenery and magnificence of the country. With each book, Clarke introduces us to another exotic location. She definitely does her homework before she writes about these places. The last book was set in Bali and her descriptions were perfect. Her description of Ireland was no different. Clarke knows both her characters and locations well and it shines through each word she writes.
The Shamrock Case moves along quickly. It goes by way too fast and I’m already missing the characters. The next book is going to take us to Mexico and I can’t wait.
FTC Disclosure: The author provided me with a copy of this book to review. This did not influence my thoughts and opinions in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
Amelia Moore is back on the job and headed to Ireland along with her trusted employee Rick Bonito. This smitten duo is hired by a young woman in search of long lost family and during their investigation Amelia and Rick encounter unsavory characters, amazing historical sights, breathtaking scenery and hearty delectable food.
On the whole "The Shamrock Case" is quite good and Linda Weaver Clarke is able to write a pleasant story with nice, wholesome characters. She appears to have researched points-of-interest for travelers and I really like the descriptions of places visited by our detective team. I must admit though it's not quite as intriguing as her first book because it's really less of a mystery than a cozy romance. The genealogy twist did give additional interest as Ireland is known to have some of the best kept family records available to heritage seekers.
Diane Lehman gave another great performance in this audio version although a few times near the end a few of the voices melded together just a wee bit as if she may have misplaced the voice attributed to a character. One aspect of her narrations that I enjoy is that she gives each of the author's characters the perfect lively and sincere qualities that bring them to reality for the listener. Diane even sang a few times and can hold her own beautifully. She narrates these books nicely and is a pleasure to listen to.
The story is charming and simple plus it provides a sort of guide for would-be travelers to the great country of Ireland, and once again I have added a new place to visit on my bucket list. I hope you enjoy "The Shamrock Case" and find a little Irish luck along the way.
This audiobook was provided to me by Linda Weaver Clarke and Audible in exchange for a fair and honest review which I have given. Thank you, and I wish both women continued success.
Amelia Moore is at it again, this time in Ireland! Kate was adopted and wants to learn more about her birth relatives. She hires Amelia to find them for her. Amelia is a great detective and with the help of Rick, her partner, she is able to uncover Kate's heritage...and more. I loved the twist to the story. I loved the way real facts and locations were detailed in the story--I never knew so much about the Blarney Stone and it was fascinating!
Amelia is an enjoyable character. She's not a superhero, but she has a real knack for solving mysteries. She is a normal, down-to-earth woman, which is refreshing. I love seeing the romance between Rick and Amelia slowly unfold. He's a great guy who can hold his own and is full of surprises.
This is a fun, gentle, entertaining, without all the gore and violence, series--so much fun!
I received this from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the second in a cozy mystery/romance series In this story Amelia and Rick are traipsing all over Ireland in search of a clients grandparents. Observations and descriptions of the countryside and people were interesting and created great atmosphere to the story. As the detectives relationship continues to grow Amelia finally seems ready to let go of her reservations and explore her relationship with Rick. The easy banter between the two made the story easy to read and I flew through this novel. The romance is so sweet and clean I would feel comfortable recommending this to mother to read. That's something you don't run across much anymore. I only reserve one star from my review because I still can't stand the lack of contractions. Especially as I was listening to the story I found it very jarring.
This book was a second in the Amelia Moore detective series. I really enjoyed this lighthearted cozy mystery and the adventure it took me on. The book took part mostly in Ireland where the main characters Amelia Moore and her partner Rick Benito are in search for Kate’s biological family, who is Amelia’s new client. The two detectives are very cute with their bucket lists and get to mark off a lot of the items on their down time while they are there, a la kissing The Blarney Stone. Amelia and Rick get to travel all over looking for Kate’s family but also run into some not so great people from Kate’s parents past. We also get to see a little more of Amelia and Rick’s relationship flourish.
The Shamrock Case is the second book in the Amelia Moore Detective Series and is enjoyable. The characters are likable and they travel to interesting places on their cases. In The Shamrock Case, they go to Ireland to find their client Kate's grandparents and relatives. Kate's parents left Ireland suddenly and she wants to know why. Amelia and her partner and boyfriend Rick are also involved with a stolen doll. The characters and mystery are interesting. I had both the audiobook and the ebook. The audiobook overall is good. The narrator has a nice voice but is a little stilted and her male voices aren't easy to distinguish from the female voices at times. The mystery is good and kept me guessing. I received an audiobook from Linda Weaver Clarke for an honest review. The opinions are my own. #TheShamrockCase #AmeliaMooreDetectiveSeries
This has got to be one of the more wholesome series of books I listen to. It is nice to have some lightness and happy endings after reading very dark books and this book series does that for me. I like both Amelia and Rick.
The mysteries in these books are interesting but not overly complex or dark. The author does not lean on suspense or have a lot of unneeded drama to drag the book down. She gives the characters down time from the case so we can get to them know and also see how the relationship and chemistry with Rick and Amelia develops.
It was nice to see the author not drag out the will they/won’t they across multiple books when the setup in book one was there.
This was on a recommended romance list - UGH! Sappy, contrived story line. Who edited this book? Please check the details. . . Dublin uses Euro not pounds; flights to Ireland usually leave the US in the evening and land I. Shannon or Dublin (not Cork, a much smaller airport); few people in Ireland are practicing Catholics (this book makes it sound like everyone in Ireland is a daily communicant in the Catholic Church). These details are distracting!
A great mystery Amelia and Rick get a case to find family. There are twists and turns to this mystery that had me hooked from the first page to the last. It had me on the edge of my seat. The story building is fantastic as well as the Character building, if you are a lover of mysteries this is definitely one I loved this is the second read in the series. Shauna Joesten
Amelia and her partner Rick take on a job of locating Kate's grandparents. They find themselves in Ireland. |f you love mysteries this is definitely one. There are twists and turns to this mystery.
I received an audiobook copy of this book on audible from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was really excited to listen to this because I had listened to the previous book in this series and really enjoyed it.
n The Shamrock Case we follow Amelia and Rick to Ireland where Amelia has been hired to track down the family of a young girl who had been adopted when she was a child. Of course when they get there they learn that there is more to the case than just making contact with her relatives. A whole lot of drama ensues with just a tinge of danger and romance.
I ended up giving The Shamrock Case four stars. I loved picking up right where we left off with Amelia and Rick, both in their new case and also in their relationship. I always like seeing how they go about investigating their cases and love that the cases always take them to really great locations especially this one: Ireland. I love the setting for this cozy mystery. I thought it was really fitting and it's somewhere that I have always dreamed of going and listening to this made me feel like I had spent some time there. I liked hearing about the castle and the pub, I thought the author did a great job of bringing the setting to life.
I was happy that we not only got a new storyline to explore but also we got to see their bucket lists come into play again, which was also a really big part of the first story and is a pretty big vehicle for the romance plot line in these stories. I love the way it is featured in this one.
Although I definitely enjoyed this one, so far my favorite is the first one. I am excited to hear that there is also another upcoming book in this series with another mystery for Amelia and Rick to solve together. I feel like the first had a bigger element of danger to it and I missed that a little in this one although there definitely was a bit of danger to this one as well. One thing I loved returning to was the flirtatious back and forth between Rick and Amelia. It always makes for a good time. Just like in the first one I thought the narrator did a really good job with this story. I loved the different voices she used for each character and for her narration. It made following the story really easy and fun. The audiobook was a little over four hours of listening time so it actually went by pretty fast!
If you love cozy mysteries, especially ones with a female detective lead, you may enjoy this one.
My Review: "The Shamrock Case" by Linda Weaver Clarke gets five stars from me. It is the second in the Amelia Moore Detective Series. I liked this book but it wasn't as exciting as the first in the series, if you want to read my review of the "The Bali Mystery" here is the link: http://debbieloseanything.blogspot.co... In "The Shamrock Case" Amelia and Rick travel to Ireland and though they are working they get to mark more items off their bucket list. And their romance takes a new twist. Their client Kate learns that she is adopted and wants to finds her grandparents and learn the truth of who she really is and why her parents moved to America. This book is full of details about the land and food of Ireland! Some of the scenes descriptions were so full I could almost picture them in my mind! It was fun to travel with Amelia and Rick as they traveled from place to place to find Kate's grandparents and other relatives and to find out about the past! It was also fun to vacation in Ireland with them! There was a secret that Amelia thought she figured out but she wouldn't tell Rick tell she was sure. She wouldn't find out till the end of the book. This story makes this reader believe in " Fairytales and Happy Endings" I know you are saying what? Read the book and then you will know what I mean and believe too" ! The author included a dictionary of some Irish terms at the back of the books! The author also explains what she wrote about finding Kate's heritage. I am eagerly awaiting the third story in this series "The Missing Heir" .This story is going to take us to Mexico! But before I can travel to Mexico, other stories are waiting for me. ( a little humor, hope you all don't mind, lol) TFTC Disclosure: The author provided me with a copy of this book to review. This did not influence my thoughts and opinions in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
The Shamrock Case by Linda Weaver Clarke is another fun cozy mystery with a hint of romance and a wee bit of adventure. It is well written with great dialog that flows naturally. This book is the second story in the Amelia Moore Detective Series, which revolves around a detective agency that specializes in missing persons. In this story, Amelia is hired by Kate, a client who was adopted and who desires to learn more about her birth family. She seeks Amelia’s services because both of her parents died shortly after she was born.
As in the first Amelia Moore book, The Bali Mystery, Amelia seeks the assistance of Rick Bonito to help investigate. Besides uncovering Kate's heritage in Ireland and locating her grandparents and other extended family, Rick and Amelia had the opportunity to enjoy some sightseeing, which thankfully was detailed to perfection. They visited and toured a couple of castles, they heard real Irishmen signing in a traditional Irish pub, and they kissed the Blarney Stone! As a bonus, the relationship between Amelia and Rick developed into something more than mere friendship and Rick officially becomes Amelia business partner.
I listened to the Audible version of this audiobook narrated by Diane Lehman. Her narration was good with varying voices for each character. I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest unbiased review. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this story immensely and intend to listen to the next book in the series once it comes out in audio.
It's a read I'll listen to again and again when I need something light hearted but want lots of mystery and a bit of peril. I think it's awesome that Amelia gets to travel so widely for her job, although I'm certain now Rick won't let her go anywhere without him, as she accidentally gets into major peril more than once. Their sweet relationship finally came together once Amelia worked through some personal issues, and it hardly affected their job at all. If anything because they trusted each other they were stronger because of being together.
That aside let's get to the exciting part. I haven't been to Ireland, so getting to explore it with Amelia from my sofa was fun. The descriptions made it easy to imagine the scenery they explored while delving into family history and reunited a family who grew apart through life events out of their control (mostly, although some of the reasons involve certain members losing control). I still giggle at the thought of the majorly cranky receptionist - Amelia certainly isn't always a people person!! I did see why she objected so strongly to certain things but I'd have just done as I was asked. Guess that was my favourite part of the book, but I love all of it and am looking forward to relistening to this fun tale.
When you read a book, you do it to escape your life for a while and relax. Linda Weaver Clarke does that and a whole lot more. She takes you on an unbelieveable journey.
The Shamrock Case, the second book in the Amelia Moore Detective Series, finds Amelia and her assistant, Rick, taking on another interesting case. An adopted 18 year-old wants to learn more about her heritage but she has very little to go with. Amelia is drawn to Kate and her story and wants to do everything she can to help her.
As in The Bali Case, the first book in the series, the case takes Amelia and Rick on an adventure. This time they are heading to Ireland to the known towns where Kate's parents lived before moving to Canada then the States.
You will get so swept up in Linda Weaver Clarke's writing that you will fell the rain as it soaks Amelia and Rick, you will smell the aroma of all the flowers all around, and wish you could taste the real Irish food that Rick loves to devour.
Not only are The Moore Detective Series books mysteries but they also have a growing love story. You will get to witness the relationship between Amelia and Rick grow and develop.
There is so much more I could say about The Shamrock Case and Linda Weaver Clarke but I don't want to tell you everything and also I feel a bit jetlagged. After all I just returned from Ireland.
I liked that this one wasn't about "catching the bad guy" but about helping a girl find her family. This is a good clean, sweet and fun mystery with a little romance on the side.
I love how Amelia and Rick work together. They are a great team! I am getting quite attached to these two. Amelia has good instincts when it comes to what she does best - detective work. And Rick is great at what he does best - protecting and loving Amelia! I like how this series is very slowly building their relationship.
I love all the talk and descriptions about the food and Rick's love of it! It's cute. Linda has done a great job with the character development and keeping up the personalities throughout the books. Also , equally important is how some of the themes are traveling through the series - the bucket lists, their budding romance etc. Each book is a nice continuation of their lives but also each book could be read alone with no problem.
If you would like a nice sweet romantic cozy mystery - you should try one of the books in this series. I also think these books would be good for a teenager. They are clean and interesting enough to keep your attention.
The Audio - I thought the reader did a great job with all the different accents! She is definitely a talented reader.
Thank you Linda for sending me this Audio copy of your book for my honest review!
The Shamrock Case is about the most gentle, easy going mystery that I've ever read. Cozy is a great word to describe it. To me, this book felt less like an actual mystery and more like a family history discovery trip to Ireland. Amelia takes along her hunky, handsome (can do no wrong, knight in shining armor, rescuer of small children) partner, Rick. It's all set up like the perfect vacation.
For me, this book was sweet and clean. There was nothing to get worked up about at all. I enjoyed reading it but was never invested emotionally. I was missing that depth and richness that pull me in as a reader and make me a part of the book. The story was told in a very straight forward manner. I wanted to be wrapped up in growing tension and swirling feelings but I didn't get that. However, this was a good book. It was a simple story, easy to read and had a happily ever after ending. And did I mention it was clean? I really appreciated that.
This is the second book in the Amelia Moore Detective Series. I haven't read the first book but I didn't feel like was missing too much picking up the second book to begin with. The main events from the first books were mentioned in this book and I felt up to speed.
Amelia Moore and Rick Bonito our on a new case together. Amelia has a client who wants to find her birth mothers parents who are in Ireland. After doing a paper on her heritage it has her wanting to know more about where she came from and hopes to find some new family members.
Amelia and Rick go on the search and find out a lot about Kate's mother and father. Why they had to leave Ireland in a hurry, etc. Along the way they meet Art a nasty character from Kate's mothers past and he is still on the search for Katherine and wants to know where she is and he follows them around. It's a good thing Amelia has Rick to ward him off.
The Shamrock Case was a great story about finding your heritage and these stories are light mystery and not like most cozies as there was no murder, but just a search to find a young girls family. Even without the murder I still really enjoyed this case and can't wait to see where the next case takes Amelia and Rick.
I also enjoyed the romance that is blooming between Amelia and Rick. They are great characters and complement each other well. Rick sounds very dreamy and Amelia is a go getter when it comes to solving her cases.
If you like cozy mysteries that are not based on murder then you will enjoy this story.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are 100% my own. The beginning is wonderful, a real grabber, starts out with a child who has found out she’s adopted cause both her birth parents are deceased wants Amelia to go looking for her Grand Parents so she can get a better understanding of how her parents use to be. Now that’s the start, as the story goes on you see Rick obsession with food get deeper as does Rick and Amelia’s attraction to each. All done in a very PG manner. We see Rick being a very polite and caring person. Someone who would put his girl (bird) first. We also learn a lot about Ireland and their customs and how strong their belief I religion is, and how far they are willing to go for their religion. As Amelia goes about interviewing all the different relatives we see that they’ve now come to their senses and would like bygones to be bygones. How they regret their harsh behavior. And how they let history repeat itself. In the end we are awarded to a really great surprise. I also enjoyed the banter that Amelia and Rick have about their ‘bucket lists’. Which is a real laugh. All in all, this is a really sweet cozy romance with a mysterious twist to it, and I’d love to read more of Linda Weaver Clarke’s books.
This was another sweet and cute mystery detective book in the Amelia Moore Detective Series. Though I think you could read this book without having read the first in the series, I appreciated seeing how the relationship between the two lead characters develops, seeing the continuation of the theme of the "bucket list," and getting to know the characters develop. This is a very clean book - no foul language or sex scenes, which I appreciate. I liked the setting, which takes place in Ireland, and hearing about the different things to do there, as the main characters were visiting many "tourist attractions" to check off items on their respective bucket lists. There is also a twist at the end, which I loved, and it just made the whole story even better. I listened to the Audible audiobook and enjoyed the narration. The narrator has good pacing and differentiates between the characters well. If you are looking for a nice, clean book, and you like mystery and travel, I suggest giving this book (or this series) a try.
