Azaeli Hammerfel has been named a knight, and is thrilled to be on her first true quest alongside her parents' guild. Their journey to see Prince Eron and his expecting wife safely to Lake Kordelya is shrouded with a sense of impending doom that tests the strength of His Majesty's Elite and the love that Azi and Rian, the Mage, share. When Kythshire's fairies find themselves a target of the same threat, an unlikely champion presents himself.

Tib Nullen has had a hard life. He's just twelve years old, but as a field slave in the Sorcerer-run country of Sunteri, he has seen more toil, loss, and cruelty than anyone should be made to endure. When tragedy strikes his family, Tib finds himself flung into a plot much bigger than he. In his struggle to make sense of his thoughts, which he fears are not fully his own, he learns he has a greater purpose: to help restore the Wellspring of Sunteri.

Sorcery, Dreamwalking, Necromancy, and mystery fill the plot of Call of Sunteri, the second book of the Keepers of the Wellsprings series by Missy Sheldrake.

Missy Sheldrake is an epic daydreamer and a muse of positivity who weaves worlds full of character-driven, complex fantasy adventures.

In 2014 she dusted off an unfinished Tassy Walden Award-winning manuscript from her college days, started writing her first novel, Call of Kythshire, and never looked back. In four short years, she completed the five-book Keepers of the Wellsprings series, an epic high-fantasy young adult adventure that was awarded the Golden Squirrel Independent Book Award in 2017 for Best Fantasy.

When she isn't writing, Missy can be found creating fantastical artworks in paint and clay, wandering hidden forest paths, and concocting plots for imaginary people who are beyond real to her. She loves to hear from her readers, so feel free to drop her a line!

Call of Sunteri continues with the same great characters with the addition of a few cool ones: Tib a twelve-year-old boy who shows more strength and courage than you would expect at such a young age and his friend, Mevyn, who is also new to the story. Quite the character that one…I couldn't decide if I liked him or if I wanted to smack him hard.

While I adored the first book, it took me a while to decide to read this one. I have read so many high fantasy books in the past that, for some reasons, it makes me hesitate to read more. I shouldn't have. As soon as I started it, it pulled me right in. I love the author's voice and her way of telling the story.

Ms. Sheldrake's imagination seems to have no end. Her worlds are complex yet described in a subtle manner through the eyes of her characters. I also love the way she uses the different classes in combat, from the bards using song to invigorate fighters, and mages for protection or powerful attacks, to the weapon wielders and the rogue who coats his weapons with potions. She seems to have thought about everything.

And if that isn't enough, add drawings of scenes here and there through-out the book for the readers' delight.

Amazing! I didn't realized when I began reading that this was the second book in the trilogy. I didn't read the first, but the author described it beautifully. The backstory was told without going overboard and the story itself...wow. I loved them all right from the beginning. The world is fascinating and yet again, beautifully described. I recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy. It is SO worth your time!

Oh, I love this series.
The first book was a great forerunner to this one.

Call of Sunteri is filled with magical action.
I love how you are kept guessing about Mevyn's intentions, and Valenor; wow!
But I don't want to spoil anything.

I was totally immersed in the magical world Missy Sheldrake creates. It's just fascinating.
Wonderfully written.

I've downloaded the next book already, and will read when I next have some 'free choice' book time.

I hadn't initially intended to continue this series, after reading the first one. But after taking a break, I found myself still thinking of the characters... And so, although a bit too "cutesy" for my tastes, I decided to come back to them anyway. These books are well written and entertaining, even if lacking in depth of thought.

I read the first book earlier this year and loved it. It's been a few months so I was a little confused when this one started. I didn't know where I was or who the character was. The weird whispering in his head I was also like, what is that?! But that one was explained and I got to be like HA, I knew it!

Anyway, it took me a bit to get into this because I had been looking forward to getting back with the two MC's from the first book and was antsy that it took awhile. Also, there's a huge difference in reading a book from two 17 year old's pov and then picking up a book that spends a good portion of the time in the pov of a 12 year old.

I did grow to love Tib though and after the first pov switch to Azi and then back to Tib, I was engaged with his story as well. I don't know if it was because a lot of the book was in Tib's pov or if it was just the writing, but I actually ended up not enjoying Azi/Rian's half of the story as much as I did in the first book. Oddly enough, it was 12 year old Tib's story I enjoyed the most!

I loved the plot of this and the story was super engaging. I wish I could've felt that same connection with Azi and Rian, but even though it didn't click as much I still really enjoyed them. Also Sheldrake did a good job of making the pov of a 12 year old not so immature as to feel like I was switching between a YA story and an MG one. And it fit him. Tib's been through a lot so it made sense that his voice would be older.

I ended up wanting to stab that stupid little Merlin. Ugh! He made me so mad! I wanted to snatch Tib and start running. Stop messing with the poor boy's head!!!

Hmm, uh, other than that I'd have to say that I was ready to get all mad when it looked like there'd be a love triangle and then BAM there wasn't one. HA! I hate love triangles and one of the reasons I loved the first book was the refreshing love story between Azi and Rian. I was all ready to be upset about the introduction of that stupid love triangle junk, but it was all a trick. I was happy that was cleared up quickly and explained!

I can't wait to read the next one!

I read this book after purchasing the paperback set. I did this because I admire the artwork that these books feature on their covers, and I felt that the Kindle versions don't always do them justice.

I had already read the first book of the series and wanted to see how the characters progressed in the second book. Very often, a sequel is not as enjoyable as the first book, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find that this story was even better than the first book, which I had thoroughly enjoyed. The characters were carried through into this book and new ones were introduced that added further dimensions to the story that drew me in, making it very difficult for me to put the book down. This was one of those delightful books that found me saying, "Just one more page." into the wee hours of the night.

One of the new characters that I liked was Tib, who seemed to be a petulant young man angry at the world and the things that have happened to him. An interesting character at the start, it was fun to watch him develop into the very different person that he became at the end of the story. This brought to my mind the way Ms. Sheldrake handled her main characters Azi and Rian in the first book, as they, too, grew and became very different people by the end of the story. The author handles these transfigurations deftly and makes the trip from the beginning to the end a fun experience.

I look forward to reading the third installment in the series soon and seeing what takes place in the world that the author has created, which is rich with magic, faeries, sorcerers, and even a dragon. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the fantasy genre.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and considered it a superior effort, particularly for a debut novel, but the sequel rises to a higher level. The characters have grown and matured, and so has the author’s writing. The story is richer, the pacing is improved, and while lighthearted moments remain, the action is portrayed in a deeper and more gripping manner.

As with the previous book, the narrative style is first-person, present-tense. I commented in my review of that book that while that style worked, it did not seem entirely necessary. That is not the case in “Call of Sunteri.” Here the narrative style comes into its own, immersing the reader more fully and forging a stronger connection with the narrator.

There are, in fact, two narrators, but this was handled adroitly and I did not experience any confusion: the characters were quite distinct and their individual plots lines are nicely interwoven, keeping my interest throughout.

On the whole, this is a stronger effort than the first book, and I think readers who enjoyed the first book are in for a treat with this one. I will continue to follow this series.

I was so lucky to have read Call of Sunteri along with the author, Missy Sheldrake and with a wonderful group that discussed it chapter to chapter.
This is the second installment in Keepers of the Wellsprings series and introduces us to new characters, namely Tib, which is one of the main POV’s. On the other hand, we keep on following the Guild of His Majesty’s Elite and their new quest. We also keep having Azi’s POV (The main POV from Call of Kythshire, which is book one in the series)
There are a lot of revelations and more insights into the magical world of the Wellsprings. There’s also a new and powerful antagonist.
With all of these “ingredients”, you have a great fantasy book that you just can’t miss!
I definitely recommend listening to the audiobook, for it allows a richer reading experience!

This book is book two in The Keeper of the Wellsprings series and definitely five out of five stars! My favorite characters were back along with new ones to love. I did not know how I felt about Tib in the beginning but as the book went on and we learned more about him and why he did things the way he did I just loved him. There was so much action from start to finish that you become hooked (As if you were not already) and refuse to put it down. This is my favorite fantasy series. Flit still happens to be my favorite. She is just so funny. The whole situation with the dreamwalker gave me Sleeping Beauty vibes. If you take a lesson out of this book it is that fighting for what you believe in and love may be a hard long journey but worth it in the end. Never give up. I cannot wait to read the next book and see what happens next

This started off slow(not the plot so much as the amount of time it took me to engage) because I was anticipating getting launched back in with Azi and Rian. I was like, "Who is this? Where are we? How is this connected to the last book?"

But once I was engaged, it was good. I really enjoyed the new character of Tib. I wanted to strangle Merlin. *wrings the fairy's neck* Both plots were interesting and kept me turning pages and I'm excited to read the next book.

Call of Sunteti

Epic, Epic, Epic, wow what an incredible book, story and entry to a fantasy realm. This has movie possibilities written all over it. Magnificent writing, adventure with good and evil and some that are in between the two. Dark forces and forces of light. It simply doesn't get any better.

Really enjoyed it. Only a few times, and then only briefly, did I feel like I might be missing something important from not having read first. Would definitely read more of the series. 4 star

I loved the first book, and again Sheldrake captures my complete attention by the 50-60% mark making it so hard to put down. Her devious design of switching back and forth between two storylines is extremely effective in keeping me reading well past the time I should have been doing something else (working, sleeping, eating, telling my wife and children I love them). I enjoyed seeing the group from the first book back in action, and loved the addition of Tib. Books three and four are already in my Kindle library, and I will be returning to the world of knights, mages, and fairies very soon.

I may be a bit different from the other reviewers because I really enjoyed the first book. However, I did not enjoy the second book as much. I am planning to go back and re-read them both soon, so my opinion may change. But the second book felt a bit more scattered and focused much less on plot and story and more on the development of characters. Hence this felt much more like a character novel and much less like a true sequel to the first.

Missy Sheldrake's wonderful magic continues in this second book of the Keepers of the Wellsprings series.

'Call of Sunteri' has multiple narrators whose stories and perspectives blend seamlessly to tell the tale of the Sunteri fae and their struggle to survive, alongside the continued story of Azaeli Hammerfel and her companions as they seek truth and justice in the face of the powers of evil.

So vivid and compelling is the storytelling that the reader is fully engaged in the action as it unfolds, with a strong sensation of being confronted with questions about personal integrity and the nature of truth alongside the characters. There are some absolute heart-in-your-throat moments, and some that fill the reader with dread.

The ability to conjure such powerful effects on the reader is a true sign of masterful writing.

'Call of Sunteri' delivers action, magic and quest by the bucketload in this book. I can't wait to finish reading the whole magnificent series.

Call of Sunteri continues the story about Azi, Rian and the rest of the Elite. With some added characters along the way. The Dreamwalker manages to cause a lot more trouble but with a couple new characters, they are able to fight his hold. This series is one of the best I have ever read. I am ready to start book 3 now. Can't wait to see what happens to them next.
