Inspired by the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery, Anne with an E utilizes poetry to explore the life and intimacies of an alternate Anne. Although the setting, time, and characters remain in the universe of the original series, Anne with an E explores gender, abuse, and homosexuality in this original portrayal of a beloved character and "kindred spirit."
Anne with an E is an Anne of Green Gables-inspired chapbook with an edge. The collection isn’t at all predictable – the poems are both gritty and bold, but Bratten managed to give enough nods to L.M. Montgomery’s work to please just about any reader.
Anne is a very girl smart and bright who has been through a lot and has never received moral education from parents that she always needed in her life. She lives in an orphanage. Anne has never had actual parents who had permanently loved her for who she is. Although she has spend her life with different families who treat her poorly she feels as if she has never felt being loved.
i loved the netflix series anne with an e so of course i had to read the books,
i adored the characters and the dialogue was so real, there were several times i was positive i was IN. THE. BOOK.
there is many reasons this book is a timeless classic but, the only reason it is at four stars is i couldn't really find a PLOT, just several subplots, but i don't know, just my opinion.
It was nice listening to this book before sleeping. It filled my heart with joy. But I think it would be a little boring to read it since it resembles kids' books.
Guys this is so COOL I love this book , and I think am gonna buy all the 7 books ! , but when Matheo died , I was so so sad I cried so hard like his my father..

About: Anne with an E is a poetry collection that was written by April Michelle Bratten and published in 2015. The collection is inspired by Anne of Green Gables and while there are references to beloved characters and events, the thoughts and feelings in this collection are from a different, more complex Anne.
Did I Like It?: I really liked this collection! I am a huge Anne of Green Gables and L.M. Montgomery fan and I have read almost all of her books and I have read the Anne series multiple times. Being such a fan, I was instantly drawn to this collection and I will say that it did not disappoint. The thoughts and feelings of the Anne in this collection were unexpected, but delightfully so. The poems in this collection were bold, sensual, clever and lyrical. I really like what Bratten did with these poems and am interested to check out what else she has written.
Favorite Poems: Some of my absolute favorite poems in this collection were What Do You Think of When You Think of Diana?, Anne’s Sadness, Gil, Ruby, Sucked In, and Love is all we ever had (and it was always enough). Some honorable mentions that I really enjoyed as well were The Winter of Anne, Matthew, a Conch Shell, To Write a Letter When There is Too Much to Say, Marilla is a Mueseum, If You Don’t Know by Now, You Never Will, and The Fall of Anne. I liked all the other poems as well though. There was not one poem that I didn’t like. Quite a lovely little collection!
Do I Recommend It?: Most Definitely! If you are an Anne of Green Gables fan than this is a must read! I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if you haven’t read Anne of Green Gables though, as you might not be able to appreciate it.
You wanna have a good comapny? or enjoy your time for about one hour? Read this ''wonderful '' book !As Anne said. So it's a short story about a kind, poetic and friendly girl who had a red hair. and the part that affect me in this book is when Mariilla saw Anne in Barry's arms she was afraid and said '' i love Anne very much, i know that now''. So i wanna tell you please go to those you love and let them know that you love them 💖.
My name is Anne with an E but can you call me Cordelia?
The introduction got me hooked with the simple conversation which peaks my curiousity as to why she wanted to be called Cordelia when her name is Anne.
