You can’t beat the devil unless you play his game.

I have no idea what I just read.
I'm pretty sure every single character in this book is completely and utterly screwed up.
I'm also pretty sure that I liked that more than I should have.
It was like an urban soap opera.
It was like (a hotter) book version of Empire.
I was ready to chuck my damn kindle at the wall with that ending.
I'm read to commit some sort of a sin to get my grabby little hands on the next book.
I'm going to go calm my tits now....

Oh you want a review, do you? Well then! Let me try to give you a semblance of one here.

So this book was...*scratches head*
A romance? *scratches chin*
A soap opera with some crazy drama, music, crazy as hell characters, multiple POVs of said crazy as hell characters, and some hot sex. *nods head*
Yes. That about sums it up.

The story centers around the Devil's Music record label. Once upon a time, Delilah Bishop was set to inherit her father's legacy, her beloved label. But a betrayal from the people she least expected ripped it all away from her. But she's back and she wants revenge and she'll spare no one in her way; not her past best friends. They are, after all, the ones running her label now.

Dante Bishop walked away from everything after he buried his father. He wanted no part of the label or the toxicity that came from the backstabbing life style it called for. That was his sister's thing. Never his. Having his heart broken by the woman he thought he'd spend the rest of his life with only solidified his decision. But now opportunity has come knocking and he's forced to come back into the lion's den to help save the label and possibly get Delilah her legacy back. It also gives him the opportunity to get his revenge on the woman he once loved, Delilah's ex-best friend and current COO of Devil's Music.

Would I call this a romance? Not at the heart of it. There was so much MORE going on. The romance was certainly there but it wasn't the focus for me, more like the cherry on the top. Lisa Marie Perry weaves a hell of a twisted tale here and it definitely sucked this reader in. The story is complex and multi-layered. So much so that it took me almost half the book to really get my head around ALL of it. Because there was A LOT. It was seriously like watching a super hot episode of Empire. It was completely different from anything I've read in the past and that hit the spot just right.

Add in the complex relationship between Chelsea and Dante and I was in hate lust heaven. There are a few more interweaving story lines that flow along with theirs and I'm practically salivating to get their stories.

As for that ending? Well, let's just say if I don't get the next book in my grabby little hands soon, I just may have to cut someone.

What in the ever loving?? Look. Do yourself a favor and IGNORE THIS COVER. It does NOT do this book justice. If you like intrigue, suspense, sex and a story that reads like a script, then GET THIS BOOK! I've never read this author before and that my friends, is a travesty! My friend Geri, The Racy Lit Reader,  told me to read this. She forced me. She told me I needed to and that it was an addictive read. When someone is that passionate about a book, take heed.

I am going to keep this brief because I do not want to spoil one second of this book for anyone who wants to read it.

As the blurb suggests, this is the first book in a series of  "stylish, addictive novels of passion, drama, and seduction. The high-powered men and women behind Devil’s Music have made their fortunes building the hottest label in hip-hop, but it’s the action behind the scenes that’s seriously steamy."

Are you intrigued? You should be. There is a cast of characters, all of whom have an integral part in this series. You learn to love and hate each of them, even love to hate them. From the hot, sexy, protective Dante' to the fiery, spirited Alexis, you will be drawn to them. You will want their stories. AND OH MY WORD, you will want need the next book immediately.

This is my new crack. My newest addiction. I am craving my next fix ... Burn with Me (The Devil's Music, #2) by Lisa Marie Perry

Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. I knew within the first couple of pages that I was definitely not the right audience for this one. Think Dallas...set in the music industry. Drama, fighting and nastiness mixed in with infidelity, drugs and take-overs.

Just a little TOO promiscuous and sinful for me ;)

No rating as I did not finish the book.

Sin for Me (The Devil’s Music #1) by Lisa Marie Perry
3.5 stars!!!

“You can’t beat the devil if you don’t play his game.”

This book is what I call “car crash reading.” Drama, drama, drama, drama and some more drama, but hell it was addictive. This was one of those books where you knew you should give up the ghost because these characters were all seriously fucked up. I mean, there was not one “normal” person in this book. If this is what the music industry does to people, why the hell would you work there?

But, in all honesty, I couldn’t put this book down. Marriage is definitely not a sacred vow, anyone is game no matter where they are sitting or currently are, back stabbing is rife and considered the norm, friendships mean absolutely nothing and family ties are stretched to their limits. Everyone in this book was toxic in one way or another and if you were under the Devil’s Music umbrella you became toxic too. The walls bled poison and this poison was extremely potent.

“Transparency’s a luxury in the entertainment industry…”

Devil’s Music is a record label steeped in history and the majority shareholding was left to Delilah Bishop after the death of her father. Delilah lived and breathed Devil’s Music, it was her baby, what she lived for, until those closest to her did the unthinkable and took it away from her. Delilah went downhill fast, but now back on her feet, she is out for revenge and she is taking no prisoners.

Dante Bishop is Delilah’s brother, he walked away from Devil’s Music while he still had a chance. The company had drained him dry both physically and emotionally and the icing on the cake was the demise of his relationship with Chelsea, the current COO of Devil’s Music. She betrayed him in the worse possible way and he still hasn’t gotten over it, or her. His sister now wants what it is rightfully hers and she is asking him to go back into the lion’s den all in the name of revenge, both hers and his.

“There’s no line to straddle. You’re either on her side or mine. And…I’ve got no one but you. This isn’t just about business. It’s about family. So be sure you’re good with the consequences on reneging on me for that bitch.”

Sin for Me is like a soap opera with a slim picking of a second chance romance. You need to keep your wits about you as Lisa Marie Perry hits you from all angles with sexual relations, jealousy, under hand dealings, huge ego’s and a failing music label. Loyalties are tested, deals are made but can you take anyone at face value? Does everyone have a hidden agenda? Is everyone hiding behind a façade and living a lie?

This book was like crack and with that ending I am certainly a Devil’s Music junkie. I seriously need book two and cannot wait to see what the hell is going on.

Fans of the hit show Empire and deliciously outrageous soap operas will gobble up Lisa Marie Perry’s latest erotic offering like it’s their last supper. Featuring a hip hop record company on the brink of failure, a pair of siblings reunite to take back the company that was stolen from them by their so called friends and lovers. Though the romance is a strong element, readers will willing ride this crazy train through all the drama of heartbreaking betrayal, firefueled revenge, blistering hot erotic sex, and a crazy cast of characters who you will love to hate and hate to love.

I loved Chelsea's spunk, “hmm, if you’re thinking about mast**bating, hold off until you get here. I’m bored with TV and I’d rather watch you jack yourself off.” This book was alright, I didn't really like Joshua, Emma's husband, Emma needed to be punched in the face at times. I loved Dante and even though Donte and Chelsea had a strange relationship I thought it worked for them.

I've never read anything by this author before but I swear this first book in this series is now stuck in my psyche. The characters all have some major issues going on here and YES, I can't walk away now. Dante has me intrigued. He walked away yet finds his way back into the mix to help his sister, who I think is the most screwed up of the bunch.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind up around Chelsea, Emma and Joshua. There is something so much deeper going on with these characters that I know no matter what I will be coming back to see what their story is.

I intially wasn't sure how I felt about this cover and the book but I took a chance and it is worth every hair pulling moment. This is not just some rock music romance, there is so much going on here it's almost like watching a series on television (but much better since reading has me using my imagination). Just to add in another hook, there are a lot of extra characters that will intrigue you almost as much as the main ones.

This is an author I will be watching and possilbly adding to my reading list.

A few of my books friends loved this book and I was excited to read. I'm all about the drama in my books but there was way too much in this story for me. The story had drama just for the sake of having drama. Each character has deep dark hidden secrets. Some of them are really messed up. Even with that I still didn't feel any type of connection with any of the characters. I needed more character development as the story progressed and I didn't get any. I was left with more questions after reading. Sadly this book just didn't work in my favor.

ARC Review: Sin For Me (The Devil's Music) by Lisa Marie Perry

Like a rhythmic vibration that starts way down deep, Ms. Perry grabs the mike and takes center stage with Sin For Me. From the trail of broken hearts to the internal scheming and the combustible fireworks Chelsea and Dante throw at each other, the drama is real. The temptation is temperamental and the romance is as seductive as the catchy tunes The Devil's Music produces. What's a little romance without a bit of mystery thrown in to stir the flames? Sin For Me is intensely sensual and highly emotional. I'll be holding my breath waiting to see what happens next.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I totally enjoyed it. It has murder, love and traitors in a cut throat music business. Secerts are revealed some new ones made and you learn who your true friends are in life. This book contained it all, loved it. Just when i thought I was on the road to understanding the answer more secerts were revealed. The characters were great and even though I did want to hurt several to make them see sense, lol. I didn't realize this was a 2 part series book but the ending in my opinion left me just satisfied enough but that I can wait the few months for the rest of answers. Though I will grab part 2 as soon as I can to find out the whole truth! Honest review in exchange for ARC.

Well ... I just don't know what to say. This book has so many stories going on at once, so you really have to pay attention and read it all at once. Only you don't get any answers ... hopefully the answers will come in book 2.

But the main story is about Dante and Chelsea. They have a past where they broke each other's hearts. Dante is brought back to his family's record label to write songs for a deaf singer (Alexa), to help the label stay afloat. He knows he will be working alongside Chelsea, as she is now the label's COO. They start an affair with the intentions of taking advantage of each other and not let their hearts come into the equation at all. Side stories are: 1) Joshua and Emma, 2) Joshua and Delilah, and 3) Alexia. Can't wait for the next book!

For Dante Bishop, music died the night he found his father’s body next to a syringe of lithium. Ditching Atlanta, Dante jumped on his Harley and left the family business to his sister. She became the heart and soul of Devil’s Music—until the board, including Dante’s ex, masterminded a takeover. Years later, Dante’s doing something he never thought he’d do: returning to Georgia to put his songwriting skills to good use. Reuniting with Chelsea Coin only sweetens the deal.

As the perfectionist COO of Devil’s Music, Chelsea doesn’t dwell on the past. If she did, she’d never forgive herself for betraying the Bishops in a corporate power grab. Now Chelsea needs help to save the company, and Dante’s a nonnegotiable part of the arrangement. Still brooding and hot as hell, Dante wastes no time stirring up unfinished business—and carnal memories Chelsea would rather keep buried. She’s come too far to risk everything on a man. But for desire this intense, she might just enjoy the sexiest mistake of her life.

Review:

This book has the biggest bunch of dysfunctional characters I have ever read!

Seriously, these people are messed up. There is back-stabbing, drinking, drugs, sex, cheating and that was probably only 25% into the book. There really was not a lot of redeeming qualities in any of the characters in this book, so it made it hard to feel sympathetic to any of them. For being marketed as a romance I would not really consider this as one, there is a lot of sex but even Chelsea and Dante (the couple in the book) seem to be using sex as a weapon. It was an addicting story. Reading about these people was watching a train wreck, you cannot look away. I can see where the comparison to Empire is an accurate statement.

This is my first time reading this Author. I liked her writing style and how she made me want to read about these characters who I did not like very much. This is the first in a new series and it does end on a cliffhanger.

This first book in The Devil's Music series by Lisa Marie Perry is a dark portrayal of the life and involvement of those characters who are part of a hip-hop music label called Devil's Music.
Much like the TV series 'Empire', something is always happening and there are stories behind stories. Power grabbing, lust, sex, love, guilt, and revenge echo in the very building and estate housing the music label base office.
The Bishop family has made the Devil's Music a formidable label.
When Dante Bishop finds his father dead, he decided he wanted out. Leaving his share of the music label to his sister Delilah, he leaves town turning his back on his music that was part of his very being as well as breaking up with his girlfriend in the worst possible way.
Delilah Bishop had made the Devil's Music label her very reason to live. She finds herself ousted by the board and her three best friends who she had made part of the label, one of whom was her brother's ex. Now she finds she has the chance to save the label and get back a share of it and maybe get revenge on her friends.
Chelsea, Dante's ex-girl friend, finds out the cost of saving the music label is to be available to Dante as part of his deal to come back and write music for a new singer. How could she cope when he was the one to introduce her to carnal delights. While he wastes no time in showing her the past may not be forgotten and the lessons she learned definitely were not.
Both Dante and Chelsea have their reasons to work together that could bring them forgiveness for past and current decisions.
Several loose ends are left open that are hopefully answered in the next book. If it's anything like this first book, 'ooh la la'.

Deceit, betrayal, erotic

The book cover and blurb to Sin For Me lures you to think this is a romantic story. Well, just stop. Go about your business and look elsewhere. If you want sweet, comfortable, a uncomplicated plot, purple prose, this is not it. Ms. Perry will give you crack and take you down a rabbit hole where your skin will ache from emotional abrasion and your mind exhausted from mental masturbation.

Though the central characters, Dante Bishop and Chelsea Coin, take center stage, there are side stories that embellish upon this fast-paced, unabashed story of greed and deceit. Sin For Me uses the backdrop of hip hop music industry, taking an intense look behind the people who stole a family business from friends. Dante and Delilah Bishop were heirs to Devil’s Music, a music label that was the Bishop family legacy until it was stolen from them by Joshua Drake, Emma Toledo, and Chelsea Coin.

There is strange dynamic that play between Joshua and his wife Emma, Joshua and Delilah, and Joshua and Lex. With Dante and Chelsea reuniting after years apart, the intense drama unfolds along with the others. This story is filled with betrayal, deceit, lies, and lots and lots of sex. Yes, the sex is hot. The characters are insanely dysfunctional. Ms. Perry’s storytelling grabs you by the neck and shakes you mercilessly until the end. The story is rough and in-your-face unapologetic. At the end I felt drained from all the consuming dramatics, but it was an interesting read for me unlike I have read.

It also ends abruptly.

Perhaps there will be a sequel to explain the mystery behind a previous murder.

Raunchy and raw, a cutthroat music industry's players are out for success and revenge, and no one is safe from their sting. Four music execs grappling for their place, each finding something to call their own, but man, what a messed up bunch this is!

There is so much going on in this story; I’m too stunned to know where to begin. Essentially, Sin For Me reads like a T.V soap opera, with abundance of suspense, intrigue and off the charts, super hot sex!

At times, the story did take a slower turn, and occasionally I was a little confused, but I had no ability to put the book down, as the story had me tight within its grip and wasn’t letting go till I reached the very end.

With so many secondary characters contributing to this intriguing storyline, I’m sure there are many more books to come in this explosive series.

This story is intense from the very get go. It was steady paced. It jumped a little from one character to the next at times but it never deflected from the story. At first you wonder what the tie in is but it gets to the point pretty quick. Although the main characters are Dante and Chelsea there are more characters in the dynamic of this story. The end was kind of cliffhanger style but it wets your curiously to read the second book. I for one can't wait for the conclusion.

Dante and Chelsea have a very complicated history. Some brought on by lies some brought on by self infliction. They don't trust each other but you can tell just how much each affect the other. How much they love each other even if they want to deny themselves.

Bringing Dante back to Atlanta for business only was the plan for Chelsea. But nobody knows her like Dante. He can see she is hurting. He may have left her years ago but she is still his and he wants to protect her. And if that means he gets smoking hot sex at the same time even better.

The story was raw and rough. It was fast paced and left me hanging on my seat. I highly recommend this book and the author. I have read her stuff in the past and will continue to do so.

‘Sin for Me’ by Lisa Marie Perry had me thinking I was watching episodes of the TV series Empire.  There was so much going on that at times I was a bit confused.  The first few chapters were a bit slow paced for me but I stuck it out and then it really started on fire.

This book has 2 main characters but there are so many others that contributed to the story.  Dante and Chelsea have a past and one that neither one can forget, especially since they both still love one another but do not trust each other...see drama right there!

Chelsea is the COO of the music label that she helped take over from Dante's family.  Now needing Dante's help neither can resist the attraction they still have with each other. So that brings forth some steamy sex between the two.  It was a well written story that kept my attention and had me wanting to push for that HEA.

This story ended in a cliffhanger that makes me ask when book 2 is coming out?

I was given an advanced copy of this book by Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept on Netgalley. I have a confession to make. When I went browsing on netgalley I picked this book because the cover and the disruption was so well done I COULD NOT RESIST! Lisa Marie Perry you are a goddess. This is truly sinful! This is gripping energetic and awesome. It reads like a soap opera that you can not look away from. Chelsea is a broken beautiful woman who you can’t help but love for her spunky smart ass personality! Dante and Chelsea have a very complicated history but as the chapters progress you see that they have the best love hate relationship.the issues they share are brought on by lies some brought on by self infliction. They don't trust each other but you can tell just how much each affect the other. How much they love each other even if they want to deny themselves. Dante is a creative soul and the sex between them OMG explosive. Ladies and Gents this is 5 sinful stars Bonnie and Clyde Ride Or Die.

So....just WOW. First I want to say I really enjoyed this book and NEED the next book now!! With that said I have to admit it didn't start that way. I was sooooo confused. Really at times I still am. All these characters, and there are a bunch of them, are all crazy. That crazy is what kept me going though. Reading this is like reading a night time soap opera. The main characters are Dante and Chelsea and the history between them.

The story ends in a cliffhanger that will have you yelling! Don't let that stop you from reading. It's steamy hot, full of drama, and different from anything I've read in a long time.

Sin For Me by Lisa Marie Perry
My Rating 3.5 Stars

Sin for me was an intense story once I got past the first couple chapters, which were slow but intriguing enough to keep me reading.
Dante and Chelsea have a complicated past. These two love one another yet don’t trust each other. Dante is brought back for business to a place he never planned to be again.
Even though Dante and Chelsea are the main highlights with this story there are other characters that help bring this story full circle even thou at times those characters drove me crazy. Dante and Chelsea have some hills to climb within these pages and it’s a great ride to read!

Okay, so I read this book about a month a go and when I finished it, the only thought I had was ... "wait, what? hold on a minute ...." and that is not necessarily a bad thing. For this book it is exactly what I was supposed to think/feel. So excellent job on that. However, it leaves me with little else to say because anything I say will take away from the experience/drama that makes this book so captivating.

You don't really realize how good the story really is until it is over. Because you're left wanting sooooooooooo much more. Fortunately, we're gonna get it :) And I cannot wait!
