Rate this book
Step behind the scenes into the exciting early days of motion pictures. Meet intrepid producer Martin Tafft, driven to make Peerless Studios the biggest name in the new frontier of silent movies. Experience the action, thrills, and passion that create film magic—and don't end when the camera stops rolling.

A Meeting of Minds...And Hearts

For the sake of her career, stunningly beautiful actress Brenda Fitzpatrick is accustomed to hiding her keen intelligence behind the facade of a featherheaded blonde. But not when it comes to Colin Peters, a research assistant on the new romantic movie she's starring in. Fascinated by Colin's vast knowledge, she won't shy away from talking with him about his work. And she isn't blind to the good looks he conceals behind his thick glasses and rumpled clothes. Now Martin Tafft has asked Brenda to loosen up his too-meticulous research assistant. It isn't long before an improbable attraction blossoms into a love more real than any celluloid fantasy.

I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for my honest review.
Alice Duncan clearly had her tongue planted firmly in her cheek when writing Beauty and the Brain. If you've read and loved The Rosie Project, you'll almost certainly love this story too.
Beauty and the Brain pokes fun at the silent movie industry and the way it glossed over historical accuracy in the name of telling a good story, and poor Colin, the hapless hero of this story, suffers hugely at Alice Duncan's hand as he tries to reconcile his academically trained mind with the realities of human relationships. Brenda, the star of the show, is perfect, of course. This story is light, witty and was enormous fun to read.

So when I started this book, I had a really hard time getting into it (which is why it took so long to read). However, I have had many books start off slow and end up being favorites. This book started off slow but by the end, I was loving it. Colin was a bit stuffy at the beginning. Pretty much any time he talked, I wanted to reach thru the pages and slap the man. That did change later in the book and I decided to like him after all. This is a lovely romance with a bit of a slow start but it is definitely worth the wait.

If it wasn't for needing a good editor I would have awarded this story 5 stars. It was thoroughly enjoyable read with delightful touches about the making of silent movies. Brenda is a warm and intelligent woman who gradually softens Colin into a feeling human being with both love and passion. I received this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book for his strong and witty characters, the setting in a new film.
The story is full of problems and different way to see the life but it is full of sentiment and love.
A story well written and keeps you engages until the last page.

I loved this story, especially because Colin at first seems such a numbskull, and yet under the tutelage of Brenda, becomes our hero. (Reminds me of a lot of men our there.) Worth reading. This book was given to me by eBook Discovery in return for an honest review.
