This autobiography covers the very early years of Segovia's career, including his childhood, introduction to the guitar, and struggle as an artist trying to jumpstart his career. There's plenty of good advice for young artists, and I think also comfort in knowing that every artist must struggle to become a professional. It's also a fascinating portrait of Spain in the early 1900's, including small tidbits about Segovia's and other languages/dialects. In the end it was a very sweet portrait of a beloved artist, sharing the depth with which music moved him and all the human frailties and misgivings that every person must struggle through.
