While visiting Prague in 2014, my host told me a Warsaw Pact era joke, "They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work." Hey, it's in the book, too.

This guy's life of villany needs to be set to iambic pentameter: his slimey nature was Shakespearean. The reporters/authors wove Andropov's position into the whole cloth of Soviet leadership and history.

And the Russian populace continues to bear the brunt of her leaders' tyranny.
