The Second Robotech War begins here!

CHANGE OF POWERS

After the final attack by Khyron and Azonia, not only it costed the loss of the newly SDF-2 but also the loss of too many dear friends. However, the mission to go to the alien world Tirol and to contact the Robotech Masters and dealing a peace treaty still has to be done. Breetai's Battlewagon is re-designed to make it into the SDF-3. Admiral Rick Hunter and Admiral Lisa Hayes-Hunter are leading the mission of the now Robotech Expeditionary Force, along with some REF vessels and the remnant of Zentraedi population guessing that once the REF would leave, the Earth wouldn't be a safe place for them...

...and they weren't wrong.

Colonel Anatole Leonard is in control of Earth's defense now and he dismantled anything left of REF/RDF structure and founded the new Army of the Southern Cross. Since after 15 years, his fears about an Earth left without the protection of the SDF-3 is nowadays a reality since there is none message from the REF since they left to go into deep space.

Dana Sterling, daughter of Max Sterling and Miriya Parino-Sterling, along with Bowie Grant, son of Vince and Jean Grant and newphew of Claudia Grant, both babies, remained on Earth due considering too risky to bring them on the REF mission.

Dana and Bowie eventually gone to the United Earth Forces Military Academy and graduated and assigned to the 15th Alpha Tactical Armored Corps using Veritech Hovertanks (Robotech tanks able to change into 3 modes: Vehicle, Guardian and Battloid). Dana is promoted to Lieutenant and becoming field commander of the 15th ATAC battalion.

CRUEL IRONY

The REF left Earth to find a peaceful solution with the Robotech Masters.

However, the Robotech Masters already left Tirol and they went to Earth to recover by themselves the Zor's fortress (aka SDF-1).

So, the REF, the best and most powerful resources to defend Earth are no more there, nobody knows what happened with them, and now the Robotech Masters came to attack the Earth.

The Army of the Southern Cross is still in formation but they are the only ones to defend civilian population against the attacks of the Robotech Masters. You may tell that it's a even challenge since the Robotech Masters after too many years without having the Protoculture Matrix, their military resources are at minimum.

However, even at minimum, the Robotech Masters have a wildcard in their sleeves...

...Zor Prime, a clone of the original Zor, and his meeting with Lt. Dana Sterling will shape the tide of the Second Robotech War!!!

Amazing how an unrelated series can be so engaging when added to the other two.

Great series of books for kids that enjoy or are interested in science fiction. I read these books in middle school (I'm now in my 30s) and loved each one. The stories are fun, engaging and relatively fast paced. I'd be tempted to reread them now just for old time's sake if I didn't have so many new books on my to-read list.

I knocked it down a peg because, in retrospect, there are some aspects that are a bit too cheesy. I'm sure when my kids are old enough, they'll get thier own copies.
