Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply by Terry Spear
Heart of the Wolf series #19. Silver Town wolfs #6. Paranormal wolf shifter romance. Slow build. Can be read as a stand-alone but characters from prior books are supporting and secondary characters in this story. Original publication 2016.
Wolf shifter and park ranger Eric Silver is busy with his job policing the San Isabel National Forest. He’s also searching for the wolves that are illegally growing marijuana plants in so e of the most remote areas of the forest. The Silver pack knows how dangerous the wolf shifters can be if they think their income is threatened. In his searching, Eric comes across another wolf pack run by alpha Pepper Grayling who has a hurt pack member. He helps get the hurt woman to their car but then is attached by a male wolf as he’s leaving. The male isn’t a part of the Grayling pack but he is a threat. Since Pepper is one of the only alphas in her pack, Eric decides to help make sure they are safe. He’s enamored with Pepper but she’s not sure she wants another mate based on her prior experience experiences.
Slow build romance as Eric gets to know the Graylings and threats bounce from Pepper to Eric. He has to prove he’s not out to usurp her role as alpha. If it takes flowers, cooking, birthday parties and safety patrols, he’s all in. Now they just have to get rid of the threat. After they shower. Wink wink.
Another mated couple in this growing family of wolf shifters. Two brothers mated, two to go.
An enjoyable romance with a few steamy scenes and an hea for an afternoon escape.

Spear once again provides a highly imaginative addition to the Heart of the Wolf and Silvertown Wolves series.
Park ranger, Eric is hunting down a wolf shifter that scent is all over an illegal drug crop found in the park. His search brings him face to face with Pepper, a wolf shifter, and her pack.
Eric is unsure of Pepper’s pack involvement in the illegal activities but he’d really get to know her better.
Pepper is a female alpha that leads her own pack and is very leery of accepting another alpha wolf’s attention.
This is a slow won romance; Eric must tread carefully if he wishes to have any hope of winning Pepper.
Spear masterfully weaves many past characters back into Eric’s and Pepper’s story, I’m sure you can almost hear my squeal of joy. For that alone, I was hooked.
I, also, loved the way Eric slowly and sweetly pursues Pepper. He is carefully aware of her strengths and lets her be who she was truly meant to be, the packs alpha.
So, I’m sure you asking why 4 stars, it was the final reversal of Pepper feelings, everything else was so perfectly executed but her instant change of heart seemed completely out of place.
But nothing could take away from Spear's ability to make a totally fictional, paranormal world seem so at home in the non-fiction world we live. She has an uncanny way of making you feel these shape shifting people are your neighbors and friends.

Eric, a wolf shifter, is a park ranger. He meets Pepper, another wolf shifter and forest ranger, but she is not interested in courting, having lost her mate several years ago, but Eric is definitely tempting. Eric is trying to catch some criminals, one of whom is also interested in Pepper. I can always count on Terry Spear for an escapist sweet and spicy shifter romance. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the ARC.

Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply is book nineteen in the Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spears. This story takes us back to Silvertown and the Silver Pack Wolves that live their as well as introducing us to a new pack.
Heart of the Wolf is one of my favorite series to read and re-visit. The best thing is each book can stand-a-lone, so you can just pick one up and go. They are all sweet romances with a little suspense or mystery added in. The wolves are all different in personality, color, and packs and each couple brings something new and entertaining of their own to the story.
Eric Silver, the diligent park ranger is determined to hunt down the shifters planting cannabis in his forest.
Pepper Grayling, leader of her pack is determined to not let an Alpha male wolf take over her territory and pack.
I liked Pepper as an Alpha who could run her pack and stand up for herself. I also liked Eric. Both these two have a past and neither are looking for new mates, but one chance meeting changes things and a sweet slow burning courtship begins. What I loved the most is Eric. He maybe an Alpha, but he isn’t afraid to step back and let Pepper lead. We are also treated to a little action. For fans of this series you might enjoy how Ms. Spear weaves many past characters back into Eric and Pepper’s story.
The one thing I didn’t like was Pepper’s final reversal on her feelings. This change of heart was so sudden. It just seemed out of place, especially with how slow the courtship/romance was blooming.
As with all series, some books are better than others and Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply is one I would recommend trying out. It was a delightful addition to this series.

Terry Spear sure does delight in giving her readers shifters stories with bite! This pairing is no different as not only do we get Eric the diligent park ranger determined to hunt down shifters planting cannabis in his forest but she also gives us an unusual female lead . Pepper leads her Pack and feels she needs no interference from would be mates but there's a very persistent suitor who is determined to take over her Pack, her land and Pepper herself! Now luckily Eric has crossed paths with Pepper and she made quite an impression but more importantly are any of her Pack involved in the illegal drug planting? Well the only way to find out for sure is to stay close but how close is too close?
I really liked that Pepper is an alpha who stands up to all comers . She isn't looking for a new mate as she can see far too many pitfalls but the recent arrival of a new Pack in the area is causing all kinds of trouble . Eric is also not looking for a mate as like Pepper he has a past that has scarred his soul. What's really interesting is the slow almost nonexistent courtship that the pair undergo. Eric may be an alpha wolf himself but he isn't afraid to step back and let Pepper lead at times . A huge plus for this reader was no instant love just a relationship that builds with mutual respect and trust . Although Peppers change of heart did seem rather sudden . There's a little action along the way with a bad guy to boo and hiss at but mainly this story just adds yet more depth to the world this author has created. If you are already a fan you will enjoy the latest characters and catching up with old friends too.

There were plants growing in Eric’s forest that did not naturally belong here. Ever. Now he’s on a mission to take down the wolves growing illegal drugs where they have no business being. In the course of his investigation he comes across the perfect woman for him – his mate. Too bad that she’s not looking for what he can offer… security, protection and a strong mate at her side while she leads the pack. But the path to success is not always the fast track, and Eric knows how to use slow determination to get the job done and win the wolf he needs as his mate forever.
Pepper is a strong Alpha. She’s led her pack with determination, strength and intelligence. She has no need for a mate. Alpha wolves who come nipping at her heels thinking they’ve found the perfect pack to take over are soon understanding the folly of their assumptions. Eric, he’s different and she’s not really sure what to make of his actions. Oh, she feels his attraction, one that she returns with caution, but he’s not pushing, he’s not taking over and that’s out of the ordinary for Pepper. Maybe she’s finally come across a wolf that knows how to let a woman do what she does best without trying to take it all away from her. But first they have some bad guys or bad wolves to catch. Danger always puts a little extra pressure on any emotions, but when things quiet down… maybe she’s found her mate, at last.
I completely enjoyed Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply on several levels. First, of course, was going back to the Silver Town wolf pack – love those guys. And it’s always a treat to run into old friends once more, even if it’s a short visit. The action parts of this story kept me glued to the pages, and with a few twists and turns was very enjoyable. Yet the best part of this story was the slow development of Eric and Pepper’s relationship. Eric was an Alpha who had made the choice not to have his own pack, he was content under his cousin’s leadership. He didn’t need to be Alpha to know his own worth. Pepper has known the betrayal and cunning of other Alpha wolves looking to take over her pack through mating her. And she’s successfully tossed each one of then out on their butt, so to speak. She’s attracted to Eric, she feels the mate pull toward him but she certainly doesn’t trust him …yet That he’s going to have to earn. Watching their interaction and slow, believable advancement through their need for each other was nicely done. Not everything has to be instant and a slow but surely romance worked well with these two characters.
I would recommend Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply for any Paranormal Romance reader, especially if you love Shifter Romance. While this story is part of two series, it could be read on its own. Any mention of the other series’ characters are fully explained within dialog if needed.

Spear has definitely created a wildly imaginative yet extremely realistic novel with this one. I love how everything is so plausible, even being a shifter. The subtle hints and plot twists throughout kept me on my toes while also weaving many lives together. Not only is the plot of this novel well laid out, but Spear also goes indepth with her development of her wolf shifters. Readers aren’t left guessing, but rather are shown what happens. I really enjoyed the look at wolf posturing and how it’s part of absolutely everything in these characters’ everyday lives.
Spear’s gradual character development lets you get to know everyone as issues arise. I enjoyed the fact that it was a natural introduction rather than a forced info dump. Pepper’s suspicious nature is a little over the top at times. She’s so focused on the ‘can’t’s’ that life is flying by and she’s limiting her whole pack. Conversely, Eric tries so hard to see the possibilities. It was amazing how different Pepper & Eric’s views were.
This novel was sweet & heartfelt but also dangerous and action packed. It’s definitely well worth the read.

Pepper Grayling is not your typical girl next door. She's not even your typical wolf next door. Nope she's and Alpha Wolf and runs her pack. Strong and decisive she has no use for males who think they can come in and take over. Unfortunatly that seems to be the type she keeps attracting. Lazy, self centered, greedy and power hungry wolves who assume that the "little lady" needs a man er wolf to help run things. Since that is all Pepper knows about Alpha Males, when one comes along who isn't any of those things she's more than a little confused. How can she trust her heart and more importantly her pack to an Alpha Male?

In fact he's strong enough to run his own pack but his family is in Silver Town and after the shame their father put the pack through, Eric has no desire to make waves. That doesn't mean he isn't an alpha all on his own. When he meets Pepper Grayling it's instant attraction and he knows he would be good for her as well as her pack. He doesn't want to run it instead of her but he would like to be by her side. How can he explain the difference? Eric has to learn a little patience and show Pepper that he's not that kind of Alpha.
I like this series, it's fun, it's crazy and the characters stay true to the storyline no matter how far into it you get. Sure there are crossovers with other Heart of the Wolf Packs and sometimes it can get confusing but that's ok. The stories are well thought out, well planned and well implemented. Strong characters, both lead and secondary and creative storylines.
In Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply I saw a realistic human problem faced by a wolf shifter and how she applied it to pack life. A strong woman who wants a man but doesn't need one.. A strong woman that has to learn how to trust and how to accept that sometimes it's ok to lean on someone else. That doesn't make you weak.

While tempted to give in to her attraction to Eric, Pepper Grayling has been pursued by too many alpha males out to take over her pack so she just isn’t ready to open her heart and the reader can’t help but enjoy all the fireworks and passion that flows from the pages as Eric sets out to earn Pepper’s trust. There is certainly plenty of sizzling chemistry between these two strong, charismatic and very alpha characters but with betrayals from the past haunting Pepper and the welfare of her pack at stake, this relationship is one that will take lots of hard work which keeps readers on the edge of their seat with anticipation throughout this fast paced, smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement and romance.
There is lots of suspense and excitement to be found throughout this spectacular story as not only is Eric investigating some wolves that are definitely up to no good, his courtship of Pepper stirs up a hornet’s nest of trouble when an unwanted suitor takes exception which adds a bit of dangerous excitement to the story as it places both Pepper and Eric in a couple of dangerous situations. The intriguing events draws readers in and holds them hostage with the well written scenes being full of great details that make it easy for the reader to picture every moment.
Eric and Pepper’s story is an epic event…. things aren’t quite the way you would expect them to be as both are alpha wolves but they don’t behave in typical alpha fashion which for me added a bit of spice and made for a refreshing change but then Terry Spear usually manages to keep me on my toes and as usual I can’t wait for the next fascinating story.

There is lots of suspense and excitement to be found throughout this spectacular story as not only is Eric investigating some wolves that are definitely up to no good, his courtship of Pepper stirs up a hornet’s nest of trouble when an unwanted suitor takes exception which adds a bit of dangerous excitement to the story as it places both Pepper and Eric in a couple of dangerous situations. The intriguing events draws readers in and holds them hostage with the well written scenes being full of great details that make it easy for the reader to picture every moment.

I was drawn to ALPHA WOLF NEED NOT APPLY, not just because its a Terry Spear story but I thought we might get a romance with a beta wolf which I haven't been able to find much of. What we got was close enough and awesome. Eric is seriously the most relaxed alpha male I've seen which might say something about the types of books I've been reading that lean very heavily on the alphahole trope. He's protective and aggressive when he needs to be but can back off when he can tell that Pepper can deal with the situation. He's got her back and respects her enough not to haul her away and lock her in her room. They butt heads and eventually see eachother's point of view...like an actual relationship with two dominant personalities! I was quite happy to see this type of relationship build up to a sweet romance.
While I enjoyed the Eric and Pepper's budding relationship, the story involving a rival pack trying to hook up with Pepper to gain power was a tad slow in the beginning. Granted when you're trying to court an alpha wolf female you probably should go slow and tread very lightly. I enjoyed seeing all of the secondary characters interact and they seemed pretty realistic, or as realistic as people who shift into wolves can be. The plot was pretty steady and sped up towards the middle with some interesting twists involving the rival pack working against Pepper.

I truly enjoyed this story about Eric and Pepper. They were both likeable alphas who weren’t bogged down in being “tough”. It was fun to see the familiar pack members and meet some new ones – I can only hope they have books of their own coming. There was constant danger but also a lightness to the story that really hit the spot with me. A fun read!

Love at first sight!
Great story of love and endurance alpha wolf style. This story is woven around alpha wolf Eric Silver and an unknown pack leader, alpha female, Pepper Grayling.
The Grayling pack is a surprise to Eric and the rest of Silver Town. He only became aware of it when he rescued an injured member, Susan, carried her back to her pack's home, and is completely smitten by one of the women playing around in a rock pool. In his mind he fancies her a goddess. That goddess is Pepper Grayling who has no intention of mating with anyone. There are too many traps in that path. Her pack could suffer too much.
What with a group of unknown wolves planting marijuana crops in the park; a nasty character, Waldron, leader of another mystery pack forcing his attentions on Pepper; a bit of arson and other high jinks, things are mighty hectic around Silver Town.

This was my first Terry Spear read, and it was definitely an interesting tale. I enjoyed the strong female lead and the male lead who was fine running as second fiddle unless needed. I appreciate a full-length book because it gives the author room to move and maximize their wordcraft. The romance seemed to be a slow start, but once Eric and Pepper locked in they definitely ignited. I felt that wording in some sections was a little bit mundane, but the story was solid and the plot was strong.

I was really happy that Eric was getting his own story. I really liked Pepper too. She is perfect for Eric. But I found the story a little slow and dragging in places. It was still a good story and I am happy that I read it. But I was hoping for a little more. Maybe it was the slow start. I am not sure.
But I am looking forward to the next installment in this series.

Yeah, Eric he doesn't have the best timing but it was interesting seeing his reactions to it, "Eric settled back against the soft blue sheets and closed his eyes, glad Pepper was okay with him buying groceries and fixing her dinner… Wait! Did she say she wanted to court him?" I really liked Eric and I loved Pepper they were good together.

So, I requested this book because the blurb piqued my interest, but I was unaware that it was a good number into a series (#6 in Silver Town Wolf, #19 in Heart of the Wolf). Anyway, it stated it could be read as a stand-alone, so I started reading. I don't know if I would have felt more interest in the characters lives but it really didn't manage to draw me in.
It was bland and a chore to read. Eric is one of those characters that is one of the background characters that finally get their story told in their own book. If I had read the first book I might have felt more connected to him and his history, but I never got to know him after reading the book: he feels like an acquaintance and not the friend he should be after following him through his book.
I have the same feelings when it comes to Pepper. She's a friend of a friend I know on a surface level. I felt she was more of an unknown quantity as she was a new love interest. I didn't connect with her and the trauma she suffered because she was so blasé about what happened, and she didn't seem affected at all.
The whole alpha/beta thing didn't seem all that pronounced. They are wolves so I feel like there should be some more territorial actions and a powerful personality rather than just a person who is willing to stand by their principles and who isn't.
Thinking back on the book, it feels like most of the book was one big conversation. Not much showing happened, but a lot of talking did happen. And much of it was superficial and unnecessary.
Oh and the sex scenes were as exciting as an appointment with the gynecologist.
What I did like was Eric and Pepper's occupations. It sounds super intriguing, with mountains, wilderness and wild animals. There's nothing like that type of nature in my country so reading about someone having a day job helping people in need in such a place is foreign to me.
Another thing I like is that there was no insta-love/lust, but they felt interested in each other and they talked and interacted with each other like normal people. And healthy communication with everyone, but like I said there was a lot of talking. Sooo muuuch conversation that not even the slightest bit of miscommunication could be had, which meant no one got to confront or stand up to another, so we never really got any feeling on how Pepper and Eric would handle themselves in an argument. But then all of a sudden BOOM 'I love you's were everywhere, and behind the readers back the insta-lust/love were happening and that ruined it for me.
For long time readers who have read the entire series they may have a different experience with this book but for me it was lacking and only worth 2.5 stars

This book was a struggle to get through. I really enjoyed the premise, an alpha she-wolf with no desire to mate again and an alpha he-wolf who has no desire to take over a pack meet. She is a forester and he's a park ranger investigating bad wolf activity in the national park. It had the bones to be really good. But it wasn't.
The author over explained every single detail. Nothing was left up to nuance or interpretation. I don't mind being explained to, I don't. I mind being told the same thing, in different POVs, multiple times. It was insulting. WE GET IT, Pepper doesn't want anyone taking over her pack. WE GET IT, Eric doesn't want to take over a pack. OKAY!!
The writing was also awkward to me, no build up or tension (could be because of the over explanations). When I would get into it, the dialogue wasn't bad, but it was everything between the dialogue that was odd. Sometimes even the dialogue was over explaining what was happening.
The POVs that came from other wolfs? Completely unnecessary to the story. Didn't enhance it at all and in fact was a bit icky. The "Psychologist" turned criminal profiler? Hard to believe. Also over explained and felt unbelievable.
There were points made in the book that didn't need to be there, ie.: Pepper calls the Y household, Mrs. Y is doing the dishes so Mr. Y answers. WHAT? Why? Why was that necessary to the book?
Timelines were ignored. Someone was unavailable to talk and then the next page they were available?
Pepper is on the phone with Susan and then on the next page she's talking to Susan in person in her house?
Then, can we talk about the love declaration? We barely know each other, have spent so little time together, BUT I LOVE YOU ERIC. No... even instalove is better than that. They aren't fated mates so it doesn't make sense. The instant mating? Also, what the heck.

Eric and Pepper are Alphas, each in their own right and of different packs. For most of this book they dance around wanting each other but not wanting another mate. You see, both have had mates in the past and are perfectly satisfied (or so they think) going it alone.
Although he is an alpha wolf Eric is not the leader of his pack and he’s fulfilled with his role in the Silver pack. Eric works as a park ranger in the area and town run by the Silver pack. He loves helping people (human and were) should they get into trouble out in the mountain trails, but really he loves keeping people out of trouble. His friends in the pack want him to mate again, after losing his first mate. Eric, however, protests that he is not interested.
Pepper is a glorious female alpha and I was so glad to see this character fully developed in this book. Ms. Spear writes Pepper as feminine, strong, and in charge without making her like a male alpha in drag. Her first mate was a beta and they had been friends since childhood, so much so that they were more like brother and sister so she has never known a passionate mating. It is up to Eric to show her that passion can exist alongside strength and wanting a mate doesn’t mean having to give up being a leader.
There is another pack in the area and another alpha who wants Pepper for his mate, but he isn’t willing to play by the rules. If Pepper doesn’t want to come to him willingly he will simply take her and her pack by force. Does Pepper need Eric to step in and save her or can she take care of the problem herself or will they work together to solve the problem.
Another issue facing the Silver pack is someone with wolf scent is growing marijuana illegally on their land. When the mysterious pack starts masking their scent with human scent the hunt is on.
I loved the teenagers who are being led astray by a false leader and Pepper’s reaction to them. She isn’t exactly motherly but she is a leader who sees young people who need guidance and begins to provide it.
This is #19 in the Heart of the Wolf series but can be read as a stand alone novel without missing a thing. As usual, Ms. Spear brings to the reader the backstories that are necessary to move this book’s plotline forward without resorting to an information dump. Another great shifter story by Terry Spear, and one I recommend to lovers of romance, mystery, and stories of strong women finding their mates.

Terry Spear seems to be the voice of good shifter stories even developing shifter towns. I am new to her writing but truly enjoyed the last book I read because of the wonderful characters in the shifter town. This book was a bit of a miss for me. The storyline was good with wolves committing illegal activities and the beginning of the book certainly got a great start. Eric was thrown right into the center of action and drama. He in his own admission was a bit too alpha. He called it wanting to help but to a female alpha he was bossy. Pepper was also an alpha and at times showed it but she was so afraid of being overwhelmed by another alpha that she came off a bit like she was trying to hard. In my opinion a true alpha female can share her power with an equally strong man without being overtaken. All that is a way of saying both had a lot to learn in this story about being mates and being alpha. She did care for her pack and did try to help but the scene with her choosing not to send an injured wolf to the wolf town doctor did not paint her in the best light.
The images the author describes of the forest and the shifter town paint a nice picture, but we had just a skosh to much description. One thing that enhanced this story were the characters from other books popping in to give an update on their lives. If you have read other stories about this group of wolves you are more invested in the other characters.

Let’s see what happens next if we can bring back the spark from the last book.

One thing that enhanced this story were the characters from other books popping in to give an update on their lives. If you have read other stories about this group of wolves you are more invested in the other characters.
I really did want to like this book more than I did. The last book by Terry Spears “A Good Wolf is Hard to Find” was a much better offering with a stronger mated pair. I’m not giving up on Terry because we all swing and miss sometimes. I am giving this book three stars but would give it 3.5 to 3.6 stars if I could. Let’s see what happens next if we can bring back the spark from the last book.

This was a fun, fast-paced book, with a great plot, attention to detail, and great characters. With all that said though I felt that something was different from her other books I have read. I really don’t know how to put it in words other than something was off. However, with that being said if you haven’t read any of Terry Spears books and you pick up this book and start reading it you will still be able to understand everything going on because it can be read as a standalone.
I loved the plot, and I thought it was handled well. I loved that you have Eric Silver, an alpha but not the alpha in the Silvertown wolves, a Park Ranger meets Pepper Grayling who is Alpha of her own pack. When they finally get to meet and talk more about the similarities that they have, you will start to see their mate bond get stronger and stronger. Pepper isn’t sure if she wants another mate after her last one death, and Eric is not sure if he can love again like he did with his first mate. They get thrown together and learn to let things go that they cannot control and start a friendship that starts to lead them down the right path.
I liked the characters and I found them to be easy to relate to/connect with. I loved that Eric was understanding of Pepper and knowing that he has to play by her rules and take things one step at a time instead of pushing it like his wolf wanted. I loved that he understood that he would have to earn her trust. With Pepper I loved that she was a strong female character, that didn’t take BS from anyone. She stood up for what she wanted for her pack and herself. I found her to be really smart, sexy, yet at the same time she really wanted to be taken care of as well.
I can’t wait to see what the next book will be and who the characters will be about.

I loved that you have Eric Silver, an alpha but not the alpha in the Silvertown wolves, a Park Ranger meets Pepper Grayling who is Alpha of her own pack. When they finally get to meet and talk more about the similarities that they have, you will start to see their mate bond get stronger and stronger. Pepper isn’t sure if she wants another mate after her last one death, and Eric is not sure if he can love again like he did with his first mate. They get thrown together and learn to let things go that they cannot control and start a friendship that starts to lead them down the right path.
I liked the characters and I found them to be easy to relate to/connect with. I loved that Eric was understanding of Pepper and knowing that he has to play by her rules and take things one step at a time instead of pushing it like his wolf wanted. I loved that he understood that he would have to earn her trust. With Pepper I loved that she was a strong female character, that didn’t take BS from anyone. She stood up for what she wanted for her pack and herself. I found her to be really smart, sexy, yet at the same time she really wanted to be taken care of as well.
I can’t wait to see what the next book will be and who the characters will be about.

Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply by Terry Spear is a paranormal shapeshifter romance that showcases the strength of a female lead. Alpha wolf Eric Silver, a Law Enforcement Park Ranger, crosses paths with Forester Pepper Greystock while investigating suspicious criminal activity in the national forest. Their instant interest and attraction are overshadowed by past traumas and present danger. The story unfolds into a slow yet sizzling romance, with a strong female lead that will leave you feeling empowered and inspired.
This book is a thrilling ride from start to finish. The shapeshifter romance, especially with alpha wolves, is a surefire hook. The two alphas and a truly strong female main character had me invested in the story. The fast-paced narrative kept me engaged and excited, making it impossible to put the book down. You can easily finish this short book in a couple of hours or even less, thanks to its gripping pace.
I loved the two main characters. I loved how the author did not feel the need to make the male character strong and leading but instead had the female character make decisions for her pack. Also, I loved that the female MC had the strength and courage to get into fights and come out winning. I loved the maturity in the characters and the effort they put in to discuss or at least allow each other the space to make independent decisions where required.
The romance was a slow burn initially, with some sizzle towards the end, which felt perfect. If I had one problem with the book, the danger surrounding the MCs felt quite contrived. The plotline of the criminal activity and its impact on the MCs felt weak and could have been done away with and replaced with something else if the author wanted to show anguish to bring the MCs together. This fake danger made the book's ending feel rushed, which did not go well with me. However, despite this, I liked the book and am giving it 3 stars out of 5.

This is the first ever Terry Spear book I've read but it won't be my last. You have Eric is a wolf shifter and park ranger who was out looking for criminals in the park where her works and he happens to come upon an injured pack member of Pepper who's the Alpha of her own pack who happens to camping at one the cabins in the park. They have an almost instant attraction but you have another Alpha wolf who wants to be Pepper's mate for her pack and land to use for his own criminal purposes, so she has a lot on her plate while also not being sure if she wants another mate. Eric's determined to take things at Pepper's pace and play by her rules in order to see if there's a change of heart, even with the other Alpha wolf being a thorn in his and his packs side. In the end everything works out wonderfully for both Eric and Pepper especially since they really deserve it especially after dealing with the heartbreak of losing there first mates.
I look foward to reading more from this series and seeing what other books the author has written.

Usually I can't stand romances with alpha males. The alpha males are too controlling, close minded, and/or rude. Eric Silver is a pleasant surprise. He wants to lead, but he respects other people's opinions and points of view. He doesn't hesitate to fight but doesn't recklessly fight. Pepper is likable too. Sometimes books have heroines behave too fiesty and idiotically get into messes. Pepper is self-sufficient and stands her ground but also knows when to accept help. Pepper and Eric communicate well leading to a bond that develops through mutual respect. Steamy moments pull them together, but aren't the only reason they love each other.
Another aspect I liked was world building. It was interesting seeing werewolf - lupus garous- communication, pack dynamics, and keeping their existence secret.
The only downside of the story was the final confrontation with the enemy felt a bit anticlimatic to me. Besides that, I liked this as a sweet and suspenseful paranormal romance.

Fun, steamy, shifter paranormal with mystery and suspense. I enjoyed the mystery trying to find out who is involved in the nefarious doings in the park. Eric from Silver Pack and Forest Ranger sees Pepper Grayling who is Alpha of her own pack and we are off. Pepper is more than Alpha, her pack has a Christmas tree farm, and she is active in the forest botany. Both Eric and Pepper self evaluate, are open to learning as they build towards a mating. They provided steam and warm fuzzies. Alpha Wolf was informative, entertaining and enjoyable. If you read these series and felt like this was out of sequence its because the paperback came out May 3, 2016. I haven't read this before, but some of the characters mentioned here are at a different stage in their life presently:) Thank you for the opportunity to read and review. Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply by Terry Spear is the book that made me admit to myself something that I should have stopped reading her books a couple of books ago. I found the book tiresome and with the same snail's pace on the romance as most of her books have. In this book, I didn´t even think that the main characters should end up together because there weren´t many moments when they acted like a couple beforehand and it was mostly about Pepper not wanting an alpha in her life and Eric trying to convince her that they should be together while doing 3109834 other things at the same time. They were interesting on their own, but made zero sense as a couple. I don´t know how I fInished the book, but once I turned the final page, I made a promise to myself to not read from this author again because her writing style doesn´t fit with my reading one.

Read this as a lesbian in a "bad romance book" book club. It was not written for me. I understand that. I don't enjoy the werewolf trope. I probably shouldn't have read this but I did. I also read this book first. It was not my favorite dynamic between the characters. The kissing against the fridge scene is burned into my mind. My favorite character was Sarandon and I would like to believe that he is gay. I looked into it and there is a book that proves that wrong. I think I'm just going to stick with reading this book and hold onto my headcannon. Even though it wasn't my favorite I can tell the author really cares about these characters and their story. That was definitely a plus. I was not bored. I was captivated at what would come next... and a little horrified. There was a lot of talk about Eric's calves. Go off I guess.

He's found criminal activities being carried out in the park by wolf shifters that are not from a pack he knows. He must catch them before the human rangers do.

An action packed story from a series that follows the adventures of the Silver pack. Each of the stories can be read separately, but I think they will tempt you to buy them all. They have danger and romance in each one. They make you want to join the pack. Our the characters are strong, brave and committed to helping everyone.

I was really taken with the concept of two outdoorsy wolf shifters and the heroine being the Alpha of her back, but overall things were...fine. Maybe a little on the boring side.
The beginning is also highly distracting. The book is set in Colorado and the hero discovers a marijuana grow operation in the forest, referring to it as "illegal cannabis". The book was pubbed in 2016 and Colorado's marijuana legislation went into effect in 2014 (I believe). I had to put the book down and do a lot of googling on all the different sorts of laws in place in Colorado because the scene made a lot of vague generalizations when there is usually WAY MORE red tape to these sorts of things.
