Four mysteries, one for each season, that grasshopper Inspector Hopper must investigate. Easy to read for beginning readers and enjoyable.

I can visualize life-long lovers of mystery and detective novels beginning their love affair with the genre by reading the Inspector Hopper series. In this installment, Inspector Hopper must solve mysteries throughout the four seasons, and he does so with humor and charm. This book would be a great read aloud or alone.

CIP Summary:
None. From the book jacket: Mysteries can happen anythime, anywhere.

From Kirkus:
Cushman offers a second helping of good, just-this-side-of-goofy stories for beginning readers, featuring Inspector Hopper and McBugg, introduced in Inspector Hopper (2000). Hauntings and disappearances figure in this four-story collection...fine colors, merry gesticulations, everyday happenings, and doubtless the only mealy bug in existence that sports luxurious mustachios and a dapper bowler hat. (Easy reader. 4-8)

From School Library Journal:
Gr 1-3-In this appealing follow-up to Inspector Hopper (HarperCollins, 2000), the grasshopper sleuth and his sidekick, McBugg, investigate four mysteries, one for each season.

This is a cute book of mysteries, one for each season of the year. We enjoyed reading this book aloud together and with four mysteries, we had four chances to figure it out. Colorful illustrations and a simple narrative combine to make this a good book for beginning readers.

Sean-Paul has been choosing alot of these early/easy readers to "read himself". We also read them together and love to look at the great pictures. This is a cute series by Doug Cushman.

This is a nice easy to read mystery book for children. The book follows the grasshopper, Inspector Hopper, and his go to pal McBug on their adventure through the seasons. With each new season comes a new mystery. Such as the missing doctor in winter and others for the other seasons. This is a fun twist on a normal mystery taking kids down to a land of bugs and creatures as they solve crimes and mysteries. The book was definitely an easy read and could be considered an early elementary book. The vivid and bright colors allow the reader to be immerse. The story also allows the reader to learn more about the seasons and what goes on within a whole year. It was a good read and I would recommend this to a younger audience.

-Q1:Why does this story start from autumn? What do you think?
Q2:Where was the doctor in his house?

I wondered why does this story start from autumn, so it is my question.
I think that it is common order to start from spring to winter. It is interesting.
And there were many insects in this story, so I could learn many name of insects in English.
I used dictionary many times to know some insect's names even if this is very easy to read.
