About the author

Hector Malot was a French writer born in La Bouille, Seine-Maritime. He studied law in Rouen and Paris, but eventually literature became his passion. He worked as a dramatic critic for Lloyd Francais and as a literary critic for L'Opinion Nationale.
His first book, published in 1859, was Les Amants. In total Malot wrote over 70 books. By far his most famous book is Sans Famille (Nobody's Boy, 1878), which deals with the travels of the young orphan Remi, who is sold to the streetmusician Vitalis at age 10. Sans Famille gained fame as a children's book, though it was not originally intended as such.
He announced his retirement as an author of fiction in 1895, but in 1896 he returned with the novel L'amour Dominateur as well as the account of his literary life Le Roman de mes Romans (The Novel of my Novels).

Un peu décevant.
Parcourir la France (et même Londres) avec Rémi et sa troupe est une belle aventure, malheureusement le dénouement est non seulement très prévisible mais trop facile à mon goût. [Spoiler] Tout les problèmes sont résolu comme par enchantement alors que le reste du livre est quand même très sombre et sommes toutes assez réaliste quant à la vie d'un pauvre orphelin du XIXème siècle. (Bon il lui arrive beaucoup de choses mais ça reste un roman jeunesse). J'aurais préféré que le livre soit un peu plus long pour une fin plus naturelle..
Ca reste une histoire touchante et un classique du genre.

Ps: Dans cette édition il y a des illustrations de musiciens noir disons.. un peu daté. A bon entendeur.

vraiment j'adore ce roman , j'était dans mon imagination avec Rémi dans les rues de Paris et a l'Angletaire , j'avais peur quand il a passé sa preumiere nuis chéz les Driscoll, et j'était vraiment joyeuse quand il a trouvé sa vrai famille et que sa mére était mme Méligan . J'ai tout vis dans cette histoire , je m'étais enfui plusieures fois du réalité pour me trouver dans un autre monde , le monde de Rémi en France . Je remecie cet écrivain pour ce bouquin agréable .

Je dois l’avouer, la finale m’a fait verser quelques larmes de joie!

C’est larmoyant, et comme on dit au Québec, c’est « quétaine », mais ça reste un très beau récit, palpitant, plein de rebondissements, et pas toujours prévisible.

Le passage de la mine est quasiment un roman en soi. Ca m’a donné le goût de me tourner vers Germinal de Zola (qui a été inspiré du même cas réel).

Un beau, bon roman. Je relirai ça un jour.

Avec ce tome on arrive à la fin des aventures de Rémi.
J'était heureuse pour Rémi qui a réussi à trouver sa vraie famille.

C'est une belle histoire des aventures et voyages d'un enfant abandonné. Une histoire d'amitié, d'honneur et d'amour. C'est aussi la dénonciation du travail des enfants à la fin du XIXe siècle. C'est le premier livre en Français que j'ai lu, et je l'ai trouvé facile à lire. Je l'ai beaucoup aimé.
