This book is an anthology of articles about the social construction of different forms of space and place i.e. places/spaces sometimes excluded for certain groups of people due to privatization of public spaces, or are inscribed differently by different cultures, social theories, myths - scientific, political or socio-cultural or even through tourist activities. It also discussed spaces that are racialized/ are trans-national and gendered. Overall its a great introduction to the vastness of the field of anthropology-sociology-geography around space and place - creation of public spaces - and urban form.

I completely recommend it for people interested in the creating better places/ spaces and who is interested in understanding what makes a social-public space.
