Title for title this book has more than enough aircraft to choose from. My favorite is the Kaman islands Seasprite a search and rescue helicopter with anti-submarine capabilities. We have planes featured which could take off at a moments notice to deliver passengers, cargo, personnel for dangerous missions or bombs for air strikes. Any pilot could go Lockheed Martin to Father Martin Ashley at mach 3 but in which plane.
There is also diagrams to look at to give the reader an idea of what I am looking at. What goes into the design of the aircraft and what's behind it. The make and model of each aircraft is listed along with it's sales history and most of the specs.
The one thing it doesn't share is the pilots experience in the cockpit. Which is rather disappointing, plus it makes for a nice conversation piece to keep on a den shelf or the like.
They're handing out hockey numbers, so keep your head above water. What with all the torpedo's and depth charges it's open season on the submarines.

Judge and Jury-

American Military Aircraft. a Century of Innovation, by Jim Winchester, is an expertly crafted encyclopedia that provides the reader with an account of every plane used by the United States military from World War I, to the present. At nearly 450 pages, this book contains an extensive amount of knowledge of each plane including infographics that detail specific operations, charts that compare the aircraft to similar planes, and statistics that show the specifications of the airplane. On the page about the Boeing-Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight, for example, the reader would find an infographic explaining a hypothetical rescue in Grenada, a pictograph representing different troop carrying capacities of contemporary helicopters, and a table with the Sea Knight’s specifications, such as length and maximum speed (Winchester 78-79). In the center of each page, is a masterfully written academic piece that explains the history and purpose of each aircraft, while using technical jargon used in the aeronautical industry. Finally, the focal point of the page is composed of an image showing one or several views of the subject aircraft in vivid detail. This method of organization allows any reader to learn about and appreciate the planes shown on each page.

As an avid aeronautics enthusiast, I had been searching for a book exactly like American Military Aircraft, for over five years. When I discovered this encyclopedia, I immediately knew I had to buy it, as it fit all my criteria for a perfect book about aviation. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning about aviation or the United States military, as the book appeals to readers with an advanced understanding of aeronautics and a casual reader trying to introduce themselves to the world of flight. Before I read the book, I thought I knew everything there was about aviation, but I was immediately taught something new on the first few pages. All-in-all, American Military Aircraft. A Century of Innovation, is an impeccably written piece non-fiction.
