They thought it was only a short love affair... Leandro Salazar, Conde de Parama, knew he had found the woman who will be his perfect mistress-sexy and wild in bed. But as soon as the summer ended the woman he made as his mistress vanished from the face of the earth as he had just imagined her. Now a few weeks later he saw reports that she's already married to another man. No one played the fool to Leandro Salazar he will have his revenge on this heartless woman!
But they got it wrong... Leila Fiorenza never thought that few weeks of freedom before her marriage would result in a full-blown affair with the most gorgeous man she'd ever seen. But her runaway escapade resulted to put her twin sister in chaos with her rebellion against her father's command. It's time to go back to her real world-the world she desperately left behind. Even if means leaving the man who might be the love of her life. But they both need to face the consequence of their affair that will change their lives forever.
- Ah, Marco. Still sarcastic as ever. I love his silly antics. He made every book more entertaining.
- Leila's behavior toward Leandro was irritating. She was behaving like they didn't have a good affair. Most importantly, neither the guy did anything to deserve such a rude behavior nor did they ended their relationship on bad terms. Leila was the one who ran away from him out of the blue. So why the heck she was persistent that their marriage wouldn't work or they would get divorce. She even agreed to enter a loveless platonic marriage with someone else. But suddenly had a problem to marry the father of the child whom she had an actual affair with. Wow! To think I actually liked her in The Substitute Bride However, not anymore because of her childish behavior.
- The book cover is hot though! At least the one I'm reviewing is.
- I disliked Natalia. Ugh! I was glad however childishly Leila behaved, she actually managed to put Natalia in her place. Gosh! The slap was epic!
- Ruby and Roman from 'Ruby's Secret' were introduced in this book. The restaurant scene. Leila's new bestie. Lmfao! If you read that book, you'll know what I mean. I read their book and I think I enjoyed it if I remember correctly. Also, Lucia and Diego from Lucia and the Bodyguard were introduced in this book as well. But I am not interested in their book. I read it but didn't really care for the couple which was why I ended up not enjoying it. Beside I think at that time, I thought Lucia was pathetic. Just like Rafe. And didn't like Diego as a main protagonist either.
- I liked Juan.
- What I didn't like about Leandro was that he let his brother's wife live in the same house knowing she was pining for him. Heck, he should've taken actions as soon as the widow confronted him for the first time about marrying Leila instead of marrying her. WTF? And yeah, there were other time as well. What's wrong with this dude? His relation was still fragile with Leila yet he didn't bother to sort this mess out. And he was a billionaire Count? Could someone be really this stupid? He did rectify the situation but I felt like it was a bit late. Then again, better late than never.
- I didn't like the way Leila approached Leandro with the topic about his mother. I understand she wanted to help but she crossed a line. Specially when she didn't even accept him as her husband fully to meddle in this forbidden topic.
- After learning about Cesare's past with his wife, I felt so bad for him. Loved his jabs towards Nikos and Leandro. Lol!
- It was quite funny how Nikos was still bitter towards Leandro for what he did mistakenly.
Okay, I'm gonna stop re-reading this series here as I know what happened to the other books. Not a fan of those couples. This one was my least favorite one out of the first four books I read. It was an okay read. For some reason, I know I'll remember this series forever. I may actually re-read it more often in the future.
When I was reading The Substitute Bride, I already had a hunch that I won't probably like this one. I don't like rebellious characters who have the tendency to be unreasonable. I prefer characters who are logical and could think more about the situation and their action, which is why I loved Laila. Leila on the other hand is the rebellious sister, and before even reading her book, my head was already aching when thinking about her. She was surprisingly an entertaining female lead though, and I loved her strong personality. I also love how she cares so much about her sister, their relationship is adorable.
In the first few chapters, I could see the unreasonable rebel character I was expecting, but she wasn't so extreme, so it's tolerable. Her thoughts were funny, and it's even more funny when her attempts failed. Then I understood why Leila was so certain about her conclusions in her mind that she was so stubborn with her situation. I can't blame her since she and Leandro never really opened up about things in their relationship.
And speaking of the male lead, he's a bit irritating. To be honest, I loved how the other characters scolded him for abducting Laila and thinking of taking Leila away. It made them so real. If Leila's level of unreasonableness can be tolerated, Leandro is simply over the top, especially because he had power and authority. Plus, I'm not sure if he's just low on emotional intelligence, or he just really didn't care enough about some things in their situation that others even pointed out to him. He forced Leila to marry and live with him, but he himself couldn't really take care of her. Leila and the other people around him already pointed out his sister-in-law who he had a past with and is still thinking about him, and the fact that she's still living with them. When this woman talked to him about Leila, who is his wife, I couldn't believe how confused of a man he is. He can't even maintain his wife in front of his ex lover who's talking bad about her. No wonder the sister-in-law still has some delusions about him, Leandro is not a decisive character and just lets her be with whatever she says to him. And Leila being unable to trust him is really understandable, especially when she overheard their conversation and understood how worthless her husband is. It took him almost the end of the book to finally clarify his relationship with the sister-in-law and kick her out of the manor. He deserved to be tossed over by Leila throughout the story, and to be honest, he doesn't really deserve her, it's just that she actually fell in love with him.
The problem they had with their parents made me cry, especially when Leila apologized to her dad for thinking that it's his fault why their mom died. This hurt so bad and I wish it was given more attention in the book because this had so much impact on Leila's character. It is one of the reasons that caused her rebelliousness and strong rejection to certain things.
All in all, this book was an entertaining read and I loved Leila more than I thought I would. This child needed so much love and assurance, it's a pity that Leandro couldn't provide this to her much earlier in the story.

Not my type of book, but I really tried reading it all to the last page because a friend gifted this to me. If you guys are into working adults acting like horny teenager brats, then this might be for you.
Strong points(the ones that I remember) that made me lose interest in this book:
1. Surprise. Everyone in this book is good-looking! And rich! What did I expect from a Wattpad book? They're all Mary sues and Gary sues.
2. Leandro basically forced Leila into marriage. But I guess he's given free pass since he's the Spanish count and he's hot. You think that's romantic? No. What if he was some ugly buffoon with stinking armpits? What if he weighed 100 kg? What if he had rotting teeth and unshaven facial hair ? It sounded to me that the reason why he wanted to marry her is because they had a great compability in bed. And that they were even in aspects or something. When they were arguing, all he could think was to fuck her. Wow, goals.
3. Leila, some stuck-up feminist who dresses and thinks like a 10 year old in her rebellious emo phase. Seriously, grow up girl. She wore some scandalous shirt and short shorts on the first day she stayed at Leandro's. I get what she means by "I'm me, I get to dress for who I am". But you're pregnant, and you're at your hubby's who has a reputation that should be protected because he has a large importance in Spain. Natalia sure was a bitch, but she wasn't wrong about her not thinking properly.
4. Poor, poor Rafe. His family was about to go bankrupt, and ofc Leila should've had a proper talk with him about the situation. And then they do talk on the phone in Leandro's car. Guess what Leandro does? Yeah, he chucks out her phone when they were seriously talking. Because he's the husband, Leila doesn't have any good reason to talk to her ex-fiance. But oh she does. She fucking does. Leia gets mad, but only because her phone was thrown outside. Are you fucking kidding me?
Chapter 6, and I just wanted to stop reading. I only continued because like I said earlier, this was a gift from a friend. Best thing I could do is reach up to chap 14.
You could do better than that author, I know you can.

It's a good book, in my opinion. But somehow, I felt that everything was going by too fast. Furthermore, the author did more 'telling' than 'showing' which saddens me.
On the contrary, I did like the romance that transpired between the protagonist and main character. It did show a bit of character development and I liked how the author showed the established relationships of the characters with one another. There is nothing more I like than showing the state of the characters' relationships. Again though, Leandro's relationship with his mom and how fast it happened saddened me. I would have liked it if the author told us how they felt, better yet, made us feel what the character is going through.
Overall, good book but it could have been better :))
Terrible. Dnf'd it on chapter 8. I hate that the main heroine is branded as a strong independent woman but immediately falls for the rape-y schemes of the male lead. It was also kinda funny how she asks him if he feels trapped in their marriage due to her pregnancy when SHE'S the one who's trapped.
[The judgement is based on my reading review from back in 2019]
Leila. Leila. Leila.
My comfort character. My absolute favorite. The girl with whom I'd be best friends with if she was real.
Leandro Salazar, would you be my another fictional husbands? I'm dying to be Mrs. Salazar in here.
The chemistry is just bomb. The way they challenge each other and the intense tension and angst is what I live for. Loved this book just as much I loved 'The Substitute Bride'.
Leila is pure fire!! I really enjoy her strong heart and the way she defense her self and her sister. Leandro is also really strong man and passionate.. I enjoy this one and Laila's book the Fiorenza's twins are my kind of girls.
One of my go-to rereads. It is not as good as "Substitute Bride", but you do get the big mouth twin sister from that book in this book. You totally believe the relationship, and you follow the characters through all the emotions.
