When Meckenzie Braith bolted from Broken Heart, and the muscled arms of gorgeous loup de sang Ren Marchand, she promised herself that she’d give up thievery and create a life on the right side of the law.
It was a promise she kept for 8.2 seconds.
To be fair, she was using her skills for righting wrongs. She no longer accepted money for her efforts, and considered stealing for good causes as penance for previous bad life decisions.
Okay, okay. She befriended paranormal orphans who helped her with heists, but she was trying to reform them. Really.
Then Meckenzie and her gang steal from the wrong paranormal (for the right reason, of course) and end up running for their lives.
The only place she knows where she can protect herself and her charges is the paranormal community of Broken Heart, Oklahoma. The problem? She deceived the entire town, including the vampire queen.
But to save the kids who depend on her, Meckenzie will face head-on the people she betrayed—and the blood wolf she left behind.

The blurb currently listed on Goodreads for this title is not correct, but that's ok. The retail sites have the correct one. As for the title I don't think it fits the story; since the only Lycan featured is Ash's friend and he is a secondary character.
This story is about Ash & Jarod. Both characters have been featured previously in the Broken Heart series as secondary characters, now they get their own story. It's been a while since I've read a Broken Heart series book. This one was not the best, but enjoyable enough. The author does a nice job recapping information you need, so you can enjoy this story on it's own.
The adventure was exciting and kept the story going. As for the romance it was fast and quick with no time to really develop the romance from lust to love. The characters are drawn to each other and have the lust, but I never felt that lust turn into more.
I had delightful time reading this story. It's a quick read.
It was good. Seemed short which I'm fine with, except they didn't really have any build up. They should have had a struggle bigger than her reluctance. It felt more like an arrangement than a love match. I might remember her but I've already forgotten him.
My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I bought this book through a boxed set I own Hearts of Darkness, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have also bought the rest of the series to read in paperback when it gets here!! Woohoo!!
The cover is definitely represents Ash, and I like the cartoon theme of Michele’s covers because they are uniquely awesome!
This is the 14th book in the Broken Heart series, and it is for adults only due to the content. No problems picking up this book and reading it out of order, but my mind may change as I read the rest of the series.
I really liked Ash especially her attitude and her best-friend / business partner who is a lycan because he is hilarious! Ash is protective of those people she claims, but she also has a lot of baggage in her past that you learn about. Jarod is interesting, but I still don’t feel like I know much about him yet. They do well together. There is plenty of action with demons and treachery.
I can’t wait to read more of this series in the future because so far I’ve enjoyed everything that I’ve read and look forward to reading more!
I recommend this book to paranormal fans who like variety and lots going on!
Insta-love on steroids even by the standards of Michele Bardsley's Broken Heart series. Boy sneaks up on girl, she feels attracted to him, he keeps showing up, and then she kinda gets used to him? Doesn't really make a difference if one of them is a soul sucking supe and the other was created to be her mate. I usually pick up a Broken Hearts novel when I want something light and uplifting. Guess this novella achieved that even if it got dark in certain places. The ending was cutesy too. And btw, this IS a novella even if it's being marketed as a full-length novel.
This is a part of the Broken Heart series and in this story you finally get to see what happens with Ash the Destroyer and Jarod Dante who we have previously met in some of the earlier books in this series. I was really looking forward to seeing what would happen to these characters and I’m just not sure what happened with this book it was okay but it wasn’t her best. The author usually just drags me in and I just don’t want to put her books down but this book just had something off about it and I can’t quite put a finger on it. I’m hoping that she gets it back in the next book in the series.
I read about Ash and Jared in earlier books. I liked both characters and hoped to meet them again. This is their story. Lilith, Connor's demon stepmother also puts in an appearance in this book. You'll be happy to learn what happens to her.
I have enjoyed binging on the latter part of the series. Even though I have not yet read the beginning of this series, the books are easy to follow and a joy to read.
Reviewers are right this book was short and the length did not allow the romance to build but I still enjoyed it very much. i have read all in this series and they all are a fun read.
I love the Broken Heart series, but this one was disappointing. It is not the same story as the Kindle version, which is the promised Ren/Meckenzie story, but rather a re-worked version of Ash's story from "Broken Heart Tails". I'm not sure the addition of the love story involving Jarod Dante was worth the re-write, although it's interesting to see some of Bardsley's writing processes at the end, with deleted characters and reworked scenes.
There were also several distracting proofreader misses.
Hopefully, the Ren/Meckenzie story will be published in print soon - I'd love to read it!
This was a major disappointment for me. I really like this series and some have been better than others but I think this was the worst for me unfortunately. Since it was so short it wasnt worth 4.99 for just a bit over 100 pages. I was looking forward to Ash and Jarrod but I felt they got shafted! I'm done with the series so I guess it doesnt matter at this point. I dont recommend.
Ash is a tormented woman, whose past has scripted her into a kick ass warrior. When she meets Jarrod her life will change, and she will have to fight an evil unlike Amy's eh has seen before, in order to save the world. Will she succeed?
There was no real substance to this book. I have read the same story line in other books. Demon hunter, gay best friend and love interest, not original material.
I love this series. Wonderful plot with great characters and they carry through out the series. It is best to read the series in order. Highly recommended
