***THIS VOLUME IS OUT OF STOCK IN OUR US OFFICE AND WILL BE BACKORDERED AND SHIPPED UPON ARRIVAL*** Romans 12 shows us Christian men and women living out the new life given to them in Christ in relationship with their fellows in the church, exercising the gifts they have received, wrestling with problems and opposition, but finally triumphing over all difficulties through the faith, hope and love that underlie all truly Christian conduct.
David Martyn Lloyd-Jones was a Welsh Protestant minister, preacher and medical doctor who was influential in the Reformed wing of the British evangelical movement in the 20th century. For almost 30 years, he was the minister of Westminster Chapel in London. Lloyd-Jones was strongly opposed to Liberal Christianity, which had become a part of many Christian denominations; he regarded it as aberrant. He disagreed with the broad church approach and encouraged evangelical Christians (particularly Anglicans) to leave their existing denominations. He believed that true Christian fellowship was possible only amongst those who shared common convictions regarding the nature of the faith.
MLJ is the go to for me. His words on tribulation and how that works in the Christian life is so good! All of his Romans books have been amazing! Highly recommended, just sad there are only two left
I originally picked this up to help me better understand a few verses in Romans 12. But, I ended up reading the whole thing and found much treasure and joy in it! I love the work and ministry of Dr Martyn Lloyd Jones, and this commentary opened my eyes to deeper realities of the Gospel, God's love and mercy shown through Christ, and the deep and important call on the Christian life, particularly within the local church. I saw depths of my own sin, came to understand truths I hadn't before and overall enjoyed the reading of this COMMENTARY very much! ha! You'd think an entire commentary on one chapter would be redundant and unnecessary, but it left me wanting to know more of the depths of truth that Paul lays out in the book of Romans, even so, in Chapter 12. I found this accessible and very readable and would recommend to any person wanting to know their bible better--- not just to the scholarly.
Another classic in the Romans series. I have found this series of great personal use, rather than use for sermon preparation - although it has helped in the latter. This exposition of Romans 12 is deep, challenging and stimulating. I wish every Christian living today would read it. If we put this into practice, what a difference that would make in our lives. Highly recommended.
"I believe that from the standpoint of evangelism there is nothing more important than the life lived by Christian people"
Just finished volume 12 of Dr. Lloyd-jones sermons on The Apostle Paul's letter to the Romans, this being vol 12, covering Romans ch 12. I have no hesitation in saying that spiritually this series of DMLJ on Romans, has been the single biggest help to me, and food for my soul. I treasure every volume, and every chapter in each volume. I'm starting vol. 13, and then after that, there's only one more volume. Then, God-willing, I'll start on the Ephesians series, much of which I've read before. Every Christian would be helped and fed by these precious volumes on Romans.
