Shaped, die-cut, picture-changing pages add a subtly interactive element to this peaceful, rhyming bedtime book from Priddy Books. Say "Night, night" and turn the page to watch the animals transform from being awake to asleep.
It’s nighttime down on the farm. The animals are in the barn and it’s time to say a soft and cozy, "Night, night." Say goodnight to the horse, the dog, and all their farm friends, as you turn the shaped pages and watch as the animals go to sleep, one by one. The gentle rhymes and sleepy tone make Night Night Farm perfect for settling your little one into bed and ending with your own, quiet, "Night, night."
With irresistibly sweet illustrations and a magical sky of glow-in-the-dark stars, Night Night Farm is the perfect way to end the day.

This book has become a staple of Jack’s bedtime routine. He loves looking at the farm animals, especially the horse and the chicks, and trying to turn the pages. I think the illustrations and story are super sweet, and I love the farm theme because I grew up in the country.
My only negative comment is that it is really hard to get the glow in the dark stars to light up on the last page. But right now, Jack is too young to care about that, so it doesn’t really matter.
I read this book at least once a day. I’m impressed by the small details in the illustrations, such as the sky being slightly darker on each page as the book goes on and evening is approaching. The rhymes are a very balanced mix of flowing well out loud but not getting stuck in your head. The “half-page-flaps” are an creative way to switch things up. Well written. Nice to look at. Not your typical barnyard book. 10/10

This is the only book that my 9 month old will reliably pay attention to every single time. Simple rhymes, cute pictures, and glow in the dark stars make it a favorite.
Original review 5/2024: 4/5 stars Updates review 11/2024: 5/5 stars, also I have no memory of reading this the first time Updated review 2/2026: 5/5 stars, Stella loves this book and is a big fan of the different shaped pages. She pulls this one out every single night now.
Illustrations: I'm led to believe that children in general enjoy books with panels whose turning reveals new things. This book contains such panels which will no doubt be entertaining. In other ways the illustrations are non-descript, cute, child appropriate illustrations of farm animals.
Words: The book proceeds predictably through the various farm animals who must make their way to their beds and settle down for the night. In that regard it fits in to the genre of soothing bedtime books which not-so-subtly send the message to the child that they too should be prepared to go to sleep. In that sense it is dull in the extreme, but necessarily so for the purpose for which it was intended. What irritated me and took the edge off of the dullness was the failure of the rhymed text to fulfill the meter expectations for each "verse". Often the text ends a full foot short of what the reader expects: Horse is getting warm and snug Underneath a wooly rug What a cozy place to stay Night, night, Horse. "Neigh neigh." Each line up until the final line has seven syllables and that final line has only five. As far as I can determine the pigs are the only animals which manage to have rhythmically ideal quartet. Other quartets jam additional syllables in other lines and most still fail to have more than five syllables in the final line. Perhaps this is petty of me to note. My husband laughed at me when I pointed it out so likely it is not something most would find consequential. In really excellent literature, breaking patterns of meter and rhyme keep the reader on their toes, deliberately destroy illusions. Such decisions can be artistically made, even I believe, in children's literature. However, this book does not aim to break conventions or even push them. It is supposed to lull. So lull better.

First off let me start off by saying that we LOVE this book in my family. My daughter is 2 years old and this is definitely top 5 of her favorite bedtime books to have read to her.
The story is cute, the illustrations are gorgeous, and she loves doing all of the animal sounds in the book.
Now, let me tell you what we absolutely HATE about this book, the black text on the dark colors. It’s so difficulty to see the words in any scenario where you’re not in a brightly lit room. And, this is a BEDTIME book, no one is reading a bedtime book in a room with bright lights, the lights are low because we’re trying to get our children ready to sleep and we can’t read any of the words in this book.
Please, please, PLEASE reprint this book with bordered text. Black text it GREAT as long as the letters have white or a brightly colored border to that people can see what they’re reading in low to mid light situations. Change that one thing and this a hands down a 5 star books.
Currently, this book is consistently the last of three stories my children wish to read before falling to sleep. It's a fine little book that allows them to interact with whilst I narrate the sweet lyrics. By the last page both of my little ones are yawning, so a job well done Mr Priddy!
This book is a great read! It's very simple and easy to memorize. My daughter loves the way the pages are divided and she turns the pages her self. She will actively bring me this book to read her at night or any other time.
Nice sturdy book with fun cut outs and different shaped pages. It’s kind of dark but not too terrible. The images are still clear. The story is cute and my baby enjoyed turning the pages.
bought this book for my best friend's daughter (2 years old at the time) for christmas and even after a year it is still a big favorite of hers that requires at least one read every time i visit. cute book for any child who likes farm animals.
Simple with bright pictures, saying goodnight to different farm animals. My son's favorite part are the flip pages that show the animals awake on one side and asleep on the other. This has been a big hit at our house for the past two weeks. Now back to the library it goes.
