I feel his emotions in living color. As if they are my own.

If he’s angry, I rage with him. If he’s grieving, I do too. When he thinks about the past, I’m right there, walking beside him. I am the window to his soul, and yet, in spite of that, he’s a riddle with no solution.

A puzzle with too many missing pieces.

We always want what we can’t have. All I wanted was some peace and quiet. To fall in love with someone untouched by the magic of Woodland Creek. I craved normalcy.

But not as much as I craved him.

When he returns to town a broken hero, there’s no choice to be made. I will reach him when no one else can. Together, we will face a future he doesn’t want.

Why? Because our love is pure magic.

Willow our heroine is an empathy. She owns and runs a diner in Woodland Creek. I adored Willow from the start, and we quickly learn that despite her ability she is often lonely and craves normalcy.

Quinn Dearborn is a lifetime resident of Woodland Creek, who despite a chance at a promising football college career ended up joining the service. He has returned now a broken fragment of the confident young man he was. Quinn is struggling with PTSD and after months of promises, he finally joins his old high school friends for breakfast at the diner. His emotional state has a physical effect on Willow and she in turn calms him just with her presence.

Moen did a wonderful job of introducing us to the characters. I adored Willow’s friends and the banter between them. A grumpy old man who dines at the diner and hates small talk offered clues to helping Willow and Quinn. Quinn was sexy and adorkable all at the same time. The two of then experienced some bumps, but none of the drama was drawn out making their relationship feel genuine.

The tale that unfolds offered a wonderful, slow-building romance wrapped in a mystery surrounding Quinn. Woodland Creek is a fascinating town, as are the supernatural families who reside there. Once I slipped into the story, I never wanted to leave. The climactic reveal and final scenes had me twisted in a knot, holding my breath and crossing my fingers. It was brilliant and while foreshadowing gave us subtle clues the how and why came together effortlessly. The ending left me with a smile and wanting more stories set in this world.

Dearborn offered a delightful tale in a world I would love to visit repeatedly.

I love Jenni Moen’s writing because we can see it comes from her heart! She is a truly gifted author and Dearborn is another example of it! I love authors that write in more than one “niche”. Dearborn is a book with a paranormal twist, but it could just well be a contemporary romance!

I loved that I could relate to the characters and now I want to know more about them!!

Quin is mysterious and caring and all kinds of hot and Willow is a great female lead. She has such an inner strength about her!

I liked that there was time for them to fall in love, even though they’ve known each other for years. This is not a case of an insta-love kind of book and I love that! I always enjoy when I have the time to fall in love with the characters along with them!

I really liked the mystery behind the story, how everything was connected and how the pieces fit in the right places! I had some theories and the story still surprised me. I LOVE being surprised about stories and plots!!

Even though this story has the PRN (paranormal) thing going on, I wouldn’t categorize it as a PRN book. It has a PRN twist, but this story could happen to any of us. And that is one of my favorite things about Jenni’s writing, her ability to make us relate to the story and make it sound (and feel) so real!

Coming November 15: DEARBORN

A contemporary romance with a paranormal twist.

description

EXCERPT:

He chuckled, low and throaty. “Yeah.”

When I forced my eyes back to his face, I found him carefully watching me as if he was trying to gauge what I was thinking. A small smile pulled at the corners of his mouth.

“Let me help.” My voice was breathless. I needed to get a grip. He was just a man.

A very wet, very handsome, very sexy man. But still just a man. It wasn’t as if I’d never been around a man before.

I blotted at his face with the dry towel, taking care to get the water out of the fuzzies of his beard. The towel slipped from my fingers, but they remained on his face, brushing lightly against the coarse bristly hair. The feel of them against my fingertips was as if someone defibrillated my already racing heart.

I stared at the lips he’d denied me the night before.

They twitched as desire coiled around us, begging one of us to make the first move.

It would have to be him. After last night, I wouldn’t make the first move.

Kiss me, Quinn. Kiss me so I’ll know. Don’t turn away again.

He sat still as a tree, and I held my breath, waiting for him to bend. My hand slipped from his beard and trailed down his neck. Apparently, it hadn’t gotten the memo that we were waiting for Quinn to make the first move.

“Willow?” he muttered.

It was only my name, but it held every question I didn’t want him to ask, every doubt I didn’t want him to acknowledge.

Dearborn is something new and different from Jenni Moen. We follow Willow, an amazing woman with an incredible gift as she navigates her feelings for Quinn, the one man she's always had her heart set on.

I have to say this is one of the best paranormal romances I've ever read. The push and pull in the story isn't because of some trivial misunderstanding, but magic at play that makes their need and want for each other more difficult but not impossible.

Keeping with that 'Jenni Moen Flare' we know and love she doesn't disappoint with twists and turns that leave your mouth gaping and your heart hammering in your chest. This is one I will re-read again and again. Definitely a new favorite. Great job Jenni. If you love Paranormal romance, or want to take a chance on something different. This is for you!

(Rabid Reads) 4.5/5 stars A small town full of supernatural beings? Of course, I wanted to read it. So when Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviews recommended this read, I was all over it. I am amazed that I had not heard of these books before, simply because there are so many of them, written by lots of different authors, and they all take place in the magical town of Woodland Creek.

Willow has spent her life in Woodland Creek. She inherited a diner and the house that went along with it, and now runs it. Her best friend is Ryan, a bear shifter, with the added gift of mind reading, and he is also the diner’s cook. On Willow’s part, she is an empath and can feel peoples emotions and see auras. When her major crush from high school, Quinn, walks into her diner after a fifteen year absence, his emotions and rainbow colored aura, literally makes her sick. He’s home from Afghanistan, his career over due to PTSD, and he’s a war hero. Quinn is a very broken man, a far cry from the popular, fun loving, boy he once was. When he agrees to help Willow with the renovation of her historical home, in order to get it ready for Ryan’s wedding, the two find the friendship that blossomed, but never went anywhere in high school. This time it does, but it’s not without it’s problems.

Willow was the perfect heroine for this well written story. She’s strong willed, smart, ambitious, and has a good heart. She sees Quinn again and immediately wants to help him overcome all his psychological problems-among other things. On Quinn’s part, he was planning on leaving Woodland Creek the day he visited the diner, but didn’t(couldn’t)after meeting Willow again. He knows how broken he is, and he has secrets that even he doesn’t understand. The last thing he wants to do is inflict all of that on Willow, but of course he can’t help himself.

I liked how the town was split between the people with magic and the ones without. And the ones without pretty much knew nothing about the magic. If they did, then hunting in the surrounding forest might have been abolished, but it hasn’t been. The towns shifter population have to be careful during the different hunting seasons-to say the least. The ley lines that run through the town guarantee that the supernatural will always be drawn there.

For me, this was a wonderful paranormal romance, filled with all sorts of magic, shifters, wizardry, and there’s probably all sorts of other things that don’t necessarily happen in this book, but might in another installment. I believe that these are all standalone, but I could be wrong, as this is my first foray into this world these authors have created. But it certainly won’t be my last. If you love adult paranormal romance, I would definitely recommend that this is one that’s not to be missed.

I think Jenni Moen nailed it with her spin on shifter/parnanormal romance. Dearborn blends reality with a truly magical place beautifully through solid characters and fabulous storytelling.
There's a place called Woodland Creek that holds more secrets than the average small town. Some people who live there are different. Willow Ryker is more different than most, feeling and seeing emotions unlike anyone else. And even though she loves everything different about her life and her town, she's craved something normal since she was a teenager. Something normal was really a someone: Woodland Creek's football star Quinn Dearborn. But it's not until years later that they wind up connecting in an unexpected way.
She feels the turmoil surrounding him, knows the pain of coming home from war, the sorrow of losing the life he's led for so long.
"We were a match made in heaven or hell, but I wanted him regardless."
Quinn's life is no longer his own. He struggles with returning to his hometown, with living. When he runs into Willow Ryker again, a spark of who he used to be appears, someone who hasn't been around for a long time. It's her kindness and beauty that make him stay, the reason he chooses to find himself again and possibly discover who he was meant to be all along.
"It was all because of her. Everything I was and everything I would become was because of her."
I really don't want to say more because I don't want to give anything away.
I was caught up in Willow and Quinn's world and didn't want to leave. It's emotional, mystical, and I just loved everything about it.

Jenni has written a wonderful shifter romance. Dearborn grabbed my attention and never let go. It is well-written, flows smoothly, and has twists and turns to keep the story interesting. The characters are all likable and I can definitely see more books being written about them. In particular, I think Clive would be a very interesting story.

Quinn and Willow are an intriguing couple. They appear so different from each other but looks can be deceiving. It was interesting watching Willow experience The Dearborn Effect. Quinn was such a refreshing leading man. He was used to being an alpha male in the military. Responsible for leading dangerous missions. With Willow he was different. He didn't need to be the alpha in their relationship. He was sweet, sensitive, romantic and still a manly man. Perfect combination for my kind of man.

Dearborn is part of The Woodland Creek Series. A collection of stories written by many authors that take place in the town of Woodland Creek. I don't know if Jenni plans on writing more books in this series but I certainly hope so. She is a terrific author and Dearborn is an awesome story. Not only do I highly, enthusiastically recommend reading Dearborn, I recommend reading all of the books written by Jenni Moen.

Title: Dearborn
Author: Jenni Moen
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Format: Ebook
Pages: 304
Rating: 4.5/5

Setting: Woodland Creek

Main Characters: Willow and Quinn

Main Supporting Characters: Ryan

Summary: Willow is an empath that in high school had a crush on Quinn. Quinn returns to Woodland Creek, 15 years after joining the military, a broken man. Willow sees his emotions like a light show around him and realizing that she still has a crush on him, feels drawn to him and wants to help.

Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. I loved how I didn't find everything out right away, which kept me reading and wanting to know more. I loved the characters (I would love to read more of Clive and Ryan). I would LOVE to live in Woodland Creek, magic born and non magic born. Humans don't know about the magic born which seems a little odd to me. The shifters seem to have some sort of special ability too, like empathy or mind reading, that at times I think would be hard to hide. Overall it was a really interesting read and I plan on reading more in the series.

I was offered the chance to read and review this novel. No compensation for my review as they asked for an honest one and that's what you're getting!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a perfect blend of contemporary romance with a hint of paranormal. Quinn's PTSD basically assaults empath Willow every time she crosses paths with him. And there is a mutual crush still lasting from the last time they saw one another, fifteen years ago.

I liked the friendship between Ryan and Willow and seeing how deeply that runs. The hints to those of two natures and Ryan's & Willow's abilities made me wonder what else might be hiding in their town.

And did the Reyburns KNOW or was it just coincidence? Do you believe in coincidences like this? I have to admit, I'm skeptical.

Filled with mystery, romance, second chances, romantics, and one grumpy old man with a story of his own, I gobbled this up whenever I had a moment to read. If Jenni Moen wants to write more novels in this world, I'm placing myself on the waitlist!

I received an ARC of "Dearborn" from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my goodness, "Dearborn" is the first book I've read by Jenni Moen, not knowing what I was in for I started this book, I was soon drawn into the story. "Dearborn" is Jenni's installment for the "Woodland Creek" collection, a collaboration of 30 authors all writing about 1 little town in Indiana USA, I was intrigued with the concept behind this collection.

Just the title intrigued me, then I read the prologue, DAMN I was instantly HOOKED! There was so much going on in this story, flashbacks, magic, shifters, hurt, secrets, twists & turns, keeping you wondering just what is going to happen. There were scenes where the rainbow was so intense, it lept off the page/screne & had you feeling what ever the characters felt too.

I LOVED it & wish it was longer, I want to read some more from Jenni Moen, also I can't wait to read what the others have written for the "Woodland Creek" collection.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was so hard to put it down and do adult things. This was the second book of the Woodland Creek series, it was nice to see a different side of this town.

I also loved the mystery Jenni was able to give us between Willow and Quinn. She does an amazing job of keeping you guessing on what's going to happen between Willow and Quinn.

Nothing is ever as it seems in Woodland Creek, just when you think you know it all, this town has a few curve balls to throw at you!

This was the first book I've ever read by Jenni, and if this is any indication on how her other stories are, I'm going to be picking them up right away! What an amazing job Jenni!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As a fan of Jenni Moen’s writing, I was quite intrigued when I found out she was writing a paranormal romance. More specifically, a shifter romance. I tend to be picky about the PNR I read. This was my first shifter type romance and I am glad to say it won’t be my last. This author does not disappoint. This story truly shows the versatility in her writing.

“It was almost as if there was a direct line between her soul and mine. Some thread tethered our hearts and gave access to her thoughts.”

Quinn Dearborn returns to Woodland Creek as a broken man. He doesn’t feel like the town’s hero he once was. War changes things. War certainly changed him. A shadow of his former self, Quinn does not venture out much. On the one occasion that his friends coerced him into a public setting, he comes into contact with Willow Ryker. The girl who once saved him. But this time she is no longer the girl from high school. Willow is now the most beautiful woman. Strong, steadfast, and determined. The complete opposite of Quinn. As Quinn feels like fleeing town, there is something holding him there.

“I’m in like with you, Willow Ryker.”

Quinn is drawn to Willow. On a deep level that cannot simply be put into words. Circumstances allow them to work together in Willow's home. And the chemistry is not lost on either of them. Over time, there are stolen glances that only the heart understands. Willow is a special kind. She feels what others feel. And with Quinn, her abilities are even more so exemplified. She not only feels his emotions. She SEES them. His soul is shattered and it takes a toll on Willow as how can she be so drawn to a man that brings her pain? Nevertheless, she still craves his presence. His touch. She wants to understand everything that makes him the man he is today.

“I want to know what makes your heart ache, Quinn. I want you to tell me about every bruise and crack. I want you to name your demons so I can be beside you when you slay them. I want to be you therapy, Quinn.”

The love between Quinn and Willow is simply magic. All consuming, fierce, their love is unlike anything you have ever read. They are connected on a level that you will not find in many stories. Their love is strong, resilient. Unyielding. Quinn loved Willow through all the demons he battled. Willow loved him through the pain and his past. Despite what they were up against, their love always endured.

“Were the broken pieces of my soul cutting her too?”

The writing in this novel was captivating. I truly enjoyed the way the author allowed the story to unfold. Rather than tell you the story, the author’s characters simply pull you in. While slow building, it allows the reader to truly immerse themselves in the story as everything comes to light and is revealed. I felt the emotions. I was gripped by the mysteriousness that surrounded the story and the characters. The author definitely demonstrates how she can write just about anything.

“To him the scars were probably merely another reminder of the war he’d fought and the battles he’d lost, but to me, they epitomized all of his best qualities. Brave, resilient, and strong.”

Dearborn is true contemporary romance with a paranormal twist. I think the author brilliantly balanced the two. Neither the romance or the paranormal activity overshadowed the other. This magical book was a love story that reminds us that the soul never leaves the one it is tethered to.

This book was utterly fantastic. But before I gush about Dearborn, I need to point out that I do not consider myself a PNR fan by any stretch of the imagination. I tend to avoid these stories for the most part but once in awhile, a beloved author of mine will put one out and I take that plunge. This is what happened with Dearborn. And once again, I am so happy that I didn't say no to an advanced copy but took the chance and came out a believe once more.

What I found most endearing about this book is that beneath all the magic and supernatural occurrences, that this was first and foremost a love story. Willow and Quinn. Two people who haven't seen each other in 15 years, who remember each other from high school but know literally nothing about the other. Quinn is back in the small town of Woodland Creek after serving time in Afghanistan and no one seems to be able to get through to him, not even his closest friends. A chance meeting in Willow's diner sets their story in motion and soon each of their worlds will never be the same.

The gift that Willow has in sensing and seeing color surrounding those in front of her is beautifully described by the author. She'll actually get nauseous if someone is upset or angry or is simply having a tough time. With Quinn, this happens often since he feels so out of sorts. Watching as Willow takes the time to figure out not only what must have happened to him during wartime but why his behavior can be so erratic, had me in knots right along with her. Her power to physically feel the moods of others is meticulously recounted and you're just as anxious to set things right. I loved her dedication and selflessness when it came to now only her magical town but those she holds near. Her best friend Ryan has his own talent for reading other's minds and his comic timing was a welcome relief more times than I could count.

Quinn is a complicated character but you get to see the true transformation of a man who was denied his past and his legacy. It's through his blossoming love of Willow that his true sense of worth is finally realized. Together with other key figures in Willow's life, Quinn's future is put on the right course and he comprehends fully that he belongs by her side.

I found myself learning all about a genre foreign to me but fascinated just the same. There are incredible scenes concerning 'shifting' that had me completely riveted. Once I realized that love can be found in this genre just like everywhere else, I was more than happy to enter the secretive world of Woodland Creek.

This book is a wonderful journey into a magical place that I am pleased to have been able to discover. I encourage those of you who didn't 'do PNR' like I did, to give this one a chance. It is well worth your time. I promise it will put a smile on your face.

A solid 5 stars!

*An ARC was received from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

Dearborn is an emotional novel, in the broadest sense.
This book was playing out like a paint so vividly in my mind. I could envision the beautiful colour all around Quinn Dearborn that shown his feelings. Only Willow can see them, and even if this mix of different colours are stunning, they also are so intense to know her down. This is what Willow is used to call Dearborn Effect.
Quinn Dearborn was «the best quarterback in the state», a beautiful boy that left Woodland Creek to become a soldier after the shock of 9/11.

Fifteen years later he came back to Woodland Creek. Everyone sees in him just a hero, Willow sees the man with flaws, weakness but also with a beautiful soul.
«Quinn’s eye were deep, dark green. When they focused on you, everything else faded away».
She chooses to help him despite the Dearborn Effect, because she understands he is full of rage, desperation and also loneliness .
«But as I sat at a table with my oldest three friends, it occurred to me I didn’t know anything about them anymore» .

Quinn’s friends have a family: sons, wives… he has nightmares and only Willow seems to help him to find an equilibrium, a reason to stay.
«I thought he might be based on the boy I’d longed for years ago, but he wasn’t that boy anymore. He was a man and a complicated man at that. There were times he seemed so broken and lost that he could barely function, and times when he seemed perfectly fine».

But Quinn is more than a veteran who as to fix with his new life. He disappears in the middle of the night for waking up at dawn completely bare and in the surrounding woods.
And Woodland Creek is a mysterious city. Half of its population are shifters, (like Willow and her best friends, Ryan) or people with special gifts. To play with magic could be dangerous and this town hides many secrets.

In the meantime, the Deer season is open and hunters are looking for a huge one called “The Monster”. Quinn is involved in the hunting, but he will be the hunter or the hunted?
Does Willow help Quinn to win his nightmare and find himself? Does Quinn accept the two natures of Willow? You’ll know only reading it.

I can just say I really like these characters. Willow is so strong and trustful in her love. And Quinn despite his rage and his fear, is protective and unable to stay away from the woman he loves. I feel so deeply from the moment I begin this book of their feelings, their mutual love and their mutual flaws, that I can only hope it will the same for you.

Willow lives a quiet life full of work and more work. She runs her small diner while having greater aspirations of making more of her life. When her high school crush, Quinn Dearborn, returns home from War, her world is put into chaos. The feelings Willow had for Quinn still exist even after all this time and the fact he is not the same person she knew. Quinn is afraid of himself due to his PTSD, seeing himself as damaged and unworthy. Willow knows what she wants but is uncertain Quinn could live with her secret.
This book snuck up on me in the best way possible. The cover I did not feel very drawn too (but it makes total sense after reading the book), and the synopsis I thought was incredibly vague, but I figured I would give the book a go. Well, let me tell you that I was completely sucked in. I read this in one day, almost one sitting but real life interfered, and found it to be a fast engaging read. I thought the book was a sweet paranormal love story with a little dash of heartbreak and conflict thrown in but with a happily ever after ending that I adore.
The book takes place in a town where all kinds of shapeshifters and people with other kinds of supernatural gift live, with the "regular" people unaware. I found out that this was a standalone in a series of 30 books written by different authors about all different characters all that live in this town. I really liked the author's style and characterizations and I am intrigued by the town so I would love to read more books by Jenni as well as set here by the other authors. I think this whole concept is very creative.
Willow was a neat character who was probably the most forgiving person ever. She roles with the punches and never gives up on what she wants. I loved the idea of her sensing other people's emotions and could see them as colors. Quinn was the strong silent type, willing to be miserable so he would not hurt someone accidentally. I loved the two of them together, like puzzle pieces that belonged together.
I really enjoyed the story. Yes at times it dealt with some serious issues, but the way the author handled the concepts was with a light hand that made the overall story feel sweet and quick. I am excited to read more by Jenni and more about these supernatural people.
I received the title from the author and Hype PR in exchange for my honest review.

Dearborn, (Woodland Creek),  Jenni Moen.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, Sci-fi and Fantasy

What a fabulous concept, 30 books by different authors centred around the same small village. I’ve looked and – hurrah - some are on Kindle Unlimited, so I’m planning ( when time allows!!) to read more from this collection.

I’d not read anything by Jenni Moen before but this sounded such an interesting plot I wanted to try this one. I did find it slow to start and in that way, the writing style and the way it unfolds it reminds me very much of Charlaine Harris Midnight Crossroads, though the only murders here are the Cluedo variety! Its a gentle story, full of tiny mysteries and hints about what's coming, so that when things are revealed we’ve an idea what’s going to happen. And then I got surprised when it didn’t work out the way I’d thought :-) but that’s fine, I love the unpredictability of when that happens.

I loved Willow right from the start. She’s got a kind heart and that comes through, where even though she can feel other people’s emotion she still tried to think the best of them. I loved her plans for the house and when it was complete I could visualise those rooms – I’d love to stay there. Quinn too, a lovely man but so traumatised by his experiences he’s in a way scared and yet something draws him to Willow, they complement each other really well. Ryan her diner colleague was a great guy too and had some good lines. Its a very gentle story, no heart stopping romances and dramas, no edge of seat suspense, but a plot that gradually reveals more and more about the people in the village. I savoured the story, its not one to rush through or you miss the tiny elements that add so much to it.

I don’t think its one I’d reread though, but the description of the village and its heritage made me want to read more in the series.

Stars: Four, a tender, mellow story.

When I heard Jenni Moen was releasing a new book I was so excited! She is one of my most favorite authors. I’ve read every single book that she is written and fell in love with every single character. I was going to sign up to be part of the tour and release, but life got in the way. So I waited, bought this as soon as I could and devoured it in one day.

To me, Dearborn is different from Jenni Moen’s other books but that’s how her books are. With The Father was different from the Joy series, and Dearborn is nothing like those books except for the emotion and heart that is put into the writing. That is one similarity throughout all of her books.

Willow is our female lead and I adored her from the start. She seemed so soft and quiet to me until she started bantering with Quin as the story started to heat up. She was never a loud person, but she could stand on her own feet. To me a good word to describe Willow was gentle, she was a gentle soul.

Quin has been through Hell and doesn’t see himself as the hero that the town thought he was (or any other person looking at someone like him would view him as being). Willow can see him differently though, literally seeing him in color, and she is drawn to him. The question from the beginning was would he let her in?

I loved this book so much! When I was done reading I was wishing that I hadn’t read it so quickly or that I could unread it and go back and experience it all over again for the first time.

Another absolutely amazing, heart warming, emotional, tugging at the heart streams book from Jenni.

I have now read 2 books in the Woodland Creek series that I loved! Which one do I buy next? There are so many to choose from.

Quinn returns to his hometown after serving in the military. He doesn't return as a hero (at least he doesn't think he is a hero) but as someone who is hiding from his life (or more accurately, he is trying to hide from his nightmares). What he doesn't know, is that his hometown has some secrets itself.

Quinn is written as a realistic man returning from war and the horrible things he saw, did, and went through on the other side of the world. Things he couldn't have ever anticipated and now he is suffering from them. He has nightmares, doesn't like to be called a hero (he really doesn't feel he is one at all), and wants to be left alone.

One morning though, everything is going to change. In a BIG way, a way he didn't anticipate and yet, in a way that impacts everything.

She is a waitress at the diner, and little does he know, the owner as well. She also just happens to be the one back in high school that tutored him in math, and helped him out. Oh, and she is the one that has had a crush on him FOREVER!

Willow is the young woman that was in his life for a reason, they just didn't know it. She is the one person that knows EXACTLY how Quinn feels about everything when he is around. She is hiding something from him though, a secret that could change everything. The question becomes, can they figure out a way through the muck that is all around them.

Honestly, this book tugged at my heart for Quinn, but more for Willow. She is the one that I cried for, cheered for, and felt for through the entire story. She is full of fight, spirit, and more heart than anyone else I had read. Her story isn't an easy one, but it is a story of strength!

Woodland Creek is a truly magical place. Cafe owner Willow is one of the many shifters who lives there but there is even more to her than that. She is an empath. Willow can not only feel but she can also see in colour the emotions of those around her. Usually she can handle the emotions of others, there is only one person who has effected her enough to make her physically sick.

Quinn Dearborn was the small town school hero who left to join the army as soon as school finished. He never returned home while serving in the army but no longer in the army and suffering from PTSD he returns home to visit his mother. No longer able to avoid his school friends he goes to visit them in the local cafe. Intent on leaving town as soon as this visit is over until he once again comes face to face with Willow. In an instant his plans change.

Willow and Quinn have things to work through. Willow is scared to reveal her true self and Quinn is scared and struggling to cope with his PTSD. He struggles with nightmares and keeps finding himself naked in the woods when he wakes. Can Willow help him find out what is happening to him and can he accept who she really is.

I loved this book start to finish and couldn't put it down. The writing goes between the point of view of both characters. The story flows easily and takes you along with it. The only draw back from reading this story was I so wanted to read more about Quinn and Willow.

I loved Jenni Moen's With The Father, so when I saw Dearborn, I immediately wanted to read it and when I saw that it was a paranormal romance - that was just icing on the cake! I expected a great read and Ms. Moen totally delivered. I never wanted to stop reading it - I just absolutely LOVED it!!

Willow is just a dear and I liked her right away. She's so sweet, kind, understanding, and compassionate. She's definitely the kind of person you'd want to be your best friend and she's the perfect girl for Quinn. Willow is awesome, I completely loved her and wouldn't have changed a thing about her!

Quinn was either melting my heart or breaking it. He's so incredibly sweet and thoughtful that it was hard to watch him struggle. I just wanted to wrap my arms around him and squeeze him until all his hurt went away. It's true that he has his ups and downs, but that doesn't mean that he's not fun, because he has a sly, playful, creative side to him. I loved all that and how protective and possessive of Willow he was - I just loved Quinn period!!

Dearborn is a beautiful, magical read that will suck you in, make your heart ache, and make you good sigh. It made me feel good, it captured my heart and left me smiling. It was a wonderful read and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Dearborn is a standalone, it's told from Quinn and Willow's POV, and they get their HEA!

5 Shifting Stars

I was given this book for my honest review.

“I’d rather face my demons than leave you. I don’t even know what they are, but I’d rather face them than not have you in my life. I think a part of me always knew, if I came back to Woodland Creek, it would come down to this.” Quinn

Quinn-hot and damaged

Willow-pretty and in tuned

Happiness isn’t about the destination it is about the journey. As these words hold so much significance in this amazing read you will read that Quinn has demons that live with him which can be tamed with the right touch of one. Willow with the softness of heart holds more to power in heart than she so richly knows. Coming to understand that heart over power is the best and worst of her. Taming that power with her heart is a task that the power of two as one combined.

To the author: This is the first book that I have read of this nature and it became evident that a normal review for me could not be written. Your readers will go through many emotions within this read that will have ones heart stopping in all the right places. Gasping for air in the most unusual but in the end will find the solitude that one deserves. The love of not one but of many can be a powerful thing but with the support of all it can become overwhelming so for this I say. Major Kudos

To the readers: Sit back and enjoy

Happy Reading

This is the story that made my cry, out right. It was heart wrenching, and beautiful, and real, and oh so sweet. I won't lie, this one is emotional because it's so real. Willow lives in Woodland Creek and has her whole life. She's always been different from the rest of the shifter world. And in high school, she had the biggest crush on Quinn, the all American perfect guy, who was even sweet. But he went to war and came back broken. Or so he thinks, but Willow sees that wonderful boy still in there, he just needs help finding his way back. So Willow owns a little diner, and when he crush from High School, Quinn, walks in the door, things get interesting. Quinn is broken and just wants to leave, and hide, and be broken by himself, until he walks into Willow's diner, and remembers her, and finds that he wants to know her again. He finds a purpose for being near her. And together they heal each other while finding that love really can conquer it all. I absolutely loved this story. I loved how hard Willow and Quinn each worked but for different reasons on trying to piece together their relationship. And though this one reads mostly like a contemporary romance, because the secrets of the shifter side doesn't come out until mostly the end, it was awesome when it did. I loved everything about this one! 5 PAWS!!!

**An e-ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**

My first book read from Jenni Moen. I like the mysterious effect of the Prologue bit I didn't know that it will linger throughout the whole story! As I read the book, I always guess what will happen next, the identity of the characters but I always end up wrong. I assume but there comes one scene or revelation that would change my guess I have in my mind again. As if I'm trailing in a room without seeing my surroundings. The plot twist during the climax scenes is really unexpected. Every page from there shocks me. Every shifter in there has their own story and I wish I could know more about them.

Although this book is a stand-alone, I feel like I'm hanging. Like "IS THAT IT?" I can't get over since at the climax to the end. Went so fast I didn't see it coming. It makes me crave for more story about each characters. Can I request you Jenni to write a standalone for Ryan, Vanessa, Clive, Clara, Janice, Russell, Margaret and Quinn Dearborn please? I just LOVE this book and characters and I just want to have them again.

I received a copy of this book for my review.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I really enjoyed this story. As part of the Woodland Creek series from multiple authors, Jenni Moen’s Dearborn caught me a little off guard. It is about a shifter, a unique (to me) type. The co main character Quinn Dearborn suffers from PTSD due to his service in the war on terror. This is what caught me by surprise; I normally stay away from any military stories due to my own personal experiences with PTSD from the war. I think the author did a good job representing what Quinn was going through and it wasn’t nearly as painful to read as I expected. But this story is not all about that, the characters were all well developed with their personalities shining through. I loved trying to figure out some of the hidden mysteries. I loved Willow’s unique abilities! I would have loved to get a little more about Vanessa and Ryan and to really know Lester’s story but maybe that will happen in another book? This is a great book for those who enjoy a love story with a little supernatural mixed in.

Dearborn begins when Quinn Dearborn returns to town. He's been gone for a longtime, but after being in the military it's time to go home. Willow has always had a crush on Quinn, but nothing ever came of it. She remembers how he use to be though, and when she meets him again all those feelings come back to haunt her. Especially since she's an empath, and can feel his emotions more than anyone else she's ever met.

These two will have to go through a whole lot in order to end up where they need to be. It's going to take patience, and little bit of help from friends for them to get their happily-ever-after, but it will happen.

This book was very unique. I've never heard of a shifters like this before and it just blew me away. I adored Willow. She was awesome, and I really loved how she was with Quinn as well.
Quinn was another great character as well. He's tortured, and doesn't know whats going on with him, but he's bound and determined not to let it hurt anyone else around him.

I also really enjoyed the plot line as well. It was extremely intriguing and had me not wanting to set the book down!

This book is part of the "Woodland Creek" series. They are all set in the same town, but written by different authors. So we get quite a mix of magical stories. I have included a link to the series page at the end of this post.

Willow Ryker runs the diner in town. She is an empath and has to keep her mental shields up so that she doesn't get caught up in other people's moods. There is one person who she can't keep out. His every emotion colours the world around him. Her chef at the diner doesn´t help. He can read minds, and enjoys tormenting her by telling her what others are thinking

Quinn Dearborn is recently back from Afghanistan. He has been medically discharged because of his PTSD. Now his home town see him a hero, when he sees himself as useless. The nightmares and the sleep walking are the worst. He can´t relate anymore to his high school friends. He feels he is battling against a monster inside himself.

That is all I will tell you about our main characters. They have lots more secrets for you to discover. There are laughs, tears and magic from the "two natured" . I always enjoy my journeys to Woodland Creek. I'm sure you will too.
