A BUGGY RIDE FOR CHRISTMAS is a stand-alone short Christmas story.

I thought this was a sweet story of discovery and self-realization. It was also about acceptance and being accepted. There was also the promise of future, not immediacy, but a lifetime of exploring that would be worth it. All in all, it made me feel good for Cole, Dewey, and the whole family.

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Sweet…

A Buggy Ride for Christmas is a sweet romantic story of a teenage boy in the throes of discovering who he is. When Cole meets Dewey at his aunt’s farm, he learns that love can come in many shapes and sizes, and doesn’t always fit perfectly into society’s little box. When they are reunited after being separated for months, the boys have the opportunity to explore their feelings, and each other. With a little nudge from Cole’s aunt, they experience a Christmas they will never forget.

Baty has created a sweet love story here that pulled you in and didn’t let go. I absolutely loved it. My only issue was that the story ended very abruptly. After building the relationship superbly and pulling the reader into the boys’ hearts and dreams, the story just…ends. So many questions left unanswered, or just touched upon without the satisfaction of “being there” as things happened. I can only hope that the author will consider (or is considering) bringing these characters back and creating a full length novel that explores their relationship in its totality.
