Rough Waters #3

The Rising Storm

Rate this book
Dr. Noah Key would gladly have traded places with his wife in the car accident that claimed her life. Without her he finds himself living a half life, haunted by all the ways he failed in his marriage.
Determined to absolve himself, Noah sets out on a journey to the other side of the world to provide medical aid after a devastating storm destroys an impoverished island. But nothing is as he expected; faced with impossibly difficult choices, Noah must decide if he’s helping or hurting the people around him.

Dr. Elizabeth Lowe has honed her skills by traveling to the most war torn and environmentally devastated regions of the world. Easily misjudged as cold and indifferent, Elizabeth seems like the last thing Noah needs in his life. But she may be the only person capable of convincing him to stop trying to pay a debt he doesn’t owe. Will he stop punishing himself long enough to realize he can let her in?

Writing is a way to make a lot of different people do exactly what you want them to do. When I can’t get my toddler to listen to me, I turn to my characters. They always cooperate!

I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my husband and seven year old son. I have perfected the ability to write in a noisy house and create story lines while folding laundry.

Ten Things to know about me:

1. I have a fear of whales. All whales. The noise they make. The sight of them (even on tv). I don't think this phobia has a name and I've never met anyone else who feels this way. I blame it on the 3D movie when I was 7 at the Boston Museum of Science. (Thanks Dad.)

2. When I get hungry it brings out the worst in me. My friends and family know to keep me well fed. They pack snacks now.

3. I can cook but not bake. Not even a little. Not even a box of brownies.

4. If there is a song I like it is normal to hear me listening to it a hundred times (give or take) in a row.

5. I do not, under any circumstances, read directions. Who has time for that? Making mac & cheese by the seat of my pants for the last 25 years.

6. Like a black-out drunk, I have lost hours of my life mysteriously to Pinterest. If you haven't tried it yet... don't. Save your self.

7. Before I became a mother, lots of things grossed me out. Now nothing does.

8. My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine)

9. I do not have a green thumb. I have the kind of thumb that kills any type of plant ever given to me. Whatever kind of thumb that is... I have it.

10. Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it.

What a brilliant way to end this trilogy! Just beautiful! Intense and raw, nearly like a war novel. Noa complicated such a long way to be where he is! It's so good that he took the hard time to learn for the better future!
Absolutely loved that the characters from all the novels comes together, even though just for a onc chapter. I just loved it.

AWWWWWW NOAAAAAH!

Noah is such an interesting but amazing man
People process emotions differently and he is exhibit A B C and Z
But this book you can see through his hard exterior and see just how hard he’s trying to change to be the man his late wife would be proud of
And yall…she would be SO proud of him
I’M proud of him
He grows so much and it’s so beautiful to see
Oh and I love Liz
She’s a baddie doctor who knows who she is but also is not open with her emotions and doesn’t want some doctor to figure her out
OOPSIE PLANS CHANGE LIZZIE DARLING
so GOOD!

A nice ending to this trilogy of books, finishing with the last of the main characters, it was good to see what happened with Noah. Again I liked that this book took a different approach, the storyline was completely different whilst still linking in with the bigger picture. It was another enjoyable, easy read. It was great that this trilogy covered each main character's life, allowing us to get to know them more and live vicariously through a situation from the different perspectives of those involved and their ultimately different outcomes.

I was happy that the last book in the trilogy was better than the second one. Noah is a much more interesting character so it wasn't surprising. Danielle Stewart did a great job writing how he was trying to find himself after his wife's death, trying to be the way he thought she would want him to be. It was a bit predictable but I really enjoyed the first half of the book. It went a bit down after his trip home. His relationship with Liz was way too rushed. Still it was a great ending to the series.

This book was about Noah who was trying to figure out who is was and how to get over the death of his wife. It was quite interesting when he met Liz and how he reacts to her. The book seemed to take many turns and keeps the reader interested.

I liked this book less than the others in the series. I felt that a part of Noah's story was rushed through while the author took her time in the other books to really tell every one's story. Still I give it 3 stars because it was still a beautiful story.
