On the rebound from a bad breakup with Mr. Wrong, Lisa Randall does something she’s never done before: has a one night stand with a stranger she meets in a bar. As amazing as the night is, the last thing she expects is to hear from the guy again. But when one night turns into two, and then three, and then more, Lisa wonders whether her infatuation with Matt is keeping her from meeting Mr. Right, or whether a passionate one night stand can actually lead to true love. Matt Owens has always considered himself the King of Jumping into Things Too Fast. He met his ex on a Tuesday, proposed on Saturday, and married her a month later. This time around he wants to take things slow, enjoy the moment. And the attractive woman he picked up in a bar seems to fit the bill. Lisa doesn’t even want to know his last name, let alone plan a future. But as he begins to develop feelings for her, he knows his one big secret could ruin any chance for something more.
One Night with a Stranger by Linda Steinberg is the first book of the contemporary romance Unforgettable Nights series. The next book of the series will have a different couple so each could be read as a standalone if choosing to do so and as of time of writing this book one is still free in Amazon.
Lisa Randall has just gotten out of a relationship and is not ready for a new one when she decides to let go and have a one night stand. Matt Owens has his own problems and isn’t ready to rush into anything series either so how could he say no to Lisa? The only problem… both are not happy with just one night and continue to see one another.
I actually expected this one to be a bit more erotic than it ended up being which is totally fine too. Both characters had their reasons for not wanting to rush into things but they both obviously were not the type to be quite as casual as they tried to be. There also wasn’t too much angst in this one, sure a few problems but realistic relationship things to be dealt with along the way. Not too bad a read overall.
I liked this book enough to read more titles in the series. This author did it right - she offered the first book in the series free in order to attract people to continue on. I like her voice and the way she got me invested in the characters. I also see promise of hearing more about the characters as we move on, but each title seems to concentrate on the focus couple of that particular book.
I would have rated this story a 4 if not for two aspects of this book that disappointed me.
I look forward to reading more about Lisa's friends in future titles.
This is the first book in the Unforgettable Nights series and I loved it so much that I could not put the book down. It was my first time reading a book by Linda Steinberg and I must say her writing is flawless and she makes the reader connect with her characters which many authors don't manage to accomplish. I enjoyed the chemistry between Matt and Lisa as well as how mature the characters were and the realistic drama. Matt's character was someone whom I loved because he balanced his dreams and responsibilities and never gave up on his ambitions. There is only one thing in the book that I disliked and that was the ending because I felt like it was rushed and ended abruptly. I wished the book was longer so I could continue reading and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
Such an enjoyable to read type of story. Tells you about unexpectedly finding Mr Right. Doesn't always work that way but some women might strike it good. Simple and fun to read. Thanks Linda!
OK, so I have been most definitely on a romance novel kick lately. But it seems that it is just this time of the year as when I look back on books I read last year at a similar time, I also read up on my fair share of romance novels.
That said, this time out twenty-something, Lisa Randall hooks up with Matt Owens who she met the same night at a bar out with her friend. Lisa is freshly rebounding from her recent breakup with Mr. Wrong. So, she thinks a one night stand is the trick to help her get over him.
Matt happens to be a true romantic at heart. He is also nursing a broken heart after his wife of nine years dumped him to get married again. Matt is the type to jump head first into relationships. So, his friend bets him that he couldn’t hook up and leave it at the one night stand.
Lisa and Matt try their hardest to prove their instincts wrong. And yet the two go from one night stand to two to three and many more nights together. It is pretty clear to all but themselves that they are falling for the other.
So, how will their story play out? You have to read it to find out.
Lisa met Matt in a bar to get over a break up and to prove that she could do a one night stand. The thing is her one night stand turned into seven nights of unforgettable sex but she kept trying to tell herself that she hadn’t found Mr. right now compared to Mr. wrong again. She wanted no relationship with Matt and when she found out who he really was everything became real instead of a fantasy. She made a decision almost to late and if Matt hadn’t fallen in love with her too who knows what would have happened.
Although I liked this story, I felt more like I was sitting on the sidelines listening to someone tell it to me rather than being pulled into the thick of it. The ending also felt very rushed and I had to read the prequel for the second book to find the ending for the first. The editing is good and the plot moves along at a steady pace. Overall, the story didn't disappoint and for a light read it did the job.
This was awful. It had no real story, it literally goes boy meets girl and likes girl, girl likes boy they get together, have one hiccup and then say i love you. The sex scenes were terrible. They sit under a blanket on the beach, her top comes off he roles on the protection and bangs her then they sit up and he says "that was nice" then they go home separately. Definitely not for me.
I really enjoyed reading this book and was hooked from the start. It wasn’t a long read but it was just right. I loved the characters especially Matt. It was great to read about a nice guy once in a while. A new author to me but I would like to read more in the series.
This was the perfect little book to break up the heavier, darker novels I've been reading recently. I finished it in just a few hours and the characters were likable! The version I had needed a thorough copy edit though, and the errors were extremely distracting.
Light, funny read. Matt and Lisa have good chemistry and it's nice to see how their relationship develop backwards. I wish Matt's character had developed a bit more as it did seem to be a bit faded but other than that, a definitely enjoyable read
I finished it mainly because I hate leaving a book unfinished. It wasn't horrible; it wasn't great. Just meh... I couldn't bring myself to care much about the characters and their journey.
I'm an avid reader whose been in a book slump recently and just downloaded this book at random. Gee was I pleasantly surprised. Read it in a day. Great contemporary romance about second chances and meeting Mr Right when you're least expecting it. Looking forward to reading the other books in the series and exploring the other characters introduced in this one.
Love this! A quick but enjoyable read. Man, I want me some Matt. Written to be enjoyed and swooned at, this is just very nice. Planning to read the remainder of the unforgettable Nights Series.
This story is funny, steamy and romantic with strong characters both male and female, I was so entangled in the story that I could not stop reading until the very end.
This one missed the mark a bit for me. I thought the connection between the main characters was weird and I didn't really didn't like the writing style. So yeah...not my favorite.
The story did not grab my attention in the beginning. As it went I could not put the book down. Also enjoyed the simple names the author used for the . characters.
