This was an okay short story, although I wasn't impressed by the line about her coming because he kissed her so passionately. I mean really?

I loved this novella so much. It was the love story of V’Aidan and Erin. V’Aidan was such a babe. He thought he was a monster and didn’t deserve someone very sweet and good like Erin. All he wanted to do was make her happy and keep her safe. He would do anything to protect her, even if that meant being punished for eternity.


“I take it you want to keep me?”
“Buddy, you try and leave me and I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth and beyond to find you and bring you home.”


This was a very impressive and unforgettable read for me. Enjoyed it from start to finish.

Phantom Lover is the story of V’Aidan, a Dream-Hunter, and Erin McDaniels.

The plot is smartly built. The odd, discursive dreams turn into some volatile reality. The human world and the supernatural one exist closely each other. There are interesting twists and turns, nothing is what it seems.

I was bored a little by V’Aidan’s whining about his true nature and his feelings, around the middle of the story. It was exaggerated, and unnecessary. The end is too easy, some kind of reverse Sleeping Beauty, but as a whole, it is a nice novella.



Like Dragonswan is about the Arcadians and the Katagaria, Phantom Lover gives background information and characterization of Dream-Hunters, Skoti, and Oneroi. It is not essential but it is worth reading it if you want to get a clearer picture about Dream-Hunters.

What I like the most in the Dark-Hunter Universe, is that, as in real life, things are not exclusively black or white. Things not always are what they seem to be, good and evil are not separated clearly. Anything could happen.

Erin McDaniels (human) and V'Aidan (Dream-hunter and Skoti)

Erin is tortured by nightmares. She cannot sleep peacefully and at the same time she cannot wake up most of the times. Things will start getting weirder when she starts falling asleep without wanting to sleep.
In one of her nightmares, she will meet a scaly horrifying dragon and she cannot escape him:

You're not going to leave me so soon, Erin.
I need the light inside you. Your thoughts. Your feelings. Your goodness. Come to me, and let me feel the warmth of you wash over me.

She will run away and she will meet V'Aidan. She will not know then that V'Aidan is her cure and at the same time her illness.

V'Aidan will be sick without Erin and Erin becomes sick because of V'Aidan. If they cannot both live in the dream world, they will need to find a way to live in the humans' world and V'Aidan needs to protect Erin always.

Good addition in dream-hunters' stories.

The Beginning gibi bu novella da zamanında arayıp bulamadıklarımdandı. Onu bulunca hemen diğerlerini araştırdım ve benden mutlusu yok. Çünkü çok tatlı bir novellaydı.

Üst başlıkta Hunter Legends Series sıralamasına göre okuyorum ben seriyi o nedenle Dark Hunter’ın yanında Were Hunter serilerinden de okuduğum kitaplar vardı. Bu kitapların içinde Dream Hunterlara dair bir şeyler okumuştum ama kafamda tam olarak şekillendiremiyordum. Bu novella bu noktada imdadıma yetişti diyebilirim. Keşke Zarek’in kitabından önce okumuş olsaydım diye düşündüm hatta. Ama kısmet bu zamanaymış.

Dream Hunterlarla ilgili iyi bir kaynak olmasının yanı sıra Erin ve V’Aidan’ın hikâyesi de oldukça hoşuma gitti. Rüyalar âleminde geçen bir ilişkiyi Zarek’in kitabında çok sevmiştim burada da öyle oldu. Karakterlerin bu rüya diye düşünerek kendilerini özgürlüğün kollarına bırakışı kurguyu daha eğlenceli bir düzeye getiriyor.

Serinin yayım hakları Pegasus’da ama ben bu serinin hakkını verdikleri kanaatinde değilim. Bu novella bile çevrilmeye layıkken onlar ana kitapları kağnı hızıyla yayınlıyorlar. Bilemiyorum artık buna ne denir?..

Me ha gustado un monton este pequeño relato entre V'Aidan y Erin.
Es super bonito y V'Aidan es maravilloso. Lo quiero para mi, para achucharlo y no soltarlo nunca.
No le pongo 5 estrellas porque lo sentí demasiado apresurado todo al ser una historia corta (NECESITO UN LIBRO PARA ÉL SOLITO, POR FAVOR) y no me gustó que hubiesen tantas escenas de sexo, ya que me entorpecían el avance de la novela.

Leí esta historia hace mucho tiempo y no recordaba prácticamente nada 😅 si tuve una leve sospecha desde el inicio de la aparición de los malos que eran ellos y que V'Aidan ocultaba algo, y hasta ahí llegó mi memoria.
La pareja de Erin y V'Aidan se da muy rápido, insta love nivel Flash 🤭 sin embargo, conforme avanza la trama y se ven más encuentros entre ellos, muchos XXX para que negarlo, la pareja se hace más creíble, hasta que llega el final y, creo yo que, cierra bastante bien.
Aunque como digo siempre: Kenyon tiene grandes historias, pero tiendo a ser muy subjetiva con ella 🤷🏼‍♀️

Phantom Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon is a short and quick read and an introduction to the Dream Hunter.

Erin McDaniels has been haunted by some really awful nightmares lately. Then she met V’Aidan. She found herself wanting to spend more time with him because just being with him made her happy and contented.

V’Aidan is a hot-smokin’ dream-god who rescued Erin from a nightmare and brought her to a happy place. Another of Sherrilyn Kenyon's tortured male leads, and he began to open up with Erin despite being unable to feel any emotions. He was sweet, caring, and gentle. I absolutely adored him. I was taken aback by his vulnerability. He tried his best to be a better man for Erin.

But sometimes, All Good Things Come to an End especially when some bad-ass Skoti are hell-bent on destroying V’Aidan.

In this book, we get to see much of the world of the Dream-Hunters; their rules and their feelings (And they sure do have lots of feelings, so much for being an unemotional bunch). Sometimes I think that the most appropriate title in this book is V’Aidan’s Redemption.

I loved the romance between V’Aidan and Erin. It was actually sweet. And I’m happy that they got the happy ending they deserve. This is a must-read a Dark-Hunter die-hard fans.

A short story of a woman meeting the man of her dreams in a nightmare. (he-he!)

Not everything is as it seems and Erin will have to finally be true to herself if she wants to survive, and dare to reach for her happily ever after.

A nice glimpse into the dream hunter side of the dark-hunterverse. I'm curious to read more about them later in the series.

I read this from SK's Dark Bites:A Short Story Collection. This story is about V'Aiden the supernatural/dream hero and his desire for the human Erin McDaniels. As much as I wanted to rate this higher, I really couldn't. I felt no real connection with Erin. Her role was too...mmmm, trying to think of a word that fits...."fake". She goes from having sleep issues due to the nightmares to forcing herself to stay asleep, just so she could be with her McDreamy V'Aiden. As for him, there were moments I felt really sorry for him. The way he was treated by those in his realm. But I wasn't too broken up about it because it seemed like all he wanted to do with Erin with they were togther was the nasty...like a bunch of horny teenagers. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for their HEA. But I guess I wanted to feel more of a connection with my characters. Based on this, I'm not sure if I'll be going into any of the other dream/dragon books.

I was disappointed in this story. It was the first introduction to the Dream-Hunters and I was left feeling very confused about what they really are. I was under the impression that they were another group of "good guys" but in the story it was briefly explained that they feed off of other people's energy/creativity in their dreams - that is not my idea of a good hero (even though V'Aiden did turn out to be a good one). I'm hoping that the next story featuring the Dream-Hunters go in to more detail in to how they came to be and where they fit within the Dark-Hunterverse.

Para ser una historia corta, no está nada mal, hasta tiene malo oculto, lo que siempre es un buen punto para dar una sorpresa inesperada, sobre todo cuando no te la esperas en una historia corta donde la falta de páginas hace que todo suceda más deprisa. A pesar de eso, le da tiempo ha presentar los distintos seres que viven de los sueños, crear tensión y resolver el inicio de una historia de amor.

se que mucha gente querra matarme por esto pero me aburren infinitamente las historias de amor de cazadores oscuros... que fastidio con el empeño de la autora de que te vi y me enamore perdidamente de ti.. detesto los romances asi, no me los creo... ojala se enfocaran mas en el desarrollo de la historia que en los romances... esperaba mucho mas de estos libros pero ya llevo seis y naaaada ... claro respeto que a tanta gente en el mundo les gusten pero a mi me decepcionaron completamente

Phantom Lover is a novella set in the Dark Hunterverse from Sherrilyn Kenyon. Since this was a novella the story is pretty short and to the point. What’s removed is all the emotional turmoil, and consideration of a thought process, and a lot of the minutia needed for the story to actually work in reality. But I’m not saying that like it’s a bad thing! In the end I actually liked the story even though it was pretty light on thought.

What I mean is that this novella was short enough that all those chapters where the characters would have gradually gotten to know each other and where Erin would have actually given any thought to her actual predicament are cut out. The story just gets down to business. Erin and V’Aiden meet, have sex, start a relationship in dreamland, fall in love, have heartbreak, and then a happy ending. You know… the usual stuff. After the obligatory happy ending I was left with many practical questions like: How does V’Aiden live in the real world? Does he have a job? Does he have a last name? He would have had to go to a lot of shady folks to get a human identity from scratch but none of that is brought up. But hey, what am I going to do? I don’t want to rain all over their happy ending parade so whatever… who cares about practicality?

As for what I ultimately got out of Phantom Lover there were actually a few things. There’s world building and we get a brief crash course of the Dream Hunters, IE: the Skoti and the Oneroi. Much like the differences between the Were-Hunters (Arcadian and Katagaria) each has their own respective duties. I’m glad to have a small reference point going forward in the series. Ok… I’ll admit there were a couple things that actually did get me in the feels. POOR SAD DRAGON! There was a cheesy “Sleeping Beauty” moment in here too but I actually kind of liked it. Also, I will say that there is a twist in here that I really didn’t see coming so for that alone I’m giving Phantom Lover a passing grade.

Este es un relato muy corto, que tiene como objetivo introducirnos a otro mundo, a otra especie importante en todas las historia, este mundo es el de los Dream-Hunter. Conocemos que hay dos tipos de Dream-Hunter, los Skotos y los Oneroi.
Tenemos la historia de V'Aidan y Eric, esta ultima se encuentra siendo atormentada por múltiples Skotos en sus sueños, lo que le ha ocasionado una debilitamiento masivo hasta que en uno de sus sueños se encuentra con una guerrero de armadura negra llamado V'Aidan. Al principio asume que el es un Oneroi, pero hay un secreto que ella no sabe sino hasta que sentencia V'Aidan y ella lucha por recuperarlo.

Los Dream-Hunter no tienen sentimientos, solo lo experimentan a través de los sueños y algunos se vuelven adictos a drenar esas emociones y sentimientos de los humanos convirtiéndose en Skotos que son controlados para evitar que sigan dañando al humano. V'Aidan es diferente, siempre ha sentido el rechazo hasta que conoce a Erin y experimenta por primera vez emociones propias.
Esta historia nos introduce un poco sobre lo básico que hay que conocer de los Dream-hunter, sus obligaciones, su mundo y su trabajo. Ademas de darnos una pequeña historia de esperanza.

I'm not entirely sure what I think of this one... I liked it, but at the same time, the different characters were confusing me (although that could be because I am reading when I should be sleeping...)
Erin is plagued by nighmares which make her fear going to sleep... that is however, until V'Aiden saves her from the evil dragon and snake like monsters. She believes V'Aiden to be Oneroi (kinda like a being who keeps humens safe in their sleep) and the affair begins. Instead of nightmares she kinda lives a separate life with him in this dreamland.
V'Aiden is in trouble with his people, he isn't supposed to have feelings and emotions but he can't seem to block them out.
Their love is tested when V'Aidens sister reveals him as being Stigoi (evil nightmare maker) and was in fact the dragon that haunted her sleep.
V'Aiden is killed for his actions and sent to hell to be tortured for eternity but Erin realises the love between them was real and wants him back... V'Aiden gets kicked out of hell cause hell is for those who cant feel love and he does...
In the end, he is sleeping beauty and she is the prince who wakes him with true loves kiss

En un principio pensaba ponerle menos estrellas porque no creí que me fascinará y resulta que que me sedujo y me atrapó en sus paginas para no soltar me.

Erin es una mujer promedio que no cree llamar la atención, por años ha suprimido su talento para crear cosas maravillosas porque cuando estaba en la universidad trillaron sus sueños de una forma cruel, aunque vive una vida solitaria y tranquila algo le falta a su vida y es precisamente en el lugar menos esperado que encuentra una razón para vivir.

Los monstruos avasallan los sueños pero no dudes que siempre aparecerá alguien para rescatarte y alejarte de sus garras.

V'Aidan es un Skotos que por decirlo de algún modo fue desterrado y solo puede buscar sentimientos en las pesadillas de los humanos y de esa forma es como él puede sentir algo porque sobre está especie pesa una maldición que les prohibió el poder sentir cualquier sentimiento así que están destinados a vivir sin amor y serán cruelmente castigados de buscarlo.

En este relato corto encontrarás que nada es lo que parece y desde luego pasarás un momento agradable descubriendo algunos secretos que tye dejarán con ganas de más.
