Belmont Beach Brides #1
The Wedding Date
A little fake relationship never hurt anyone. . .
Kate Massie has big dreams-they just haven't worked out. Yet. In the meantime, she spends her days clerking for a judge and her nights fantasizing about her tall, dark, and sexy gym crush. So when she runs into him one night, she's shocked to realize he was her shy, nerdy junior-prom date. But that isn't where the surprises end . . .
James Abell needs a date to his sister's wedding. So when Kate agrees, he's relieved . . . until one little lie turns their wedding date into a full-blown fake relationship. Only it doesn't feel fake-not the toe-curling kisses and definitely not the electricity. Neither of them is looking for something real . . . but they just might fall for their own little white lie.

This book was just what I needed! What a fabulous feel-good, sexy romance that I just got lost in, and finished in one fabulous sitting!
Kate runs into James at the gym and doesn’t recognise him as the young shy guy who took her to junior prom. He has changed… Now a buff sexy hunk, Kate has trouble holding herself together in his presence. When a mutual friend sets them up on a fake date for James’ sisters wedding, James and Kate must pretend to be a couple… But how long can they keep pretending??
What a wonderful little escape this book was! It was sweet, sexy, funny and lovely. Yes, the story has been done before, but that didn’t matter at all because I still loved it!
The characters were great, they all had quite a bit of depth, the romance was sweet, and the hot moments were pretty hot! I loved all the secondary characters also, especially all of James family! I really liked Kate too!
Would I recommend The Wedding Date?
Absolutely for anyone (who is over 18) and who wants a cute romantic escape. I laughed, I swooned, I loved it!
Many thanks to the author Kelly Eadon and the publisher via Xpresso Book Tours for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Wedding Date was a sweet, enjoyable read. I’ve said it dozens of times; Contemporary Romance is hit or miss for me. But sometimes I think it’s all about the timing, and this was a light read right on the heels of a heavier one for me. It was the perfect time to pick up this book. Having said that, I did have a few issues. First of all, any time you see something along the lines to ‘I don’t cry; I don’t ever cry,’ you can pretty much take it to the bank that there’s an emotional breakdown with lots of tears on the way. This story was no different. Kate never cried, but tears pricked her eyes or she choked them back dozens of times. And James and Kate both had aversions to relationships, which we were told over and over and over and over again. I liked them, I just thought they lacked depth and I could have done without the constant reminders that their goals didn’t include relationships right now. What I liked about this story was that James’s family was crazy, but they all had good hearts. His mother was domineering and abrupt, but there was no doubt her motivation was love of her family. His brother might occasionally have too much to drink and have bit too much fun, but everyone took it in good stride. Also, James wasn’t afraid of the dance floor. Not only could he dance, but he liked it. It was nice to see a hero so open to enjoying himself. The Wedding Date had its ups and downs, but it was a fun story overall. I’ll be interested to read about Kate’s roommate.

Kate had her whole life planned out and even though she never was in a long-term relationship especially since all the guys she seemed to date were jerks. That was until her life was thrown into a tailspin after completing Law school as her internship which had hopefully pathed the way for a good job ended up not existing as the company's funding and intern position were cut. Now she has moved back to her hometown and working as a clerk for a judge with the lookout of maybe one day a dream job. Her days are split between the office and the gym - her one outlet. There happens to be a new cute guy at the gym which is a bonus. As luck would turn out it is James Abell , a guy who Kate actually went with as a date to his junior prom when his original date cancelled. James likes Kate but is unsure how to proceed , but he is in luck as his sister is getting married and he needs a date to the wedding. Soon James and Kate end up in a fake relationship scenario, but the more time he spends with her - the closer they get and the lines of reality and fantasy become blurred especially more so that James's family love Kate and seeing as her parents died when she was younger - she misses that parental feeling. What will happen though when at the wedding , Kate and James discovers the truth about his ex ? Will this put a dent in their "fake" relationship especially now that there really are true feelings in place ?
Often a lot of contemporary romance books are so-so and they all can blend into one , but The Wedding Date was fast-paced and I really loved the character of Kate which made The Wedding Date one of those 5 starred sweet romance reads as in terms of a romance , that's what this book is and the author hasn't had to use sex to spice it up. Simply The Wedding Date is one of those lovely sweet reads that you can relax and feel wrapped up in a warm blanket and a cup of tea with all the feels.

What if I promise never to make you cry?
Contemporary romance has been my go-to genre for so long. So when I saw an opening for a blog tour this book, you betcha I clicked the button faster than you could say wassup.
Anyway, I adored this book so much. It was a sweet and humorous read. What really sold me with this book is how the characters were built, they were well developed.
Kate is a driven and strong woman. She has the characteristics that could attract men and James is no exception. James, on the other hand, was very caring and considerate, not to mention charming. It was fun to follow their relationship grow and develop.
The other supporting characters were a hilarious addition to this unconventional set-up, especially whenever they're all together.
Overall, I really liked this book. I think this is a great book. It doesn't have the most original plot line but it was written in a fun and unique way that rivals the other. But there's just one character that I really don't understand. This one's humorous with a touch of other emotions blended in.
Did I like the ending? Yes.
Is it a page turner? Yes, very much so.
Will I re-read it again? Of course.

I received an ARC of this book from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's blog tour promotions.
If you follow my blog, then you know that I love erotic romances and dark erotica. I love those intense stories that really grip your heart and tear you to pieces. I don't always like tearjerkers, but I do love a good desparate, hopeless story. However, there are still days that I long for the uncomplicated, light-hearted feeling that contemporary romance novels provide.
The Wedding Date is just the right book to give me my fix of fun, easy romance. It's yet another faux relationship trope, but this trope is just a hit all the time it really doesn't matter to me how many similar books I've already read. I think my favorite character in the book is the hero. Tere was just a good amount of depth to him. That being said, the heroine was also a very enjoyable character to read.
I haven't read anything from this author before, but I definitely enjoyed this book, so I'm pretty sure I will be checking her out again in the future.

I like those moments when men have the 'aha' about their women, "his chest swelled. She was one of the strongest people he knew. If he could do this relationship thing with anybody, it was her. “OK.” If she wanted to know, he’d tell her and trust her with the truth." I enjoyed this book I liked James.

Kelly Eadon's debut, The Wedding Date, is an exceptional sweet and smart contemporary romance read. It's well written with a hero and heroine that are charming and slightly flawed. Though the premise isn't unique, the characters and story line are. There's plenty to anticipate and just enough angst to keep your attention. It starts 10 years after their lone date, a high school prom, things are about to get more complicated. Kate is my favorite type of heroines. She's strong yet vulnerable and faces adversity head on. Where I would have cracked, Kate thrives. Her no-nonsense approach is risky and smart, and she doesn't second guess herself. It's this confidence that attracts James.
Eadon writes a charming and considerate man in James. He had me from the go. Due to some well-intentioned meddling, he's put in an awkward position with Kate. What I love about James is that he doesn't lose sight of what he wants with Kate and their chemistry is evident in their interactions. However, his life is complicated by an ex who just can't let go of him. But where I would usually find myself hating on this character, the ex, Brooke's situation made me sympathetic. Although it may be a case of too little too late, their history is long and the upstanding man he is handles this with thoughtfulness.
I loved watching these two fall for each other. I felt like I got Kate and James and my faith in them was well earned. As well, there's a great cast of secondary characters as Kates' friends & James' family add a genuineness to their growing involvement. Eadon takes a sticky situation and shapes it so that it showcase her characters. The Wedding Date is a perfect read when you need a smart pick me up, feel good story.
4. 5 Stars and my recommendation!

This was just like trying a complicated court case. You never knew exactly what was going to happen until it happened, All you could do was prepare and keep your composure.

The Wedding Date was a fun and enjoyable read.
I enjoyed the storyline, it was well written with great characters that you could easily connect with. I found both Kate and James engaging, fun, and they made it easy for me to fall in love with.
Kate and James had great chemistry and loved how this wasn't a case of instalove, sure they were attracted to each other from the get go but the deeper, longer lasting feelings took time to develop which I appreciated.

This is Kelly Eadon's debut novel, I was impressed with her writing and her characters. Looking forward to reading more from this talented author.

Of course when I read the blurb for this I said yup definitely have to read this and right away I fell in love with this story. The wedding date was cute, charming and adorably funny!
I'm going to start off with the characters. They were lovable, funny, and their personalities came out in each and every page. I really liked James and Kate and how they both liked one another but yet they weren't so certain about a relationship between them. I loved how we got dual povs and learned what made these two tick. They had great chemistry but they also had many laughs which kept me laughing.
I even liked the secondary characters. I'm telling you I couldn't find one person in this story that I didn't like. Kate had great friends and James had an awesome family. I was a little uncertain about James' ex but overall I liked the way Eadon had it turn out.
Even though the plot wasn't that original, I did like that the story just took off and that James and Kate actually knew each other from high school which gave it more of a realistic feel for there white lie.
The writing was fast paced and not once did I actually want to put this story down or start another one. It flowed really well and no major conflict really happened. I wouldn't want a major conflict for this book but maybe more of a medium size one. But overall I was pretty happy with the finished story.
I'm not sure if this will be a standalone book or if Eadon will end up turning this into a series or not but I can tell you I will definitely be keeping an eye out for upcoming books from her.

This book was everything I was looking for it being. Kate and James had sizzle-worthy chemistry, the families were hilarious and I loved the personality of Kate. She’s smart, relatable and not one to back down from a challenge.
Although these types of books can be predictable, this one still kept me wanting to quickly find out how the happily ever after was going to work out. I was still surprised at points to see where the story was going to take me and I had to laugh at the wedding shenanigans that James dealt with. This was just the book I needed and I will certainly read more by this author.
Warning: Contains some sexual references.
Who should read it? Folks looking for a nice rom-com style read!

all Kate Massie wants is to work her way into her dream job as a lawyer prosecuting child abuse cases, but with the economy not doing so well, the only job she's managed to get is working as a clerk for a judge. However, it seems her dating life might be taking a turn for the better when she runs into the young man that once took her to the junior prom, James Abell. Except he's totally changed from the shy boy he was into a handsome, confident man.
What a delightful, fast-paced, riveting read Ms. Eadon has written, encompassing the fake relationship trope, a heroine determined to achieve her dream, and a hero desperately in need of a date to his sister's wedding to get his mother off his back. I really liked how this story started with what happens to the heroine in the elevator amongst her work colleagues. What a ringtone her phone has.
As for the dialogue, the secondary characters certainly know how to put the hero and the heroine on the spot. They want this couple to be happy, especially Jame's friends and they think the heroine is perfect for him, would fit in with his family and win over his mother. Then there's the playful banter between James and Kate as well as the main characters and different members of the Abell family. The competitiveness of James and his brothers made me smile or laugh, because it seems to bring fun to Kate's life just as much as the men's.
I really liked both the main characters as much as the secondary ones. The Abell family could be a bit much at times for Kate, but I liked how she fit in with them. They treated her like family, which was surprising the way everyone talked about his overbearing mother. Kate is strong, brave, independent. But what I liked most about her was her willingness to help James because he needed her. Not just because of his mother, but because of his ex; a woman that doesn't know how to let go. His ex seems to use him all the time; to help decrease her stress since she's shy and doesn't like crowds. Yet, now that Kate has come into his life, he realizes he can't continue to help her.
While James, he's kind and caring. He's tired of his mother constantly annoying him about his love life. What business is it of hers. He can find his own woman. Just not his ex. That is finally over, and there's no going back to her. Knowing his ex needs to find a way to help herself, instead of using people to help with her condition. Luckily, his ex surprises him with her decision to get help.
Overall, this was a really good book where the couple's intense chemistry, which was there from the moment they came face-to-face again, for the first time in years, spilled over onto the pages in hot sex scenes. Kate is uncertain whether she's ready for a relationship, considering her stay in town is only supposed to be temporary. Yet, spending time with James has her falling hard for him. He's everything she'd want in a man if she was looking for a chance at happy ever after.
Ms. Eadon wrapped this story up nicely, despite the fact that they both reacted badly when James discovered the name of the heroine's ex-boyfriend. Apparently, her ex's father and James's dad are at odds due to business. However, the epilogue shows this couple are meant to be and that Kate is really good and happy at her new job. I would recommend Wedding Date by Kelly Eadon, if you enjoy the fake relationship trope, small town romances, or stories where a tight-knit family and the couple's friends want happiness for someone they care about, so they're determined to match-make.

4 “Sweet fake relationship” Stars
ARC via NetGalley
Thank you, Forever Yours!
Don’t judge a book by its cover, right? Except sometimes that works. Take the cover of "The Wedding Date” as an example. So sweet. Just like the story inside.
Kelly Eadon’s debut brings us one of my favorite tropes: fake relationships. I’m a sucker for how two strangers (or sometimes friends) get to know each other and fall in love while pretending to be a couple. This is what happens to Kate and James, the main characters in “The Wedding Date”.
Many years ago, Kate did a friend a favor and went with shy and nerdy James to junior-prom. Nothing happened between them back then and apparently they didn’t talk much after that. Life went on. Kate went to law school, James became an engineer. Kate had a few relationships, but nothing too serious. James spent nine years with his high school sweetheart but recently broke up with her. Now that she’s back in town after losing the job opportunity of her dreams, Kate and James are finally on the same page: single and interested.
Nerdy James has changed and is now Kate’s hot, sexy gym crush. He’s no longer the shy boy from junior-prom. He wants Kate and he makes it clear from the start. Hello, flirty, sexy man! *swoons* Except before he gets to the “I like you, so go out with me” part, he’s forced straight into a “pretend to be my girlfriend” phase.
That’s because James’ mother doesn’t seem to have noticed her son left his teenage years behind a while ago. She’s one of those moms that can’t let her children make decisions for their lives without meddling. With one son happily married and a daughter soon to be, James is the only one left for her to “fix”. Poor James doesn’t know how to stop the woman without lying to her.
Good thing Kate is willing to play fake girlfriend, and that’s what she ends up doing when she agrees to be James’ plus-one to his little sister’s wedding. What she wasn’t counting on was falling for him. Not a problem, since he fell for her, too. And the whole thing was pretty great to watch.
Kate and James’ story was incredibly sweet, and it wasn’t only because they were obviously made for each other, but also because of James’ family. Kate lost both her parents when she was very young, which means she hadn’t had the chance to experience what being a part of a big family meant before she met James. The Bells took Kate in with opened arms and, although dysfunctional, they were pretty entertaining.
James’ mother was a piece of work. There were many times I cringed seeing how she treated her grown-up children like they were little kids, but it was hard to dislike her when she showed us more than once that she had a great heart. The way she welcomed Kate and made sure she felt like part of the family (especially the gluten-free stuff in the end) was pretty amazing. Same for James’ brother and sister-in-law. They were a fun couple and treated Kate like an old friend. All of those characters made this story extra sweet.
I have to mention the dog for a second because he was adorable. Plus, I’m a dog person, so bonus points for having one.
This book was low on the drama, which is refreshing considering how many contemporary romances use complicated plot choices and heavy backstories to keep the couple apart for as long as possible. Not a critique. I loooooooove those, but every now and then it feels good to read something lighter.
So if you’re looking for a cute and sweet romance story with good side characters and an interesting, fun and crazy family, I highly recommend “The Wedding Date”.

I really like fake romances, and I love stories that take place over the course of a wedding. Let's face it if you are looking for something that has a ton of drama, chances are, a wedding is where you will find some. I love family dynamics in a story, and let's face it, this story had some very interesting family dynamics, as well as some interesting ex-files going on as well.
So to begin with I liked that Kate and James had a bit of a history going into this romance, they went to prom together, but never dated, and it seems like were not involved with each other in any way outside of that one night at prom. Of course life has changed them both, college is done, Kate is a lawyer, and James has grown out of his awkward phase and is a much more self-assured man (plus he's hot). So when the two of the start seeing each other at the gym years later, there is definitely an attraction. Add in some meddling friends and you have James going to his sisters wedding with Kate as his girlfriend, even though she isn't.
Kate has some real hang ups about relationships, she doesn't seem to believe people are going to stick around. I get it, she's largely on her own, with her sister being her only family, but at the same time I really wished she wouldn't have been so against being too invested. And honestly it's not like she really acted on her hang ups, just jumped to conclusions when it was really warranted. Overall, I liked Kate as a character, she was interesting, but more than that, she held her own in a situation where she really could have gotten run down by James's family during.
Now as for James, well I liked him a lot more than I liked Kate. He's a really good stand up guy. I liked how he stuck around with Kate after she got injured, he stayed the night on the couch, made sure she didn't have to go to the hospital (she hates hospitals), was just in general a good stand up guy. Nothing says more about how stand up he is then how he acts with his ex. He was with this woman for a really long time, like almost a decade, and this girl has some serious issues (and personally I think she needed professional help long before the events of this book). She gives neediness a new name, but James does his best to help her even though they have parted ways.
My biggest issue with this book was that I didn't feel like the book took place over enough time for the characters to have developed such deep feelings as they did. It felt like the book was on fast forward, but maybe that's just me, I really kind of hate stories that have insta-love elements to them, and that's what this book felt like to me. It was a fast read for me, with pretty good pacing throughout. So if you like a good fake romance, then this one might be one you should check out.

What more of my reviews? Check out my blog, Rolling with the Moments.
I really enjoyed Eadon's writing in The Wedding Date. It's witty and funny, and kept me engaged. I really like Kate's best friend, Ryan - he's one awesome dude. In the first few chapters, you get to see a lot of him, then, sadly, he kind of just drops off the map. It bummed me out a little bit. Ah, James, a sweet and swanky dude (...I'm not entirely sure what I mean by swanky, but it feels like the right fit - just roll with it). The best part? He's and an aerospace engineer. It's not a profession you often read about, and it's extra cool because my BNBF (Best Non-Book Friend) is one. As far as the rest of his character goes, he's a bit too much of a pushover for my liking - grow a pair, mate! Then there's Kate. I know she's a MC, but honestly? I could take or leave her character. I didn't feel too emotionally attached to her, but, speaking of emotions, she definitely has some emotional issues she needs to work on, like stat.
[Warning: The following paragraph is kind of spoiler-y, proceed at your own risk]
The only real issue I had with the book was the ending - maybe the last 2 or 3 chapters. Up until that point, everything is rolling along smoothly. We get to see Kate and James develop as their relationship begins to blur the line between fake and real, and they overcome a few minor problems that make them stronger. Then shit hits the fan, and they argue and break off what I'm not even sure was an actual real relationship. Queue some soul searching, and suddenly they've made a huge mistake and now they have to go pour their hearts out in a big mushy scene that has me rolling my eyes. AND after only 3 weeks, they're suddenly in love, so queue a HEA. That came out a bit more like a rant than intended... but I really hate it when books have an ending like that.
Anyways...
The Wedding Date is a cute and funny read that had me in stitches in places, and gave me a serious case of the feels in others. I've got my fingers crossed for a Ryan spin off novel. Anyone with me?

The Wedding Date by Kelly Eadon is a quick fun read. This relatively chaste contemporary romance may have a tried-and-true premise, but Eadon added some interesting and charming nuances that made it unique.
Eadon’s writing style is fun and flirty, and her story is engaging. Her characters are realistic and relatable. Kate and James both grew up in Belmont, but on opposite sides of town. Kate went to public school whereas James attended the posh, private Falston Prep School. What they do have in common is the desire to not become attached. They met in high school through a mutual friend, and their paths don’t cross again until Kate returns to Belmont after finishing law school.
The secondary characters are charming. Kate’s friends Ryan and Beth are funny. They, along with her sister, Rachel, are her lifelines. James’ extended family can be intimidating, but they take to Kate immediately and go along with James’ ruse that he and Kate are dating. I especially liked Margaret, James’ mom and Abell family matriarch. The old-money rivalries provided some awkward and funny moments. Eadon’s depiction of James’ ex-girlfriend’s anxiety disorder was tasteful and respectful.
The plot is fast paced, making The Wedding Date a very quick read. Between the pace and the engaging characters, I couldn’t put it down. While I enjoyed the chemistry between James and Kate, I didn’t quite buy the relationship conflict. The minimal angst was fine, but the conflict felt contrived. The story would have benefited from the conflict being drawn out and explored a bit further.
Overall, I found The Wedding Date to be charming and funny. I loved the character interaction and the big family wedding weekend. A tidy wrap-up provides a very satisfying HEA. Upbeat and lighthearted, The Wedding Date is a feel-good 3.5-star read.

3.5 STARS!
This is my first Kelly Eadon book and it will certainly not be my last. It is a great read when you want something light and easy to read. The characters are hilarious, especially everyone in the wedding party. I love how everyone is so close, you just want to be a part of it all.
Thoughts:
PLOT LINE - From the moment they met, the realization of how they were former dates to a junior prom was adorable. More so, since James remembers her before she remembers him. It means Kate had a impact on his life back then and will most likely have a bigger impact on his life now. It's like fate brought them back together. This story is the journey of a relationship blossoming from a fake one to a real one. He is already half in love with her...the only thing is having her realize that she was falling in love with him as well. I just find it hilarious how although they believe it's fake, it all feels real. So, they might as well make it official. With the help from his family, the dynamic between everyone makes the process even more enjoyable. There are a few bumps in the story that create a bit of drama, increasing the tension between James and Kate. It just shows that not everything is perfect as it may seem.
CHEMISTRY - It was definitely there when they first laid eyes on each other. Even though she didn't recognize him at first, she can feel the tension and spark. Not only did Kate have an instant connection with him, but also with his family. She played her role as his girlfriend so easily that she can't even tell if it was fake or not. What's great is that they were all so welcoming towards her. Sure, it may seem like just "3 week" relationship". It feels like they have known each other for years. It also didn't help when she fantasies about him (especially ones she shouldn't even imagine when his mother is in the room).
Overall, it was a fun read!

The Wedding Date is an adult contemporary romance novel by Kelly Eadon. It is marked at adult, but I felt like the characters were right on the border between New adult age and adult age, so I think The Wedding Date would appeal to fans of both age groups. Can I tell you guys a secret? (that is probably not much of a secret...at all) I am sucker for a fake relationship book. I know, that is not surprising at all, but I just can't get enough of them. They fit perfectly into the fun, light and romantic books I can't seem to get enough of. And The Wedding Date was all of that and more. It was a really fun read.
The Wedding Date is told in dual narrative between Kate and James. I really liked both of the characters. Neither one of them was dramatic at all, so it was very refreshing to see that there was none of the usual over dramatic "roadblocks" that the couple faced. Sure, there were road blocks but each and every one of them was dealt with in a calm, mature way. (mostly.) Again, that was very refreshing.
Kate and James have great chemistry. I could easily seem them being a fun, and laid back couple in real life. The Wedding Date was a bit predictable, just the way I wanted it to be. This is a great read to bring out to the pool or the beach for the warmer weather we have been having. Bring on the beach reads!
Bottom line: The Wedding Date is a feel good, fake relationship romance that is well written, with very likable characters. Whether the weather is beach weather already, or if you are just looking to get into a summer mindset, The Wedding Date is a great story to transport you to lazy summer days.
P.S. The main character Kate is a lawyer, so you know I liked that about her. :p

This novel was a truly enjoyable reading: there is romance, humor, family, friendship. The first pages are really hilarious, you get attached quickly to the protagonists and no longer able to leave, I read it in one breath. A false engagement, a wedding, a pushy and overactive mother-in-law how do you not love this story.
Kate has returned to Belmont but her dream is to live in a large city close to her sister, all that remains of her family. Her father died when she was 16 years old and her mother abandoned them when she just was a little children. In the gym she notices a very sexy guy. She doesn't know that he also has noticed her and especially that he was her junior-prom date. James instead recognizes her right away. James's sister is getting married and he doesn't have an escort. Their friend in common proposes a fake engagement. They are both very attracted to each other but are afraid that the other doesn't reciprocate. Will they figure out their real feelings?
All the characters are lovable, people who would like to know. Kate is a sweet girl, so much in need of love and is fascinated by the attention that James has towards her, no one has ever done it. Her life has always been complicated, but maybe it's coming happiness. James is a nice guy, good, helpful. He is also very thoughtful towards his ex-girlfriend if not love her anymore. I loved Greg, James's older brother, is really fun, with his wife form a really wonderful couple. And I enjoyed to see in action the mother of James.
This book is written really well, the pace is fast and flowing. It is written in third person but alternating the James and Kate's point of view: an excellent choice, has made the story much more compelling.
I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a romance light and easy but funny and very romantic

Kate Massie never wanted to return to Belmont, to the town where she was raised along with her sister and their single father before he died. She didn't want to remember, she was too afraid to show emotion, to let her feeling out and just cry. But after losing her dream internship at the Philadelphia DA's office, she was lucky that her law school professor had manage to find her a place in a federal judges office close to Belmont. So Kate was content to do her internship and leave Belmont in her rear view mirror.
What Kate wasn't expecting was running into her old friend and her junior prom date James Abell, she also wasn't expecting to agree to be his pretend girlfriend at his sisters wedding and she really wasn't expecting to fall in love with him.
But of course nothing is ever easy in Kate's life and when an ex boyfriend and James ex-fiancee threaten to spoil their blossoming relationship, Kate does the one thing she always does….she runs away…but is that the end of the story?
So I normally stay away from all of the cliché story lines, but the blurb attracted me to the story and oh boy! Does this book blow the old cliché out of the water. There is literally nothing about this book that I have read in this way before or had been used to death! This book was fresh and invigorating (in a strange sort of way) and it even left me feeling sorry for Brooke ( James ex). I absolutely loved James and Kate's characters and Kate's accident proneness had me in stitches. But by far the most stand out character for me was Margaret! Of my goodness what a pistol! I loved her.
So getting to the basics; the writing was smooth and detailed. I felt that the plot had no holes and was detailed and gripping and the characters were divinely detailed and lovable. It truly was a great book to read.
I give The Wedding Date 5 stars!

Finally! A book that holds my attention and keeps me reading and not wanting to do anything else! This story is fun and sweet and heartbreaking all at once. It many spots it had me wanting to scream out “No! Stop, just wait,” to the characters. It was like visualizing a train wreck unfolding before your eyes and not being able to stop it and I loved every second of it!
The author did a great job providing good descriptions and details but not over doing it. She still allowed her readers to have an imagination and to a certain extent make the characters their own. The details aren’t so over done that each reader has the ability to add certain touches to each character to view them as their own mind has created them, which is my favorite way to visualize characters. I do have to say that the author did an incredible job explaining some of the clothing – you’ll understand when you read it!
This author was a new author for me and I’m so incredibly glad I came across her work! This story is right up my alley as being my “go to” types of books. If I’m in a reading slump, I know they will pick me up and get me back to reading again. If I just need a good sweet read, I know I can go to these types of books and start reading and they will pump up my attitude. The author is really an all-around great writer and I can’t wait to read more of her work!

This is another one of those times when I wished the couple would just talk to each other more, but I’m pleased to say Eadon handles it in a way that never made me want to smack either of them :) Usually these things just frustrate me but she makes it work. There are little points of drama here and there throughout the story but nothing was ever too big.
Kate and James get together under false circumstances and jump straight into a pretend relationship so they skip a lot of the get-to-know-you steps. The crash course method of dating seems to work for them though (outside of that pesky sharing thoughts and feelings thing) … for the most part. But that’s where those small bits of drama comes in.
Because they skipped over the more traditional parts, there are things about both of them that would have come up but instead bites them on the behinds. With more time together and a trust built up between them, that’s where the good communications skills would have fixed it but without it there’s a bit of trouble. Plus everyone has baggage, it’s just that with the speed that things happen it seems heavier here :) and Eadon does a great job of resolving everything smoothly.
A fun story of a backwards romance, The Wedding Date is entertaining and best of all not too frustrating. The couple has their issues but they come across as real and the resolution is smooth.

Kate is back in Belmont a place she called home for most her life but a place she never really gave much thought in coming back to after college. When she runs into a guy at the gym she knows she much meet the star of her dreams. When she does she knows he will need to remain in the friend zone to keep her heart in tacked.
James in so happy to see her at the gym he can't wait to "run" into her again. He is beyond happy when his best friend gives him that chance but he not happy with her matchmaking or her crazy ideas. When Kate agrees to be his date to his sisters wedding will he be able to protect her from his crazy family?
I totally loved all the crazy fun characters in this book. It seemed to me like a backwards cinderella story, almost. Kate had dreams and James had dreams but making those dreams seemed almost impossible and the author did a great job at keeping the crazy in the story to a perfect amount to keep you drawn in and leaving you wanting more. I loved how it didn't feel drawn out but the perfect fun story. This is the perfect captivating summer read for any person who loves the perfect crazy not so perfect love story.
*there is strong language in this book

I loved everything about this book! From the cover to the writing inside, everything works together to create a beautiful story! Sometimes when your plans aren't working, they really are taking you to where you belong. Kate had her life all planned until budget cuts took her dream away from her and forces her to return home. She goes through the motions of her life until she can get back to her dreams. The hot guy Kate sees at the gym also gets into her dreams and when she bumps into him (literally) she finds out that this same hot guy is the nerdy one she went to junior prom with. Her friend who set her up that time convinces Kate to meet up with her and the hot guy, who happens to still be her friend and Kate accepts. The fun begins here! James needs a favor and Ainsley's matchmaking skills come out in full force. Kate decides to help because how hard can it be to fake being a date? Then she meets James' family and she starts rethinking her decision. Jame's family is hysterical and no matter how crazy they get you can feel their love. They embrace Kate and pull her right in. I really enjoyed the dilemma that James had with an ex and how he handled it. This book was not what I was expecting; it far exceeded my expectations. Great work by Kelly Eadon!!

A wedding is not a small affair in the Abell family. James has been putting off his mother about a date for awhile. With no interest in being tied down, James maintains he will go alone. But a meddlesome friend and his overbearing mother changes his plans in one conversation at the grocery store...Now James has been forced to pretend he has a girlfriend for his sister's wedding. Worse is that his friend made it sound like a serious relationship!
Running into James at the gym was the highlight of Kate's dull life right now. She's been lusting after his gorgeous bod since she joined. A chance reunion, drunken bravery, and her dumb friend later and she is a pretend date to his sister's wedding. How did this happen?
Neither want anything serious, right?
Neither wants to just be friends!
What happens at the wedding, does it stay there?
It's a sweet story of trying to help out the hottie. Plenty of chaos ensues and family happens. As bad as they are made out to be, I would join the Abells for any party. They are fun bunch with its of love- even if some is misguided.

Kate comes back to her home town after finding out that her dream job wasn't falling through and settled as a clerk. Lately shes been dreaming about some guy that goes to a gym she goes to and surprised that to find out she had went previously to a dance and now he all grown up. Not long after finding that out the set up an arrangement for her to be his fake date to his sisters wedding but the longer they are with each other the more those fake feelings turn into something more
I liked it, it was a fun book to read. Personally it felt like many books out there with the whole fake date turning into something more books but it was still fun to read anyways. I tend to find myself drawn to those types of books anyways. What I did like about this book was that even if it's similar to many books out there, there was plenty of differences that stood out. If your wondering what those differences are then you'll have to get ahold of this book because I wouldn't want to spoil the book for you! I did like the main characters, the story was well written and overall just a enjoyable book to read.

This book was ok. It wasn't original, but I was hoping for a nice, easy read, and I was disappointed. It wasn't that light or fun at all. This book dealt with some difficult issues such as mental illness, enablers and generally unhealthy interpersonal relationships. That alone isn't what made this story unenjoyable for me. It was just the unexpected nature of it that left me scratching my head.
I enjoyed the writing and the dual povs. The h was a strong woman, and I liked how independent she was. I was glad that the H was a genuinely nice guy and also not a manwhore. How refreshing. I appreciated how the MCs didn't just succumb to their lust right away, but that they took some time to get to know each other.
The drama wasn't OTT, but the story was also pretty boring. More character development was needed to make me care about what happened to the MCs. A lot of issues were glossed over and would've added some interest to the story has they been explored more. Overall, this was a little frustrating with a beta H (who just can't set boundaries with those he cares about), an emotionally closed off h, and a slightly boring story.

I have to say that the book started on a note that made me almost wish not to go forward - typical romance device plot of "needing a wedding date."
However, this book was pretty good. I enjoyed the writing, and I liked our main couple. Though I do have to say, some of the supporting characters were really great, especially the brother's of our hero. I also think the author did a great job in her depiction of the ex-girlfriend who has an anxiety disorder.
The wedding itself and all the events surrounding it were fun to read, because as I said, the family depicted were genuine and real, and funny.
A great romance to read when you want something a bit light, with true humor that will make you smile while you're reading.
3.5 stars - ARC received for honest review.

The Wedding Date was an ok read. Lots of drama (well for me anyways) and plot has been done before, but it was cute and fats paced.
James and Kate are getting their second chance. Years ago they went to the prom together. James was awkward and Kate was doing him a favor. Now Kate is back in her hometown (temporary she says) for a job, and now back in James's life.
Innocently she become James's wedding date to his sister's wedding. Then she becomes his fake girlfriend. Then things start to get real.
James's has a lot of baggage with his ex... who is still in his life. Kate is sweet and understanding.
Cute story.
