Every girl needs a guardian angel — even if he wears black leather. In the first novel of her scintillating True Brothers MC series, Gillian Archer introduces readers to a sexy-as-sin biker... and the woman wild enough to tame him. After dinner with the most arrogant man in the world, Jessica Miller is shocked when her blind date tries to maul her in the parking lot. Enter “Zag”: the brooding, bruising alpha male who jumps off his motorcycle and teaches the jerk a lesson he won’t forget. After getting one taste of a bad boy who lives on the edge, Jessica’s hooked. Zag’s willing to give her the ride of her life. But she needs to wrap her arms around his powerful chest and hold on — tight.
Zag knows firsthand that the True Brothers MC isn’t for the faint of heart. He only intends to show beautiful, innocent Jessica a few cheap thrills to satisfy her curiosity. But the more he lets her in, the more Zag comes to depend on her gentle touch to help heal the wounds that he’s been denying for so long. Now, a rival gang has set its sights on Jessica, and Zag must step up once again. He just hopes he can go the distance to protect the woman he loves.

I loved this book! I'm pretty careful about reading biker books because I don't enjoy the ones that have the club whore drama or the violence against women you get in some of these. This book has none of that.
Jessica meets Zag when he saves her from a possible rape from her blind date in a parking lot. She offers to buy him a drink in thanks and from there blooms their relationship. Not long into their relationship she witness a drug deal that has Zag making her his old lady to keep her safe. They are complete opposites and there are so many contradictions in this, book but it all works. They aren't each other's types, but they can't seem to stay away from each other. He's a biker, she's a good girl. He had a horrible upbringing and she had the Norman Rockwell childhood. He's quiet and all broody and I love how she handles him even though she is uncertain. She isn't whiny or nagging him to talk. You see them slowly fall in love even though it's in such a short time together.
I really hope Gillian Archer is going to write more books on some of the other characters in this book. Maybe with one of her best friends and his biker brothers. The opposites attract scenario made this book enjoyable for me so I would love to see more.

Ok what to say about this one. I didn’t love it, I liked it. I was so excited when I started this because I love a broody biker especially paired with his total opposite. A good girl with a great family and background.
I love an H that’s a badass brought to his knees by a woman. That didn’t feel like the case here. Was he protective of the h? Yes. Did he want her and only her? Yes. If it wasn’t for the few chapters we got in Zag’s POV though, I wouldn’t know he felt anything towards the h. He NEVER wanted to discuss his feelings. He NEVER thinks in his mind that he loves her. He only thinks she’s too good for him. They never really talk. When they’re together, they have sex.
I actually really liked the h for the most part. She was pretty judgemental at times though and that irritated me. She always felt guilty for it afterwards though and apologized for it and I respected that. As most of the book is from her POV, we know as readers how much she cares for Zag but until the end she also has doubts about whether she can make a life with him because he’s a biker.
So I had mixed feelings. Some of it, I really liked and some of it was just ok.
Should of trusted my gut. This smacks of the style Kristen Ashley made famous, but not the good KA, the tedious KA. The "in your own head" conversations that say nothing and take up space. Just not my cuppa. Not the early KA, but the later books that I had to push myself to read.
You may like this just fine and may read this and think it is right up your alley .. if so, I'm glad. We all have our own preferences. This one is just not for me.
Happy Reading!!

This was my first book by this author AND I LOVE IT. We have Zag and Jessica - they meet when Zag saves Jessica from possibly being raped.I liked how there wasn't too much drama but from other side something was happening in the story. This is softer version of MC book and it is happy ending!

This is a good start to a new MC series. I liked the writing, and storyline. The lead male character (Zag), had all the right dominant-bad-ass-biker- dude characteristics. I had a little bit of a hard time connecting with the lead female (Jessica). I know the author wrote her as 'innocent to the whole MC scene', but in some spots in the story, I found her annoying (I do like strong, confident lead female characters though). All in all this was a good read, and I look forward to seeing where the author goes with this series.
This review was facilitated by the generous gifting of Gillian Archer’s Ruthless (A True Brothers MC Novel) by its publisher Random House Publishing Group, in advance of its April 12, 2016 publication date, through a request on netgalley.com.
Fans of biker romances may enjoy the fast-paced, sexy style of Gillian Archer’s Ruthless but unfortunately, for me, the world of the True Brothers Motorcycle Club lacked the grittiness and plausibility that I have come to enjoy in this genre. For modern-day outlaws who thumb their noses at society, laws and rules, they are structured in surprisingly rigid, hierarchical, and secretive societies. That is why I could not fathom that the main female protagonist would be so swiftly introduced into their ranks, claimed as an “old lady” through a vote taken by the most important members of the MC, and be privy to internal information that could possibly land the members of the brotherhood in hot water with law enforcement, all in a matter of days.
The premise of the book was an interesting one because “fish-out-of-the-water” plotlines always make me chuckle. I enjoy tropes that have city slickers venture into ranch-land-ia or jaded celebrities end up in quaint, anonymous small towns. So, initially, I liked the author pairing a prim and proper, professional young woman and a rough and tough biker. Their interactions certainly had a lot of steam and I am sure many readers would enjoy the story simply by focusing on the romance between these two characters. However, like I said earlier, I enjoy more realism and grit in my biker books so, for me, Ruthless unfortunately missed the mark.
I enjoyed this biker romance, I liked the main characters and the story. My only issues were that it felt like the time line hopped forward too much, I wish we would have seen more scenes of the main characters starting their relationship. But overall I enjoyed it and will be reading the next book in the series.
This was my first book by this author. Since I follow the biker/MC romance genre I’m always looking for a fresh new take on that type of romance. I started reading and after a few pages I decided it was going to be another one of those mediocre biker romances but kept going so that I could provide an honest complete review of the book. That was a very good decision on my part because I soon realized I was hooked into the story and couldn’t put it down. When you have read as many biker/MC books as I have you love a story that doesn’t feel like the same old, same old. As I got further into this story I realized it had a “real” feel to it. Good girl meets bad boy MC member is a usual theme. However, in this tory the feelings both Jessica and Zag feel seemed genuine and reflected what a normal good girl would battle after entering into a relationship with a bad boy.
Jessica is a normal, good girl from a stable middle class family. She goes to work each day as a desk clerk at the casino, has two very close childhood friends and a Mother who is forever trying to find her a husband. She’s independent, intelligent and is instilled with solid family values. She’s not a virgin but she doesn’t have a vast sexual history. Zag is your usual hot, alpha, gorgeous man who was abandoned when he was 16 and picked up off the streets by Rebel, the president of the True Brothers MC. Rebel has raised Zag more or less as a son. I liked the way this author wrote about the closeness between Jessica and her family as well as Zag’s relationship with Rebel and his MC brothers. So different but yet somehow the same.
Another hot biker and a good girl. It felt a little rushed in places and the transition between voices was not always smooth. Her bff's are pretty cool, and I hope they get a Brother of their own.
I don't know what it is about bad boys, but these days, I really want them. Ruthless delivered, as Zag was deliciously bad, but not evil, if you know what I mean. He was the enforcer in the True Brothers MC, and I loved how he and Jessica met. Not because I enjoyed the violence against Jess (her date didn't take no for an answer after he had walked her to her car) but because Zag heard her scream from across the parking lot and came to her rescue. Just because he didn't agree with anyone putting their hands on a woman. Without her consent. What's not t love about that?
Jess was a bit hesitant to go further than one night with Zag, though, because she was a bit scared about the MC aspect of him. Was he in a gang? Just a club? Ruthless definitely shows the readers that we shouldn't judge too fast, and that sometimes the 'bad boys' are really the good ones. And that even if there are some bad apples - just like there can be anywhere - a whole group shouldn't suffer the consequences for the choices of a few.
Between the seriously hot chemistry Zag and Jess have from the start, and the lurking danger that surrounds them, Ruthless was an amazing start to this series, and I look forward to reading more about these true brothers. I read the 2nd book, Rebellious, first, and that didn't hamper my enjoyment even a little bit.
Written in first person, past tense, with chapters from either Jess or Zag's point of view, the story flowed seamlessly, and I really got to know the main characters very well. If you're looking for a hot biker to keep you company on a dark, cool fall night, Ruthless should make its way to your shelf.
I was starting to doubt if last night's sex was really worth this morning's awkwardness. Oh, who was I kidding? It so was.
"No screwing with you before your morning coffee. Got it." His lips rasped against my temple and I couldn't resist the urge to melt into his embrace just a little bit.
I love MC romance books, once I got a taste for them they have held a special place in my heart. So I am always on the lookout for a MC romance book I can sink my teeth into. From word one of this book I was hooked, The flow of this book really kept me interested and wanting to keep reading and the story made me not wanting to put this book down.
On a date that she didn't want to be on in the first place Jessica is shocked when her upstanding date tries to take advantage of her. When a man comes out of the darkness to save her, Jessica wants to thank him and also not to be alone. When Jessica see's who her hero is she is floored by his looks and that he is a biker. Getting drinks Jessica doesn't want the night to end. Zag didn't expect his night to end with a beautiful girl needing his help then wanting to buy him a drink and ending with her on his bike on the way to his home but thats just how it ends.
When Jessica wakes up at Zag's house she can't believe how her night ended and is both happy and sad to find that Zag is gone. Days later Jessica can't believe when she answers her phone that Zag is on the other line. Zag and Jessica are both so different. Jessica finds herself both feeling a pull for Zag and unsure because of his lifestyle, while Zag wants Jessica but also knows she is too good for him. What both can't deny is the attraction that they both find unable to resist.
While leaving work one night Jessica is happy and surprised to see Zag till she quickly realizes that the Man with the cut isn't Zag but one of his brothers selling drugs. Shocked and mad Jessica plans to end it with Zag but when Zag hears what happens Jessica quickly realizes she got it all wrong and Zag isn't like the brother Preacher in the parking lot, but the brother who she saw seeing drugs also saw her and now wants his revenge.
What Jessica thought was a night quickly turns into weeks and months and while Preacher is still out there Zag sets out to keep her safe. Jessica is quickly falling for Zag and at times she thinks Zag feels the same but he keeps a lot to himself and Jessica soon begins to wonder if they are on the same page. Then Jessica gets shocking news that she fears may change everything between Zag and her and with the added worry of Preacher still out their their lives may change in more ways than either of them could ever imagine.
I really liked this book, I loved Zag he does hold a lot to himself but I understood that and the reason behind it. He was a great hero possessive and strong, I loved that he didn't give up and also that he cared so much for people and also knew how to keep his integrity. I also really liked Jessica and I liked that opposites attracted in this book. Jessica isn't weak and I think she is perfect for Zag, he needed someone to pull him out of his mind and out of his past as well as out of his funks and she does that while showing him love and happiness he never knew.
There were a few times when I got frustrated with Jessica while reading this book. I didn't like that she seemed to "ditch" her friends when she and Zag got together, don't get me wrong I don't want a book with a girl gang who always have to put their two cents in and become irritating but Jessica even admits she basically neglects them and I didn't like that. My other pet peeve with her was that I think she questioned her and Zag too much, and I get it they are very different and their lives have been and still are vastly different but after a little bit I just thought ok your with him lets move on. Now saying that these things didn't bug me badly and didn't take me out of the story but they were little things that nagged me in the back of my mind at times.
This story is from both Zag and Jessica's pint of view but it is predominantly from Jessica's, and I think the author did a really great job switching between the two. I also liked that the chapter names are dates so we have a timeline of when things happened in this story. At first I completely missed that and had to go back when I finally read the chapter name, but even thought that is a little thing I really liked it. This is the first book I read from this author but it definitely won't be the last. I was really happy when I saw that this would be a series and I can't wait to not only read the books but to also see who book two will be about because there is a plethora of amazing characters in this book that I want to learn more about.
*Thank you Random House Publishing Group and Loveswept for this Arc for my honest review.
Now I had a blast with this story. I always love me some sexy bikers, and Ruthless gave me what I was in the mood for. I first want to say that the writing is engaging, you get sucked into the story pretty quickly. We have a pair of two people, that meet quite unexpectedly, have a one night stand which turns into more than that. The only issue I really had with this story was the heroine. I liked her for the most part, but to be honest, she was a bit out of control with the hero. It was like she had no brain in the beginning of the book, when he was around. She felt a bit weak at times, and I had a hard time connecting with her. But she eventually worked for me. I did like her quite a bit in the end. The hero is total bad boy, alpha male type. But I grew to really like how protective he is of her, even around her family and friends. i did love the biker clan here...especially Bobby and Regan. I am looking forward to seeing what she does with book two!!! Good job Gillian Archer.
This novel is intense and hard hitting, yet still ends with an ‘awww’ moment. Archer combines the best of real romance with characters that don’t necessarily fit the norm in a manner that left me reeling, in a good way. Archer makes danger both sexy and scary, cranking up the heat at times and the suspense at others for a package that is definitely well worth reading.
The distinction between gunrunning and drug dealing gangs and this MC was an important aspect of this novel, without detracting from the dangerous nature of the club members. Archer has created a cast of characters that are raw and real. The intensity with which they live their lives flows through the entire story. The reactive nature of these characters shows itself in a myriad of ways. Their intensity shines through in the way that they live, the way that they love, the way that they defend their own.
I fell in love with both of these main characters in very different ways. Zag’s intensity and air of danger, combined with his endless caring and worry created a paradox that made me melt. Jessica’s muddle-headedness made her priceless. I really enjoyed how we were given both main characters’ POVs at various points in time without a huge distinction or a break in flow. Archer simply made sure that readers knew what was on both of her characters’ minds.
I couldn’t put it down! This is a new to me author who will definitely be going on my watch list.

A biker, Zag, saves Jessica Miller from being harassed in the parking lot after a date. Jessica ends up asking Zag out for a drink and then one thing leads to another.
I thought this was a pretty great read. I really like Zag's alpha male character, but I felt he really didn't put as much effort into opening up about his past and his life like Jessica did. This was one of the things that prevented me from giving the book 5 stars. Zag did realize that he kept holding himself back, but even after realizing it he still kept things to himself. I really did like Jessica's character, she really wanted a relationship with Zag and was honest to herself about where their relationship was going. Could she live with someone who was into the biker lifestyle?
I can't wait to read more of this series and in the epilogue did it hint that there was something going on with Emily and Reb? Can't wait to read the next book, which, unfortunately won't be coming out until September! Until then I may have to distract myself by reading other books by Gillian Archer.

As much as I tried to "get into " the story, the storyline was too rushed for my taste. The writing was too fast and chopped . Almost the entire book is about keeping Jessica safe and finding Preacher, then Preacher appears , Jess ends up in the hospital and the next thing you know Preacher is being taken care of...by Zag alone. .Plot was somewhat predictable.
This was just one of the times where I had the feeling that I'm missing a part of the story.
About the characters... Jessica is too easy and too desperate. Now she is almost getting raped , the next minute she jumps in bed with the big bad biker ( whom she just met like 10 minutes ago) .
Another thing that irks me - if this is the first book from the True Brothers MC series , Zag and Jessica's story...basically we don't know anything about Zag, about his past, childhood , just bits and pieces here and there. Nothing solid to make the reader "feel " the character. We know more about Jessica than we know about Zag. If you are going to dedicate a book to a certain character but keep him in the shadows , under a veil of mystery, then I don't see the point of it. I had the feeling that the story was more about Jessica , I connected with her better than with Zag.
And the MC....well the MC....
Overall the book was ok. It gave me the feeling that this was the author's first book about an MC and I know that she can do better than this. I hope that her writing and storyline will improve with the following True Brothers books.
"I'd once heard someone claim a handshake was an extension of a man's cock. If that were really the case, Zag couldn't have any problems in the bedroom."
This was definitely a miss. I am disappointed. Do I wan to continue this series? Yes because I like the side characters. This always happens where I am curious of the side characters more than the main. The main characters are alright but they didn't get my attention enough. It was exciting in the beginning but it went down the hill.
I was enjoying the romance part of the book although like half of the time is always steamy sexy time, not that I am complaining but I wanted more storyline. The storyline felt patchy here and there. Like there was a story we are getting but it wasn't focused enough and I felt like the thing with Peacher was ignored and it only came back to wrap things up.
"His dark leather jacket gleamed softly in the harsh overhead light. But the white patch stretching over his large upper back was clearly visible -True Brothers - as weere the two grinning skulls beneath. So he wasn't just a guy in leathers - he was one of those bikers."
The story was ok. Jess was a little too much on the uptight end for me to really like her. Even when Zag loosened her up a little. Zag had the whole protective vibe going. The plot started off ok but the main event just kind of disappeared with no real explanation. It had its sweet moments but all in all nothing really moved me. Not much else to say about this. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. No rape. Yes to physical abuse but not by the H. Condoms but one time. Neither are Vs.
The Good: Um, it’s a relatively tame MC romance, and on the WTFery scale it’s about a 1-2. Zag’s backstory and the MC probably the best part of it all. Which leads me to…
The Bad: The sex is fast, but the story itself is fairly slow in building. It didn't engage me and by the end, while it did pick up a bit, there wasn’t enough of heart in the romance for it to work for me. Jessica is a bit dingy, even if she wants to live a little I just struggled to understand her actions and the fact that they were taken with each other might have worked IF I thought their sex was of the earth-shattering variety, but it just felt meh. The physical part of their relationship takes off like a rocket, but dialogue isn’t a high priority, alot of the story unfolds via their own internal musings, and I wasn’t a fan of Jessica or her friends, or family that much.
Everything Else: The danger is fairly standard, so there are no huge surprises. The story does pick up by the halfway point and it ends on a stronger note than it started. I can see the setup for future books, and while I wasn’t invested in Zag and Jessica’s romance, I wouldn’t completely rule out a return to this ‘verse.
I wanted to like it, but the heart of the story, the connection between Jessica and Zag, is tenuous at best. If you’re a big fan of MC romances though, you may enjoy this more than I did.

The white knight in shining armor who wears a black patched mc vest would do anything for his “Princess”. Zag and Jess met after she suffered through yet another blind date set up by her mom only to be in the hands of a guy who didn’t know what the word no meant. All it took was hearing Jess’s scream for Zag to come to her rescue. If it wasn’t for Zag, Jess could have ended up in a lot of trouble. You would think after that she would be leery of a big bad ass biker who clearly looked the part; not our Jess. Was it that Jess had a thing for him because he was the one who saved her or was it that spark that she felt when she was by him? Either way she wanted to have the one nighter with Mr. Tall, Dark and Dangerous. She was tired of the guys who her mom tried to hook her up with. Jess’s mom meant well but had no idea of who she actually had set Jess up with. Jess had always lived life safe. She came from the Norman Rockwell type of family; a mom and dad who loved each other, a couple of overprotective brothers, and a nephew. So what could be any better than to have her one time fling with the guy who saved her? She knew that she trusted Zag and was surprised after their time together that Zag wanted to keep seeing Jess as well.
Zag was in the biker life because of the drug addicted whore of a mother who brought home anyone and everyone and they would all take turns in beating the little boy until one day the little boy had grown and was now a teenager. So what would this award winning mother do; kick him out of course. Where does a kid go? He had been hanging around the MC so when Reb found out that Zag was without a home, he took him in. Zag eventually grew into be the enforcer for the mc as Reb was the president. So needless to say Zag had a hard time believing that anything can really be that good.
So what does this bad ass biker to with the “white picket fence” Jess? Does he keep corrupting her and pulling her deeper into the club life or does he see that his life is no place for a good girl like Jess? Is Jess willing to look past all of her preconceived notions of what a biker is and take that walk on the wild side for longer than a summer? Anytime Jess needs an ear to talk to she calls on her two best friends Emily and Nicole. Are her friends able to talk Jess out of this or does Zag cross a line one too many times for Jess to keep validating her relationship with him? This was a very good book with a lot of hotness, a couple of surprises and some humor to lighten some of the darker things. I will definitely be looking for the next book in this series to come out.

Good girls meets bad boy, meets...well...I'm not tellin'.
Jessica seems to be one of those girls who was raised by a totally respectable family with a good head on her shoulders. And of course the mother who likes to make her presence known by butting in to your every way of life. So when Jess finds herself on the blind date from hell...it's safe to say that she's had enough intervention from her mother. Good thing there was a stranger observing the aftermath of the worse date ever and came to save the day.
Zeb is one of the leaders (board members) of his MC. One of his duties revolves around security and making others safe. So when he literally saves Jess in the parking lot of a restaurant, the last thing he expected was to sit down and have a drink with her. Needless to say, the drink lead to a little somethin somethin and the rest is history. Well, not quite history, but a pretty good story nonetheless.
I was totally engrossed in this read. It had a time frame which helped me follow along. I got a little from both sides of the story. But I'll admit that this became somewhat confusing considering Jessica's side was written in the first person format and Zeb was written from the third person. Kind of hard to follow at first, but I adjusted. While reading the story, you're totally preparing yourself for the climax to hit, but then you're hit with a slight twist, that wasn't too much of a stretch, but still added to the drama. In the end......HEA. Of course, right? But here's the thing. I feel as though the other members of the MC were teased (just enough) to have me curious as to what's to come. I'll totally continue this series.

What a rush and what a darn good story. Archer did a great job of bring Zag, Jessica, Reb, Bobby and the rest of the True Brothers MC to life. A good a story has to have believable characters and characters that are easy for the reader to relate to. So, the author scores points here as well. The True Brothers MC aren't one of those outlaw biker gangs but they don't where halos either. To have the straight laced Jessica stumble in Zag's world changes everything for the both of them. The story is fast paced with smoking leads and interesting secondary characters. Has a bad guy that I wish made more appearances but when Preacher did show up it was definitely worth the reader's time. Overall, a really good read.

Jessica is having a bad date and then is rescue by a hot guy who also is a biker. They hook up and she is all over him. They relationship is basically just sex and then danger goes by her door and Zag will do everything to be her knight.
Jess is the good girl-tell by her- yet for me she has 13 instead of 28. She all over a guy she barely knows. She has a crap job and her mother wants to set-up her with any guy she sees. Jess thinks different and has sex with no friendship with the guy.
Her friends worry about her relationship with this guy she knows nothing at all. And Jessica as the adult she is-acts likes a fish and tell her friends that is her problems. Yeh ok still she was really bitch for no reason. Just caring about her.
Zag seems a cute guy. Wants just sex. thanks he does not go all alpha on her. After the incident he reclaims as his old lady. And the woman go all crazy towards him. She was wondering what they are and goes bat-shit-crazy towards him??? So... Zag the guy after that is hot-cold towards her. Seriously, the guy is a bully with her.
Jessica ditched her friends and family because she was too busy with him. To all that said, she is going to present her boyfriend to her friends. Short story, she tells her friend that if Nic wants to be her life she has to change cuz Nic is a bad friend. Nic says that she has no opinion.......... and what happens
This book wasn't as over the top as most of the MC Books that I read, but it was a good story, I enjoyed the plot. Zag and Jessica's chemistry was HOT and sexy
Zag was part of an MC Biker Club and had a rough life growing up until he find the MC and found his home. Jessica was just your normal average girl next door type of character.
The two meet when Jessica goes on a blind date and the guy starts to get a bit handsy with her and Zag comes to her rescue. And then she does something she's never done before, puts herself out there and goes home with the 'Bad Boy'.
From there it was up and down but totally worth the read in the end.
I seriously loved a few things about this book. I loved the no BS club drama aspect of this biker book. There wasn't club girls and crazy shady stuff going on which was refreshing because that's what most MC books are like. But it still didn't really feel like a MC book which kinda threw me off.
I enjoyed the insta lust and connection but was turned off by the first sex scene after such a traumatic thing possible happening. It just seemed a little too much for me.

Besides those things I loved how they came together and even how easy they seemed to click. I'm looking forward to the next book.
This is a hard one to review, I liked the book but I didn't love it. This is a story of a MC bad ass meeting a good girl and with things happening around them, she becomes his 'Old Lady' and they make a go of it. There were a few things that happen during the beginning of the story that just didn't sit will with me.
3.5 stars copy received for review this is the first book in a series of MC books. The MC is not the drug, women and guns type. However, they are not angels either. Told from dual points of view and with an easy style that allows the reader to get to know the characters. Zag and Jessica meet when her rescues her from an over zealous blind date. Jessica wants a walk on the wild side and she spends the night with her hot biker. One night was not enough. Before she knows it, Jessica is in a relationship with said biker. I liked the story because Jessica's thoughts and feelings were realistic. She had doubts about Zag and his lifestyle. In most books, the women seem to just accept everything. Jessica was cautious and held off letting him into her personal life. Zag had his own insecurities and Jessica caught him off guard, too. this was one of the best features of the story. It was more realistic than some. No instant love and a lot of second thought. There was not a lot of unnecessary drama and added conflict.
Well, my foray into the MC genre has made something clear: the grittier and darker stories make me uncomfortable and I'm more suited to MC-lite romances. Unfortunately, the only way I can determine which ones are of the lite variety is to read them. But I digress.
Don't you just hate when people around you (hint: your mom) keep going on and on about your single status, how you're not getting any younger and need to settle down and start a family? I know I hated it when I was single and it's still a hot button for me to this day. Like dating isn't already hard enough, especially for women.
Poor Jessica Miller had to contend with that and in order to keep the peace with her mom, she decides to take her up on the offer to set her up on a blind date with nice young man. Bad idea! Said nice young man turns out to be not so nice when he sticks her with the bill after ordering up the priciest items on the menu. As if that wasn't bad enough, turns out he's also an octopus with wandering hands and won't take no for an answer. What a prize. Not.
What do you know? The biker that everyone would warn her away from is the one who comes to her rescue and actually behaves like a gentleman, but also gives her the hottest sex of her life. But Zag is from a different world and she can't see them going beyond the one night. Well, Zag doesn't agree with her and shows her why one night is not enough.
With the mind-blowing orgasms comes the dark, illicit dealings of Zag's world and when Jessica is endangered by one of his biker brothers, Zag is determined to keep her safe even against her will. Will they be able to walk away from each other after the danger is gone?
This book was sweeter than I expected and I love that both Zag and Jessica didn't focus on their differences, but dug deep to find the best in each other. I had a blast reading this book because there were so many hilarious moments.
RUTHLESS is a reminder that love comes in all forms and not to reject the best thing that could happen to you because it doesn't come in the expected packaging. I really enjoyed it and I'll definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys biker romances but without the darkness and grit.

Jessica Miller works at the front desk of a casino in Las Vegas. She has a family who wants her to settle down and a very meddling mother. On a blind date one night with a lawyer, after totally annoying her at dinner, he starts to drunkenly assault her as they leave. Fighting back, a man comes to her rescue.
Zag belongs to the True Brothers Motorcycle Club (MC). He removes the drunken lawyer and makes sure Jessica is okay. Jessica is immediately drawn to him. She asks him if she can buy him a drink - he reluctantly agrees. Then she asks for a ride on his motorcycle. All of this ends in a one night stand. Or so she thinks. Zag starts to come around more and more - and their romance heats up. But when Jessica witnesses one of Zag's MC brothers dealing drugs in the casino parking garage, all bets are off. Jessica wants nothing to do with that. When she learns this brother is trouble and will be removed from the club, she warms back up to Zag but the ousted brother turns his sights towards Jessica.
I always get excited for a new MC series to be released - but this one only caused lukewarm excitement. It felt like a standard MC book, with a little action, some dirty sex but nothing that really stood out. I like that Jessica pursues Zag despite her friends quick judgement on her dating a MC guy. She stands up for herself and I approved of that. Zag is gruff, with long hair and an attitude. A typical MC hero. Their romance turns out to be okay but it felt more as if we just skim along the surface and we don't dive deep into their personalities or any actual layers. Almost like it's a set formula - they have a one night stand. Then it turns into a little more. Then we have some drama. Then we get back together. Then Jessica is in danger. Then Zag and company save the day.
I would have enjoyed getting to know the MC club a little better too. We meet some brothers and their old ladies but I'm not sure I got a good grasp on the culture of their club.
I don't need dark and gritty MC books - this is definitely more on the tame side so that may appeal to some. But it felt a little too safe for me.
Ok I am awake enough to write my review! As you can see I stayed up half the night to finish! I couldn't put it down. Very interesting read! The two characters have instant attraction and nothing like a female lead that takes what she wants. I really like this style because women are always considered sluts if they want sex and take it. Not the case needs are for everyone and we should be called studs just like men are who take what they want. Ok off soap box.
I liked Zag. He was very well developed and we got a great shot of his terrible childhood and why he is who he is. I also liked how he reached out to others to help them along as others helped him. He was a great lover. He did have faults, because he really couldn't deal with his feelings for Jessica at times. Other times he was too far into his head. He wasn't a "young" guy which made him more mature with his actions.
Jessica grew on me. She never gave off that I am better then you vibe, which the heroine sometimes has in these MC books. She was a tad flim-flammy about standing up for herself at first, but Zag brought out the best in her. Jessica always seemed to accept Zag, even when she was scared and if she overreacted she pulled back and adjusted. She always stood up for Zag. I thought her family's reactions were kinda not normal at the end, but it just showed how Jess reflected how she was raised.
No real hardcore MC stuff, so if you are looking for that it is not there. The family aspect and the we protect what is ours is there. There are no trashy females trying to sleep with the hero and thank goodness no cat fighting and cheating. Just a good all around book. I enjoyed it and hope you do too. I want to read the next one for sure!
