Frank and Joe Hardy finish up a case helping a fellow ATAC (American Teens
Against Crime) agent, whose sharp-eyed fans may recognize despite her Alias.
Things seem to quiet down when ATAC sends Frank and Joe undercover to
investigate a new Mall opening in Bayport, due to several suspicious
accidents there. But things get exciting when the night before the big
opening, Joe, Frank, and seven others are mysteriously locked in the mall
-with a murderer on the loose. If that wasn't enough, everything that could
go horribly wrong in a mall, does. A flood caused by water beds. An
electrocution at an electronics shop. A bow and arrow used to kill in the
Sporting Goods store. A runaway elevator. A damsel in distress in the dress
shop. Fire in the food court. And much, much more. Ages 8 to 12.

This is the first book I've read in a series of Hardy Boys graphic novels. The art, by Daniel Rendon, is nice but more manga-ish than I'd prefer.

I enjoyed this book, though it's got a couple of problems. First, I had some trouble suspending my disbelief; the title characters are involved in a secret organization and face death an awfully large number of times. Second, and perhaps worse, I couldn't keep track of which brother was which! Maybe that's just me.

Having said that, the mystery was interesting and I look forward to reading more.

Having read Hardy Boys all through my teen years when I saw the graphic novel I picked it up as a guilty please. Seems like they're very strongly targeting the teens. Maybe the teens of today might like, but I still swear by the Boys of yore.

I like how Mr.Spratt is the owner of the mall but try to destroy it for money and want to build a casino after it explode. The plot was great like how no one figure out it was the owner until much later.

Uhh? They were trapped in a mall for no obvious reason at least on their end. Well, yeah, not really exciting for me.
