Book 1

"It's Daniels."

All sixteen-year-old Faith Daniels, or Daniels for short, wanted was a chance. A chance to forget her dark past and forge her own future. But that's hard to do when your past is full of great darkness.

Death always comes at a hefty price, more so, when you're unsure if you've carried out such a sentence.

Given the chance to break free from her hometown with an officer by her side, Daniels will find out that sometimes it's not the past you have to be worried about; the future can be just as scary. Especially in a new town where three hot neighbor guys want your attention.
As Tyler, Kayden and Lincoln McGuire try to break down the walls Daniels has formed; things get a little out of hand.
Maybe it was the dumb mutt that kept harassing her or the crazy cop foster parent that seemed to keep her on her toes, either way; Daniels walls were cracking.
Sometimes it takes more than just one guy to keep your walls down. To gain your trust. To help you love again.
Maybe for Daniels, three hot guys was her lucky number. Or perhaps, it was all about the mutt.

This honestly isn't something I enjoyed. I wasn't really expecting much, so if I still end up disappointed that's.. definitely saying something.

I'm not going to be very elaborate here. Bullet points:
- Flat characters
- No development
- Random, instalove-ish stuff
- No real chemistry
- Hate the ending. Things finally get truly interesting and boom. The end.
- Writing is mediocre. Felt like certain things were repeated over and over.

All in all, I'm not even tempted to pick up the sequel.

It was a freebie so I shouldn't complain. But it was pretty boring and unexciting.
I guess the lenght doesn't help. The characters don't have time to see any developpment, neither do their relationships. The "love" came out of nowhere, kind of like the ball she's it with at the begining. I was wondering if I had skipped some chapters but no, I didn't. It was also very difficult to connect with the heroine.

It might have only been an introduction book but unfortunately it did not make me want to read more.

Title: Love Is Not Lost
Series: Faith, #1
Author: Nikki Bolvair
Rating: 3.75 Stars
“I refuse to be like my brothers, Faith,” Tyler whispered in my ear. “I won't be the one stealing your kisses. I want to be the one stealing your heart.”

While the book was good and enjoyed it, I feel like it was much too short.

The chemistry between Daniels and the guys felt slightly unreal. How she let them in and trusted them so quickly after all she had been through fell too close to insta-love for me but I did love them together nonetheless and how the McGuire boys cared for her.
“I had already asked them if there were any bears, and when they said yes, I proceeded to ask what I should do if I encountered one. Back away slowly or play dead. In my mind's eye, I just saw me pushing Kayden in front of me as a sacrifice.”

The book was interesting and since it was a reverse harem, how could I not enjoy it? I only wish it would have been longer. But I will be sure to pick up the second book in the series, Brokenly Found, right away!

I liked this book. I felt like the story was really short and it went by really fast which was my main problem with it. I am all for a fast paced book, but if the book is going so fast that I don't really have a chance to connect with the characters or the plot, I have a problem. I felt like Nikki Bolvair flew through the story and didn't really add details to the scenes she was writing. There wasn't really any backstory to the characters or any character development.
I think that if Nikki would have slowed down the scenes and added more detail to the character descriptions, the story would have been so much better. For example, we were never told what hair color Tyler, Kayden, Lincoln or Daniels have. The author described eye color slightly but assuming the cover of the book is Daniels and she has blonde hair, we were never given a more accurate description of her or the boys. I find this a little ridiculous. How am I supposed to visualize the characters if I don't know what they look like?
Besides these issues, I liked the story and I think it has potential. I hope that the author slows it down and provides more details in the future because that will make the story ten times better. I also hope that the next book itself is longer. I will be continuing the series because even though it has its faults, it is entertaining and I would like to know where the story is going.

I was intrigued by the plot, but I didn't like the narration at all. Faith doesn't spend time with any of the guys before they all say that they start having feelings for each other. Everything felt rushed but all of the relationships, both romantic and with friends, seem to not really have chemistry. It's also not clear how old all of Faith's new friends are.

What I really liked though is HotShot, the German Shepherd.

This wasn't really the story I was expecting and I wouldn't say I loved it but I did read it and wanted to know more.
I like Tyler but I'm not so sure about his brothers.
The cliff hanger ending has me wanting to read more

"Shut up, Daniels,” was all I got before warm lips touched mine. Lincoln's hand moved fromy my chin to the back of my neck, holding me to him as he thoroughly kissed me. His lips were soft and welcoming.

" I had never been in a guy's room, but I had never been kissed before either"

What the hell? You've just been kissed and now you say you haven't been kissed. Ms Nikki Bolvair, there's a big discrepancy right here.

As for the book, I thought it was bland and boring. In honesty, I couldn't really finish it and mark it as 'read' anyways. There wasn't much character and plot development. There's not much connection we, as the reader, can make with the characters. Faith Daniels or Daniels as she like to overly state to be called, is a foster child and has been for a couple of years, until Officer Brady and his wife decides to adopt her for real. They move to New York and there Daniels meets the McGuire brothers (their neighbours) , where she develops a seemingly romantic relationship with them (this was too sudden in my opinion; there wasn't much getting to know each other). Through the brothers and the college she goes to, she meets their sister, Raina, as well as Wendy and Kane (who are twins) and Wendy's boyfriend, Peter. Daniels doesn't want to open up with them as her past was painful and difficult.

All in all, I don't think I'll be continue reading the next books in this series.

Four "It's Daniel's Stars"

We meet Faith Daniel's when she's in the back of a cop car, yet again being accused and questioned about a crime she didn't commit. Thankfully an officer named Brady, who's been looking out for her since that horrible day when she was 13 comes to take her home and unlike every other time he and his wife want to adopt her and move to New York.
Faith knows this is an opportunity to leave all the bad memories behind and start over but little does she know moving to New York will be bringing up those memories tenfold all while starting new ones.
Tyler, Lincoln and Kayden feel an unexplainable pull towards Faith and they'll do anything to make sure she is safe.
So far, I'm addicted to this series, I speed read the first last night and I'm halfway through the second one. On a reverse harem scale, this one is great.

I liked this. It had a Ghost Bird like feeling, kinda cute, probably with more mature content. Felt a bit short in an intruduction kind of way, and even though I mostly dislike the love at first shight type of scenerio, I got over it pretty fast, since the author did a great job, making their relationship (or the beginning of it) feel natural. I hope we get some outside conflict beside the heroines past and get tó know the boys a bit more.
Since I started with stating how similar it felt to Ghost Bird, I need to point out that - for me at last- the Academy's awesomeness resides in the layered and somewhat realistic characters. I haven't seen that here YET! But one van only hope, we still have Time for that.

Love Is Not Lost begins when Daniels is suppose to meet up with Officer Brady. She knows he's going to tell her that he and his wife are moving, but when he asks her to join them things get turned upside down. She's always cared about Brady, but now it's more. And when the three boys who live by her won't leave her alone things get even more intense for Daniels.

This book was really interesting. I enjoyed how Daniels acted throughout the story. She had been through a whole lot, but still kept her head up. I also enjoyed the three brothers by her side as well. I just wish there had been a little bit more to the story.
Other than that I did like it.

Loving those MacGuires!

First off, I'm a huge fan of the reverse harem-type books. Second, the author wrote some very painful, sob-inducing scenes mixed right in with literal laugh out loud moments. I was reading this in the tub and the Hubs had to come check on me because I was crying so hard! Of course he laughed at me when I had to save the kindle at him, lol. So grateful I don't have to wait long until book 2 (just three days until payday!)

DNF at 61% b/c I can't even sum up enough energy to rant about how bad this is.

Ha, just kidding. Ranting is where I get my life force from.

I love food. That being stated, I would honestly prefer not to eat anything for two whole days rather than read any more of this shit. That's how much I hated it.

If I didn't need my kindle so much I would've set fire to it just so that I could have the pleasure of watching Faith's agonizing monologue go up in flames.

I actually feel like self-harming just a little bit so that I can focus on any other pain but this.

I can feel the madness starting to spread. AND. IT. IS. ALL. THIS. FUCKING. BOOK'S. FAULT.

DIE. DIE. DIE.

Reasons why my mental state is deteriorating after this:

• What a bore.

• The MC is opening up to three complete strangers about her life when there's absolutely no reason to. There's no chemistry between them and zero connection, the brothers were nice to her and BAM next thing you know they're important to her.

• Daniels is always mentally complaining about whatever but ends up going with it anyway. Does she not get the meaning of speaking up, or does she simply enjoy whining that much?

• Why in the blazing hells do the guys like her? They know next to nothing about each other. The only reason they even know anything at all is b/c Daniels can't say no when people push her.

• All that I know about her is that she had a tragic past, was an orphan, woe is her, nobody understood her, she couldn't afford to get close to anyone. I couldn't get a feel for her which just goes to show how completely lacking in basic emotions this girl is. Everything read like a bad script.

• The so-called love story felt the same as if I had gone to the supermarket, the cashier had told me to have a good day, and I suddenly started to hang out at his place of work b/c wow, he treats me so well.

WHEN I DIE I HOPE TO HAVE A TALK WITH THE BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UNIVERSE ABOUT THIS BOOK. Y'KNOW, SO THAT I CAN BEG IT TO PRETTY PLEASE ERASE IT FROM EXISTENCE.

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS, NOT BIG, BUT MAYBE SOME SMALL.

I really liked this book, but as any other book, there were some things I didn't like.

I got really frustrated when starting this book, as I never got a real description of the main characters. I know how Kayden looks like somewhat, and I know Faith's and Taylor's age. But that's it. Nothing more really. It annoyed me more when I got a full out description on two of the supporting characters; Wendy and Kane. So this confuses me. I need more information about the main characters.

The second thing that bothered me was that the book was very fast paced, at least the first half or more of the book. A lot of scenes were skipped, it felt like. It was more of a summary. First they meet, then Faith opens up a bit to Taylor, then a week flies by, and then they're all a lot more comfortable with each other, even when the only scenes between were between Faith and Taylor. I miss the build up, the scenes where they get to know each other and slowly start to trust and fall in love. Her walls, in my opinion, seemed to fall apart way too fast. But that was most likely just because a lot of days where skipped.

I managed to see past this later on, luckily. It still annoys me a bit since this story really has the potential. Other than that, it is overall good. Cute moments between the guys and Faith. It was the type of book where I couldn't just put it down, I had to continue reading. So if you can see past the faults, then I really recommend this book.

So I was interested in reading polyam relationships lately, after reading a couple of books featuring it (recently Dance or Die). However, most books that have a three-person relationship kind of end just as they all get together, and there is usually some supernatural element or it's just erotic fiction (not what I want). I want to know how they manage everyday things and normal life events like marriage and children. So that is the reason I decided to read this series, because I know it goes through all those things, based on the blurb. Now unfortunately, it has three male love interests which is just way too many. I don't like reverse harems and anything more that two guys is just ridiculous. Also, the books in this series are so short. I don't understand why someone would write an ebook less that 200 pages. Just make it a one-off novella or write a full-length book. This one is like 85 pages. I know the later books are a bit longer, but they're still only half a book. Anyway, there are so few series like this so beggars can't be choosers.

The writing was good at the beginning and I liked Faith's backstory, but the writing of the romance was just bad. It was instalove and it made me feel weird that Faith is 16 and Tyler is 21. I liked the book but obviously didn't love it.

Emotional but good start

The MC has a lot of emotional baggage that makes her endearing and tough. She is very mature due into her experiences. The instant attractions from the guys was a bit much though. I mean she is 16 and they are in college -20ish. I mean I guess, but I was surprised that didn't play a factor in all of this. I saw the connection between the supporting characters and the MC before it was fully stated. All this aside, the story itself was well written and executed. I was entertained enough to want to read the next one. I would rate this as 3.5 just because I'm not a super fan of little character development (at least on the guys part) and instant attraction with little to no build up.

I actually really enjoyed the book which surprised me a bit. I enjoyed the characters and the plot wasn't boring me to death. The choice that Faith made at the very end kinda annoyed me but I could live with it. Id also love to continue the series but...there is a big but...the next book is only 188 pages long. All of the books are more on the short side and I think 3.36€ for each book (especially the 2nd one) is a bit much. This one was 220 pages and I read it in under two hours. Not sure I'm willing to pay almost 14€ for a series than I'm not sure I'll continue to love and that could of probably been put into 3 books instead of 5. Not gonna drop it, but also not continuing it right away.

Unanswered questions

I read this book from start to finish in 1 sitting. I liked the book not going to say loved it because it was a little all over the place and rushed if you ask me. It's mentioned in the book about 1 of the characters potentially singling out the MC because of what 1 of the brothers does but then nothing else is said about it after that. That character is only mentioned one other the after that. So I didn't really see the point in the character even been in the book.

Okay, I am really torn about this one. On one hand I really enjoyed it, it was sweet and cute and sometimes funny while also mentioning tough situations. On the other hand there are soooo many logical errors! Like how come none of the others connect the dots that she is the sister? How come her guardians are happy for her to spend a lot of time with three boys after her upbringing? And don't get my started on the name of the cop! Seriously Tom Brady?!?!
Anyway off to the next, that ending has me in a lock

Let me tell you, the book is good. I really really loved it, but there are things I didn't like.
The story was rushed. She somehow fell in love with the three brothers and they did with her too. There is no character development. I really don't know anything than the names of all the characters and it's a pity because if the author had put more effort into describing them and so writing a book a little much longer, I would have loved and enjoyed it more.

So Faith is a troubled foster kid...but don't call her Faith, she likes to go by Daniels...which is stupid, and a huge deal to her. She is eventually adopted by a cop that has arrested her a couple of times and they move. She soon meets 3 brothers and they all become stupidly obsessed with each other.

I think the absolute worst part of this was that being called Daniels is really stupid...and insisting people do it to the point of being a petulant child is more stupid.

Daniels has been in foster care since the night her parents died. Officer Brady and his wife offer her a chance out of reliving that nightmare and when they move to a new town her new neighbours, Kayden, Tyler, & Lincoln, bring light to her life that hasn’t been there for years.
Good book. I like how Daniels is full of confidence and fear of the past and trust at the same time. Her character is starting to grow. I look forward to more.

So the reason I gave this four stars is because, although it is categorized as a reverse harem, it really isn't. It's just about teenagers trying to find their way, who they like and who they don't like. Unless it progresses as time goes on this is just a teenage angst kind of book.

Now that being said, this book made me cry. Like a lot. It's so sad. I'm going to read the rest of it. Normally I wouldn't read this type of book but I don't know something's just drawn me in.

Awesome book!

I just read this book and I seriously have a “book hangover”! It was great. I can’t wait to start reading book 2. I usually love paranormal but Daniels and her guys keep me interested even without the paranormal side. I’ve recently started reading RH and this so far is a series to be read.

Emotional book

It has some triggers with abuse and alcoholism but it’s not big in your face. It’s an emotional book without making you feel heavy at the end! Loved the mc and the guys are all cute and sweet which is nice. Really like the way she’s fleshing out the supporting characters! Really good read and I’m looking forward to book 2!

Cliffhangers

This is a interesting book. It is some what confusing at times. Which makes it a little harder to follow. Cliffhangers really suck though. They drive me insane. Leaving a book on a massive cliffhanger isn't something I like. This one though annoyed me. A lot. The cliffhanger was very abrupt. No build up.
