Since I was a young child I was diagnosed again and again. First milk allergies, then colitis, later Crohns and finally a year ago after a blood test I was diagnosed with Celiac. Going gluten free has improved my life yet there are still flare ups that I am still learning to manage. This book gave me guidance on understanding a disease that has affected me my whole life.
Very informational and helpful for someone just recently being diagnosed with Celiac Disease and/or Gluten Intolerance. Features a ton of information and recipes to help ease the switch to Gluten Free.
Appears to be a decent overview, but the occasional foray into pseudoscience (e.g. intercessory prayer) leads one to question how much of it is grounded in reality.
Perhaps I have come to the point of knowing all there is to know. I live in hope of picking up a new addition that has more information. The one surprise I found was that "McDonalds, Wendy's and Subway" have gluten free options now. Obviously only in the U.S. and we will have to wait another 10 years before it reaches us!!
This may surprise you if you know me but this book was too warm and fuzy with an edge of 'militant.' I think for those who live alone this would be the perfect book to learn about the disease and provide suggestions.
