Gold, princess and sparkles make this an eye-catcher for especially middle grade girls. The fact that it is golden and not pink adds an extra bonus. The shimmering glitter on the front cover surrounding the pretty lettering already gives this a special, girly touch while still remaining tasteful.

The Bible follows the International Children's Bible translation, one which parents should be aware of the translation differences. For example in this version, the very first verse in Genesis—'...God created the heavens and the earth'—is translated as '...God created the sky and the earth.' Which does give an entire different meaning and as a 'simplifying for younger minds' is arguably necessary. These slight differences pop up here and there and simply should be taken note of.

Verses which can be beneficial to remember or hold special meaning are highlighted in light gray and important or difficult repeated words are in bold lettering. These words and their meanings can be found at the back in a short dictionary. There are also sections at the end with helpful tidbits like 'Where Do I Find It?', 'What God Promises About' and 'Memory Verses for My Life'. Each of these is easy to use and practical for the age group. At the bottom of the pages in the Bible, words or phrases which might need a bit more background are very briefly explained.

One of the nicest aspects of this Bible are the illustrations. Twenty-four very bright and colorful illustrations are placed in groups of four throughout the Bible. They are centered around the more popular stories such as the Creation, David and Goliath, Walking on Water and such. They are kid appropriate while still holding a bit of the traditional Bible feel.

All in all, it's a lovely Bible for girls ages 9 and up. It has a subtle girl style with several helpful aspects inside. Still, it is a traditional Bible without an overfill on frills, making it nice to take along to Bible studies and such.

I received a complimentary copy through Booklook Bloggers and found it wonderful enough to want to leave my honest thoughts.

Isn't the cover of this Bible absolutely adorable? Never have I seen a Bible with such a whimsical yet appropriate cover. I have certainly seen other themed Bibles, but this one seems one of the best since the illustrations on the cover are creatures and plants God has created for His pleasure (as opposed to the Frozen Bible...nothing against Frozen but it doesn't seem to match God's Holy Word...) Young (and older!) girls will love this publication of the Bible. If you like the International Children's Bible translation, you will like this Blessed Garden Bible. Personally, I think the ICB version unnecessary. As a child, I was perfectly able to understand even the KJV. I recommend the NKJV or the ESV for children. The ICB over-simplifies God's word, taking away from the meaning of the original text in many cases.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

Review
I picked this bible because I really like the ICB translation for times when I find a particular scripture confusing. This bible makes it very easy to understand. I love that it has all the questions scattered throughout. I find myself going through and reading them myself. I also enjoyed the Prayer Pointers throughout this bible. My favorite is on page 997 Pray First. This is something we need to be reminded of daily.
I also like that it came with a Journal that tucks nicely into the back of the Bible so they are always together. I highly recommend this bible not only for children but for anyone new in their walk with the Lord.

In our home, sparkles are awesome and the more something shines bright the better! When we are out and about if something sparkles, it grabs our attention and we say, "Sparkle!" This would be similar to the idea of saying "Squirrel!" when you are distracted mid-sentence in a conversation.

So when given the opportunity to review, ICB Golden Princess Sparkle Bible: International Children’s Bible (ICB) I did not need to think twice and after receiving it, I was so very glad that I did! Not only does the cover present a glittery presence on the outside cover, the inside pages brightly shines God's word just for young readers. Anyone who has read the bible in church for spiritual growth and understanding or at school for its highly competent literature knows that the language used in a standard King James Version (KJV) can be difficult to decode. The ICB version takes this barrier away with the use of a lower level vocabulary (3rd grade reading level) as well as a simpler font making it easier for independent reading. This makes it possible for them to focus on the stories rather than the difficult text.

Take Hebrews 11:1 for example,
Faith means being sure of the things we hope for. And faith means knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.

It’s easy to understand yet not a bit of its meaning is lost through the simple words! The ICB® doesn’t water down the truth of God’s Word by simplifying it for kids. The best available Hebrew and Greek texts were used to assure a faithful translation of the original languages. The ICB is a dynamic equivalent (thought-for-thought) translation of the Bible.

In addition, the bible includes a dictionary and concordance to assist readers with words or concepts they do not understand. Not only will they be reading God's word and growing as Christians, they will be learning and becoming better readers!

The publisher says, "Every little girl is a princess in God’s eyes, and this glittery Bible packed with great features is truly fit for royalty!"

I found the following description of ICB, provided by Faith Gateway, to be valuable information:

4 reasons the ICB® translation is a game-changer for kids and God’s Word

The name itself tells my children this Bible is for THEM, written specifically with their journey of faith in mind.
The ICB® has more than 300 Key Bible Verses highlighted in the text so that children (and their parents) can read and learn some of the most important and foundational truths of God’s Word.
Comprehension of the ICB® requires a third-grade reading level making it the perfect full-text Bible for elementary age kids to read.
Word for word, the ICB® is simple to understand and apply to our lives.

I would like to thank: BookLook Bloggers and Tommy Nelson for the complimentary copy of ICB Golden Princess Sparkle Bible in return for my honest review.

Combining the International Children's Bible translation with an organic garden trend results in a sweet treasure for all the little girls in your life!

My daughter said the Bible must belong to Snow White, as the winsome woodland creatures and cheerful flowers adorning the cover seem like just the choice for her favorite princess.

Not only does the cover include adorable drawings, but it's filled with glitter and foil details, as well!

I was curious to explore this ICB version and discovered that it is written on a third-grade reading level, so that young readers can more easily digest the precious words for themselves.
Sentences have been kept short and uncomplicated, using appropriate vocabulary, modern measurements and the most common geographical names for clarity. Additionally, there is lucidity (either within the text or a footnote) regarding ancient customs, connotations of words, rhetorical questions, figures of speech and idiomatic expressions -- which all contribute to increased ease in reading these Scriptures for children.

It's the Bible, but not quite as difficult so newer readers can see things for themselves!

Besides the features provided by the ICB translation, this Bible also includes 24 colorful pages of study help inserts, 365 Key highlighted verses, bold dictionary words in the text and a dictionary and concordance.

Study help pages include informational lists as well as extra information to consider.

The dictionary works more like a glossary: the words are in bold throughout the text, then defined here in the back of the book.

An extensive timeline, several maps, and a lovely presentation page with spots to include family details round out the extra features that make this special Bible one to treasure.

The timeline stretches across 4 pages and there are 4 maps included, as well.

This book is tailored to elementary-aged readers, but it's wonderful for anyone looking to transition away from a storybook Bible format or even just to begin introducing bits of the true text to children.

This review is meant for parents, teachers, and other people that work with children to read.

This is a Holy Bible that uses the ICB (International Children's Bible) Translation. It is not a Bible storybook; it contains full Bible text and includes some dictionary words in bold and teaching pages in between the Bible text that teach things like how to study the Bible, how to pray, how to forgive others, and how to know Jesus better. There are also pages that can be filled in with written information like the Bible reader's family history information, brothers and sisters birthdays, and favorite Bible verses. Bible verses are also listed for different Names of God and the Miracles of Jesus. There is a Concordance and Memory Verses for my Life section. There are also some color maps of Abraham's Journey, the Desert Wanderings, Jesus' Last Week in Jerusalem, and Palestine in Jesus' Life.

I think a lot of children will find this Bible translation easy to understand. I read the Bible books of 1 Peter, 2 Peter, and Jonah while reviewing it. I sometimes used it alongside another translation and I could tell some differences. The bolded words are a good prompt for children to look up words in the dictionary in the back to learn their meanings. I think some of the Bible text that is darkened will highlight some important information to children. Some children that read this Bible might find it interesting that there is a page near the end that lists kids in the Bible and how God used them.

I like it that it is not overflowing with information in between Scripture because it might help children to stay focused on the Scriptures better. The headings listed throughout the Bible will help children to understand what the different parts of Scripture are about.

In spite of many positive reviews, I found this children’s Bible to be lacking.

Using the description provided by Bible Gateway, the ICB is best suited for “a barely literate society because of its economy of words, acrostic literary form, and poetic parallelism.” Though the text is aimed at the third-grade reader, the book as a whole is not. Having said that, this version is also not presented in a manner that will be appealing to children. The chosen font is too small for most young readers. The illustrated pages use only gold and dark blue - with black text, possibly providing more appeal for an adult audience than for the children the title suggests the book is targetting.

The various helps included might be more suitable for the middle school or junior high reader, but this reviewer doubts that typical middle schooler or junior high students would want to be carrying a “Children’s Bible”. Also attached as a separate booklet is a 64 page (lined) “Prayer Journal” for the child to record their own prayers. No suggestions are available for the use of this booklet and the child using this Bible will need assistance from a parent or Sunday School teacher in order to make use of it.

My rating for this Bible is not that I do not think it has value, but because I question the value of this edition for a child. If an adult wants to say, “I gave my child a Bible as a gift,” this may be a suitable gift. But that would be more satisfying to the adult than to the child. There are more suitable children’s Bibles available.

If the word “Children” were removed from the title, this book would be better suited for an audience working with a group where English is considered a second language. An adult ESL student would be able to overlook the title and be able to accept the format as appropriate for their age and educational status.

This children's study Bible was a feast for eyes and heart. The cover is beautifully illustrated with forest creatures and an arrange of colorful flowers with sparkles. Butterflies, mushrooms, vines and special keyhole also grace the front cover. Upon opening the book there is an illustration of a path which is fitting as the Bible states "Your Word is a lamp unto my feet". There is a dedication page graced with the same lovely illustrations. The introduction page asks why we should study the Bible. The reasons are explained in clear, easy to understand language and with a story about friendship. The story will help a young child have a better understanding about the relationship between herself and God. Next comes several pages that show a timetime illustrated with people from the Bible stories. It starts with Adam and Eve and ends with the words: The church will continue until the Lord returns. Right before the table of contents is a full page with a forest scene depicted on it. The preface describes why this particular version of the Bible is noteworthy and can be trusted. There is a section on key verse highlights. The Old Testament is then given in full account. Followed by the New Testament in its entirety. Throughout the Bible text are illustrated pages with thought provoking questions or short devotionals. One example is: How do I know Jesus loves me? Each thought page or devotional contains scriptural references and a story that is child friendly. At the end of the Bible are sections that contain: a dictionary, glossary of famous Bible stories, Bible promises, Memory Verses for My Life, Names of God, Miracles of Jesus, Names of the Disciples, Kids in the Bible and maps. This Bible is aimed at young children but is a very well developed Study Bible and goregous too!

Are you a Christian parent trying to teach your child(ren) how to pray? The Prayer Bible for Children is designed to help you give your children a heart for prayer and learning the Bible together.

The Prayer Bible for Children uses the ICB translation. This translation is created especially for children. This particular Bible has large easy-to-read text with 160 pages of special prayer articles highlighting beloved prayers throughout the Bible. It also includes 64 color pages of poem prayers, Scripture prayers, and a children's question and answer section with the questions kids most ask about prayer. Along with all of the prayer helps, this children's Bible has a How to Use the Bible section, an article index for easy reference of the articles, a dictionary and a concordance. The Prayer Bible for Children also includes a matching prayer journal as a bonus to record prayers and answers to prayers with your child.

I thought The Prayer Bible for Children was both nice looking and packed with good information to help children learn about prayer in the Bible. It is a beautiful book and the matching paperback prayer journal is nice to have along with it. The Bible's print is large and quite dark although the pages are fairly thin like many Bibles. It has a matching blue ribbon marker to hold your place. I think this Bible is great for families because it teaches children so much about prayer. There are so many good questions answered with Bible verses and so many good prayers already written out to give children the general idea how to pray.

Along with this blue Prayer Bible for Children, there is also a pink version releasing at the same time, on January 2. Both colors are available for pre-order now.

Every little girl is a princess in God’s eyes, and this glittery Bible packed with great features is truly fit for royalty!

For about a year, my daughter has been enjoying reading another sweet ICB-translation Bible, but when this new princess version arrived, she found a new favorite.

I personally thought the adorable woodland creatures of the other book would be more enticing, but once she saw all the sunny sparkles adorning the cover of this one, she was smitten.

My daughter also loves the 24 pages of full-color illustrations for some of her most favorite Bible stories.

I just love that this ICB translation exists, because it makes it so easy for my daughter to read the Bible all by herself, allowing her to savor her own time alone with God's Word and not just share it with me or her father.

This is the full text of the Bible, but written at a third-grade reading level, which makes it a perfect first Bible for younger readers!

Besides the fun pictures and easy-to-read translation, this Bible also includes highlighted key verses, a presentation page for gift-giving, and a dictionary and concordance.

This Bible is tailored to elementary-aged readers, but it's wonderful for anyone looking to transition away from a storybook Bible format or even just to begin introducing bits of the true text to little girls.

I received a copy of this Bible in exchange for an honest review.
This Bible is advertised for little girls, but I don't see anything specifically for little girls. This could be for any child from 6-10 years old. The cover is a light teal color, with a whimsical, garden feel using gold and silver foil, glitter and cute little animals (love the little fox in the center). The right hand side of the front cover has a design that is reminiscent of a diary with the keyhole.
Reading through Ruth quickly, the reading level seems appropriate, but I will really test this out with my youngest daughter this coming week.
The paper is just as thin as any other Bible, the font a little larger perhaps to make it easier to read. Overall, this is a beautiful Bible for any child in this reading range, however, I take exception to the fact that it is marketed as girl specific.

Having been studying prayer myself, as an adult, I was thrilled to read through this Bible. We often teach our children how to converse with God yet praying God's Word is what really gives life to our prayers. When teaching this to children it can be very daunting and overwhelming. This Prayer Bible gives a way to teach it and cover topics of prayer.

Inserted through out the Bible are questions about prayer and answers. These questions cover a variety of topics and are great to begin conversations with children about prayer.

Through out the Bible certain promises are highlighted. This is also a perfect way to begin praying the promises of the Bible. I love this concept and am so glad it has been done for children.

I received a complimentary copy.

As I have said many times before, this Bible is one of the best and biggest story books of all time. The prayer Bible really gets down to level of the younger readers to help them discover without much need from and adult. I love the addition of an added prayer journal so that little minds can create a place to think and keep thoughts to share when needed. You can even sit and learn with your little ones and maybe create a space for them to bond with you in God's love. It is a faith based book.

I feel like this book had a really pretty cover that was super attracting to my eyes. It is though another easy to understand version of the Bible which is perfect if that is what you want your family to learn as well as enjoy. It is completely faith based and some may not find it as good as others. As a Bible I think it is perfect and a lot easier for anyone who has trouble reading the older versions, to read.

is the perfect children's bible because it is the perfect size for a child beginning to get into their bible education. I liked how the word choice was appropriate for the age group without detracting from the bible itself. The visual appeal is designed to appeal much more to girls and women than to boys and men. I find it rather sad that their are no decorated bibles for boys, but only for girls. Overall, I was very pleased with this bible.

I’ve never read this version, and I liked the easy translation for kids. For example, instead of describing the Temple in cubits, this version used common units of measurement, like feet and miles to describe things. That was one thing I really appreciated in this version. I read the Bible everyday so I just turn back to the first page and start again. Now I’m trying different versions so you will be seeing a review for the American Standard Version in approximately 2 years.

It took us two and a half years, but I read the ICB Bible all the way through with the kids.

Obviously not what I'd use for study. But for what it is, I thought it was a well done, kid-friendly paraphrase.

This review first appeared on my blog: http://www.knittingandsundries.com/20...

This full version of both the Old and New Testaments has been translated in a clear prose that children can easily understand. Some of the features:

* Children's dictionary/index, with more than 200 entries, explains difficult words and phrases
* Simplified footnotes explain Bible name, customs, and phrases
* Colorful maps show key cities and lands

Designed for Grades 3 and above, there are groups of insets containing beautiful illustrations of key Biblical characters and scenes, and the language IS much easier for younger readers.

Bebe Boy James recently started wanting to read the Bible on his own, and this is the Bible he takes down for his Bible reading. He doesn't take it to church or to his youth group, as they use a different version, but he DOES sometimes use this one to help him better understand what his memory verses mean. In this translation, John 3:16 reads: "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that whosoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life."

If you have a reader who is up to "chapter books" (as Bebe Boy James calls them) or middle readers, this would be a good Bible to have on hand for them to read for themselves.

I can't tell you my delight when I received this Bible. Love the 3D cover and the colorful pictures that accompany some of the stories inside.

The writing is simple and easy to understand for a child. At the end of the Old and New Testament there is an extensive dictionary. There is also a "Where do I find it?" section which list down the alphabetical listing of people and events and where to find them in the scriptures. Apart from that, there is also a section of God's promises, memory verses and some maps.

The only that I don't like about this Bible is that it is not hardcover. I feel that since it's intended for the Children, they should should make it hardcover so that it would be more durable.

I gave this 4 stars .

The ICB Princess Bible is an International Children’s Bible with a Princess theme. I think it will be most appreciated by girls between the ages of 4 and 10. I really like the front cover design, which features a crown, a sparkly surface that does not shed sparkles, and five silver jewels that are not just pictures – they actually jut out from the cover. The purple cover theme looks cute!

The font is similar to most standard Bibles and is easy to read. Key phrases are lightly highlighted, and key words are set in bold. There are inserted pages in the front, back, and middle, which give additional information about the Bible, such as the names of the disciples, a map showing Jesus’ last week in Jerusalem, and a list of miracles that Jesus performed, along with where they can be found in the Bible. Other nice features of this Bible are a built-in purple ribbon bookmark, as well as a front page where parents can write their child’s name, who presented the Bible to the child, and the date the Bible was presented. This is a great Bible for a little girl who loves “all things Princess.”

My THOUGHTS ON THIS BIBLE
What a beautiful Bible for young girls. The cover is absolutely beautiful, a pretty purple with a princess crown and five pearl rhinestones plus lots of bling! Which girls just love. It is the International Children's Bible translation, easier for girls to understand. This hardcover Bible is nice to use if you want to read the Bible without the study notes. Inside the front has a page for the name and date, family history, siblings. There are pages throughout the Bible asking the questions: Why should I read the Bible, How do I know Jesus loves me, and more. There are also colorful and interesting maps to help understand where scenes in the Bible takes place. Overall this is a precious Bible, one that I would love to carry if I was a young girl again!

This bible is toned down a bit for younger children which is very nice. The graphic language in toned down a lot from a regular bible. This bible also uses words that younger children can understand and read. This book has a pretty purple ribbon bookmark so children can keep track of where they are. The only problem is that the pages are tissue paper thin making it super easy for young children to rip the pages on accident. The cover is very pretty and will attract any little princess.

My son (two years old when we started) are reading through this together. I haven't paid attention to the notes about prayer inserted into the text, but the translation itself has been great for my little guy.

Edit when finished: Love this! I cannot recommend reading through the Bible aloud highly enough.
