Bear shifter, Grayson, is thrilled when he walks into Bar Knuckle, the only bar in his new Northern town. Not only is it packed with shifters of all species waiting for their turn to fight in the steel cage but he also hits it off with the curvy, blond waitress in the cowboy hat. Grayson loves to fight and he quickly jumps into the cage for a go after he secures a date with the voluptuous waitress.

BBW, Dakota, has been working in boring Laughlin City at the seedy shifter bar getting constantly harassed by Brad, the son of the town boss, for years. But everything is about to change when a sexy new bear shifter named Grayson walks in. He’s tough and hot and he is nothing but trouble.

Grayson defeats Brad in the shifter fighting cage and his father, a powerful rhino shifter and the company boss, takes it very personally. Now Grayson will have to fight for something besides just fun. He will have to fight for his life… and for Dakota’s.

This fun paranormal romance has absolutely No Cliffhanger. This bear shifter and his BBW get a HEA. Standalone.

OMG I never read about a rhino shifter, when I think of Walter I imagine a boss with a pot belly, cigar hanging out of his mouth and suspenders sitting behind a desk. Hmmmmm I think I just described Walter Cash! LOL He owns the Lumber yard and the whole little town in Canada.. Hos whole crew consists of shifters which include gorilla and ox!

Dakota never imagined that she would ever meet her mate here at the Bare Knuckle bar, but when she sees that bear walk in and then knock out Walters son Brad, it's all bets off..

I love the trip to Italy, that waiter, singer and gondolier were fantastic!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a sexy and sweet short paranormal read. It’s a little bit romantic, a little bit smutty, and a little bit punchy action.

Absolutely a standalone story, this begins in a small town in the middle of nowhere. It’s built around a logging community, which is run by a corrupt and controlling shifter. He hires only shifters, which makes the town essentially shifters only. Grayson was looking for a job and a change of pace, so he took a logger job. Upon his arrival in town, however, he makes everyone either angry or happy. The bar he enters is centered on cage fighting and when he knocks out a generally horrible person (who just so happens to be the logging boss’s son), all hell breaks loose.

Dakota, another shifter transplant, can’t just let Grayson die in the parking lot after paying for winning a fight. Upon touching him, however, she discovers that they’re fated mates. These two are an unlikely pair, and it makes it especially hard to deal with when the boss decides they can’t be together. How does that get resolved? Why, with cage fighting, of course! This was a fun, quick read in a world I would read again.

Dakota was a waitres at Bar Knuckles, a small town bar visited by shifters. She was a bear shifter and had no one in her life. Grayson came to the town to a new job and got involved in a big problem because of his eagerness to fight in the cage. They were attracted to each other and emotions run wild. Liked the way the author built the suspense. Grayson was sweet and at the same time a very strong determined man. Loved the special date, the sweet romance and about all the love feeling in the air. This was a very entertaining story that kept me on my edge with a very fierce fight to death. Liked how the characters were set up with an interesting plot. The story had a lot of different shifters in a hostile and rough environment but at the same time shows friendship and solidarity. This was a very good short story with a good dose of sex, suspense and action. Liked it very much.

I enjoyed this story, it has all sorts of shifters who work for a logging company. All logging is done without machines only brute strength . The owner and his spoiled son are the law of the land. Everyone must tow the line. That is until Grayson arrives on the scene to work. He enters the fight cage to fight the son. Trouble starts at that point. Grayson wipes the cage with the owners son. Dakota has tried to warn him to cave, but he ignored her. Will these two survive the trouble on the horizon? What form will the owners revenge take?
This is a good story and I give it a 5 star. I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! This book is so good. There are so many shifters some I have never read about. Also there is cage fighting in both forms. Throw in fated mates and hot sex and you have another winner.Dakota is a bear waitress at a bar. Grayson is the new bear in town. They hit it off and then trouble starts. I definitely recommend reading this one. I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Terrific fast-paced shifter story

Grayson is a Grizzly shifter, new in lumberjack shifter town. He fights the boss's son and beats him in cage fighting. But then he is attacked and left for dead.

As the only female shifter in town, hoping and praying he heals fast from his wounds. She bonds to him finding out that she is his mate. Then he bonds to her. But there is trouble ahead.

The characters are tough and gritty as shifters are known to be. Drama is fast paced.

This story is a quick read and enjoyable. Read the story to find out what happened to Grayson and his mate. Highly recommended.

Cage Fighting Bar

Grayson is new in town, having signed on with a logging company. His first night in town finds him in a cage fight with the logging company's boss' son. Grayson wins but is jumped in the parking lot and almost killed. Dakota, the bar waitress, takes him up to her apartment fearing he will die, only to discover he is her mate. This shifter tale has you cheering for Grayson and loving Dakota's bar skills with the patrons. Bare Knuckle Bear is an enjoyable afternoon read.

I'm torn

I enjoyed some aspects of the character development and story, but they were overshadowed by less-than-stellar editing and unnecessarily graphic sexual content that was crudely written, immature in nature, and read as filler instead of important parts of the story. The relationship was rushed, with no sense of development of any sort of emotional attachment. Not an author I'll be reading again.

All the (he said she said) drives me crazy! especially when it is over done like in this case. Some aspects of the story i liked, but i feel that some aspects need improving. It is hard to believe that a Bear could beat a Rhino, i know it is only fantasy but still. The love interest is there but the plot is just not there for me.

Out of no where

A man walks into a bar... ok this is not a bad joke this was a great book. Grayson shows up and sweeps Dakota off her feet, stirs stuff up in town, and then owns it like a boss. The action was great the love story was sweet and the HEA was perfect.

The romance was kinda secondary to this tough rough and Tumblr shifter world that I freaking adore. So fun and dangerous and ick lumberjack-y. Great fast read

Bare Knuckle Bear: BBW Paranormal Romance Bear Shifters Kim Fox

Reviewed by SFF Dragon

Gritty and with quite a bit of gore, but despite the cowards and bullies, Dakota and Grayson get their HEA.

'Bare Knuckle Bear' is the first book in the new Ultimate Shifting Championship series of paranormal romances by Kim Fox and I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. Despite not being a fan of any kind of organised fight, I absolutely loved it.

Escaping to a place that has no problem with curvy women, were-bear Dakota came to Laughlin City, Northern Alberta two years ago and has been working with bartender and were-badger Luke as a server in owner Leo's Bar Knuckle ever since. She doesn't date and has no interest in any of the shifters working for the Cash Logging Company. She especially doesn't like the owner, were-rhino Walter Cash or his son, Brad, who turns her stomach, but the town relies on the logging company for it's survival, so she has to at least be polite. Then a new face appears at the bar and both she and her bear sit up and take notice.

New guy in town, were-bear Grayson got fed up of living in a city and decided that the advert for jobs cutting down trees was just what he needed to get out of Michigan and give his bear some space to roam in the woods. On his first night in town he goes to Bar Knuckle and is taken with the server, Dakota. His bear has been pining for a mate for a while and the she bear fits the bill nicely. Like a kid at Christmas, he's also excited when he discovers that the bar's entertainment is cage fighting and foolishly volunteers for the next fight. Brad also volunteers, he never loses and he's not happy about the new guy talking to Dakota and figures he'll have no problem winning. Unfortunately for both of them, Brad and Grayson are the only people in town who don't know that Brad always wins because the others are scared of his father and always lose on purpose. Ignoring Dakota's warning to lose, Grayson humiliates Brad and is them ambushed in the parking lot where he gored nearly to death from behind by Walter's rhino. Dakota won't leave him to die like that and takes him to her apartment above the bar where her bear bonds to him, saving her mate's life. Then the trouble really begins....

Blood and gore abound and this stand alone story is a bit more gritty than the usual paranormal romance, but I loved some of the characters, especially Luke and Leo, but I also hated a few too. I've never been good with bullies. At least Dakota and Grayson get their happily ever after. I can't wait to read the next one.

*I was given this book in exchange for an honest review*

Another laugh out loud shifter story from the author who is rapidly becoming one of my favorites in this genre!

It was interesting to read a story that had so many other kinds of shifters in it, at least two of which had never been mentioned before!

Anyway, on with the review! Bare Knuckle Bear is the staring title in Kim Fox's awesome new series, which stars Grayson a male bear shifter who's getting a new start in the small Northern Canada town of Laughlin City and

Dakota a sassy “knows how to look after herself” female bear shifter.

Dakota's worked in Bar Knuckle for a while now and knows how to handle herself as well as any smart mouth shifter who wants to start trouble, enter Grayson who seems to love and live for it!

He's tough, sexy, and decent! She knows this is a rare find in the shady, pit hole of the world town; what Dakota doesn't know is that Grayson is the perfect guy for her and I mean perfect, he's her destined mate!

There's only one problem, Brad the son of Laughlin City's most prominent citizen has his sights set on Dakota as well and since he and his daddy practically own the town what the shifter wants he gets right?

Not if Grayson and Dakota have anything to say on the matter, yes it seems Grayson the bear loves to fight but he's not just fighting for fun or himself anymore!

I really loved this story and I think it's an excellent start to what's sure to be an awesome and action packed series, I just think; and I've noticed this on two other reviews that some ending parts of the story seem to have gone by a bit too quickly.

Would have liked to see a little more length to the ending and the epilogue, I also loved, loved, loved the scene where Grayson takes Dakota on a “trip” to Italy! I couldn't have asked for a better first date for those two, any guy could have taken her to dinner or even offered to cook at home.

It doesn't seem like many guys would have had the creativity or romanticism to put together the kind of dinner "out" that Grayson did!

Can't wait for the next book, once again keep em coming Kim!

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Dakota is a sassy waitress at the Bar Knuckle, she is also a bear shifter. The club wasn't much but there weren't many other places to go in the small town. For entertainment the club has a cage where the men brawl for sport, blood sport. As a shifter you would think this wouldn't effect Dakota so much, yet she always sweet talks to the bartender Luke into mopping up the blood puddles for her. With that comes some undesirables: Mr Walter Cash and his son Brad. Mr. Cash owns the logging company in town and Brad is the unbeatable man inside the cage-no one would best him cause of his father. No one until Grayson walks in. He and Dakota start talking then the lights go down for the first fight of the night and Grayson volunteers. Brad then steps up after he spots Grayson talking to Dakota. Dakota tries to warn Grayson that he needs to let Brad win, but he ignores her warning and beats Brad. Things go very badly and Grayson winds up nearly bleeding out in Daktota's bedroom above the bar. When Grayson shows up for work the next morning to face his would be murderers he is placed under Brad's supervision. And when they can't break him at work, Mr. Cash and Brad try to come between he and Dakota. This results in Grayson challenging Walter to a fight inside the cage. What I don't understand was the terms Grayson laid out. In either scenario why would you want to stay there? in most cases, you want to leave the crazy situation not stay. I thought it was messed up that Grayson ended up with scars from his fights with Walter, shifter healing didn't take care of that. I thought Grayson's creativity about their Italy date was super sweet.

ARC: Given copy of this book in exchange for honest review.

Kim Fox is an awesome writer. She puts everything she has into the her books. "Bare Knuckle Bear" is no different. I found the use of different types of shifters really ingenious. This breaks away from the humdrum of bear shifters all the time. The use of another bear shifter as his mate is a change from them taking humans as mates. The book was serious and well thought out. The Characters fit in well with the story line. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars to her book was I just could not feel her mojo in it. Can't explain it.

Grayson is new in town and he is wanting to fight in the steel cage in the Bar Knuckle and he wants a date with the blond waitress Dakota, who is a bear shifter the same as him. She is flirting with him when he is challenged by Brad the owners boss, whom nobody would let him lose The fight goes good for Grayson, but what follows the fight is what Grayson wasn't expecting.

Dakota is a bear shifter and a waitress at the Bar Knuckle and hs been for about 2 years. She loves working there because shifters like their women with curves and full bodies. She has fought off the advances of Brad, the bar owners son for several years now. But all that is about to change. Grayson is the only person brave enough to beat Brad.

Can't give away any of the secrets of the book. "Bare Knuckle Bear" is an action packed book and well worth the read. I recommend this book to everybody.

Another great read from this author and thoroughly enjoyed, despite being on edge a few times. :)

It’s about a female Bear Shifter - Dakota, she’s working as a bartender in a small town, seemingly ruled by the local Logging Company owner - a Rhino Shifter.

Along comes Grayson, a fellow Bear who catches her eye as much as she is caught by him. He lands himself in a cage fight and rather than lose as advised, he beats the Bosses son.

Needless to say he nearly dies for his fight afterwards when cornered outside. Dakota takes him home, to her upstairs flat where she helps him as he recovers. There they realize they are mates. :)

Grayson also discovers his new Boss is the same man as the night before and he has to work under the son he thrashed in the fight. Not good! The Rhino is not happy Dakota and Grayson are now connected and has Dakota lose her job. Of course Grayson defends her but he is once again forced to fight, only this time it’s the Rhino, that nearly killed him.

As we all know the hero survives... Just! :) It was hairy, I’ll give you that and had me on edge during both pieces of action. Rhino’s are better off as an ally than a foe. :) Needless to say, it’s sorted and all’s well in the end. But what a ride! :)

Kim has created another fun and exciting Shifter story, that kept me reading till finished, despite a few breaks at my course. :) But I had to keep reading and thoroughly enjoyed. So if you’ve read other books by Kim Fox, you will love this new one, so grab it and read it. :) Can’t wait for the next one.

being new in town, grayson has no clue that the man he’s going to fight is his new boss’ son and even though the rhino shifter is a crap fighter, he always wins. retaliation is always around the corner if he loses.
dakota been a waitress here for two years now and never even had the urge to go on a single date. when grayson sets foot into the bar on fight night, her bear starts waking up and showing interest in the kindred bear. when he steps into the fight cage she tries to warn him but his defiant look doesn’t promise a good outcome if he wins.
how right she was. he hasn’t barely left the bar after winning that he’s taken down and left for dead. when dakota finds him, she hauls him into her apartment, her mind set on not letting him die just about anywhere. at that moment her bear bonds with him and she’s upset that at that moment she would find a mate only to lose him.
but luck is on her side and he manages to pull through.
if this were it, you’d be mistaken. surviving the attack only makes things very awkward for him at his new job but having found dakota and bonding with her makes it all worth.
will they get their HEA? i’m not so sure about it. yet!
what a thrilling read this was. almost thinking it was over before it even started! i wanted to jump into that cage myself and kick some butt.
i can see more woman landing in this town and find some loving *is crossing fingers*

I received this for an honest review. This is a town that is run by a Rhino shifter by the name of Walter Cash. He owned the logging company and most of the town. No one will cross him and his son is spoiled and no one will cross the son due to the father.

Dakota who was a beautiful curvy bear shifter worked in the Bar Knuckle. It was pretty much the only hang out in town and they had cage match. The thing about Dakota she was the only female that worked in his bar and it was a a bar that shifter from the logging company hung out. Brad Cash who was Walter’s son thought he could lay claim to Dakota.

I loved Dakota. She was feisty and did not take anything off of any of the men. She would put them in their place quickly and they pretty much coward to her. She was one that had not dated since she had arrived in that town. None of the shifters caught her attentions. Well that is until Grayson a new bear shifter came to the bar.

Grayson was this sexy well built bear shifter. He loved the idea that they had cage matches. He could not wait to get his chance. I loved the way Grayson flirted with Dakota. It was like his bear recognized her as their mate right off.

Waring there will be parts in the book that will make you mad and you will want to step in and fight for the characters. You might even shed a few tears. But one thing I am certain you will be swoon on how Grayson courts Dakota.

I have read a few books by Kim Fox and I must say that they all have been thoroughly great stories. Kim Fox has given us a story that just sucks you in and holds you there from start to finish ,and leaves us wanting more from this author. This story is hot steamy and has some true romance. This is Roxy's and Wyatt's sweet story. Roxy is one of the 23 women that is coming to Cash logging for work. But beautiful Roxy is a brown bear shifter and her bear is angry at her for not letting it out to roam. She's figures if she is working the bear will be okay and will calm down and fine peace. But it's not going to be that easy for her, but she doesn't realize that the town has every few women compared to the man that haven't found their mates. This could make for some terrible problems .Poor Roxy doesn't want an relationship ,all she needs some place for her bear .Wyatt is determined to a mate out of the women that's coming to town. It make me laugh when he did his best to fine a mate, but he also shows his corny side also. But has he sets his eyes on Roxy his world starts to spin he loved how she was feisty and her spunk just made her more beautiful ,and that's what make him fall in love with her. But can he make her love him? I could go on and tell you more about this story , but that would spoil it for you .I highly recommend that you read this touching story ,because you won't be disappointed.

I Loved it !

Dakota, has been working at the Bar Knuckle for 2 years, being the only female employed at the bar she suddenly finds she's admired by half the town. Luckily, being a Bear shifter she's also a strong feisty woman and can hold her own against the rowdy customers.

Brad Cash has his eye on Dakota, she continues to keep him sweet in order to keep the peace and her job. Brad is used to getting what he wants, as the whole town fear his Daddy,Walter Cash.
Walter pretty much runs the town. During the day he employs the majority of the men at his Logging Company, then at night he takes their hard earned cash back at the Cage Fights held in Bar Knuckle.

When Grayson breezes into the bar to kick back and chill before he starts his new job. Well, that’s when things get a lot more interesting in Town.

I was on the edge of my seat reading this one, the fight scenes are awesome and terrifying at the same time and I've discovered a whole world full of shifters I want to explore more. From the muscled hulk-like Gorillas and Rhinos to a Honey Badger,I admit I had to search to see what one looked like. But,now I really hope he gets his own book I loved Luke's character.

Bare Knuckle Bear is Book 1 of the Ultimate Shifting Championship series with No Cliff hanger it can easily be read as a standalone.

A hot guy, fights for his girl, nice and simple right?!? NO WAY!! Not when one guy is a cheating rhino shifter (Yup, he turns from man to rhino) and the other is a bear shifter. The problem for Grayson (bear shifter) from the time he enters town, he starts pissing off the wrong people, except Dakota who might just be his mate. First rule in the Bare Knuckles' Fighting Cage- Let the Boss' son, Brad, win. No one told Grayson and he beat him. Now he has to work with this embarassed punk and Brad is making Grayson pay, not only for the fight, but over Dakota as well. However, he won't let him win. All is well and good until he is jumped in the parking lot and horned by a rhino....
If Dakota can get Grayson to survive the night and anything else the Cash men can throw at them, they just might have a chance at this fated math thing.
This book was exciting, the chemistry was off the charts between Dakota and Grayson, and the twists and turns made the story interesting. I love Ms. Fox's stories, they are fun and exciting, If you are looking for a fun and quick read, pick up Kim Fox's stories. I find them enjoyable, I hope you do to as well!!

Title: Bare Knuckle Bear Ultimate Shifter Championship Series Book One

Author: Kim Fox

Reviewer: Stephanie Jordan
●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

This is a new series by Kim Fox, it really looks promising. Though I don't like
cage fighting but I went ahead and read it. As I said Cage violence is not me, but everything else was outstanding.
Dakota is a waitress in a bar called
Bare Knuckle  in a small Canadian Lumber Town of Bear Shifters. Dakota is a Bear also.
The Boss or should I say BULLY of the town is Walter Cash, a rhino shifter basically owns most of the town and logging company everyone bows down to him.
So Brad, Walter's son always wins when he fight, in fact he's undefeated. Until a Grizzly Bear named Greyson comes into town he want two things. Win the Cage fight and Dakota. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

Bare Knuckle Bear by Kim Fox

Dakota works in the bar in a small logging town, which is run by shifters. Been the only female to work in the bar, she's hit on often. But no one has caught her attention in over two years. Until one night a stranger captures her interest. But his not in town long when he gets himself into some trouble, with the locals. His attacked and his injuries are life threatening. Dakota doesn't know if she will get the chance to get to know her mate or be mateless for the rest of her life.

When Grayson finds himself a job in Laughlin City, he doesn't expect to find both trouble and his mate. As events unfold he finds himself in a situation where he has to choose, either losing Dakota or fighting the man who tried to kill him and threaten those his become close to.

This was an interesting take on shifters. I liked the storyline, it was interesting and engaging. The characters were likable, but for me their relationship and parts of the story felt rushed. But it was still an enjoyable story.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Grayson goes to Bar Knuckle because it's the only bar in his new town, but little does he know that his life is going to change in some very big ways. First he meets Dakota, a beautiful, curvy waitress, who has been stuck working at the bar, while trying to dodge Brad, the son of the town boss, who is always harassing her. After he manages to get a date with her, he jumps into fighting in the cage. He's always loved to fight, after all, and he's damn good at it.

So good, in fact, that he beats Brad. This, probably needless to say, does not go over well with Brad's father. A powerful rhino shifter who takes the loss far too personally. Grayson is attacked in the parking lot shortly after the fight, and Dakota finds him and takes him to her apartment to help him recover. But that's only the beginning of the trouble in store for them.

I really loved both Grayson and Dakota from the beginning, and enjoyed seeing their relationship develop, as they dealt with the danger surrounding them. No spoilers, but I will say that there's no cliffhangers, and a HEA.

Beary Delicious! This book revolves around a small town bar with cage fighting. You have Dakota, a waitress; Walter, the wealthy owner of the logging company whom employs most of the town population; his bully of a son Brad and Grayson, the new hire who's stepping into a new town without knowing the dynamics and where one wrong move could cause a lot of trouble.
I liked this book for the interactions between most of the characters. I was pulled into this book from the beginning. Dakota meeting Grayson was so very cute, but I would have liked to see a little more depth between our main characters Dakota and Grayson. I didn't feel very emotionally invested in their relationship and it almost felt like it became rushed and flat towards the end. Don't get me wrong, this was a very good story and I'm really hoping for additional stories for our supporting characters, but I want to see and feel Kim's usual flare for emotional depth between her h/h in her next story.
