Rate this book
One night, while Little Rabbit is sleeping, a very scary creature appears in his dream. Little Rabbit is so worried about the "night mare" that he can't eat or sleep--and he certainly can't work on his school report that's due at the end of the week. He makes signs. He builds traps. But nothing keeps that night mare away . . . until Little Rabbit dreams up a brave and brilliant solution.      Kate and Sarah Klise have created a heart-meltingly sweet story that will empower kids everywhere to face their fears. I just love the Klises' work from their stories to their illustration to the absolutely delightful ways that the story wraps up.  With a supportive mother and a creative little rabbit, this book suggests that nightmares, though scary, can be a source of knowledge and creativity while also being a source of frustration and exhaustion.  Just like everything else, there's two sides to every coin.  But as the week progresses and Little Rabbit's deadline is approaching, he's put in a hot spot and must rely upon his support system to stay afloat.  This is a great story for explaining why nightmares might happen and how we can cope with them, especially when they seem so incredibly real.  Great for grades K-2.

Those fanciful sisters are at it again. Author Kate Klise and her sister, artist M. Sarah Klise, bring back Little Rabbit. And once again, they've chosen a really important topic.

So many children can relate to the topic of scary dreams. This book is brilliant!

Childhood nightmares can bleed over into the next day's emotions. I certainly remember how terrifying mine were.

Yet somehow the Klise team manages to convey just enough of the scariness, making it seem managable as Little Rabbit eventually solves this fearful problem.

FIVE STARS for all the compassion and wisdom!

Little Rabbit is worried about the report assignment from school. A scary night mare visits him and adds to his anxiety. Could facing the mare solve his problem? What will the other "kids" his report about the night mare? A relatable story about bad dreams that shows them how to navigate through those hard nights. Does anyone else notice that the night mare looks very much like Little Rabbit's pillow and blankie?

Little Rabbit has to do a book report, and share it out loud on Friday in front of his classmates. Since this is his first report he wants to do his best, but from all the worry he begins to have nightmares. Little Rabbit does everything he can think of to make the nightmare go away, and leave him be. Finally Little Rabbit comes up with a solution for his nightmare, and his book report.

This is a nice book for a kid who might be challenged by nightmares. That said, the whole point requires the understanding that Night Mare is a horse at night, while nightmare is a bad dream.

I heard about this book on the My Little Life Blog. Jerusalem always picks great books. This one is witty, funny, and packed with adorable illustrations. I'm eager to read it to my students next year. I think they'll love it. It would be a great book for our character word courage. I've gotta remember that!

Sloane just told me that she read this one, too. She said, "You left it in the bathroom, so I read it. It was really awesome. The art was so cute." There you have it, folks, it's seven year old approved.

Why is this book not titled "Little Rabbit and the Night Hare"? I have pondered this now for the last 24 hours, and have not come up with a reasonable answer for the avoidance of such a wonderful pun.

The momma rabbit is my favorite. She looks sufficiently wise. The kid rabbit looks sufficiently floppy. The pretend horse looks both pretend AND eerily like a horse. Lots of good details in the illustrations.

Worried about a report he has to give in class, Little Rabbit battles sleepless nights and a reoccurring night mare.

Acrylic illustrations do an excellent job of imagining what a night mare looks like. The pictures in which the night mare appears are a great representation both of what one might look like as well as what it feels like to endure one.

I LOVED the spread in which Little Rabbit gives his presentation on the night mare and drawn on the board is a mare, soooooooo great!

This is a good book for children having trouble at bedtime. I would say this would work best for children 4 and up, but it might be of some help to younger children too. It's a longer story, so I wouldn't use this for storytime, definitely best one-on-one.

Little Rabbit must write a book report for school but is so distracted by "night mares" (actually horses in his bad dreams) he cannot sleep or focus on his report. I like some of the Little Rabbit books, but didn't really care for this one.

From putting up signs to setting traps, Little Rabbit could not keep away the Night Mare. Follow him in his personal struggle to come face to face with his fears. This book is a great way to teach others that they can overcome any fear or any obstacle in their way if they just keep trying.

I love reading Little Rabbit stories and I liked this story. I liked that the night mare is a a "night mare" and takes the shape of the horse. I also like that the mother doesn't try to solve Little Rabbit's problem for him. It's a wonderful book about bravery.

04/09: Odd, quirky, but cute. One night a strange creature, a night "mare" (get it) sneaks into Little Rabbit's dreams and frightens him all night long. Little Rabbit must find a way to confront and deal with his fears. He does. Don't miss the information on the inside back jacket. ;-)

I'd give this one a 5, I love it. The art was wonderful, super colorful. This was about a bunny who had a bad nightmare. It is very, very funny.

Rabbit dreams of a strange creature when faced with the stress of a report deadline. Illustrations are oddly comforting and terrifying depending on the scene.
