Naughty Flings
Twelve new tales from the group of authors known collectively as the Naughty Literati. Not a bad story in the bunch, even if some hit my hot spots better than others. Quality writing, great characterization, inventive storylines and scenario. Overall rating as a collection is 3.8 out of 5.

Stay the Night by Alexa Silver. Melody and Tod knew each other only as salesperson and customer, but it didn’t take too long before they decided to try a date. When an outsider tries to sabotage their budding relationship, will Mel and Tod manage to struggle through? Absolutely ADORED this one! The buildup of the attraction and relationship was well done, as was the sex. The bitch who spewed the garbage caused a great "boy loses girl" moment. Her lies wouldn't have worked except for Melody's insecurities. Not over the top. Just in keeping with her history. I loved Tod's own insecurity and shyness mixed with his sexiness and good looks. Good use of Melody's family in this as well. Liked her mom a bunch. 5 out of 5.

Blood Mates: How to Blackmail a Vampire by Belle Scarlett. Vampires are no longer allowed to hide. If caught, the consequences are dire. Human Serena Bliss has discovered that Caden Chase and many of his employees are unregistered vampires. Her silence comes at a cost. Caden has a million bad vampire puns. How could I not fall for him? Serena is determined to help her cousin no matter who she might have to deal with. I did find the jump between Chapters 3 and 4 to be very abrupt. We went from a quiet dinner where Serena is learning more about vampire culture to a fight outside the mansion with Garoul. And we have Serena’s eye scan working when it is theoretically her first time at the house. Did a scene and/or chapter not make it through to publishing? It was jarring enough to bring the rating down just a tad. UPDATE: There actually was a missing chapter which Amazon buyers will have updated for them. This changed the rating to 5 out of 5.

The Loch Ness Monster, Romeo, and Julio by Berengaria Brown. Fraser Campbell just wanted to deepen his relationship with Cameron MacDonald from friendly coworkers to lovers by taking a trip to the city of love, Paris. Cam would rather go to Loch Ness to see if he can find Nessie. He didn’t know how to tell Fraser that Campbells and MacDonalds can never be real partners. A sweet m/m tale of love and the influence family history can have on relationships. 3.5 out of 5.

The Shadowlord’s Arrival by Charlotte Boyett-Compo. Jordan Brell just wanted peace. After the slaughter of her whole family by Reapers, the last thing she wanted was to become the concubine of a Deathlord who is part Reaper himself. Rhyman Cade quickly realizes he has his work cut out for him to convince Jordan to trust him. This story definitely falls more into the hot zone as well as a wonderful love story. Strong characters, interesting premise, and a hero who really lucked out with his love interest. Yowza! 4 out of 5.

Teach Me to Dance by Francesca Hawley. Lady Alexandra Forbes find the subject of dancing works on more than just one level. Valentine Fauklner, the Duke of Kendrick, is more than willing to teach Lexa all the best moves. I love Regencies, so when I realized that this historical was set in that time period, I was thrilled. Hawley has given the reader a sensual, erotic, adorable tale with a heroine who is well endowed and who has a poor self image thanks to her family’s constant comments. Add a hero with a heart and the patience of Job? Yep, I’m on it. 4.5 out of 5.

Phantom Affair by Katherine Kingston. An unusual tale of love between a living woman and a handsome ghost. When Robert mentions that there might be a way to bring him back to life, Kelly Scranton is more than willing to do whatever it takes. But she may learn more about Robert than she was prepared to know. A very unusual idea in regards to how to bring Robert back to life. I found Kelly’s initial reaction to be acceptable, but I was surprised that, having “lived” his life with him that she wouldn’t be more understanding of how the times were then. Still a good story. 3.5 out of 5.

Sticky & Sweet by Lainey-Jo Charles. Nick Collins had always had a crush on Amanda Lowell when they were in high school together, but since she was older than him, there was no real contact other than at her father’s ice cream truck during the summer. Now Amanda is back in town, running an ice cream truck again and the sparks are flying! What can I say, Charles has given me one of my soft spots, a blue class hero. Nick is a auto mechanic. This is hot, erotic, and we have ice cream sex! 3.5 out of 5.

Buying Adam by Marianne Stephens. Adam Samson’s mother has entered him into a charity auction without telling him. She claims it is to help offset the bad press Adam’s brother has engendered due to his affair with the mayor’s daughter while married. Her assistant Jessica McCall is convinced to buy Adam to save him from the clutches of his vindictive ex-fiancee. The attraction that has been smoldering for ages flares into hot flames when they are together in a leisure setting. An auction date can be a great trope and Stephens has done a great job with it. I do with there had been glimpses into their interactions other than sex. Plus I would’ve loved to have seen the confrontation with Angela. 3.5 out of 5.

My Kind of Lover by Nicole Austin. Haidee Portman is visiting sister Lorelei and her two mates when she meets Jase Wesgate, a shifter with a whiff of feline and something else. Having had a bad experience with another shifter male who betrayed her, the last thing Haidee wants is to get involved with anyone looking for a mate. A hybrid shifter who is also an auto mechanic as a hero; a badass shifter who used to ride in motocross and still goes for it on two wheels as a heroine? Oh, yeah. A perfect match and very, very, very hot! 4 out of 5.

Hot as Hades by Regina Kammer. Roman mythology reworked brings humor and realism to the story of Persephone and Hades. That was always a favorite tale as Hades seemed like a great guy given a tough job. Plus he had a dog with three heads! 3.5 out of 5.

Spring Training by Suz deMello. Baseball pitcher Chase McCall is trying to make it into the big league, but it may be down to the new female trainer, Terri. Terri is determined to become a professional coach, not needing the additional stress of a relationship with one of the team. Yet there is something special and different between them that makes it worthwhile. A very intense d/s relationship with Terri as the Dom and Chase as the submissive, a very willing submissive. Very extreme sexual encounters. I’m not overly a huge fan of d/s relationship stories, although I have read quite a few. It depends on the ability of the writer to display not only the sexual connections, but the emotional ones. I need to know that the dom is careful and loving toward the submissive. That makes it an easier, if arousing, read. deMello knows how to do this quite well, even in a short story. 3.5 out of 5.

Blue Plate Special by Terry Rissen. Will, like many paras, is in hiding. He is focused on keeping his mother safe and school and his band. He didn’t expect to meet his destiny in a low rent diner. A lovely tale, but seems like it is incomplete. More like a chapter from a larger story, one worth reading. Will has a dark side to him that may disturb certain readers. 3.5 out of 5.

Stay the Night by Alexa Silver - Melody and her family own and run a bookstore and a bagelry. She is the one that opens the bookstore in the mornings. Tod is a regular customer at 5:30 in the am on the weekdays. What does he do for a living? What sorts of things do they chat about in the mornings? Melody has been given a first book by a new author as an ARC from one of the local publishers/promotion companies. Who is it and what is the book about? What does Tod say about the book when he asks her what it is about and if she's enjoying it? Why his interest in the book? Well, he tells us he likes to read. Who is his favorite author? When he finally gets up the courage one day to ask her out, what does she tell him he is going to have to do in order for them to go out together? When the introduction to someone is done, they head for his house about an hour away by train to both work on writing. What happens when they get there? When they decide to go out to dinner, what happens? How does Tod make it up to her, or can he? You're going to have to read and find out.

Blood Mates: How to Blackmail a Vampire - Caden Chase has been flirting with Serena Bliss for three months. She says something that he is not expecting to hear from her mouth. What does Caden do when Serena starts pointing out all the things she has noticed within his company? What kind of company does Caden Chase own and run? What is it that Serena wants exactly? Why does she come to him after three months of flirting with him to talk to him about what she does? What exactly is Serena looking for and why is she threatening Caden? What happens at the threat? What does Caden do when she threatens to call the authorities? Who is Mr. Garoul? What does he want with Serena's cousin Zoe? This was a fun and short read. I wouldn't mind reading more stories like this.

The Loch Ness Monster, Romeo, and Julio by Berengaria Brown - Who are Fraser and Cameron? What kind of a relationship do they have if you can call it that? One of them wants more, but the other one will not let it happen, why? Where are they from and where are they going? What convention are they going to? When one wants to go to Scotland during a couple of free days and the other wants to go to Paris, we clearly know where they go from the title of the story. What happens at the Loch? When they go to a pub on the second night of their time in Scotland, they go to the same one they ate at the night before. What happens while they're there? What are they gold about Glencoe? This story has some bits of real life history in it. Fun read. The

Shadowlord's Arrival by Charlotte Boyett-Compo - Jordan is a woman at a place that reminds me of a convent of sorts. Who is Rhyman Cade and why are she and the Custodian speaking of him? What is he other than a Shadowlord? What does it mean? Why is he coming there? What does Jordan think or know about his impending arrival? When she takes off for the Sentinel's compound, what does she have in mind? What are the sentinels to the daughters? Who is Senti? What does Jordan ask of Senti? When she finds she is still to be at the claiming of the Life Mate to Rhyman Cade, after her meeting with Senti, what happens? What does she attempt to do and how does Rhyman stop her? You're going to have to read this book to see what happens!

Teach Me to Dance by Francesca Hawley - Who is Lexa? What is she doing at a masquerade ball? Who is James and what does he say to Lexa? When she has an opportunity to reacquaint herself with an old friend that she last saw at 14 years of age, what happens? Who is Valentine Faulkner? This story was nothing like I expected. Things at times were as they seemed, but overall things were nothing like what they seemed to be. It was a lovely story to read, once I realized what was truly going on. Watching them dance, waltzing together....I will never look at dancing the same again. Enjoy!

Phantom Affair by Katherine Kingston - The first line of the story had me laughing! Oh my, this was an interesting one to read. Who are Robert and Kelly? Where does Kelly live? How long ago did Robert die? When? With Robert being unable to become solid, how does he serve Kelly's needs? Well, you're just going to have to read this sweet tale to find out. I cannot say much because it is so short of a tale. Just know it is some crazy fun reading. Some very interesting things happen because of a particular time and ceremony. Read it and see!

Sticky & Sweet by Lainey-Jo Charles - Nick works in a mechanic shop for Dani Halston. When Dani goes on a rampage one day because she cannot find the last of something she does not remember using herself, Nick asks for a break to run an errand. When he picks up what he needs to get for Dani to stop jonesing, he is thinking about Amanda, a little girl he knew growing up. Her father owned the local ice cream truck and she used to help him out on it. When did they lose touch? What was his favorite item to buy from the truck? I bonded with this short story pretty quickly because it is the same item I myself prefer when I buy an ice cream. I understand it's appeal for him. As he's walking back, he hears an ice cream truck and goes back the way he came, trying to track it down. What does he find? What happens? When he gets back to the garage with two items for his boss instead of one, what does she agree to? You're going to need to read this sweet story to find out what happens.

Buying Adam by Marianne Stephens - Adam's family owns and runs the company he works for. He has just come back from Europe to find something on his desk that enrages him a bit. When he storms into his mother's office, what happens? After her assistant helps Adam with some things, she's heading to lunch when his mother calls her into the office. What does his mother ask Jessica to do? Angela, Adam's ex-fiancee tries to get control of him for the weekend, what happens that prevents her from doing so? What do Jessica and Adam do? What happens when Adam takes his mother's checkbook from her desk to balance it for her over the weekend? What happens when he listens to 9 missed voice mails from his mother? What does he find in her checkbook? What does Jessica say when he confronts her? Read and find out!

My Kind of Lover by Nicole Austin - Haidee heads to Houston to help out at Davenport Restorations while Lorelei heads off with her two mates for her honeymoon. As Haidee is walking through the showroom, she spots a bike that she's itching to get her hands on. What happens when she asks her sister if she can ride that bike? When she meets the owner of the bike, what happens? Who is Jase to Davenport Restoration? One day, Haidee decides to hit the oval track and the dirt bike track out back of the business. What does Jase see her doing and what does he say to her? When she talks to Lorelei next, what does Lorelei do? Why can't Haidee turn away from what Lorelei says? One night, she decides to go out for a run. What happens? All these questions and more that you did not know you had will be answered as you read this book. What kind of shifter is Jase, for example? Life certainly does get interesting in this series of Hybrid Mates. It's fun to read about!

Hot as Hades by Regina Kammer - We start the book with Persephone being led out of hell by Hermes. Why was she down there? How did she get there? What happens when her mother sees her for the first time in months, claiming that sh's been found? What does Persephone say about Zeus? Was she kidnapped or did she go willingly into Hell? What is happening in hell with Hades and Kerberos while Persephone is back in the real world visiting her mother? How long will she be gone? What is Persephone to Hades? Who are Tykhe, Ianthe, and Galaxaura? What happened when Persephone went missing? What did her mother, Demeter do? When Hades comes up from the underworld to spend time with Persephone, who finds them? What happens after that? This was a fun story to read!

Spring Training by Suz deMello - I loved that we found ourselves in Phoenix, Arizona for this book. It truly is an area for Spring Training for baseball. There are fields set up all across the valley where different teams come in to get ready for the season at. Who is Chase McCall and what team does he play for? Who is Terri and why is every player on the team sneaking glances at her as she stretches? When Terri runs into Chase at the hot tub in the hotel, what comment does she make that causes him to feel better about his first yoga workout? They meet up later for dinner, what happens? I could not help but to chuckle at this story as Spring Training takes on a whole new meaning for a man that always is in control of everything. What does Terri figure out relatively quickly about Chase? What happens with the team?

Blue Plate Special by Terry Rissen - We take a trip back in time for this story. Back to Vietnam, WW II, and the first color picture from the Apollo of Earth. We follow Billy, a young man going to school and trying to make sure his mother gets to and from her job safely. What is a Luminis? What does the pattern in Will's wings tell Christina? Where does he meet Christina? How does she know him? Who exactly is Will? What is it that Christina knows about the coloring of his wings? When he eats at the diner where she works, she says to him, "Nice wings." and we get a little taste of things. The last line of the story blew me away. This is definitely a book for the ages, where fated mates find one another lifetime after lifetime. It is so sweet. You'll really enjoy it.

This review is for one book in this boxed set:
SPRING TRAINING by Suz DeMello
WINNING THE GAME
Chase McCall, a pitcher, is at spring training. He is at a disadvantage being 32 years-old when the new guys are in their early 20s. Terri, a female trainer, has aspirations of being the first female coach of a major league baseball team, but first she must prove herself as their trainer. From their first meeting, there is an attraction between Chase and Terri. Terri is a Domme, and Chase has had fantasies about submission since childhood. These two hit it out of the ballpark with chemistry that sizzling hot. Disclosure: I received a Kindle gift of this boxed set in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own.

Naughty Flings box set has something for everyone. The stories are all different and very fun. I enjoyed each one because they had such unique characters. Teach Me to Dance had a surprise twist that I didn't see. In The Lochness Monster, I cheered for the characters to find love. Each story either tugged at my heart or heated up the room. My Kind of Lover has a kick-butt heroine that knows what she wants. And in Sticky and Sweet, you will never look at ice cream in the same way again. In Buying Adam, I was so glad Jessica could make Angela's wishes NOT come true. Angela was a prime *itch.

All in all, each story will introduce you to some wonderful new authors and show you about the power of love.

Only read The Shadowlord's Arrival by Charlotte Boyett-Compo. It was OK but If it had been any longer I would have been bored.
