A.M. Madden writes for the hopeless romantics, and I’m definitely one of them! I have read most of her books so far, and have loved them all!

Glass Ceilings is a very engaging and intriguing read. I literally devoured this book ! The plot was mysterious and intense, but at the same time, it was a great story of true love and parenthood, with genuine characters.

For the last six months, Nick Farley has been the cocky and charming bartender of a trendy downtown Chicago bar. But in reality, he is an FBI agent on his last undercover assignment before being promoted. Meeting Angela Cavello during the last days of his assignment was obviously not part of the plan. Nick breathes his job responsibilities and having a personal life isn’t his purpose. However, despite all rational thoughts and well-laid plans, both Nick and Angela have to admit their connection and feelings for each other can’t be denied. I’m usually not a fan of all things insta, but in Ms. Madden's words, it just felt right. This story is about true love and what is meant to be.

However, circumstances and ill-intentioned people get in the way of their future together and Nick loses all contact with Angela. Two years later, a murder investigation forces them to meet again. Nick is in his role of high-ranking FBI agent and Angela is a person of interest in a murder case. Despite Nick’s initial anger, their all-consuming love is still the same. And soon, everything will change in Nick’s well organized life, as he discovers the joy of parenthood.

In addition to being deeply emotional and heartfelt, this story was a great page-turner, with enough mystery and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat ! This book will release on May 24th, and I definitely recommend it! It's the second installment in the "True Heroes" series, but it can be read as a standalone.

I didn't buy the reason for the separation, though I did like Nick's honesty with Angela. She knew exactly where she stood and I was glad that he had moved on to a sort-of relationship with Stacie after Angela pulled her disappearing act for two freaking years!

This book was...frustrating? I'm not even sure thats the word but I'm going with it. So, these 2 have a one night stand, then shit gets in the way, and she gets scared of what her ex might do and dumps him. DRAMA ensues which normally doesn't bother me but this drama just didn't even feel like it was that big. It felt really manufactured. Like-get over it, its not that big of a deal. You are making a mountain out of a molehill and now you HAVE created a problem. Ugh! But, I did finish the book in 1 night because I just had to know. So, theres that.

3.5 The Chemistry Can Be Real Stars
* * * 1/2
This was a story of missed communications....as each was loving the other but life, danger and fear got in the way. Couple all of that with the FBI, the MOB, an obsessive ex, a once in a lifetime love and the need to forgive... and you have a book which will take you on a ride.

This is the second entry of the True Heroes series. I hadn't read the first book and it did not cause me any issues in enjoying this book.

It is a basic premise of undercover FBI agent in Chicago working his assignment as a bartender in this bar called The Dump. There he is collecting information to close down a major drug operation for one of the "Families". It is at the end of his time there and we are in his head while he thinks about how he has almost accomplished his goal. He is a driven man; talented in reading people and has wanted this path since he was 5 years old.

He is thinking about how he has enjoyed his unwilling partner in his assignment of sexy bartendar, sharp-shooter Dart man extraordinaire, and ladies man. The guy who has lined up all the betting for the games, the guy who is a loose canyon with his mouth and the ladies... this guy has become a friend and our fella is feeling guilty that he had to play part around him. He vows to himself that after this is all over, he will reach out and re-connect.

The main thrust of the story starts when a young woman is leaving with her friends...she is the one our agent sees...yes, her friend is pretty, a lot flirty and built...but it is the shy one that catches his eye. Both men saw the group and his friend comments on them as they were something to behold.

As stories go... the two women the guys were focused on, come back another night. Our FBI agent/ bartender works the bar and watches his woman... yes, he has focused on this girl... and he's liking what he sees...but he also knows he is leaving and it is not fair to her or even him to pursue anything.

His friend and her friend, though, have no such issues and become a banter team; flirting, teasing swapping spit and embarrassing our guy and girl silly. It is funny, cute, brash and provides a lot to this story.

We all know these two will eventually get together... things are in play; the other pals are pushing them to be together and we also learn of her breaking up with an abusive boyfriend. She is leaving Chicago and moving to NYC. As the these facts come out, this couple make the leap... give in to everything and create a trust together from that point on.

Or at least they tried.

But life with a scary ex's do not just become all easy and happy endings. Things happen and decisions are made which have huge ramifications for all concerned. Years will pass before the dust settles and can be rectified.

I liked this story, yet there was a push pull for me in the reading of it. I really can't put my finger on why. This was a complete tale. The couple have a true arc and there is much for the reader to become attached and invested. The plot points bring emotions to the forefront with times where we see the best in each character. I will say some of the most fun times were with the secondary characters. It had the necessary suspense and will keep you interested.

Overall, I think it was a solid read.

4 stars!

This is a really great read! I went into it not knowing what to expect (and wasn’t overly excited by the cover), and I was very happily surprised. It’s the second in the True Heroes series, but can easily be read as a standalone, and is a gorgeous second-chance romance with lots of chemistry, a beautiful love story and a mystery/crime storyline, all told from the POV of a strong and instantly-loveable hero. I was very quickly sucked in and was so invested in these characters and their story that I struggled to put it down. I loved it!

Nick Farley is an FBI agent working undercover in a bar in downtown Chicago. He is investigating a drug ring with mafia connections, and is heavily wrapped up in his cover. While working at the bar one night he spies Angela Cavallo. Beautiful, smart and shy, she instantly captures his interest, but with his case winding up and Nick due to return to New York City imminently, he doesn’t want to start something that he won’t get a chance to explore. But when his best friend, Jase, hooks up with Angela’s cousin, Eva, it provides the opportunity for lots of interaction, and with their friends pushing them together at every opportunity and the mad sexual tension between them, it doesn’t take too long for Nick to make his move.

“It was a kiss, Nick…”
“It was amazing, Angela. Don’t tell me you didn’t feel the same … I want to do that again. And, I want to do much more.”

Nick and Angela have a freakish chemistry. Their connection is strong, and when they are unable to hold back from each other anymore, they share an incredible night together. One which they both know realise is the beginning of something special.

“I know there’s something between us that can’t be ignored. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never felt this way before.”
“Neither have I,” she admitted quietly.
“And I don’t have a clue what this could become or where it could lead, but I’d like to find out.”

So Nick returns to New York City with Angela due to follow him, but all too soon everything falls to pieces. It’s two years later when they finally see each other again, and it’s when Angela is bought in as a ‘person of interest’ in the case that Nick is investigating. Angela broke Nick’s heart when she broke up with him and seemingly disappeared, but seeing her again has all of that same emotion and longing flooding right back. But then she blow his world to pieces when she tells him that she has his one year old son.

I must admit, I’m a total sucker for this kind of story. I love a second chance romance, and throw a baby in, and I’m done! I am not, however, a fan of heroines hiding secret children from a hero. I think it’s one of the most despicable things a woman can do. However, Angela has her reasons, and once explained, I could understand them and I thought the way she handled herself and opened herself up completely to come clean and tell Nick everything was really well done. Her guilt, heartache and pain is really well portrayed, and I honestly believed that she wishes it all could have been so different.

And Nick’s part of the story is fantastically written. The book is written primarily from his POV, with only a few flashback chapters from Angela’s perspective, and I LOVE getting his view on things. The turmoil that he goes through having Angela back in his life is so well explored – he has loved her all of this time, and his need and desire for her is almost overwhelming at times, but he is so incredibly, and justifiably furious at her, and his heartbreak is compounded by everything that he missed in their time apart. I could feel his pain, and how torn he was. And seeing him with baby Nicholas was almost enough to make my ovaries explode. Here is this big, gruff FBI investigator with a shattered heart who is absolutely blown away by this tiny one year old. He instantly falls in love with his son, and seeing Nick’s wonder and watching them together was so, so beautiful!

The anger toward his mother I’d been consumed with slowly dissipated with each moment I held my son. None of it mattered anymore, not the lies, the secrecy, none of it. The only thing that mattered was the tiny person I clutched in my arms.

Their love story develops beautifully! Wanting to put all of their secrets behind them, Angela is completely up-front with Nick about the fact that she still loves him. Nick knows he still has feelings for her, so it’s just a matter of him working through it all and figuring out what he wants, and it’s a beautiful journey watching him come to his decision and then move forward to get his HEA. It’s beautifully swoony, and SO freaking functional! Seriously, these two talk about everything, and their honesty with each other is refreshing and wonderful to read.

“I have nothing to hide from you any longer, you know everything. I’m just waiting for you to catch up.”

“I wanted to hate you … I simply couldn’t…and now, I just want to make up for every single day we were apart, start over, start something amazing, start what I knew we could be together.”

But further complicating their reunion is the case that Angela was questioned over. It’s all tied into their past together and there are a lot of questions still unanswered and potential dangers to face. It also impacts on Nick’s role in the FBI as the former career man starts to adjust his priorities. It gives an interesting twist to the story and provides some excitement, and I liked the way it all played out.

This was one of those all-encompassing reads. The multiple storylines are blended well, and I was totally engaged the whole way through. But, I’m a romance reader, and bottom line, that’s what I was wanting, and I wasn’t disappointed. Nick and Angela’s love story builds beautifully from their initial intense attraction to a soul-deep love that has a lot of hurdles to overcome before they can get their happy ending. It could have easily dissolved into stupid behaviour and unnecessary angst, but they managed their situation perfectly, communicating well, never holding anything back, and I love that!

I also love the side characters, Jase and Eva bring a great lightness to the story and Jase, in particular, is so freaking funny, and I loved how supportive he was. There is also a catch up with the couple from the previous book, and what I’m hoping is a lead in to the next book .

This was a really enjoyable read. It’s my first by A.M. Madden, and I’m definitely looking forward to more.

4 stars.

I can honestly say I've read every book AM Madden has written. Glass Ceilings is in my top 3 favorites, along with Back-up and Backstage. It was freaking awesome.

Nick Farley is an FBI agent and all about work. He lived and breathed his job and loved every minute of it. Then one day while working under cover a girl walks in and shakes up his world.

Angela Cavello was beautiful, inside and out. In the short time she and Nick spent together, they both knew they shared a connection neither could deny.

Unfortunately, sometimes there are outside circumstances that prevent true love, even when it's meant to be. Fast forward two years and those circumstances have morphed into epic proportions that just so happen to bring Nick and Angela back together again.

Situations can change but true love stays the same. Can true love overcome all the changes that occurred in the past two years? Will the changes be too much for them to overcome or will they become the glue that keeps them together.

I can only say you will love following this story from beginning to the end. The suspense will have you sitting at the edge of your seat and wondering what will happen next. It's a guaranteed page turner!!

Another sweet story by A.M. Madden. The couple in this standalone book is FBI Agent Nick Farley who you are introduced to in book one. Glass Ceilings is a second chance romantic suspense story not much different from the first book. Main hero is in law enforcement and main heroine is in danger from mob family. Because of that danger, Angela learns immediately that she has to stay away from Nick for his safety. The book fast forwards two years when they meet again when Angela gets pulled in for questioning for her ex's murder and Nick happens to be one of the agent on the case. The author takes you on their journey of healing and building back what they once had all the while dealing with the murder case of Angela's ex. There are a lot of bumps in the road but they end up stronger than ever. I already have my guess on who will be the next Hero in book 3!

Disappointed

I really wanted to love this book because I enjoyed the premise of the story. The hero is an undercover FBI agent and while working to bring down a local criminal ring has a one night stand with a girl who ends up getting pregnant and disappears because of a stalker and finally comes back after two years to tell our hero he is the father of a baby boy.

Unfortunately, this book really fell flat for me. The beginning was really slow to develop and Nick and Angela actually became friends before they had their one-night stand and kept in touch afterward via phone call since Nick had to go to New York after he wrapped up his investigation to start his job since he was promoted. Then the story was told in flashbacks in every other chapter and I hate that type of gimmick.

I also hated the fact after Angela came back after two years to introduce Nick to his son that Nick had another girl already. And he kept waffling back and forth between the two women and he couldn't even figure out if he even loved Angela. I think this was pretty much the reason that I gave this book a one star because of Nick's indecision. Not that he ever really loved the other woman, but he felt some type of loyalty to her. However, Angela was true to Nick the entire time she was in hiding and she hid because she wanted to protect her family, her son and Nick. So I felt that Nick really didn't deserve Angela and that Nick's character was very much lacking. He ended up not really being much of a hero.

I couldn't wait to read Nick's story. AM has done it again by keeping me so into what I was reading that I didn't want to put my kindle down. With Nick finishing up his assignment he never thought he would have meet Angela. What was suppose to be a one night stand changed both their lives. What happens when the one night you had together still stays with u until you are reunited again? Absolutely love Nick and Angela story. I felt every emotion that they were going through and was captured in the love they had for each other. AM is an author that every time she releases a book I will always buy and dive right in, I am never disappointed. I can't wait until David's story

Wow! This book......so much to say. First of all I absolutely love Nick! I thought I really loved Ben, but Nick blew me away!
So so much heart, so many emotions that just grabbed me from the start.
Nick meeting Angela, you just knew it was special, that they were at the right place at the right time. But is it?
I can't give too much away in this review but you will not expect the things that happen.
This story proves to me that love conquers all and that true love exists when you least expect it to waltz in the door....or out.
I highly recommend this read. Can't wait for the next story......

AM Madden at her finest for sure! Nick Farley is such a strong character and I absolutely fell in love with him!! Angela Cavello is someone we see as weak but she is anything but. She is just as strong as Nick if not more. They both have such loving personalities and love with all their hearts. In Glass Ceilings Madden gives us suspense, drama and all the romance we have come to know from her. And let's just say that Nick does not let us down...so get ready to press your 5 star button for another sexy, hot read!

While the plot had me turning the pages my overall enjoyment was affected by my lack of connection with the characters. I just failed to connect with them =/

Super sexy cop Nick Farley has had his share of danger and mischief. New Years Eve night is a perfect example of the danger and mischief he likes however; a fling with Angela Cavello left him wondering and wanting..oh did that night leave him wanting.

Running from a stalker, and a huge secret, Angela finds herself back where she has always wondered what if with Nick. However, the huge secret will affect Nick for the rest of his life. Is he willing to step up and be the man that Angela knows he can be?

When Angela is the suspect in a murder, watching Nick battle with what he knows is right and what he knows in his heart will tug at any reader's heart strings. This book had a way of worming itself into my heart. I wanted Nick to fight for Angela, be the man that the reader oh so easily sees he is, and just does what he knows, deep down is right. The heartbreak, and then make up, is so worth this read!

**Nick! Amazing! I need to tell you how much I Love this book!! I tried to drag out the last chapter because I didn't want it to end! WOW!!
I have been dying for Nick’s book since he got my attention in Backstage (The Back-Up Series #4) and after reading Glass ceilings he now owns my attention the man is Hot Hot Hot!! Alpha Passionate HOT!
Glass Ceilings is a captivating romantic story that is filled with suspense, mystery emotion and sexiness! Nick is an FBI agent who pours his heart and soul into his Job, Angela is woman with a past that causes turmoil in her life not allowing her to move forward to better future. The love story between Nick and Angela is Hot!! There is no denying the chemistry between these two. Just wait until you read about their first kiss!! (INTENSE and Heart Melting) I am still “SIGHING!” I can go on and on about the passion that radiates from Nick and Angela, but Glass ceilings is so much more. It’s a gripping page turner.
AM Madden has a way with her writing that you as the reader feel the emotion that is coming through her characters, there was quite a few times where I wanted to reach into the book and hug Nick or I wanted to cry for Angela. But also at the same time I found myself laughing out loud with antics of Jase (Nick’s friend) and Eve (Angela’s cousin) and wanting to be their best friend as well.
Love this book! A definite MUST READ!! I was on the edge of my seat needing to know what was going to happen next!!!

On a cold Chicago night, in a bar called The Dump, Nick Farley met Angela Cavello for the first time. After that first glimpse, Nick could not forget her. After a very expensive, very explosive first kiss, Nick could not forget her. And after one very passionate night together, Nick knew he would not, could not forget her. A one night stand is just that, one night and although they had to go their separate ways, they both hoped to meet up again soon. Plans change, things happen, circumstances keep them apart for almost two years, and when they finally meet again, it is not a reunion that either of them expected. In this short span of time a lot has happened, to both Nick and Angela. The chemistry still crackles between them, the ability to speak without talking is still there, but things have changed, they have changed. Can Nick and Angela find their way back to one another, when it seems everything and everybody is trying to keep them apart, maybe permanently!
This is a must read, A.M. Madden has a way of making you feel that you are in the same room with her characters. At times I felt so sorry for Nick, his hurt and frustration, a tangible thing. Be forewarned, there will be hot passionate sex, there will be surprises, there will be suspense and shock. I laughed, I cried and most importantly I fell in love with Nick and Angela.

GENRE: Contemporary Romance, Suspense, Mystery
PUBLICATION DATE: May 24, 2016
CLIFF HANGER: No

4 Stars

NOTE: Glass Ceilings is meant for mature audiences 18+ due to sexual content and adult situations.
SYNOPSIS:

When a perfect new love is shattered, two hearts will do anything to pick up the pieces. In this sizzling novel from the author of Stone Walls, irresistible heat leads to sensual thrills—and a secret that changes everything.

Two years ago, Nick Farley was undercover as a bartender in Chicago. The tough-as-steel FBI agent was working all the angles to build a case against a local crime syndicate, but even his intense focus was no match for the sight of Angela Cavallo’s plump pink lips pulling on her drink. All Nick got was one night—the longest, hottest, sweetest night of his life. It could have been the beginning of something real. Instead, she walked away—and Nick watched her go.

Angela has made some mistakes in her life, but Nick was never one of them. Nor was the baby boy he doesn’t know about. But Angela has been running from a stalker for so long that she’s forgotten how to feel safe. So when Nick suddenly reappears in her life, Angela faces a moment of truth. She wants to trust him and reveal her secrets—her life and the life of their son may depend on it—but first she needs to know that Nick can handle her past, and promise the one thing she most craves: a future together.

MY THOUGHTS:
I am a big fan of A.M. Madden and her Back Up series so I was excited to read Glass Ceilings. I didn’t read the first book, Stone Walls, but Glass Ceilings is a stand-alone novel from the True Heroes series. I didn’t feel I was missing out on any big plot information.

This is a story of love found and love lost through very unfortunate circumstances. There was miscommunication, as well as lack of communication to keep the other person safe, as well as to keep themselves and all that they loved out of harm’s way.

The chemistry was instant, but Angela tried to keep Nick away because she just came out of an abusive relationship and planned to leave Chicago for New York. Little did she know Nick was soon leaving Chicago for New York, once the bust went down on the dive bar called the Dump that Nick worked at. His boss and owner was involved with the mob and ran drugs from his establishment.

Nick and Angela kissed on New Year’s Eve and both wanted nothing more than to hook up, but Angela was scared and left the Dump. Angela’s cousin Eve is a constant source of hilarity with her outspoken and devil may care attitude. Then bring into the mix the crazy friend of Nick’s, Jase Newton. He is the male version of Eve and they seemed to have found their soul mate, crazy antics included. Through their constant encouragement Nick went after Angela.

Nick description

Angela description

Nick and Angela have one incredible night of passion and the connection was incredible. They were both planning on moving to New York for different reasons, but Nick convinced Angela to stay with him when she first arrived in New York. However, that never happened. A delay caused by the death of a beloved uncle (Eve’s father) and threats from Angela’s ex-boyfriend, put her on the run. Angela had to break up with Nick and it broke her heart. Angela had fallen in love with Nick and she knew she was pregnant with his child, but feared for Nick’s safety because of implied threats from her ex. So she cut all ties and went into hiding.

Fast forward two years and Angela is in New York and being interrogated by Nick because she is implicated in the murder of her ex-boyfriend. Nick is angry and still hasn’t recovered from his heart break with Angela. He felt in his soul she was it for him, but when she just severed all ties he had nothing, so he had to move on. He was devastated when he found out that he had missed the birth of his son and the first year of his life.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Angela and Nick. Both Angela and Nick have a plan for their life and it doesn't include falling in love. They both feel the attraction and might be willing to go for a one night stand but no more than that. Angela has a plan be in Chicago only through the holiday after that she off to another city. Angela has some baggage in her her life that makes her very cautious and apprehensive about being with someone new. So when Eve and Jase practically force them into a possible one night stand the seed is sown she just has to decide what she will do with that see.

Nick is a man with a lot of secrets and knows that he wants to know more about Angela but this could not be worse timing. Nick feels the spark but isn't sure if Angela does. So what does he do? He acts like a love sick puppy dog in the beginning but as he knows his time is running out he must step up his game before he's gone. Nick isn't sure how much of himself and what he really does for a living that Angela can deal with but the more he learns about her the more he sees his future with this woman.

There is so much I want to tell you about their story but I don't want to ruin any surprises that as a reader you will find. This book is amazing and will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. You will be rooting for them one moment and wanting to smack them the next. There are appearances from Ben and Ella which you meet in Stone Walls. This is a story about love, forgiveness, and fighting for that HEA that everyone wants in a relationship.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
'Glass Ceilings' by A.M. Madden is book two in the series " True Heroes".

This was a surprisingly good book. I wasn't really taken with the cover of the book but did like the story line. Once you start reading the book though you quickly come to like the book and won't want to put it down!

Nick Farley is a FBI Agent that goes undercover sometimes. Nick was pretty much a workaholic, tough FBI agent. Finishing up one of his undercover assignments he meets Angela Cavallo. They have a one night stand that Angela end up leaving him.

Angela is brought in for questioning on a new case Nick is working on. Now they meet again and we get to see if they will move forward with what they both have always wanted after that first encounter.

Really Great Read!! It has everything you could want in a romance.

If ever there was that one author that you absolutely love anything he or she writes, that would be Am Madden. She is by far my go to author and I've read all her books at least twice.
In Glass Ceilings we get to know Nick Farley more and we meet Angela. These two couldn't be more perfect for eachother yet fate has other plans... at first.
I love the suspense and mystery as much as the romance and just plain TO HOT TO HANDLE attraction in this book.
This is the second book in Am's new Hero's series so I highly recommend that you read Stone walls first. This author has the uncanny ability to write each character with their own personality. They're all different and likeable. Once you pick up one of Am Madden's books you'll get where I'm coming from.
If you like your men alpha and sizzling hot and the women who can bring them to their knees than this is the book and author for you.

This book has characters from Ben Stones book. You have Nick Farley who is undercover cop. He didn't know that when he was working that he would meet someone that wouldn't give into his charm. Angela was out with her cousin Even when they stopped in while Nick was working at the bar. Angela wasn't looking for a relationship but her cousin wanted her to have a fun night. Little did she know a fun night would turn into more. That is when a few years later nick is working a new job and who gets brought in for question the one that stole his heart Angela. This is where the story begins and where all the twist and turns in the story begin. There is emotion and I couldn't have predicted some of the stuff like other books. Well written!

OMG what an amazing story!! Such an emotional roller coaster of laughs, tears, and suspense. I was literally on the edge of my seat and the OMG moments.....The OMG moments had me completely stunned!! As always A.M. Madden knows how to write a story that will completely grip you, captivate you, and draw you in from the first page. These characters are strong and so realistic that you can't help but feel everything right with them. Ms. Madden is a master of her craft and I will gladly read any and everything she writes, and I have to say this is one of my favorites.

Received this copy for an honest review.

Glass Ceilings is a wonderful mixture of heat, angst, action, surprise, and love. Nick Farley is one hot man and AM Madden gives the reader no choice but to fall head over heels in love with him. Angela Cavello is a strong heroine, with a soft side and a big heart, and she's the perfect complement to Nick. This story takes you on a journey of ups and downs, thrills and chills, and suspense and drama. Prepare for the ride - you will love it! Regardless of what all those other women say, #NickIsMine. :)

ARC received for review

LOVED IT! Nick and Angela were just amazing. Their journey through this book was never rushed or hurried. It was mostly told from his voice, and I wanted more of hers. There were bad guys, great friendships, lots of laughs, some tears, romance and sex. His friend, Jace, and her cousin, Eva, were so funny. You couldn't ask for better friends and family. I'm going to have to go back and read the first book that is his friends, Ben and Ella. I really, really, really hope the next book is her brother, David.

So sadly I did not really love this book and most of it had to do the MC's. What started so cute and promising just tired me out and left me rolling my eyes. The heroine and hero meet when he is undercover working in a bar. The two instantly click and finally sleep together after only a few meetings. They both are planning moves to NYC and hope to continue to work on their relationship once there. Though things do not quite work out that way and it's about two years before they see each other again. The heroine has a dangerous ex who basically leads her to running and keeping the heroes child a secret from him. Normally I'm all for a secret baby romance but the heroine had no real cause of justification for this especially since he told her he was working undercover. Umm would someone in law enforcement not be someone who can protect and help you? The only viable threat she knows about is someone slashing the heroes tires. This is enough to set her on the path and she breaks his heart (and I guess maybe she truly did, the insta-lust/love was real) and he goes off to sleep his way through women, back to his playboy ways to forget her. I didn't get any sense he even tried to fight for her. The two are brought back together when the heroine is brought in for questioning after her ex is found dead with a gunshot wound to the head. Luckily the two get down to business and the heroine does not hold back in telling him about their child. The hero is justifiably mad but this whole mess was just blown so out of proportion. In days the hero is ready to give it all up for her again but has to break it off with his side chick who he's been screwing on and off for about a year. This is what threw me and made me feel some type of way about him. When he goes to break it off with her, he even questions if it's the right thing to do. Meaning he was a lot more serious about them than he let on, no matter what he says after the fact. I really felt like he was pushed into a corner and just chose the heroine because they shared a child, it was awkward. When the heroine confronts him and really questions him if he is making the right choice he tells her it's not fair to his side piece or him to speculate on what could have been. Umm what, that just comes off so wrong to me?!?! He has to remind himself what they had was comfortable and enjoyable but nothing more. "I wanted to say my draw to Stacie was because she reminded me so much of her. (the heroine) She filled a void that all the other women I fucked these past twenty-two months simply couldn't. Except for Stacie, not one of them meant a thing to me." Sounds a bit more serious to me and why does he need to remind himself of that if it's not true? Guess I just like my men a bit more romantic and head over heels than he was. I just did not get that really from either of them. Sure the sexual chemistry is off the charts but their first time together is rushed and then after they are sort of forced together because of the case and their sharing a child. Just wish there was more foundation built for them.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review :) originally I didn't sing up for it :) I was actually contacted by the publisher with a recommendation, that if I am a fan of Sawyer Bennett I might enjoy this story... :) and I AM a fan of her writing style, so I've decided to give this one a try... and that was quite some time ago... this story has been sitting on my kindle for... I'm afraid to actually count that amount, so let's just move on :) I haven't picked it up sooner because... I'm not really sure why... maybe it was the cover, maybe it was the fact that I haven't found it on my own made it slipped my mind... but once I started reading it, I was totally kicking myself for waiting so long... because I really enjoyed it :) and don't worry, even though it's a second book in a series, it can be totally read as a standalone as well :)

Let me start by saying a little bit more about our main couple :) Nick and Angela met in a bar where he was working undercover... because of that, and the fact that both of them had a lot of other stuff going on, their chemistry turned into just one, very hot, night... but they were supposed to meet in another city soon after, cause both of them were moving there, to see where this connection between them can go... unfortunately a lot of stuff happened after their one night and the next time they see each other in person is when she is brought in for questioning to the FBI where he works, almost two years later... dun dun duuuunnnn... ;) sorry, it just slipped, I couldn't stop myself :) let me explain that a little bit more :) so the book is actually divided into three parts :) the first part tells us how they met and got together in Chicago, then we have a two years jump and that second part catches us up with the things that happened during that time... and then the last part is about what is happening now... and there is a lot going on besides just those two getting back together... but I'm not gonna say more about that, because spoilers, obviously :) especially since quite a lot is happening with Nick and Angela... and I have to say that usually I'm not a fan of these "secret baby" storylines, but here I could really understand why she did it, plus the whole situation was handled by both of them in a very mature way... and grown ups acting like adults, talking and communicating using words and everything is always something I enjoy in books :) and no, it's not a major spoiler... it's not even a minor spoiler, cause that "secret baby" info is in the synopsis :) but yeah, she got pregnant during that one night, but because of all the complications happening around her and the informations she had at that moment, I can't really blame her for acting the way she did... so don't be judgemental and just read this story before you go and hate her for what she did...

Besides our main couple, and all the stuff that is connected to them, we have two other pairs I want to mention :) first, there's Ben and Ella, main characters from the first book in this series :) they don't have a huge role to play in this story, but I am mentioning them to you, cause after reading a scene here and there about them I am definitely curious and want to know how they got together... :) and the second couple I absolutely have to write about, cause they stole my heart :) is Jase and Eve :) Eve is Angela's cousin, and Jase is Nick's friend from that time working undercover in the bar :) they met the same night when Nick met Angela and instantly hit it off :) they are hilarious, a little bit crazy and I loved every scene with them :) there were also quite a few other characters appearing in this book, but I don't want to mention them by name, cause most of them are connected to that mysterious situation that I can't really mention in more details, so you're just gonna have to discover them on your own :)

Overall I was actually really surprised by this book... in the best possible way :) the majority of it was written from Nick's perspective, which is a new thing for me, but I very much enjoyed it :) I'm used to either reading the heroine's perspective, dual POVs or books written in third person :) I absolutely loved how mature both of them were... how they handled very hard situations in quite realistic way, resolving their issues by actually talking with each other :) it's not as common as one would want it to be :) and I was really glad that basically all of those secrets between them were out in the open pretty quickly... which is always a plus for me :) all in all it was a really lovely story, about two people overcoming circumstances to finally be together... I am definitely gonna read some other books written by this author, cause I enjoyed this story very much :) so if you are in the mood for some wery well written romance with a hint of drama and mystery, be sure to give this one a try :)

XOXO

My star rating for GLASS CEILINGS is: 4 out of 5 stars! :)

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’
after reading an ARC Copy of ‘GLASS CEILINGS’
(via: BooksMoviesFandoms.wordpress.com):

In this entertaining second-installment of the True Heroes Series titled “Glass Ceilings” by A. M. Madden, you’re given a great blend of suspense, romance, and mystery. I did not get the chance to check out the first novel of this series but they are written in a way that they could be read as Stand-alone stories. Glass Ceilings is written from the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Nick Farley and Angela Cavello.

“Nick Smith” was hired at a local Chicago bar called The Dump. This wasn’t just a regular job for him, he got a job there in order to go undercover to investigate and load-up on evidence of a possible drug ring within the location. The unexpected occurs right before his time is up at this job. He meets an attractive woman named Angela. He can’t help but want to get to know her even though he knows his time is limited in Chicago.

Angela Cavello is a beautiful brunette woman who currently lives with her fun cousin Eve. She had no plans of meeting any guys and only had her mind set on getting out of Chicago. The city itself was not at fault for her need to escape but her obsessive ex-boyfriend Ronnie has been cruel enough to make her want to run away from him and this city as soon as she possibly can. But now she’s met Nick, the very sexy bartender who she quickly feels a growing attraction for.

As Nick and Angela begin to explore their attraction to each other little by little, over a brief amount of time, they both share their secrets and what plans they have in store. Will Nick fall for the beautiful woman that he’s quickly become smitten with or will he move to New York and forget all about Angela? And can Angela escape her ex and start a new life? Can there be any room to get to know Nick or is he simply a distraction she doesn’t need right now?

What could of been a big turning point for Nick and Angela, simply becomes a past bitter memory. There are secrets that they have kept from each other and when they once again reunite, will the spark bring them back together or will their secrets rip them apart once and for all? The storyline was quite entertaining with a good dose of suspense and mystery, and of course I can’t forget to mention their romantic and hot connection. If you’re looking for more than just another amazing romance and love some excitement of the suspenseful variety, then I recommend this book for you. It’s worth checking out. :)

My star rating for GLASS CEILINGS is: 4 out of 5 stars! :)

** I received an advanced readers copy from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**

Glass Ceilings is the second book in the True Heroes series but can be read as a stand alone. I did not have the opportunity to read the first one and it did not impact my enjoyment at all.

The story started out with Nick working undercover as a bartender in Chicago. His goal was to get Intel on a drug ring and then head to New York where his career as an FBI agent would take the next step. He didn't count on making friends or meeting Angela at the tail end of his mission. He couldn't get her out of his head and although he knew he would be leaving, he couldn't seem to keep away from her. Right before he left for New York the two shared a passionate and emotional night together in which they planned for a future to explore the overwhelming connection that they felt towards each other.

But...

Complications, misunderstandings, crazy ex boyfriends and all kinds of outside factors kept that from happening for almost two years. When their paths finally did cross again, there were all kinds of new obstacles and issues to overcome on their path back to each other.

This book started out really strong in my opinion. I could really feel the chemistry and emotional connection between Nick and Angela. With every interaction I was silently cheering them on and wishing they would just succumb to the attraction. Although it took them a little while, the wait wasn't excruciatingly long like some other books I have read. It was just about perfect. There was enough time to build the chemistry but not so much that it got annoying. I really enjoyed their time in Chicago.

The story slowed down a little once both of them were in New York for me. Although I was still routing for them I found I wasn't as glued to the pages. I think it was due in part to the story surrounding Angela's ex and the mob. It just wasn't as exciting or interesting as the rest of the story and was kind of weak for lack of better words.

I definitely enjoyed the characters in this book. Even the secondary characters (excluding the mob) were a treat to get to know. I loved the banter, chemistry and closeness of this group of friends.

This series is one that I will be sure to follow. If the chemistry that Madden created in this book is any indication of what is to come in future instalments, I am all in!

**Normally I don't mention book covers when writing my thoughts but I have to in this case. The cover is horrible. If I were browsing in a book store or library I would walk right on past this one. It does not do the book justice at all.**

A.M. Madden delivers another hot cop with Nick Farley in Glass Ceilings. This Stone Walls companion novel, starts with a fun and sexy fling over New Years between Nick and Angela. Their undeniable connection developed quickly into a combustible chemistry that set their world on fire and burned it down. There was something special about these two that endeared them to me instantly. A.M. Madden has written a powerful story of love, loss, and longing that will make you feel a hurricane of emotions. I felt the highs and lows of their story, mesmerized by the unraveling depth of the characters and the thoughtfully executed storyline. I laughed, cringed, and wanted to throw things while reading Glass Ceilings, unable to put it down until I’d reached the end.

Both of our main characters exhibited significant growth over the course of this book. Angela’s emotions were close to the surface, her fear and mistrust palpable and generating a tension that carried throughout her journey. Even when she frustrated me, A.M. Madden made Angela’s plight one you could sympathize with and even understand, giving this character a surprising relatability. Seeing this character develop and find her strength was definitely satisfying. Nick intrigued me from the beginning. There was something about him that was guarded, sparking my curiosity while his developing relationship with Angela thoroughly hooked me. I was pleasantly surprised by the emotional vulnerability and total honesty Nick exhibited. His pain and feelings of loss and betrayal obvious in a way that made my heart ache for him. This quality gave him a sense of balance, complimenting his tough, protective persona and ensuring that Nick felt absolutely genuine.

A.M. Madden’s growth as an author continues to amaze me, her writing expertly capturing the thrill and angst of this couple’s journey. The well paced plot and carefully developed characters further evidence of A.M.’s devotion to this story. I adored the way A.M. Madden structured this storyline. The beginning portion felt light, fun, and youthfully exuberant. Even as A.M. Madden wrenched my heart open repeatedly, that underlying bliss kept me enchanted by Angela and Nick’s journey. Each twist and turn of the plot had me clenching my fists and clinging to hope that they would somehow hold onto that light which made them so special. Glass Ceilings was the perfect mix of romance and action. I swooned and grinned and fell in love with Angela and Nick while constantly on the edge of my seat, waiting for Angela’s past to catch up with them. Glass Ceilings is fun, sexy, and full of suspense; thrilling and captivating me from start to finish.

Wow I so need more than just 5 stars for this book!! I don't even know if 10 stars would be enough! A.M Madden keeps getting better and better at her ability to just pull you in and keep you there. Once you start one of her books you literally have to finish it. She brings everything in such a way you feel that you are there and the emotions that she can pull out of you!!! I always feel that I don't do reviews justice and half the time I know I don't but I know that other readers understand my ramblings.
In this book we get to know Mr. Nick Farley better. Now if you've read any of her other books we meet him in Trey's book. And if you haven't it's not a problem you can read this without reading the other but I would recommend all her books. Anyway we get more into the sexy FBI agent Nick. Two years ago Nick was on an undercover case and while working that he meet Angela Cavello. They had an instant attraction and it was only supposed to be a one night stand. But it was so much more.....
They had planned to meet back up but when one thing after another happened and dangerous situations arise Angela felt it better to stay away. Now almost two years later circumstances and other things bring them back together. But there is alot of secrets and problems along with resentment and guilt. But still underneath it all they still have such a strong chemistry together will they be able to figure out their true feelings? And with danger lurking around them will they be safe? Well you will just have to find out when you read this book! And I would highly recommend it! It is a standalone, no cliffhanger but you will want more and you will get more because it is a series. I hope that I gave this book the review it deserves because it really is one of the best I've read. And now I will leave you with one of my favorite lines in this book. " The kiss was the best motherfucking kiss I ever had in my life." Ahhhhhh swoon!!!!!

4 Stars, 3 Flames
Glass Ceilings is the second book in the True Heroes series by A.M. Madden and can be read alone as it does not continue from the previous book. Nick just has one last undercover mission before he moves onto New York. Angela thought she knew who she loved and followed to Chicago. Once he shows his true colors, Angela runs and vows to live her life how she wants it. Meeting Nick was never part of the plan neither was falling in love.
Nick was a favorite character of mine. He was always putting Angela first and he was always so perceptive of those around him that made him so likeable and good at his job. I was saddened about how things went down between Angela and Nick that seemed to stretch on a little longer than necessary. But when they finally reunite it is magic and Nick fills in his role perfectly. Angela was a likeable character but it felt like she was a push over in a few ways especially when it came to Eve and even Nick at certain points.
Miss Madden has an amazing way of bringing her characters to life that it feels you are part of the story. I was hoping to get more of Angela’s POV but even without it, it felt like I knew what she was thinking and feeling. I enjoyed seeing Ben and Ella again which was awesome because I loved those two. You could see how Angela and Ella will be great friends given time where each can nurture the other. Nick will be doing the same thing as he helped her out of her shell and gave her the strength to stand on her own.
This novel was filled with suspense that was kind of predictable but still enjoyable. The connection between Nick and Angela is what I loved the most. Overall, I cannot wait for the next one and I hope it is about David!
I was gifted a copy of this novel from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review. The opinions and ratings are solely my own.
