From bestselling author R.L. Mathewson comes the long-awaited Neighbor from Hell Novel…
Irresistible.
There weren’t many things that Aidan regretted, but that night he’d spent with the woman that he couldn’t stop thinking about was definitely one of them. He’d always been careful, always did the right thing, and now…
Now he had to figure out a way to fix this before it was too late.
Melanie still couldn’t figure out how one night could change the rest of her life. She should have done a lot of things differently that night, she should have turned him down, should have spent the rest of the night wallowing in self-pity, but that’s not what happened and now, she needed to figure out how she was going to survive this pregnancy with a Bradford doing everything in his power to make her fall in love with him.
New York Times Bestselling author, R.L. Mathewson was born in Massachusetts. She’s known for her humor, quick wit and ability to write relatable characters. She currently has several paranormal and contemporary romance series published including the Neighbor from Hell series.
Growing up, R.L. Mathewson was a painfully shy bookworm. After high school she attended college, worked as a bellhop, fast food cook, and a museum worker until she decided to take an EMT course. Today, R.L. Mathewson is the single mother of two children that keep her on her toes. She has a bit of a romance novel addiction as well as a major hot chocolate addiction and on a perfect day, she combines the two.
In 2019/2020, R.L. Mathewson will be publishing Devastated, the first Anger Management novel, Tall, Dark & Furious, the 6th installment to the Pyte/Sentinel series, Irresistible, the long anticipated novel for the Neighbor from Hell Series as well as many more books throughout the year, paranormals, contemporaries, and YAs.

The heroine:Melanie - computer programmer who has a one night stand to help getting over the fact that her fiancée left her for her sister. She gets pregnant and is on bed rest for the first five months, so is just getting to telling the father.
The Hero(es):Aiden Bradford - a doctor who shares his practice with his father. He never wants children and after the condom broke, he told Melanie that in no uncertain terms.
The Love Story: Melanie can’t work while on bed rest so when Aiden says he will help by giving her an apartment, she can’t refuse. They go from strangers, to more while she eats her way through the town.
I loved many of the previous books and thought the schtick about the Bradford men always being hungry and able to eat enough for ten men was hilarious. However, in this book it was Melanie who was the foodie. And boy did she eat in this one. At first I thought it was because she was pregnant and carrying a Bradford boy, but she stays just as food obsessed after having the baby.
All I could think of is how much weight she would gain being on bed rest for 9 months and eating junk food non-stop throughout the entire thing. It wasn’t as cute or funny. I know with the Bradford men, it is a non-issue as I know how easy it is for guys to lose weight compared to women. It just seemed to me to be the main theme in this book, not just a side thing that pops up every now and then and made it funny.
Other than that, I liked the crazy Bradford family and thought that storyline was great. Even the storyline about Melanie’s sister was good. Though I just didn’t like it as much as the earlier books from this series. The narration was fine, though it was only one woman and no men. I tend to like it when the POV switches and there are multiple narrators.
The Bradford family formula is in place, and if you love that and the humor, this may be right up your alley. I have really enjoyed some of the earlier books, but I'd lost touch with this series, so picking it up again, it felt familiar and not necessarily in the best way. The food obsession is expected, the familial snarking and general smart-assery? That I like. But my issue is the lack of character development. The hero and heroine (Aidan and Melanie) are interchangeable with all the other characters in this series.
Now, there's a comfort in formula and for those who have enjoyed it and don't mind a bit of repetition, and some confusion with who's who (a graphic family tree would be incredibly helpful at this point), you may find something to please you. Otherwise, this was just ok for me.
I liked Aiden and Melanie's story, but I think Perfection and Fire & Brimstone are still my favorites of this series. I am actually looking forward to Devin and Charlie's story. I think Devin is the first Bradford with kids and it will be interesting to see how his story fits into the mix with these crazy Bradfords and their love of food.
it 's been so long that I completely forgot who was each brother. Does someone have a really quick recap with the name of each brother and his book/girl/occupation?
After reading...
I really couldn't manage to get invested in the story... I think this is the end of the series for me
We have been waiting for this book for a long time and I know the problems the author faced during this time so I understand why it took so long. But franckly I didn't find it that interesting...
Aiden and Melanie were OK. But I really didn't remember anything about Melanie's personnality from the previous book and in this one I found her really boring. The only thing noticeable about her is her obsession with food. It was a cute personnality trait before and we had some funny situations but here it took too much importance over the story. It was really too much to be funny anymore. Aiden was nothing special. There was nothing irresistible about him.
Concerning the side characters, I didn't remember Rebecca this way at all. Has her personnality totally changed or have I just forgotten everything? Concerning the other brothers and family, It has been too long for me so I was confused a lot of times trying to remember who was who (Roger, Kenzie, Devin, Duncan...who the hell are they again?????)
So for me it's just another average story. I was a fan on the beginning of the series but the 3 or 4 last books were nothing special so I'm done.
I LOVE the "secret baby" "accidentally pregnant" trope. Absolutely bonkers for it. This was okay... honestly I was the perfect target reader. Unfortunately, I just didn't feel the chemistry between the two characters. Everything just fell into place. The H & h just worked 🤷♀️... and the baby is what brought them together. Nothing crazy. Nothing inspiring. Missed R.L. Mathewson's humor. People are saying that the h's food addiction was too much. Going through my own pregnancy right now, I 100% disagree! Her hormones are crazy! Her cravings are crazy! Having never been a foodie and then suddenly being spastic for food, I can completely relate w/ the h. Leaver her alone... she's pregnant and hungry and her body isn't her own 🤪😉.
Sooooo!!!!!!! Excited for this like I just finished delectable and was reminded of how amazing the author's writing is and how much I love the Bradford family. Also I'm super excited for Jared's book
I was so happy to come back to this world ... I quickly got annoyed. The worst thing is the repetition of : absently/ thoughtful/ glaring/ bored and some other words. Every single chapters had them at least 3 or 4 times. I know it's supposed to be funny but it was just annoying and ... dumb (there i said it). English is not my first language, i actually just read it but rarely speak it yet it was that obvious and bothering. Also some parts didn't made any sense, it felt like you were coming in the middle of a conversation. Again i know it was done to make it funny or whatever but it really didn't. And the all book is a constant of all that. The story which could've been very good, lost it's shine and mostly emotions. Even the good parts felt a bit rubbed out, the feelings weren't there... So yeah i love the original recipe of this serie but not when it's a repeat of a repeat. Really disappointed... i'll try the next book anyway but just the teaser got me to cringe after reading ABSENTLY agaiiiiin.
I did read the first book in this series years ago and was not inspired to continue even though the story was interesting enough. The writing and editing just needs help! Well, as this is book 11 in the series, sadly the writing and editing still needs help! I now recall why I stopped... This story was not bad. It actually was fun and less tortured and less neighbor from hell-ish. I just realize I am not a fan of this author’s writing style. I’m uninspired to continue....although the next one sounds rather interesting 🧐 🤔 2.5 stars
When I was in Grade 12, I had a teacher who circled all of the times I used one certain phrase within a paper I wrote. It was an eye-opening experience and helped me improve my writing. I feel someone should do the same with Mathewson's books because she has a number of crutch words and phrases that quickly lose their comedic impact and instead become cringe-inducing. She used 'absently' at least once and up to six times in a chapter, characters murmur and mumble so often I don't know how they understand each other and I didn't realize you could sigh and do so many things sadly for apparent comedic effect. Aidan and Melanie were unremarkable and lacking in personality and chemistry. I hate saying this because I understand this was a difficult book to write and I hate dumping on people's creative efforts. On the upside, there were moments of humour and moments that really engaged me. Here's hoping for the next book.
Engagement factor off the charts and an awesomely hilarious read that I didn’t want to end.
R.L. Mathewson never fails to deliver when it comes to her writing. The visuals she gives as you anxiously turn pages will have you alternating between laughter and hunger (when she mentions all the yummy food) I’m up looking for snacks to accompany me while reading.
Her characters are engaging, fun, and sweet. The story and the continuity is flawless.
The Neighbors From Hell family is on my top three.
Safety - neither were with others during their five month separation. Before that he’s been celibate over a year and she only been with one other person. A tiny bit OW/OM drama in the form of her sister and her ex fiancé.
This is the one we have been waiting for...and it was okay.
Again...the jilted conversation and sentences/stories left untold are often funny, but I found it a bit OTT in this one.
Also...her "love of carbs" was one thing but eating that much sugar and crap could not have been good for her blood sugar! I had "morning sickness" for all 40 weeks generally 3-8 times a day. I learned to consume the "sacrificial" meal, puke up and then eat my meal. Also to never ever ever get actually hungry. But that amount of sugar would have sent me into the bathroom...carbs yes...like toast, pasta, potatoes, pasta...A friend a work was the same way. I just couldn't believe that a doctor would approve crap like twinkies or tastey cakes...yes to homemade pie and real muffins or stuff, but fake oil laden high glucose corn syrup shit...no way!!! Rant out...
Lucifer is still my favourite!!! I need him to re-arrange my kitchen!
R.L. Was one of the first romance authors I read. I love the spunk of her characters, and the stories are cute. Unfortunately, for me anyway, this series is becoming redundant. I don’t think I will be picking up another one...though this isn’t the first time I’ve said that, and each time I allow myself to get sucked back in, I feel the same afterward... I wish I remembered I said I was out.
I always enjoy reading Mathewson novels. This is complete fluff but enjoyable fluff. The only issue for me is that after a lot of this series the funny bits are very repetitive. I’ve maybe had enough of the Bradfords I’m sad to say. Also reading Bradford books make me unsurprisingly very hungry!
Another five star book for this amazing author! I loved the way Aidens story came together, and he was worth the wait. No ARC or favors here (although knowing how great this author is, I would have killed for an ARC). She does so many things write that these other authors aren’t. Her characters like sex ( and are pretty awesome at it, go RL) but they aren’t sluttly, and she doesn’t spend the whole story blathering about other men or women. She has the creativity and originality to create a real story between these two people. I have yet to read a bad book, and I’m impatiently waiting for the next book. I know this author prefers bad reviews and is waiting to hear how much she sucks, but I just can’t do it. I cannot tell a lie.
Aidan and Melanie had a one night stand six months ago when a condom broke. Result : Melanie is very pregnant and her pregnancy is a high-risk one. For that reason she has ask her doctor not to tell Aidan anything yet. She believes that Aiden hates her, judging him for his awful behavior the next morning after the night they shared together... Aidan doesn't want kids and but once he found out that he will be a father in less than three months his behavior changed. The problem is that they are going to be parents but they don't really know each other. And If Aidan wants his kid to has both his/her parents he must find a way to her heart...
Easy funny reading as the most books of the Bradford family series!
I've been looking forward to Aiden and Melanie's story after reading Fire & Brimstone. I really enjoyed their chemistry and the rest of the Bradford clan was also present and it's always a blast to see them all together but this series is getting stale and repetitive. The author needs to change the narrative style all the sighing and murmuring and glaring is getting boring.
Our hero and heroine have a drunk one night stand, after which they fight as the condom breaks and the heroine leaves. Six month later, she re-enters his life heavily pregnant, only for him to freak out and coerce her to move in with him. She is well aware of how he did not want the baby, and the first half of the book had zero chemistry between the leads. They were forced to co-habitate, with both awkwardly trying to live together. The book picks up in the second half, even then there is little romance but we end on a HEA.
I have to say this is one of my all time favorite series but I did not feel this book at all. There was little humor, and the only time I laughed was when Jason and Haley showed up.
I think it’s time for me to bow out of this series. We’re 11 books in and it feels like characters from all the previous books were referenced at some point, which I get because they’re family, but I also felt was unnecessary because there are so. many. characters. Plus, I haven’t read all of the books in this series (some descriptions appealed to me more than others).
In addition to having to search my memory every time a previous character was mentioned, there were multiple spots where I was just confused (wasn’t sure who was saying something or why they were saying it...the author seemed to be teeing up the next book; there were sentences that were far too long to follow).
I was also pretty bored for most of this book and concerned about gestational diabetes.
This was not worth the 2 year wait it took to write this book. I loved all the other books in the series, but this one was just plain boring. I took so many breaks while reading this and I was glad it was over. The main characters have no connection at all, which is a must in my opinion. That’s why I had a hard time connecting with the story. They would have worked better as co parents and friends. I never feel this way but at some point I didn’t even want them to have a happy ending together. The story was very choppy. I laughed in all the other books, this one was not even a little funny but tried so so so hard to be. I liked all the side characters, so that’s why I still gave the book two stars. So sad.... I hope the next one is better! And it does not make me wait 2 years to be released.
I was looking forward to Aiden’s story... it was decent but could have had more depth to the characters and their intersections. Not a lot really happened. I also don’t think this would work as a standalone. Unless you’ve read other books in the series you’d have no idea why Melanie was eating so much for example. Lots of references to other Bradfords that were randomly placed as well. Not sure I’d recommend this to new readers but as a fan of the series I had to give it a go.
Melanie knows she needs to tell Aidan about the baby she is carrying, but she can't forget the one night stand they had that ended up a disaster. Aidan finds out about it and decides he wants to be a full time father, even though it scares him senseless. Now he has his family upset with him but Melanie is starting to trust him and she may even begin to like him. Can Aidan convince Melanie to give him a do over with a new baby on the way.
Loved loved loved. I especially enjoyed Lucifer's involvement he is hilarious. Liked Melanie and I had been anxious to read what really happened that night when their characters were introduced. Excellent read, will definitely reread again and again.
#11 in the Neighbor from Hell humorous romance series
As with all of the books in this series, the characters are very appealing but often outrageous. I love Aiden Bradford--a doctor who works with his father. He's always been a playboy, not interested in children, but he and Melanie (Rebecca's friend--Lucifer's wife) get together once and ... When Melanie gets over her intense morning sickness and finally tells Aiden about the baby, he's upset, but then he starts to like the idea, like Melanie, and really take his responsibilities to heart. So cute, especially when Melanie resists and they spend a lot of time arguing. His brothers get involved, Rebecca gets in between them, and Melanie's ex-boyfriend decides he wants her back (instead of being involved with Melanie's sister Caitlin, who stole him from her). With Melanie being voraciously hungry like all Bradfords, things often get "ugly." Very cute, somewhat repetitious from previous books, but since it's been a while since I've enjoyed one, then it was OK for me. I will definitely finish up the last couple of books in this series sooner rather than later.
