Fall in love with a rock star. I sure did with Nick, the last man standing from the Oblivion gang.

The ever contrary and incorrigible Nick Crandall, Oblivion’s lead guitarist, lost everything that ever mattered to him in the course of a few hours. His band is in shambles after Simon’s very public and violent breakdown and his heart has been Shattered by the only woman he’s ever let into his life.
“Bit by bit, it shattered beneath Nick’s feet. A tremble became an earthquacke, then an implosion.”

Simon, his best friend and brother in all the ways that matter has had vocal cord problems, but there’s no reason Nick should shoulder the blame, but Simon is shooting death glares his direction anyway. And what could possibly have happened between the rehearsal which Nick happily shared with his bandmates and Lila and the private concert a few hours after where she broke things off with him? He can either wallow in self-pity or fight for what he wants and loves.
“She was the f*ck!ing sun, and without her, he couldn’t breathe.”

I’ve been happily following the Oblivion series from the very beginning. Laughing, hurting, swooning and fanning myself with each and every couple while also completely falling for Cari and Taryn’s skillful writing and ability bring out so much emotion.

Fused is novella #4.5 in the series by this dynamic duo and picks up right where Shattered left off after Nick’s worst night ever. Knowing Lila isn’t a free woman Nick is willing to wait and fight for her and I loved him that much more while hated how much he felt underserving of anything, not love, not success for his band, not family. So it was with patient determination on Nick’s part but eager anxiousness on mine that I devoured page after page of this short story. It irked me that Lila wouldn’t communicate with him and adored his persistence.
“I’m breathing you in,” he murmured. “See, you’ve told me I can’t have you anymore. I can’t touch,” he ghosted his fingertips along the damp side of her neck, just avoiding contact, “can’t taste… but I can smell you. I can look until I’m so hard I can’t walk. And I can remember.”

If I hadn’t fallen for him before I flat out and fell for him in this story. I enjoyed how he reconnected with his sister. It seemed he was due for some happy family moments. And even without being sure he was in love with Lila, he knew he need her but I was absolutely charmed with his adorably cute cluelessness regarding it.
“Is there some kind of test you can take to verify if you’re in love with someone?”

Having past characters you cared about is always a perk so while I had already read the Christmas section (Gifted #4.2) I loved re-reading it in the full context and getting glimpses of the other Oblivion band members and their expanding families, especially seeing them through Nick’s eyes.
“He loved the smelly, often whiny babies, and he supposed he sort of loved their parent too. In his own manly don’t –really-give-two-shits sort of way.”

Although there wasn’t a lot of music going on in the Oblivion camp, this is still a rock romance and there were other music related moments I enjoyed. Secondary characters which perhaps will be part of a spinoff series were introduced in the form of Lila’s stepson and Nick’s twin sister.

And finally, finally, even though Oblivion has taken a hiatus from creating and performing music, Lila and Nick have found their path towards happiness. There’s still one more book coming out in this series. It’ll be bitter sweet for me because I do want all of them to have all their dreams come true but I also find it hard to part with series I’ve come to enjoy so much.

3.5 stars. This is a continuation of Nick and Lila and let me forewarn that unless they've since updated the versions they have for sale, the version I have left everything open ended. No real resolution to their current situation. I did get my hands on an epilogue that tied the loose ends directly from the authors, but I'm not sure how or if they are still making that available. I didn't really feel this part really progressed much plot-wise except maybe some in their relationship. The whole Simon thing seems to be glossed over and everything just seems to be falling apart which I suppose does make me want to get the next book to find out how it all wraps up. Nick has been a pleasant surprise for me as he was not my favorite going into this series (I'm a Gray girl all the way). He has shown significant growth and depth. Lila is a good fit for him though I'm glad she will finally resolve her situation to be with him. All in all a good read. Re: the bonus separate epilogue... very important parts got mentioned as an afterthought. At that point I realize they were trying to capture all the things that needed to be wrapped up but it felt rushed. Safety: Although there are no OW/OM for either, No rape or abuse.

Another fabulous book by the indomitable duo of Cari Quinn/Taryn Elliott.

The beginning of this book is darker and more raw than the others of this series and it works perfectly for the setup of what's to follow. The story line has everything from funny to tear worthy, incredible sex to heartrenching moments.

The only part of the book that I hated.... there's only one more book in this series and these characters I've come to adore and feel as if I know will be gone from my life, even if they do make appearances in future books about different rockers. I've been in love with these people since Seduced and will forever claim Deacon as mine (even if Harper got him).

Received book in exchange for honest review.

The perfection of FUSED made being dropped off a cliff at the end of Shattered absolutely worth every minute of the painful wait. This story immediately grabbed hold of me and sucked me in until the very last word. The feels for Lila, Nick, and the band as a whole are indescribable. I’m reeling from a total book hangover and trying to talk myself out of immediately starting over at the beginning.

I loved every minute of this book. It was riveting, emotional, funny, sexy, and heartwarming. Everything and more that makes up a 5+ star read.

The Lost in Oblivion series has gotten exponentially better with each book. Knowing there’s only one more left to wrap up the series is heartbreaking. After watching these characters grow with each story, they’ve burrowed into my heart like family. Saying good-bye is going to be difficult.

If you haven’t read the series yet, I urge you to do so now.

Fused is part of a series and right toward the end of it too, so make sure you read the others before you dive in. Sooooo worth it to read the whole Lost in Oblivion series. Start at Seduced and rock your way into Oblivion!

Nick & Lila...so good together. He pushes her limits and she pushes his. And wow is there lots of pushing this go around....and not only between Lila and Nick. Simon is pushing buttons all over the place and rocking the Oblivion boat. Happily the other couples in the band are continuing to grow and love and expand their horizons. Nick is amazing and continues to pull out the asshat card when needed in Fused. Can't believe the journey for this series is almost over but am very much looking forward to book 5!

Every time I tell myself I'm not going to let Cari and Taryn make me cry and every time I make a liar out of myself. Fused picks up where Shattered left off and we see guitarist Nick Crandall's life unraveling even more. His best friend is hurting, his band is falling apart and the woman he wants in his life is running again and to be honest Nick is at the end of his rope. My heart hurt for this man who wants nothing more than to have a person in his life that gets him, that wants him and that loves him for HIM, not for what he can do for them.

The Lost in Oblivion series is not for the faint of heart and this series is not a sprint, it is a marathon with these two authors wrapping their readers up in the lives, trials and tribulations of the band members. I was also pleasantly surprised by what seems to be a spin-off series waiting to happen, but I won't lie and say that I really need Oblivion back; the Oblivion that finally made it to the big time, the Oblivion that rocked our world and the Oblivion that made me fall in love with each and every member of the band plus their significant others.

I enjoyed seeing how everyone in the band is getting on, the things they are working on, the way their relationships and lives are playing out, BUT I need the music. I need to know that after everything they've been through it was worth it and they are once again a cohesive unit making the music they love.

So, Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott throw this roadie a bone and please make it all good again. Much love from your fan from the start!

Warning... mild spoilers ahead

FUSED picks up immediately after the end of the last book, SHATTERED. Remember? Simon's voice? The concert that probably should not have been? If you didn't read SHATTERED yet, you should read it before FUSED. As usual, Cari and Taryn dig deep into their characters, exposing

Anyway, Nick and Lila have their challenges. Nick may act like a petulant child, but all he needs is a little help. Lila runs hot and cold, though she has reason to be a bit of a wreck -- namely her jerk of a soon-to-be-ex husband. The two are perfect for each other, in that they can heal one another as they grow together as a couple. Sure there are trust issues, but there is also love, and love conquers all.

Cari and Taryn leave us with another cliff hanger, though with only one story left in the series (#cry) the wrap up can only answer the outstanding questions in their usual fantastic way:

Did Lila's husband really sign the divorce papers?
Did Simon really just walk away from the band?
Can Nick be what Lila needs?

Knowing the authors' work, I'm sure I know the answers, but I can't wait to read for myself! OWNED is due out in March, 2016.

Brilliant, sexy, funny and completely consuming. The Oblivion series is like nothing I have read before. Each band member has their own story but at the same time all the band members stories continue in each others books. A family of Rockstars! It's like the story just keeps unfolding. I love it. Epic.

Fused is Nick and Lila's story. They continue to push each other and have a rocky road on their journey but they keep finding their way back to one another. I especially like the change of POV throughout the book. Reading both sides of the story just sucks you in deeper and brings all the emotions the characters are feeling to the surface.

Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliot know how to bring Rockstars to their readers. All the arrogance, cockiness and panting melting sexiness entangled in a roller coaster of emotions with happy lifts, stomach dropping pain and spins that shoot you right over the romance ledge.

I'm always waiting for their next book!

Nick's band, Oblivion, has hit a rough patch and so has his love life. He's having trouble getting to the bottom of the causes since the responsible parties aren't being very forthcoming. What I love about this series in particular is that you get to know the members of the band during their humble beginning. The whole band and their significant others whose they've acquired during the way. So, the series is sexy and funny, but also gives you a chance to get to know the characters in a more complete way, since we've been along for the ride since things really started happening for them, personally and professionally. "Fused" is 4.5 in the Lost in Oblivion Series, with "Gifted," 4.2 in the series, included as a bonus at the end.

This book picks up right after the end of SHATTERED, where things didn't go so well for the band's "comeback concert", and Lila was given pictures that can end everything she's been working toward. She decides that it's time to stop seeing Nick, before he ruins the divorce that she is desperate to have finalized.

From there, the hits keep coming. Is this the end of Oblivion, as well as the end of what could've been between Nick & Lila?

I have to admit that there were quite a few times I wanted to toss my kindle, and slap a certain member of the band. I really hope they get it together in the next (and final) book, or I might just cry. LOL

Fused, the second part of Nick and Lila's story, picks up exactly where Shattered left off. You MUST read Shattered prior to reading this book! Although you are able to jump into this one without it, you really should to read ALL of the Lost in Oblivion books prior to Fused in order to really enjoy the story fully (and besides, the entire series is amazeballs!!!!). With Oblivion on the verge of imploding, Nick feels like he's losing everything when both his band and the woman he now realizes he loves leaves him. Nick and Lila have explosive chemistry but with so many obstacles working against them, they need to fight for what they want. The reader can really feel the emotions of the characters in Fused, experiencing theirs highs and lows right along with them. Nick has such a tough exterior but underneath lies a man who is loves deeply despite his emotionally scarred upbringing. He loves his best friend, Simon, unconditionally even when Simon turns his back on him. He doesn't give up on his friendship and fights for it. The same goes for his love for Lila---he will not give up on her and will wait as long as it takes. Lila's baggage continue to get in the way but as the book progresses, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Their shared love for one another is the glue that will forever bind them together. As with all other LIO books, Fused has a cliffhanger so be prepared to jump right into Owned, the final LIO book, as soon as you are done reading (at the time of this review, Owned was not out yet leaving me ready to pull my hair out---argh!). Fused is a great read---it's fast paced and a roller coaster of ups and downs for the characters that grabs you from the start and won't let go until the last page. Thank you Cari and Taryn for another great book in one of my all-time favorite series!

I love the Oblivion boys, and everything that these two beauties write. Fused definitely didn't end like I thought it would. We were led to believe this was the last Oblivion book, but its not. I wouldn't say that it ended in a cliffhanger, but it didn't end all wrapped up with a bow either.

Things don't look good for Oblivion, Simon still can't perform, and his relationship with the band isn't at its best. Nick is left to wonder what he would do if the band was no more, all his other bandmates have something to fall back on. On top of that, his relationship with Lila is at a standstill. All this is leaving Nick alone, and very much confused.

We definitely get to see a more vulnerable side to Nick in Fused. Lila is also confused about her relationship with Nick, when she receives some pictures of not only her and Nick, but of Nick with another woman, she knows she has to cool it with Nick until her divorce is final and then she will hear him out about the other women. But when it comes to love and the white hot chemistry that Nick and Lila have, she finds it hard to stay away.

When a band meeting doesn't end very well, Nick is left devasted and Lila doesn't think twice about running after him. She wants to be there for him, no matter the cost. And here is about where we leave off, with promises of more Oblivion, told from Nick and Simon. I'm excited we get more and I'm hoping that Nick and Lila's story will wrap up a little more. You can never go wrong with a Lost in Oblivion book and Fused is no exception.

Fused, Lost in Oblivion 4.5 picks up from Shattered, almost straight away. It's heart wrenching as it seems that Oblivion, the band is reaching the end of the road. Simon has voice troubles & isn't coping well - in fact he's pushing everyone away, especially Nick, who is so confused because he has no idea why! Nick is also confused by Lila's behaviour towards him. After they returned from their time at her parent's, they were a couple, wholly each other's - but not now. She's shut down on him & again, he doesn't know why.
Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott write angst driven prose with deft hands & beautifully controlled emotion. I knew why Lila was shutting down on Nick, but really didn't understand how she was so easily swayed to believe the worst of him. It disappointed me that Lila was so shallow to allow what she assumed to be fact, sway her feelings & attitude toward Nick but she eventually came through for him, albeit briefly. If you think that I'm writing in riddles, then you'll have to read this book - thankfully, it's not the last of the Oblivion crew. There is, in my mind, so much more to come with this group. They maybe paired up, or close to it, but there is the future to contend with. I trust that CAri & Taryn will follow through. I received an ARC from the authors in exchange for an honest review & I honestly hung on every word. You will too...

I received an ARC for an honest opinion.

I love all of Cari and Taryn's books. The Oblivion series keeps getting better and better with each installment. Nick and Lila sure have some hurdles to jump in their relationship and I'm glad most of them are resolved in this installment. Nick is such an intense character. I'm glad we get to see into his head and what he is actually feeling behind his stoney mask and harsh words. You wouldn't expect him to be as sensitive as he is, it's a nice realization.

I'm really looking forward to the last book in the series, Owned, and I'm excited to see that it'll be in Nick and Simon's POV. It'll be nice to have closure for the band since they are in a precarious position at the moment. I'm not usually a fan of cliff hangers but Cari and Taryn write theirs in a way that keeps you wanting more. I can't wait till March!

Just WOW! Just when you think that Taryn and Cari have given you everything, they give you more. This book just hits the ground running and you won't be able to put it down. It picks up right where Shattered left off.
You feel the pain of Lila being caught between her husband who isn't interested in her and Nick, who's totally fallen for. You also feel the pain of Lila trying to do her job and please her boss.
Then there's Nick. His whole world focuses on Oblivion and now Lila's a huge part of his mind. My heart was breaking for him at the post Christmas meeting. You really see a broken man who loves and seeks true love and loyalty from his friends. Will he ever get these? This is an amazing series and I'm sad to see it coming to an end. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens to Nick and Oblivion.

Despite having read this series numerous times, I had forgotten that it didn't end the way I expected it to and there was one more book to wrap things up. ACCCKKK! From the first time I read Fused until this reading, I always get that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach even knowing now that it will all work out, but during the scenes where Nick and Simon are so far apart, where they are beating each other up with fists and words, I feel sick because it's hard to imagine them ever getting back to the magic this band once hand. That's great writing and this duo hooked me on this series from the prequel. Every couple has had their ups and downs in this series but honestly, Nick suffered so much in so many ways. There were so many times in the last two books were I felt his aloneness and it was crushing, but he also perservered and he knew that he'd give Lila time or whatever she needed because he was postive they were meant to be.

Another tortured installment in the series

Today is the 24th anniversary of my father's death. How apropos that I have finished this book today. (You'll learn why.)

This story is just covered in a layer of dust and ash. It's hard on the emotions. A stagnant puddle in the road. Standing still waiting for time to pass. Such is this season of life in community with others.

I'm ready for more weddings and children!

It may be a rough time to bear, but we'll worth the read regardless.

I can't believe Simon would dump his brother like that. He should have told his family how he's feeling instead of keeping everything all bottled up. I think he has a psychological issue with Becoming and that is only going to get worse if he seeks professional help. If it were me I would tell him he needs to get professional help before letting him get back up on the stage. It's called tough love. Also, I'm scared Nick's sister is going to let him down. I just hope it doesn't happen on the rise back to the top.

Give me more Nick and Lila! OMG! I would read their story over and over again. I LOVE this duo. I LOVE how it started as nothing more than manger-guitarist and slowly evolved into lovers. This is the conclusion to their story.

Kai and Wen as Lila and Nick are perfect. I know they've narrated the entire series and I do love them, but I feel like there is more chemistry here. Maybe it's the way the characters are written, maybe it's just because Kai and Wen bring sparks to the narrating table. Either way, you need to listen and/or read this series.

I can't wait to see where this couple goes and what Lila does with the new band she's putting together. I know it's going to Rock!

A sweet and satisfying instalment of Lila and Nick's story. The cliffhanger to the 4th book is answered and the couple are well on the way to their HEA, even if the band is not. I can't wait to see what the deal is with Simon. The authors definitely have two brilliant minds!

Just keeps getting better and thank god nick pulls his big boy pants up, and down. Real mess of a situation with the band and the budding relationship that takes some working out. The light is at the end of the tunnel and Lila is worth everything nick needs to do.

Fused picks right up where Shattered ended. Nick is in a tailspin not knowing where he will land. His band is in shambles and the futures is unknown. His best friends is hurting and Nick can't seem to help even though he tries. Finally the woman he loves is on the run away from him. While I am not a fan of Nick's, I do feel so bad for him and wished everyone would stop crapping on his generosity.

Fused wraps up all the love stories for the group Oblivion. We have seen this group come from the beginnings of their first tour, to the heights of their own tour and album, to devastating loss with Simon losing his voice.  This group has felt betrayal, hope and loss. And I have had the honor of following along as a groupie with each of them through it all.

In Quinn/Elliott style, the story unfolds organically with real life concerns for the future. There is still a lot to resolve and while this story ends, Oblivion's story is still unresolved. I fell in love with characters I didn't think had redeeming values and grew to be more tolerant of personalities that rubbed me wrong. Their stories captivated me and now hold me prisoner waiting for each new book.

Fused is no different. Nick must learn to bend more than anyone should. He just wants to be loved and accepted for who he is, not what he can get someone. While set for life money wise, he doesn't live like a typical rockstar, but he would give his shirt off his back to someone in need. Music is where he goes for solace, but even that is being denied to him. The one woman who can make him whole has her own concerns keeping her from him.

Lila is getting her divorce, but she has desires and dreams she is not sure she can give up...and they don't always agree with Nick. She wants love, babies and family. Her job is on the line and the boss isn't all to happy about her relationship with Nick. Lila's downfall is how she locks all her emotions tightly within her head.

There is a hint of a spin off .... well, I can confirm it isn't a hint since I read the first book in that spin off as well. You get to see some of the Oblivion characters in other books, because they are intertwined with family, managers and co-workers. I am so glad this isn't ending for me. I need my rockers!

The story evoked deep emotions of a love that can't be denied, a man who wants to make his woman happy and a woman who just wants to be loved. Fused is a good addition to the Oblivion story, but it isn't the end for the band, they still have a lot of work and page time for me to enjoy.

SUMMARY
The music died.
Nick, stands on stage surrounded by silence and his bandmates. The concert was for a group of music bigwigs, not fans, not that didn't make a difference. They'd been playing and now they were not.
Because of Simon, his best friend.
The man falling apart right in front of him.
Nick touched his arm, and Simon snapped back to life. He shoved at Nick, and if Nick hadn't planted his feet, he would of gone flying. What he couldn't prepared for was the fury that cracked through Simon's mask. Directed at him.
"You did this." Simon rasped. "Never could stop pushing. Always f**king pushing at me."
Nick was too shocked to speak.
"Simon-"
"No. I don't even want to hear your f**king voice. You caused this." Simon reared back and kicked out at an amp, his boot cracking the facade.
Nick hadn't expected this. Or that he would be held responsible.
Nick glanced back at his bandmates. He'd seen it all before. They all had, since Simon's vocal issues last summer that had explosively ended a big show and then cut short their summer tour. They all looked unhappy....resigned.
But Nick hadn't expected this. Or that he would be held responsible.
That he would be standing by himself when everything collapsed around him. They all had someone. Simon and Margo, Gray and Jazz, Deak and Harper, their chef. All had other lives. Other loves.
Desperately, he sought Lila in the crowd. He wasn't alone.
Goddammit, they were f**king together.
His gaze found Lila's in the crowd, and relief crowded out the panic and misery. For a moment, he could breathe around the hard ball expanding in his chest, making room in between his organs. Forcing out anything good, any pleasure.
In one glance, she gave all of that back to him. And more. So much more.
Then she turned away from him. Frantically, he tried to keep her in sight, seeking her in the midst of the restless, surging audience. But she blended into the crowd, the spotlight bouncing over her pale blond hair before casting the spot she'd just occupied in darkness....
-----
The story started, with a recap of Simon having vocal problems, when they perform in front of the bigwigs and music media, that was in Shattered. Simon is full of rage and directs it at Nick. Blaming him for his vocal problems.
Nick turns to Lila, to get comfort and confirm that she's there for him, outside of the band. He catches sight of her, she looks at him then turns and disappears in the crowd.

I thought the story was great and loved reading it. There is some really hawt sex and Lila and Nick, make it really steamy when they come together. As we already know they love each other.
There appears to be a cliffhanger at the end of Fused.
There is a bonus story of "Gifted."
I am so captivated with these two authors. They can throw you into a story with, what seems to be, little effort. Don't get me wrong, I adore these authors, I've been reading them since Feb, 2014, when I purchased my 1st, LiO and Shadowboxer.

REVIEW: FUSED is #4.5 and second to last installment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult LOST IN OBLIVION erotic, romance series focusing on the member of the rock band OBLIVION. FUSED picks up immediately following the events of SHATTERED, and crosses over into the Christmas novella GIFTED.

NOTE: If you have not read the previous SHATTERED, my review may contain some spoilers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Nick and Lila) FUSED is the continuing story of Nick and Lila’s relationship, and the beginning of the end for the band OBLIVION. Lead singer Simon Kagan continues to have issues with his voice, and he targets his best friend Nick Crandall following Simon’s latest melt down on stage that saw Simon storm out and Nick taking the brunt of Simon’s emotional tirade. What ensues are Lila’s attempts to keep the band together while setting up the possibility of a new band on the horizon.

The relationship between Nick and Lila continues to be tempestuous. Nick is a man in love with a woman whose secrets and personal life keep falling off the rails. Lila is determined to prove that she is capable of keeping her public and private life separate but pushing Nick away is the hardest thing she will ever have to do.

All of the members of OBLIVION play secondary and supporting roles. While Simon continues to wallow is self doubt and the blame game, the remaining members of the band decide it may be time to think about a different kind of future-without the band.

FUSED is an emotional story line where lifelong friendships are threatened by jealousy, insecurity, and the mental and physical health of Oblivion’s leading singer. The premise is revealing and intense; the characters are passionate, tormented and heartbreaking; the romance is provocative and seductive. FUSED is a free fall of emotions for both the reader and the characters we love.
