Gansett Island Boxed Set Books 7-9

Rate this book
With more than 2 million ebooks sold since Maid for Love debuted in 2011, the New York Times bestselling Gansett Island Series has become one of the most beloved romance series available today. Read three books in the series: Longing for Love, Waiting for Love and Time for Love in this special offering.

Book 7: Longing for Love
Series favorite Tiffany Sturgil steals the spotlight in Longing for Love as her new boutique Naughty & Nice opens in downtown Gansett, right in time for the annual spring Race Week festivities. Finally divorced and ready for a new beginning, Tiffany wonders if sexy Police Chief Blaine Taylor thinks of her as often as she thinks of him since their explosive encounter last fall.

Blaine has been burned in the past by love affairs gone wrong, and he's wary about risking too much too soon. But he quickly discovers that Tiffany's sarcastic rejoinders and bitter outer shell hide a badly wounded heart of gold. He also discovers she's a "sex-toy fraud" and convinces her she can't possibly sell the merchandise without trying it out first...

Book 8: Waiting for Love
Sometimes the best offense is a good rebound...

Adam McCarthy has had a really bad week. What he needs is a few days at home on Gansett Island to make sure his beloved brothers are safe and to get back in touch with what really matters—his family, his friends and the tiny island that soothes his battered soul. On the ferry ride home, he runs into an old family friend who's had her own share of heartache, and Adam helps her through some rough moments, sparking an unlikely alliance.

Abby Callahan has come home to Gansett, single once again after her relationship with Dr. Cal Maitland blows up in her face. After two epic failures in the game of love, she's decided this is going to be the summer she busts loose and finally has some fun—and she's shaking things up in a big way! The new Abby swears, drinks, gets a tattoo, sleeps around and generally does anything her kinder, gentler alter ego wouldn't have dreamed of doing.

Before too long, Adam has appointed himself her guardian and is determined that the only sleeping around she's doing is with him. Does she have it in her to find out if the third time really is the charm?

Book 9: Time for Love
Dr. David Lawrence has spent the last two years atoning for his sins and recovering from the devastating breakup with Gansett Island golden girl Janey McCarthy. As the island's only doctor, he's had ample opportunity to show his fellow island residents that there's more to him than the guy who disappointed Janey so profoundly. Now if only he could find a way to forgive himself, he might be able to move on with his life without the woman he'd expected to love forever...

Daisy Babson, probationary director of housekeeping at McCarthy's Gansett Island Inn, is in bad need of a fresh start after her relationship with Truck Henry took a violent turn, leaving her battered and broken—in more ways than one. As she recovers from her injuries, her days are made brighter by her visits with David Lawrence. The kind and caring doctor who tended to her after the attack has become much more than a friend to her in recent weeks.

Will these two wounded hearts take comfort from one another and move forward on a new path toward love together? Or will ghosts from the past derail them before they get the chance for their own happily ever after?

Three times the fun

I love it when book series has these boxed sets or volumes. It is so easy to read one book after the other and stay in the world that the author has created...and let me tell you Gansett Island is a fantastic world. This whole series is fun, but these three stories had my emotions going every which way for this family and community. Great characters and emotional moments. Can’t wait to keep reading this series!

If you’re new to this series I strongly recommend you go back and begin it from the start with Maid for Love. Marie Force does her best to make each new book in this series a standalone but she does such a wonderful job of bringing characters from her previous books in this series forward and continuing their stories in future books that IMHO you really need to read the books in order to fully enjoy each one.
Longing for Love
This is primarily the story of divorced, single mom Tiffany Chester-Sturgill and Gansett Island Chief of Police Blaine Taylor falling in love. But as with all the most recent books in this series there’s plenty more. New characters are falling in love. Existing couples are dealing with bumps in the road in their relationships etc. This series is sort of like a long running television romance drama with an ensemble cast only with a whole lot more sexy than you’ll find on network television. If you’ve read the earlier six books in this series like me I’m sure you’ll find this one a page turner from start to finish.
Our female protagonist Tiffany Sturgill has been a regularly appearing secondary character in this series from its inception as the two years younger sister of Maddie Chester now Maddie McCarthy. From the very beginning we learned that Tiffany has been struggling with marriage problems of her husband Jim’s making. As the series has progressed those troubles have only increased to the point that by the last book in this series Jim has filed for divorce and moved out of their house taking all the furniture except Tiffany’s and their daughter Ashleigh’s beds with him. We also learn that Tiffany worked two jobs to putt Jim through law school only to have him want to cut her loose as soon as he sets up practice as the only attorney on the island where they grew up and starts making real money. Having grown up without a father Tiffany is still desperately hoping to keep her marriage in one piece for their daughter’s sake. After a desperate, if hysterically funny last ditch attempt to keep her marriage together in which Jim quickly disabuses her of that idea and she moves ahead with the divorce. Earlier in this series Tiffany met Police Chief Blaine Taylor at a friend’s party. The spark between them could have set the room on fire. Months later after her last-ditch attempt to fix her marriage fails spectacularly Blaine after arresting her, gives her a ride home. They have a brief explosive sexual encounter in her kitchen after which Blaine tells Tiffany to call him the second her divorce is final. Not only is Tiffany’s love life a mess but in an attempt to fulfill a lifelong dream and find a way to support herself and her daughter, she’s opening a very controversial (for Gansett Island) business on Main St. selling sexy lingerie and sex toys which upsets some of the town’s more stogey citizens. The mayor his boss wants Blaine to try and shut her new business down. Tiffany’s biggest issue is that with her father abandoning her and her sister and mother when she was only 3 years old never to be heard from until 30 years later, and her soon to be ex-husband abandoning her after she did everything she could to support him and his career, she has serious abandonment issues. Like Blaine she enters into a steamy, mildly kinky (think handcuffs, blindfolds and vibrators) sexual fling afraid to want it to be more.
Besides Tiffany’s new business and the way she attempt to promote it putting him at odds with the his boss the mayor, Blaine has his own relationship baggage after two failed relationships where the women took advantage of him. One costing him his job. Which his shrew of a mother seems to never want him to forget. Her voice in his head reminding Blaine of what happened when he tried to help women she calls projects causes him to try and keep his heart out of his attraction to Tiffany while other parts of his body are involved.
In this story we also continue the saga of Maddie and Tiffany’s absentee father Bobby Chester refusing to give their mom Francine a divorce so she can marry Ned unless Maddie agrees to meet with him. Mac is furious when his wife agrees to meet with him in order to facilitate her mother getting her divorce fearing the emotional damage it could cause her. There’s a continuation of the saga of the age gap romance between 56 year old Carolina Cantrell and Seamus her son Joe’s most trusted employee who at 38 is only two years older than Joe. Stephanie is working like a maniac trying to run the McCarthy Marina restaurant and open her own Stephanie’s Bistro in the Surf and Sand hotel. Stephanie’s insecurities and Grant’s cluelessness when it comes to relationships signals potential future problems between them. Grace’s parents make a surprise visit causing problems between her and Evan. Grant’s good friend, nationally prominent defense attorney Dan Torrington attempts to woo a reluctant Kara whom we met in the previous book. Owen’s mother Sharon who is finally divorcing her abusive husband a retired Air Force general, shares an attraction with Stephanie’s step father Charlie who has been released from prison after serving 14 years for wrongly being convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting Stephanie. Sharon also shares her story of domestic abuse with Daisy, a young woman whom we met in the first book as Maddie’s co-worker and BFF. We learn that although Janey did catch her fiancée Doctor David Lawrence having sex with another woman, she did have misconceptions about his feelings for her. It looks like Dr. Lawrence is headed for love with Daisy. Laura and Owen’s wedding date is quickly approaching. She worries about her now single brother Shane, who is helping her and Owen restore the hotel, but struggling to get over his divorce from his drug addicted ex-wife. Jenny the lighthouse keeper with the Ivy League post graduate degree whose fiancée was killed on 9/11 shows up as a good friend of the girls but like Shane the author doesn’t tip her hand as to whom their romantic interests will be.
Waiting for Love
This is the story of how Adam McCarthy, a computer whiz kid, the last of the McCarthy siblings to fall in love ends up in love with Abby Callahan, his older brother Grant’s long time ex-girlfriend. Ironically the last time we saw Abby she was closing Abby’s Attic her successful business on the island to follow Cal, her doctor fiancée to Texas where he’s returned to care for his ailing mother. It’s ironic because one of the things that led to her breakup with Grant after being with him for a decade, living with him for five of those years was his refusal to leave L.A. to return to Gansett Island with her which she was convinced was the only place she could live happily. Yet she closed up her successful business Abby’s Attic to follow Cal to Texas. Poor Abby who really is a sweetheart has now twice given her heart and most of her twenties to the wrong man. Is it any wonder she’s given up on love? After her broken engagement with Cal Abby is returning home to Gansett Island to try and put the pieces of her shattered life together. Adam is returning to Gansett Island after Sasha his girlfriend and business partner threw him under the bus to save her position, forcing him out of the company he founded. Which is how these two run into each other on the ferry and commiserate about their misfortunes. As much as this is a story of how Adam and Abby fall in love much of the early part of this book is devoted to the impact the near fatal boating accident that nearly killed three of the four McCarthy brothers has on them and those who love them. While all the McCarthys and their significant others are affected it is Grant who seems to be struggling the most. It isn’t until much later in the story that the author really begins to focus on Adam and Abby. Owen and Laura have a shocking discovery. Dan Torrington’s (the only boater who suffered serious physical injuries) and Kara’s budding relationship struggles to take root. Maddie finally meets with Bobby Chester her estranged father. Janey large with child struggles with the idea of returning to Ohio St. for her 3rd year in vet. school. Carolina is struggling with her perception of how others will see her if she and Seamus O’Grady go public with their relationship. When the author does finally focus most of this story exclusively on Abby and Adam things heat up in a hurry. Adam convinces her if she wants to shed her good girl identity she should have a fling with him rather than picking up random guys. Abby is tired of being less than the top priority of the men in her life whom she believes were too career focused. She struggles to keep her emotions out of her fling with Adam knowing he is eventually going to return to New York City and reboot his career. Grant has mentioned in his and Stephanie’s book that Abby did not enjoy either giving or receiving oral sex. She confesses to Adam she’s had problems achieving the Big O with her lovers and has been faking it most of the time. Apparently, her subconscious has taught her that good girls don’t enjoy sex. Can Adam do what his brother Grant and Cal failed to do and give Abby orgasms? Will he chose staying with Abby on Gansett Island over returning to the helm of the company he founded and had stolen from him?
Time for Love
In Fool for Love the 2nd book in this series, David Lawrence M.D. broke Janey McCarthy’s (now Cantrell) heart when she showed up unexpectedly at her fiancée’s Boston apartment to celebrate the 13th anniversary of their first date only to find him getting laid by a busty blonde. It’s been two year since Janey found David with another woman and ran into the arms of Joe Cantrell. While Janey has rebounded and is now happily married to Joe and expecting their first child, Doctor David is still struggling to adapt to a life without the woman he’d been with since their sophomore year of high school. David feels as though the close-knit community of Gansett Island still thinks of him as a pariah for cheating on the Island’s favorite daughter even though as the Island’s only doctor he regularly goes above and beyond to care for them. He even delivered Janey’s niece Hailey during a tropical storm saving her life earning the begrudging gratitude of the McCarthy family. The reality is that even though most of the Island’s residents have put David’s betrayal of Janey behind them, David cannot forgive himself. Until Daisy a shy sweet hotel housekeeper who has an unfortunate knack for getting involved with the wrong men comes into his life and leads him out of the darkness. Daisy was first introduced as a minor secondary character in Maid for Love the 1st book in this series. In the previous book Daisy who has a history of making terrible choices for boyfriends was the victim of domestic abuse at the hands of her then meth addict boyfriend Truck. She and David have gotten to know one another as she’s frequently been his patient when being treated for her most recent domestic abuse injuries. I easily got past the idea of David a highly educated physician from a good family falling for Daisy a minimally educated woman working as a housekeeper who comes from a completely dysfunctional family falling in love. Everyone loves a Cinderella story. But I struggled with the professional ethics of a doctor dating one of his patients. Still, I guess being the only doctor on Gansett Island it would have been rather difficult for David to find anyone who wasn’t his patient to date. I felt the author focused more of the story on David’s and Daisy’s relationship in this book than she has the main couple in other recent books in this series. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of other things happening on Gansett Island that don’t directly involve David and Daisy. For one thing it seems since the birth of Maddie’s son Thomas no woman on the Island has been able to have an uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery. Like her sister-in-law Maddie before her, Janey ends up being put on bed rest two months before her due date. Her cousin Laura is struggling so badly with vomiting issues she has to have an IV to keep her hydrated. Seamus O’Grady sticks his foot in it when he fails to tell his mum that the woman he’s in love with and living with Carolina Cantrell is 18 years his senior and the mother of his boss. Although its never mentioned, since Carolina co-owns the ferry company with Joe her son, she is also Seamus’s boss. Tiffany’s now ex-husband Jim is still causing more problems for her and Blaine. Jenny the Ivy League educated lighthouse keeper who lost her fiancée in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center is dipping her toes back into the dating pool with the help of her new group of girlfriends. New characters Alex and Paul Martinez are struggling to keep their landscaping business afloat and care for their mother who suffers from a rapidly progressing case of early onset Alzheimer’s. And there’s hints of a romance between Laura’s father Paul and Betsy, a grieving mom. The rest of the growing list of characters from the previous stories all make brief appearances. Never a dull moment on Gansett Island.

Longing For Love

I enjoyed this story about Tiffany and Blaine. Tiffany has opened a new store selling lingerie and sex toys in downtown Gansett Island home of the conservatives. She is advertising wearing some of the outfits she sells in her store.

Blaine the Chief of Police is supposed to shut her down but she's not breaking the law only causing accidents on the mail road through Gansett Island. So what's he supposed to do about it. He likes Tiffany and is waiting for her divorce to become final before he makes his move.

Waiting for Love

I enjoyed this story about Adam and Abby. They meet up on the ferry to Gansett Island and it's almost love at first site. Even though they knew each other for years when Abby was dating his brother Grant. Adam holds Abby's hair back while she pukes, and they start talking. They have both just gotten out of bad relationships.

Abby is returning to Gansett Island as a failure in her relationship and after giving up a lucrative business. Adam has just lost his relationship amd his company so their both double losers until they unite.

Time For Love

I enjoyed this story about Dr. David and Daisy. David has been on his own for a while when Daisy is brought into his clinic all beaten up. He checks on her after work to make sure she's healing when she starts feeding him from dishes, she has received from the many neighbors. They get into the habit of eating together and then they get together.

After that they start seeing each other more regularly and sparks happen between them. David finds that the relationship is even more than what he had with Janey/

I love Gansett Island

This collection of books continues the saga of the McCarthy families, and their friends. I love the way the families, especially the men of the families, care for, love snd protect each other. There is potential tragedy, which is mostly averted, and redemption for past mistakes. This is not a superficial read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to visit Gansett Island again.

Gansett

Another hit. Young lovers. Old lovers. Young and old lovers. Romance. Sex. Trauma. Drama. Gossip.  Scandal. Mix it all together with the strong alpha men and the women they love. Men who aren't afraid to cry. Wow. I'll give it a ten out of five.
These books are so fine to read. With so many characters per book it never bores you

Hearts awaken on Gansett Island

I’m a Rhode Island gal and a huge Marie Force fan! Gansett really reminds me of my youth and beach visits and finding love in familiar and also strange places. I love the family dynamic and the passionate scenes too. Human drama which is so very relatable and often relevant.

Longing for Love #7 – This book focuses on Tiffany and Blaine. Blaine and Tiffany met a few books ago however Tiffany was still married to her ex-husband. Now that they are divorced she and Blaine have a chance to what could be. However they both have insecurities from their pasts. Will they allow those things to impact this relationship? Plus there is the store Tiffany opened on the island the conflict it is stirring up. Will they find love with each other?
Waiting for Love #8 – This book focuses on Adam and Abby (Grant’s ex-fiancé). Both of them have come back to the island have once again. Abby after another failed engagement and Adam after losing his company and girlfriend. Abby has left Cal after following him to Texas after his mother’s stroke. Things were different there and then there was Cal’s ex-girlfriend. Abby still believes he still has feeling for her but that isn’t the only reason she left. Adam and Abby reunite on the same ferry back to the island. Abby is determined to do all the things she has never done before while trying to be a good girl and Adam has decided that he is going to help her be this new girl. In and out of bed with whatever she wants. Things quickly go from a fling to maybe something more. How will Grant react to his brother dating his ex-fiancé?
Time for Love #9 – The book focuses on Daisy and David (Janey’s ex-fiancé). David is the only doc on the island and took the job without a second chance when Cal had to leave to take care of his mother. David has always planned on having the job and didn’t think twice about taking it. But, now living on the island that likes to gossip and knowing how badly he messed things up with Janey hasn’t been that great. Then he meets Daisy when she is brought in for treatment cause by her then boyfriend. They strike up an unlikely relationship. It starts with him checking up on her after clinic hours and then her bringing him food at the clinic. Will this be just what they both need? Other couples have their excitement in this book as well. A baby is born, a couple is married, and another is engaged. This book was such a fun read.
I can’t say enough about these three books or this series as a whole. I love that you get to read about all the characters in each book. So much happens in these books. These books are emotional at times and you can’t help but cheer the characters on. They each have such a unique story. The characters are always there for each other. They are like one giant family even if they aren’t all related by blood or marriage. Marie Force is such a fantastic author. The world she creates, well I don’t even have words to describe it. I am always eager to read the next book in the series. In fact I have book 10 already.
