This wasn't me. I wasn't some hormonally-driven horndog who couldn't manage to keep his dick in his pants. She brought something out in me, and I wasn't sure I liked it.

Well, well, well, and so the plot thickens...and how! The Boss serial is my crack and Cari and Taryn are my favorite pushers because this self-professed serial avoider is addicted! Usually I wait until a series is complete, but something about these books leaves me in actual pain until I get my next fit. I should probably look into this.

The serial is told in alternating POVs, and with Grace having hers in the first book, now it's Blake's turn. Now I'm not sure what I expected. A typical enigmatic billionaire meets heroine and falls head over heels in love after fighting it for 5 books? You should know these authors don't do anything in half measures like that. And let me just tell you, Blake's POV will turn quite a few things on their ass. I didn't see any of it coming and the revelations only served to whet my appetite further.

This takes off immediately where book 1 ended; the aftermath of Blake and Grace's sizzling unexpected hookup in his office building after being locked in together accidentally. Blake never expected for Grace to effect him in such a way, but now he can't deny it. The chemistry between them is just as strong as ever even if both of them continue to fight the inevitable.
She wasn't just going to come. She was going to shatter, and I was going to break apart with her.

What Grace doesn't realize, however, is not only does Blake know what she's after but he's hiding quite a few things of his own...and they're a doozy.

Of course it wouldn't be a Cari and Taryn book if it didn't end in a cliffhanger that will make you want to rip your hair out. So it you'll excuse me, I'm off to jump straight into book 3 which is luckily already released and hope that the cliffy in that one won't leave me rocking in a dark corner somewhere.

Wickedly sensual and exciting.

Blake Carson has dedicated his life to build his empire… and watch her. She doesn’t know who he is and he never expected her to show up at his building hiding behind lies and practically demanding he give her a job. He did though because she’s as captivating and intriguing as ever. But now he’s in danger of having her tearing down his carefully constructed walls.
“Of course I couldn’t have her. No one could. It was impossible to trap a beam of sunlight. The only thing you could do was enjoy the warmth for as long as it lasted.”

This second part of The Boss serial starts off right where the first installment left off. Told from Blake’s point of view, we see just how much he’s shaken by the spontaneous and explosive sexcapade between him and Grace when they got trapped overnight in his office building’s lobby.

There are some revelations regarding the baffling billionaire including the fact that he feels undeserving of Grace and even though he knows who she is he doesn’t fully trust her motivations, therefore putting his professional façade back on to try to fight a losing battle. The bond between though, is undeniable and deep as the secrets they’re keeping from each other.
“Perhaps my so-called assistant had devised a plan on how to snag me, and I'd fallen right into her hands.”

As Grace keeps pushing him and he slowly gives an inch at a time, Taryn and Cari weave a captivating story that has me deliciously addicted.
“Y-yeah. Umm, not that this isn’t hella cool and all, but you’re not going to pull a Christian Grey, right? There’s an actual pilot that goes with this ride, isn’t there?”
I frowned. “You’re comparing me to a man who has his hired help clean his butt plugs?”

While Grace continues to make me smile with her sass, I loved getting to be in Blake’s head and his snarky, dry humor. I also liked his very alpha, caveman protectiveness over Grace and his dominant tendencies during their incredibly hot sexy times.
“You’re not walking alone to the train,” I said, daring her to defy me. To give me a reason to bend her over this sink and exert my will in a way that would make her scream with pleasure.

This is the second volume of six in The Boss serial. It is a short read, told from the hero’s point of view with a cliffhanger. It is strongly advised that these be read in order.

In book 2, the story is told from Blake's POV and it picks up right where book 1 left off. Right after their tryst in the reception area of his building, Blake immediately goes back to being "professional." The only problem is, in the heat of the moment he forgot that there are cameras everywhere, so yes, technically they just made a sex tape.

Being the owner of the company and building, Blake tries to record over the videotape to make sure no one knows what just happened, but only after he makes a copy for himself. But Blake hire the best, so when Violet, the head of security, demands a meeting with him he knows he's been caught. I like Violet, she's got confidence in her ability to do her job and doesn't even let the boss get away with breaking the rules.

Blake and Grace are strictly professional afterwards even though the heat between them has just been turned up several degrees. Grace apparently doesn't want to wait on him to make the next move so she takes matters into her own hands. Don't you just hate it when your garter clip breaks. Blake walks into the bathroom just as she's got her leg up trying to fix it. The sex between these two gets better each time.

We learn though that Blake knows exactly who Grace is. He thinks she has some secret or plan up her sleeve, but he's just not sure what it is.
Perhaps my so-called assistant had devised a plan on how to snag me, and I'd fallen right into her hands.

And of course, because this is a serial we are left with another cliffhanger. Book 3 here I come!

We now get Blake's point of view. I am loving this back and forth viewpoint of the main characters. In this part, we find out interesting pieces of information. This couple is on fire for each other. What happens when a misunderstanding seems to douse that fire?

It seems Blake spied with his little eye, Grace a lot sooner than we thought. In fact, he knew her Grandma, Annabelle. We also discover that Blake thinks, no matter what he does, that he'll never be good enough for Grace. However, he can't stay away from her. He can't stop thinking about her, wanting to be with her, wishing things were different. He craves her.

Grace craves him too. We know this from the first part. We also know she's hiding her true motives from him. But she can't stay away.

They spend more time together and are drawn to each other even more. Grace makes Blake lose focus. During their hot encounter after getting locked in the building together, he has some serious security measures, Blake couldn't think straight. It wasn't until after Grace went home once the lockdown was lifted, that he remembers the cameras that inevitably recorded every moment of their time together. Blake doesn't want anyone seeing that but him. For one, he doesn't want anyone to think differently about Grace. Two, the naughty boy comes out and he may have copied that section to his personal USB drive. Raise your hand if you also find that hot. *raises hand*

There's also an event that Blake's company is in charge of. He's not doing it for PR, for attention for the company, or for sympathy. He's doing it because he wants to help. His heart is in the right place and you can tell this means a lot to him. Grace attends as his date and she sees another side to Blake. There's a helicopter ride that leaves Grace in awe and Blake even more smitten. Don't even get me started on the restaurant scene. Holy moly, that was hot. Cari and Taryn always deliver smoking hot sexy scenes. As in, my body is on fire and I need my significant other, spouse, or a free hand ;-) now scenes.

But things don't always go the way you initially plan for them to. Feelings change. Motive is thrown out the window. Unfortunately, things have a way of coming out and being misunderstood. Grace says something after some one on one on camera *winks* time and Blake instantly starts thinking the worst. His response is to essentially punish Grace for what he believes she's doing without giving her any chance to explain herself.

Will Blake really let Grace go? Will he give her a chance to tell her side or will he just continue to assume the worst of her? Will Grace let him go? Will she try and force him to listen to her or will she stick with her initial plan, forgetting the developing feelings between them?

I don't know if I'm going to withstand the wait for volume three. Granted, it releases on December 10th, but I need to know now what happens. I am loving this couple and can't wait to see what Cari and Taryn have in store for them. I highly recommend this serial to everyone.

Stars: 4.5

Overall: This story picks up where the last one left off. Grace and Blake shared a sexual fulled moment and Blake pulls away immediately and leaves Grace confused, but after some time, Blake still can't get Grace out of his head. So he asks he to come to an event with him and that's where their relationship takes another turn.

The authors keep dropping hints about Blake knowing Grace from his past and I'm hoping that in a future book, that the past is better explained and that they get a HEA. I also still love Grace's kickass attitude and how she keeps Blake in his place. Another cliff hanger with this story and I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

The second on the series

So this whole hot and cold thing with Blake is really unnerving me.

Blake escorts Grace to a benefit via helicopter. Afterwards he takes her out to eat, even holding her hand and everything and he is really starting to redeem himself, until bam!
Barely minutes after her takes her on top of the office building, he fires her! My first thought? Fucking run Grace as far as you can from this jackass!

We got to delve into Blake's head and even then he's still a huge mystery to me. Finally the wonder of him knowing her has been revealed and pushed even further to her grandmother. I guess I can understand why he bought her house to some extent. I still need to know more though!

Their encounters were hot, and I loved the commanding way that he is and I just kept thinking about them tattoos and being disappointed that he didnt have on his glasses. xD

Things picked up quickly and I was glued to my phone, didn't even know when I fell asleep last night lol. But the ending had me quirking my brow - not sure out of shock or lust because as I said before, them book assholes are known to get my basement flooding. lmao

I'm really eager to now see what Grace's thought is and her next game plan before *whistles* I know she won't be taking this easily. O.O

Why the three star though?

Getting into his head? His voice? I didn't really like it. Grrr, I know - am a picky bitch. But yo he was so harsh and so... sexily mysterious from Grace's point of view, I was fixing for that in his POV. The one where I'd constant me dueling with my annoyance and my lust at the same time!

I'm always hesitant to now read a book in a male POV, mostly if I've already read a book looking in from the outside. Will being on the inside make me crave him more? Or will he simply flop? I get terrified to take that chance, but I always do.

I didn't love his voice...and his justification was blah.

Where his my four eye tattooed sexy beast??

Sigh.

I still love you Blake.

Your cock makes up for it. LOL ;3

More Cari & Taryn goodness! Another freaking cliffhanger! I tell you when they are all out I'll be reading them again but one right after another :D

The heat continues and it's from Blake's point of view this time. Grace is messing up Blake's perfectly ordered life. To be caught on camera at the office and then to try to fix it...not something that is easily done when you have the top security on your side. He doesn't do well by trying to ignore the emotions he's battling when it comes to Grace. But oh, to destroy it all by knowing her full name...

Billionaire Blake Carson is finding life more complicated since he had the hottest sex of his life with his assistant, Grace Copeland. He can't fight his attraction to her even though they both have secrets and he believes they can never be together. This is the second story in the serial and told from Blake's point of view. I'm hooked and anxious to read the next one. Grace and Blake's story is sexy, interesting and mysterious.

What a total mind F*** Grace must be feeling. Though this book was Blake's POV I was totally feeling it every time he called out her name. I can't wait to read more and find out what and who Blake is cause there's too much he's holding back and his walls are falling!

Update:I re-read Vol. 2. My review with tweets here: The Boss Vol. 2

I prefer Book Two to Book One because it's from Blake's POV and that made the story more grounded, for me and made him more human. I don't fancy the cliffhanger though :( Anticipating Book Three!

Holy Hannah there's a lot of hot packed into this short story. This second book of the Boss series brings all of the sexual tension between Blake and Grace to a boiling point. Book 1 ends with a love scene hot enough to melt the very glass Blake has made his bazillions on, but Book 2 brings it all to a whole new level. Not to mention we get more information about Grace and Blake and some possible history between them. It's all very sketchy in this book.

Blake is doing his best to stay away from Grace after their night of mistaken passion. Easier said than done. He's drawn to Grace in so many ways and in the end can't stop what's already been started. Yet, he feels like he'll never be good enough for the woman whose always held his attention (it seems).

Grace had one amazing, emotional night with Blake and then he's been off limits. He's totally keeping his distance. It doesn't take long to figure out resistance is futile. When they are in close proximity and no one around the heat is off the charts and impossible to resist. However, the aftermath is sure to break her. He always leaves her feeling like a huge mistake or worse a whore.

Blake is starting to have feelings for Grace but in his line of work he can't afford to. He knows she's there for another reason than to be his assistant and he will find out. Grace is trying not to fall for the enemy but it is hard. Every time he tries to take her home she refuses she doesn't want him to know she's hiding away in the house he bought up from her deceased grandmother. Will these two finally open up or will things get to complicated?

They didn't; oh yes they did........

In the office bathroom, really. The only room+ in the building not covered by surveillance cameras, but the minute the walked out the door, it was as if it never happened. And to top it all off he fired her. Now how will she ever get her grandma's house back??

Grace Copeland and Blake Carson have what you might call a complicated relationship. Determined to keep her family home, Grace has come to work for Blake, CEO of Carson Covenant Glass, under false pretenses. But not really. Because Blake has secrets of his own, and he knows exactly who Grace is. In fact, he's known for as long as he can remember, just like he knows that the illicit passion exploding between the two of them can never go anywhere.

First, just let me say, OH, MY GOODNESS. And here, I thought Part One was scorching. It is, but it's got nothing on Part Two of this serial series by authors Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott. Told from Blake's point of view, this installment allows us to gain perspective on what makes Blake tick, and to see some of what he's feeling about his relationship with Grace. And what he's feeling is conflicted, because there's more to Blake than meets the public eye. This is a man that has as many hidden layers as Grace does, a man that, at his heart, is almost the exact opposite of the image that he projects. He knows what Grace is doing, and that he should stay far away from her, but he's as unable to keep her at a distance as she is to stay away.

I am loving these characters and their story, and, dang it, ladies, those cliffhangers! Talk about having the last word, Cari and Taryn are killing me. I am anxiously awaiting the last and final installment of THE BOSS, because I have GOT to know what the heck Blake's story is, and to see how this, erm, situation plays out between him and Grace. Another 5+ stars for this über-sexy mindgame of a read. Well done, ladies, well done.

Book one was the introduction to Blake and Grace. Told from Grace’s point of view, it told a little about her past and the circumstances that brought her into Blake’s life. It was seriously hot and just enough background to make me think I knew what was going on yet dying to know Blake’s side of the story.

Enter book two told from Blake’s POV. I’m expecting to finally get answers to some of the burning questions raised in book one, like exactly who he is, what he meant to her grandmother, and why he’s always been watching her. But, GAAHHHH, no! I have more questions now than before and absolutely no idea where this story is going. Absofreakinglutely no idea at all. I once thought I was an expert at solving the mystery early into a book, but these authors have twisted me around and turned me upside down, so now I’m just left wondering WTF and Jonesing for resolution.

Book two is filled with witty banter, sexual tension, mystery, and is even more dirty and delicious than its predecessor. It left me frustrated and wanting, but I loved every minute. Bring on book 3. NOW!

I've been watching...all this time.

I grew up as the bastard son on the wrong side of the tracks. Until an angel I could never repay helped me climb to the top.

Soon she’ll realize that being on top is where I belong—and where she’ll beg me to be.

REVIEW: THE BOSS Volume 2, in the serialized , erotic romance series by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott (told from Blake’s point of view) follows our hero and his attraction and need for his assistant Grace Copeland. While Grace has yet to reveal the truth about who she is and what she wants, Blake knows Grace’s entire life history-inside and out. What ensues is the continuing hot and steamy relationship both inside and outside of work that finds Blake pushing at all of Grace’s dark secrets.

THE BOSS Vol 2 is another quick and sexy read; a story line with graphic sexual situations between employee and employer where the heroine is caught between what it is she wants and what she needs to do. Once again, the premise is intense as our leading couple join with others to help find a missing child, and dramatic in the secrets and lies hidden behind glass walls and frozen hearts. Blake’s professional and cold demeanor is nothing compared to the heat between our hero and Grace. We learn a little bit about Blake’s family life; his mother and her latest beau of the month; and the fact that Grace’s life is out of her control. Don’t get your panties in a twist, there is more to come.

I was on the edge of my seat awaiting the release of this next installment of The Boss! I had actually enjoyed Part 1 more once I got to the end and found out Part 2 would be from Blake’s POV. In my opinion, this book definitely didn’t disappoint. If anything, Part 2 is hotter than Part 1 but left us with even more questions without getting many of the first ones answered yet (which is always a downside to a serial/ cliffhanger!). That being said, even though I’m an impatient person who hates waiting for the rest of the story, Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn give us another a well-written and entertaining story that makes you want to keep coming back for more!

The Boss Part 2 begins immediately where Part 1 ended. Blake and Grace are trying to deal with their increasing feelings of attraction and lust for one another, and particularly the repercussions of acting on those feelings. We get more hints that there is a past connection between these two that Blake is aware of, beyond what we learned in the first book. Like I said before, we’re still left with a lot of unanswered questions at the end of this book, but the intensity of Grace and Blake's growing feelings and especially their interactions certainly make this a series worth continuing to follow. Bring on Part 3, ladies!

This is the second installment of the 6 part serial and is given to us from Blake’s point of view. It picks up hours after he leaves our lovely Grace hanging in the glass vestibule of his building and moves us forward several weeks in their relationship. We are clued in that Blake knows who the lovely Grace is, and has known her and watched her from the shadows for some time, but Grace apparently has no idea that she is somehow tied to Blake and peaked his interest years ago. We discover Blake is somehow tied to Grace’s grandmother that just recently passed away, however, NONE of this is cleared up!! We now have more questions then answers!!!!! Ugh!!! If I didn’t love the writing style and the hot sexiness that leaks off every page I would be pulling my hair now. Who am I kidding…I am pulling my hair and ticked off I have to wait for the next book. We are now seeing the relationship from Blake’s point of view and the ongoing flirting that transpires between Grace wanting to be closer to Blake, and Blake trying to resist since she is an employee and he feels he is not worthy. It is thrilling to see how they gravitate towards each other and surrender in the end to their base desires and attraction. Or do they? ANOTHER dang cliffhanger!!

I loved how in Vol 2 we get Blake's pov. It definitely raised some questions for me as well. We know Grace took the job to try to get her grandmas house back from Blake who purchased it. When things turned steamy at the end of Vol 1, I was wondering what was going to happen in this book.

The steam factor is high, because hello, it's Taryn and Cari. I don't think they can do any wrong in the steam department. Blake is just, wow, he ramps it up with the dirty talking and demands that had me wishing I was Grace. We learn more about Blake in this one and also learn that he knows Grace but not how or why. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book to see if some of my questions will be answered.

Of course we're left with a cliffhanger, and I was left stunned wondering what in the heck was going on and cursing Taryn and Cari for leaving me hanging like that! But they sucked me in again with their writing and brilliant story telling. I will be waiting impatiently for more Blake and Grace.

Warning Label: Book 2 is hotter, sexier, and still leaves you still begging for more

Book 2 in this series literally starts exactly where Book 1 stops. This time we are delving into the mind of Blake and get an interesting perspective from the ever brooding billionaire. Where Grace seemed to be more of an open book; Blake is a complicated man of secrets. Everything I thought I felt about Blake was blown away in this book. His "thoughts and feelings" were so conflicted, but yet so real. Grace's character was still fun and sassy. So many questions as to who Blake really is? Where is Grace living? When will all the lies come out? How will all the secrets be revealed? Will Grace and Blake get the happily ever after?

I was skeptical on how the authors would be able to progress the book so quickly and not make it feel rushed, but somehow it was so natural that I was again left dismayed (and many other things) when the ending cliffhanger arrived. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first, so I literally can't wait for Book 3!

Ms. Elliott and Ms. Quinn have succeeded in creating a suspenseful, love/hate relationship that leaves the reader yearning for more. Blake insecurities of people wanting to get close to him for personal gain has caused Blake to build walls around his heart. He also has a secret and lied to Grace through omission. He also knows that Grace has secrets and has blatantly lied to him. This part of the series is written from Blake’s POV. The attraction between the two is intense but they only ever give into each other just enough to take the edge off and revert back to the love/hate relationship. Blake is not prepared for the ways that Grace challenges him. Grace isn’t prepared for the way Blake turns his feelings on and off so easily. Blake’s hardness pushes Grace to the limit. If he doesn’t soften a little, he could lose Grace. By the end, he is so suspicious of Grace, did he push too hard and lose her completely? Another cliffhanger. Part 3 can’t be released soon enough.

I was given this ARC for an honest review.

The Boss: Part 2 continues the Blake and Grace hot-a-thon, this time told from Blake's POV. It takes off where Part 1 ended. We see a bit more into what makes Blake tick, and I alternated between wanting to smack the smugness off his face and wanting to know more about how this complicated man thinks.

And the end? I won't spoil it with details, but I think [hope] it will be the catalyst for ALL the secrets coming out in the open. We'll see.

Kudos to Cari and Taryn for delivering (yet again) characters that wrap you up and make you invested. This is book 2 in a 6-part series, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of their story.

Then I'm looking forward to reading all 6 parts in one sitting.
