As a half-breed shapeshifter, Quinn has always assumed she would be sent away when she fails to change into a lynx on her twenty-seventh birthday. Her future seems hopeless until she meets Danny, a human who helps her dream of a life beyond the next two years. When she discovers that everything she’s ever believed about her heritage is a lie, her world is turned upside down, and she is no longer sure she can fully commit to Danny.
Captured by enemies of the born vampires, Danny is forced to face his greatest fears while struggling to stay alive. Thoughts of Quinn, a woman he barely knows, keep him sane. After his escape, fate intervenes and Danny finds himself rescuing Quinn. While Danny’s future still seems uncertain, he is sure of one thing—Quinn is the woman for him. Now, he just needs to convince her that they belong together.
In the sanctuary of the shapeshifter community, Danny and Quinn are free to explore their growing feelings without world interference from the outside, but Danny knows he can’t avoid his old life forever. As the sanity of an old enemy rapidly unravels, no one is safe, and the born vampires must face a foe who will stop at nothing to destroy them.
Cassandra Lawson lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and her two youngest children. When she is not writing, she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, or curling up with a good book.
Danny has been feeling a tad out of sorts since Layla mated with Simon, and he's annoyed with himself for feeling that way. He wakes up with a strange woman in his bed, with a massive hangover and the worst morning breath he's ever had. Luckily for him, that doesn't put Quinn off, although she does have to leave him and doesn't think she'll see him again. Of course, as the reader, you have a pretty good idea that they will end up together (or at least you hope so) but the question is how.
This book was simply amazing and I am going to be very careful with what I say so that I don't give away any spoilers. Trust me, every word is to be savoured and I would be doing you a grave injustice to give anything away.
There is so much to this book - we learn more of Danny's history and how he feels (and why) about vampires; we learn about Quinn and her parentage, what it means and what effect that will have on her life; we also meet again with Layla and Simon, Connor and Raven, plus Ian and Kyleigh. I honestly can't wait for Cam and Claire's story but I will (im)patiently wait.
Well written and with a smooth pace, Shattered Restraint is a delight to read and has no editing or grammatical errors that I found. With enough questions left to keep you invested in the series, but with enough answers given, you feel completely satisfied by the time you reach the end. Absolutely recommended!

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Nov 4, 2015
This series is getting better and better, we learn more about the characters and the storyline takes major plot changes - I love it.
This is Danny's book, it's taken him quite a bit to get used to living with vampires, he witnessed his dad slaughtered by vampires at a young age.
Quinn is a half breed, she is a lynx shifter or should become one on her 27th birthday, she has lots of questions about her situation so goes looking for Layla, she doesn't find Layla but does run into Danny and wakes up in his bed.....
When these two meet up again things have changed a lot, Danny is uncomfortable with his situation and takes the offer of temporary accommodation in the woods.
Their story/romance is mixed in with lots of other things going on in the communities, so we get all our favourite characthers getting a part.
I really like the shifter community, I think my favourite is Zane, there's something about him, always touching, whether male or female, I wonder if he may find a male companion at times???
Quinn and Danny make an interesting couple, they're both strong and want control, they both have to learn about being a couple. One place they are fine is in the bedroom, they're hot and very active and in agreement in that area.
I loved how this book finishes, it took me by surprise I have to say, but makes me want more asap.
To round up
Great story development, fabulous characthers, sexy times, romance and learning more about the shifters. <3
Shattered Restraint (Moon Virus Book 4) by Cassandra Lawson Danny was recently changed into a vampire against his will. Half-breed Lynx Shifter Quinn uncovers secrets about her heritage. The two turn to each other for encouragement and their attraction to each other grows.
I did not realize Shattered Restraint was part of a series when I started reading it. The more I read about the support characters; I had a feeling that there were other stories that took place before this novel. I discovered there are three earlier books. That being said I had no problem following the story. I really liked Shattered Restraint. I have a feeling, I would have appreciated it even more if I read it in order.
I really like Danny. After watching his dad’s murder at the age of four by the hand of vampires, it is no wonder he has a dislike for the species. To be turned into something he hates would be extremely difficult. Quinn has her own set of issues. The two are a perfect support system for one another and help each other cope with their problems. They both have good friends and family. They are likeable characters that I wanted to see flourish.
There are a few of antagonist in the story. They all have fascinating motives and are convincing. I especially ended up liking Cord, the leader of the Cougar Shifters.
The plot was interesting, fast paced, and full of twists. The story was well-written and easy to follow. The ending was well resolved. Cassandra Lawson has created an intriguing and believable world. I really enjoyed this story and have already put the previous books on my “want to read” list.

I just love Cassandra's writing, books and characters that come out of her head. It's been a while since I read the last Moon Virus Novel and her story telling ability is such that I was able to just jump right back into the lives of all the characters at the born vampires settlement without pause. I read this book in almost one sitting - I had to sleep so don't judge lol - but picked it back up this morning and read the rest. Danny and Quinn's story is one of loss, self pity, hope, love and acceptance. Quinn is fiery young half shifter/half human who in 2 years may or may not go through her first shift when she meets Danny. There is an immediate connection between the two but it can't really go anywhere because of who her Uncle is. So she leaves his house the morning after meeting him, never expecting to see him again but fate always has a way of intervening when two souls are destined to be together. She needs saving and protected after finding out she is not half human but something else entirely. Danny goes through a traumatic experience and because of his past it makes it hard for him to accept himself after he is kidnapped and then is able to escape. He barely deals with it but with the help of Quinn who keeps him distracted and focused only on her, he slowly learns to love himself again. I'm looking forward to the next Moon Virus Novel to see what kind of magical mix of love Cassandra Lawson can create again. I highly recommend all the Moon Virus Novels!
Looking for that special paranormal romance that will have you at the edge of your seats, biting your nails, and fanning yourself? Then Shattered Restraint by Cassandra Lawson is the book for you! This happens to be the next book in her Moon Virus Series and is a definite page turner. The characters will stun and amaze you while the plot thickens with each turn of the page. The sexual chemistry sizzles between Danny and Quinn. Some of the scenes were so hot, I had to take a big gulp of ice water to cool down...LOVED IT!
Miss Lawson's writing is addicting and will have you coming back for another taste! I loved the suspense, the constant action, and sizzling romance and good sex. When I can get a book that sweeps me away and keep me there till the last page it thrills me to no end.
Shattered Restraint got an AMAZING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! The story was incredible with some great characters. A MUST READ FOR PARANORMAL ROMANCE LOVERS EVERYWHERE!
I love the homogenous environment the vampire settlement leader Connor tries to create in spite of the past enslavement of he and his people. In this book, Danny has to come to terms with being infected by the Moon virus after being taught to hate vampires his entire human existence. Although he has since become more tolerant and friendly with both vampires and shifters, being vampire is not something Danny would have ever chosen for himself. All this while trying to convince his perfect shifter mate, Quinn, that they belong together!
#1-I received a copy from the author for an honest review. #2- I stink at reviews. That being said, WOW, this series just keeps getting better. What can I say about Danny and Quinn's story? Nothing, because I don't want to give anything away. If you've been reading this series then find a comfy spot and settle in cause you won't want to put this one down once you start.
In this book, Danny finds his mate, Quinn, a half shifter. It's funny, but until this book, I had visualized Danny as an annoying kid brother. Cassandra Lawson quickly disabused me of that notion, presenting Danny as a sexy force in his own right. Quinn seems a bit of an ingenue but is not actually as innocent as she appears. They make a great couple.
The conflict continues, with sadistic Roger still looking for revenge or power or whatever it is that motivates him. Claire and Cam appear frequently and it's clear their relationship will need to be explored further in a future story. This time around, the tension was not so great that it made me feel anxious and I appreciated that.
Danny is a human living at a vampire settlement. Having been raised at a human settlement and hating vampires his entire life, he has a hard time adjusting, until he starts to make friends and see for himself that not all vampires are evil. During an unscheduled trip to the city, because a pregnant vampire needs to visit the Doctors, he is ambushed and taken captive by Rodger's goons. He is taken to his former settlement's new settlement to be experimented on. He is in for a world of hurt. Quinn is a shifter that Danny has met before and really liked. She snuck into the the vampire settlement in order to meet the other half breed, Layla. Quinn also liked Danny but never expected to see him again. After receiving help in getting free, Danny is supposed to go to the treasure island settlement, but comes upon Quinn being attacked by shifters of a diffrent kind. He immediately starts to help her and when all is done he is shocked by her outsider hating uncle inviting him to stay at the shifters territory for as long as he would like in graditude for fending off 4 shifters to help Quinn. Needing time to come to grips with the changes in his life and of course wanting to spend time with Quinn he agrees. Quinn now has mixed feeling about Danny. She admits that she felt an attraction to him when they first met and even now, but she is completely unsure if she wants to be mated, and not knowing much about her history only complicates things more. Danny would never take that step without her complete willingness. When Layla and Simon show up unexpectedly to make Danny go home, she also leaves with them believing Raven is her key to answers….well at least some answers. For Danny, being home is a trial for him but with the help of his friend it will work out. He has to get beyond his self hate and Quinn needs to make some choices. Does she want to be with Danny? How much does her Parentage matter? This series of novels has been absolutely entertaining I really do hope that there are more to come, and I hope that Cam and Claire get a book of their own. Great read, I absolutely recommend.
I read the full series back to back and loved them all. I can't wait for the next book to be published. They are clever, fun, well written and edited with social commentary weaved into the stories. Cultural diversity is a large part of the story and how others try to adversely influence that. Danny's story shows how he had to face his own fears, but he was so sensitive to Ouinn's mixed heritage. I'm glad they were happy in the end and supportive of each other's backgrounds. I love how all of these books comment on diversity to some degree and that the characters are within each book so you get to know them a little better with each book. Part of Kindle Unlimited.
