SHERLOCK HOLMES IS ABOUT TO MEET HIS MOST TERRIFYING ADVERSARY in Gautier Cazenave's SHERLOCK HOLMES VS. FRANKENSTEIN Novelized by SEVENTEEN-TIME Amazon Kindle No 1 Bestselling Author DAVID WHITEHEAD Only the most intriguing mystery could lure Sherlock Holmes from the comfort of Baker Street in the winter of 1898 ... and it came with the ghastly murder of a gravedigger in the most bizarre of circumstances. Thus it was that Holmes and Watson travelled to the tiny German village of Darmstadt to unmask a callous killer with an even more terrifying motive ... and all within the long, ominous shadow of Castle Frankenstein ... SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE!!!
Going by its schlocky title and origins as an unproduced screenplay, you'd be forgiven for expecting this book to be a waste of time. And while it's certainly no THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA, author David Whitehead is enough of a pro to make the story work far better than it ought to. Though it devolves into pure camp during the final two chapters, it's a perfectly effective Sherlock Holmes pastiche up to that point--a bit nastier than what Sir Conan Doyle would have written, but done in much the same spirit. I'd probably only recommend it for hardcore Holmes or Frankenstein fans, but it's certainly not something you should be embarrassed to have on your shelf.
Yet another bottom of my Kindle find. I also remember this one. I mostly remember loving it and wishing that I could find the movie it's based on locally distributed, but apparently America hates indie productions from Eastern Europe.
Wow! A very dynamic Sherlock Holmes Doctor Watson story. Very energetic and exciting. The story actually seemed to me to ring very true to form. Just think Sherlock Holmes meets Frankenstein's monster and survives!
This was as good as I hoped it would be. Doesn’t over push the Frankenstein theme and the mystery runs through the book. I found the authors writings very easy to read and understand.
