ICE
Cammy, a beautiful, talented Hunter, has always taken her future for granted. She will mate with her best friend Rage and live happily ever after. But her perfect future explodes, quite literally. Rage has chosen another mate, and the Pantera’s enemies have struck at the very heart of the Wildlands. Now she is forced to partner with Ice, the aloof, always mysterious Hunter, to retrieve one of their own. Together they must track down the humans who attacked them, and uncover a secret that threatens the survival of the Pantera.

Can she find a way to work with the gorgeous male who stirs her most primitive emotions? And, more importantly, is a happily-ever-after still possible?

REAUX
Taken from her home when she was only 17 and forced to breed, Karen finally has her freedom back. But the chains of captivity still hold the beautiful human mother close, and when she starts to break down emotionally, she knows she needs help.
Unfortunately the only Healer she wants is the very one she can’t have.

All of his life, Reaux has been labeled a wicked mistake. With his body constantly sending out a sexual musk, he’s irresistible to females. So, the brooding Healer keeps to himself. Until he meets Karen. She needs him desperately. Not for sex, though. Just for healing.
But how can he do the work he’s meant to do, if he’s falling in love with his patient?

I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

Personal Overview

Ice - 3.5 Stars

Cammy, a Hunter female shifter, has been best friends with Rage, since cubhood (loved the word, btw), and and always though that they would end up together. That is, until Rage shows up with a mate.
She had accept the fact and started to pay more attention to a pair of eyes that were constantly on her, not with disdain, like she thought, but something else entirely...
Since the moment Ice put his shifter eyes on Cammy, he knew she was meant to be his. The problem was that Cammy didn't see anyone beyond Rage.
He didn’t know when his cat had decided Cammy was his to protect. It’d come on so slowly he hadn’t recognized the danger until it was too late. Now he simply accepted that his cat wasn’t going to change its stubborn mind.
Even if she was obsessed with Rage.

But now, Cammy is free of her illusion and, when certain events take place and they are forced to work together, Ice decides it's time to make his move, and claim what's his.
It’s what he would’ve done just a few days ago.
But everything had changed when Rage returned home with a mate.
Now...

When confronted with their attraction, she realizes the true reason, for which she was attached to the illusion of a possible future with Rage.
Which was no doubt the reason she’d tried so hard to keep him at a distance.
Her attraction to Rage had felt safe. Comfortable. Like a well-worn blanket she could wrap around herself.
Certainly it’d never made her heart race or kept her awake at night.
This need for Ice was increasingly wild, threatening to burn out of control.

We also find out why he waited so many years for her, which in my opinion, for someone portraited as so alpha, is not very alpha , at all.
He’d wasted years. First, by trying ignore his feelings for her. And then by being too cowardly to make his claim.

So, as it has been recurrent in this series, he announces his intentions, and in the end she reveals they match her own wishes.
“You’re mine,” he murmured. “My mate.” He pressed an inch of his broad erection inside her.“My partner.” Another inch slid into her slick heat. “My love.”
“Forever,” she added, sinking her teeth into the spot where his neck met his shoulder.

Reaux - 4 Stars

This story had, IMO, a different feel than the rest of the series, not in a bad way. Or maybe it was just my imagination.
Karen, a human, was held captive as a breeder for twelve of her thirty years, and for their experiments she had three babies. One she was able to rescue later, and lives with her. But the second, she finds out in previous book - Ice - when she is kidnapped by him, that he was raised by the big villain of the series, Christopher, and his head was filled with lies, since birth.
All this events, (from the previous story), cause Karen to break down, not being able to deal with all this pain, so she pushed to seek therapy. And it's in one of these breaking moments, that she came across Reaux and feels instantly safer.
Reaux, a Healer Pantera shifter, is not without problems of his own. His scent is so powerful that no single female can resist it and they go crazy trying to get to him. That is until Karen, to whom it appears to have no effect (and there is no explanation in the book for it :( ). His mother is also the reason, for which he considers his power a curse, since she had an "irrational issue" with his gift, and enjoyed torturing him about it.
Goddess, don’t apologize, female. Not for your tears or for clinging to me like your very breath depends upon it. You have no idea how it feels. How long it’s been since a female’s touched me for anything other than their own sexual pleasure. (Reaux inner thoughts)

In helping Karen overcome and deal with her pain, he also starts to heal and come to terms with his gift, thanks to her and the loving and devoted way she treats her son, and they simultaneously fall in love. I really enjoyed the scenes with little Caleb, Reaux was the perfect father figure, and fell completely in love with the cub.
“I love you, woman. You and the cub. I want you as my family.”

And now I have to wait for August for the next in the series... :(

3,5 STARS

This review is only for the second story, Reaux's. I know, how could I not have read Ice's journey, right? Well, the plot just didn't do it for me. Sorry guys, but I like my books free of all that lost love drama. I think some books can pull it off amazingly well but with Ice's story I just didn't feel in the right mood to read it.

description

Buuuuut, I did read Reaux's heartbreaking story and I have to say I quite liked it! Both Reaux and Karen have been through so much pain and loss that I have no clue how they still managed to became such amazing people. Seriously, Karen was held prisoner by some crazy scientists for over more than a decade!!! No wonder she's messed up. I'd be too!

She’d pretty much fallen apart. Quietly, gently, unquestioningly, apart.

As for Reaux, his body is constantly sending out a sexual musk, so that he’s irresistible to females. And you'd think 'Hell, what's he complaining about, he can get laid anytime he wants, right?' Well, you'd be WRONG!!! He sees his 'gift' more as a curse, since he can't go anywhere without being jumped by famales. Sure, that's everyman's dream but, let me tell you, it's definitely not Reaux's dream. He always wanted to help people, so he became a Healer but with his 'curse' that dream became almost forgotten. Now, he can only help couples with their sexual problems. I mean, imagine that the poor guy can't even go through the city like normal people do. And ain't that a sad thing, living a life like that?!

description

All I can say is that I'm so damn grateful those two finally found each other. They were so good together and I'm happy that both helped each other heal and start to live their lives like they were supposed to. To be happy and in love is one of the gratest things one can have, and these two definitely deserved exactly that!

A Pantera male was something else entirely. A shocking and intense lover, a harsh predator, a valued friend, and a fierce ally.
And family.

Yet again these two authors have combined to bring readers another great instalment in the Bayou Heat series. Two very different authors and yet both the of them seamlessly offer fabulous paranormal romance with a unique twist. If shifters appeal to you then step into the world of the Pantera and be swept away by the passion and danger that lies within.
Two very different stories and yet together they make this one of my favourite instalments. First we have Ice who ends up partnered with the female Pantera Cammy. Now Cammy has rather unusual abilities but her past infatuation with Rage is rearing its ugly head. However there's an intensity that thrums between this unlikely couple but the hunt they go on throws them into a whole new world of trouble and strife!
Reaux is the second story and features Karen who has suffered so much. She may have been rescued but recent events have left her stumbling around trying to cope with her emotions. Step forward Reaux who usually only councils couples but Karen needs something a little different. Reaux has no wish to spend time with Karen but his cat just might have other ideas!
I thought that together these two stories really brought insight into just how twisted the world of Christopher and Benson industries is. I loved that Karen linked the stories and with her children there is clearly much more to come. Over coming tragedy seems to be something the Pantera and their mates have the do far too many often but I loved the emotional pull that Karens journey brought. If alpha males appeal to you then you will be salivating over Ice, yum! For this reader though Reaux really hit the spot but either way I truly had fun dipping back into this series. Romance, danger and of course females who challenge these dominant males but best of all a new direction for the authors to follow and this reader is happily on board.

Ice - Alexandra Ivy

As the plot thickens, the Pantera face even more danger at the hands of Christopher and Benson Enterprises. Cammy is at odds with her feelings for Rage ever since he found his mate but now that Rage is out of the picture the elusive, reclusive Ice makes his move towards claiming Cammy for his own. But as danger surrounds them and more secrets are revealed, Cammy begins to realize that it is time for her to listen to her inner cat and get her claws into Ice before it is too late for either of then them to have happiness and love in their lives.

Reaux - Laura Wright

Tragedy has been a constant companion for Karen for the past 12 years and once again her sanity is at risk with the discovery and subsequent loss of Ward. A blind stumble into Reaux's arms jolts her to the realization that with him she is safe to feel, to hurt, to cry and heal. But Reaux has problems of his own. Past experiences with women have lead him to believe that they only want him for one thing and that Karen is not that different from them. Soon he comes to understand Karen's past and that she is not the same as all the women he's met before. Maybe together they could help each other heal the wounds of their past.

Glad I persevered with this series. The first novella presents a love story that had nothing exceptional but was pleasant to read, and made the global plot progress. And the second novella has a great couple and a cute love story.

Laura and Alexandra have done it again!

Ice is troubled with his feelings for Cammy, who he believes is still hung up on Rage, a fellow Pantera who recently took a mate. Cammy is struggling with her growing attraction for Ice while coming to terms with the fact that the future she expected to have since she was a young girl is not going to happen. They need to put their feelings aside to track down the humans who attacked them and hopefully uncover their motives in order to save their entire race.

Karen was kidnapped as a teenager and forced to breed, never being allowed to see her children or know what became of them. She may be in a cage no longer, but her emotions and the unanswered questions are haunting her, causing her to turn to the one person who may not be able to heal her. Reaux is a healer at heart but he always picks his patients carefully so the irresistible musk he gives off unintentionally, doesn't interfere with their healing process.

I thoroughly enjoyed both the tales. I was glad to see Cammy getting her turn in the spotlight and seeing things from her perspective. It was Reaux and Karen's story that really gripped me though. I can't bare to think of what she went through in that cage, I am glad that Reaux was able to help her get some answers. I loved the plot twit and revelations in this book and can't wait to see where the story goes next.

The ladies have done it again with another great addition to the Pantera storyline. Each author creates a story where the couples have great chemistry and steamy scenes!

Ice- Ice and Cammy are hunters who are charged with rescuing Karen who was kidnapped from the Wildlands. Ice wants Cammy but thinks she is still in love with Rage...little does he know that ship sailed and he is all Cammy thinks about. Once they come to terms, their attraction is off the chart.

Reaux - Karen was rescued from Christopher's lab were she was used as a brood mare. Karen escaped with one of her kids. She is seeing a counselor at the Wildlands but she doesn't feel comfortable with her. The counselor suggests she work with Reaux. When Reaux sees Karen his cat says "mine" but he tries to keep things professional. Eventually Karen has a breakthrough and begins the healing process. When Reaux decides his cat is right and Karen is his mate, he then has to convince the human that she is his mate.

In this story we get more insight of what Christopher has planned for the Pantera, and their never ending search for him. Looking forward to the next installment.

Sexy Puma Shifters

Ice/Redux are in box set 10 of the Bayou Heat series by Laura Wright and Alexandra Ivy. With Pantera under attack and the victims of Benson Enterprise can anyone in Pantera find happiness? With 2 books in one volume it's the perfect time to check in with the puma shifters. The characters are wonderful and the suspense added to the world building the story keeps you wondering.

"Bayou Heat: Ice - Reaux" by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright. Books 19 & 20 in the Bayou Heat novella series.

I loved these two new novellas in this series! Both novellas flowed together really well with a very interesting story line that connects the two perfectly. The overall series story line is slowly building in these two stories and gives the reader just enough teasing to make you want to keep on reading to see what's going to happen next. I give both these novellas 5 stars each on there own.

ICE by Alexandra Ivy

I really enjoyed this novella. Not only does the reader get a romantic story between Ice and Cammy, we also get a subplot about a human woman named Karen who is searching for her two lost half-breed sons.

Ice has been given a mission to find Karen, who was kidnapped. But the only way to find her is to work with Cammy. They are both Hunters but Cammy has a special ability to track down missin persons. Ice has been avoiding Cammy for years because he knows she's been obsessed with Rage. But Rage has a mate now, so Ice's cat is ready to pounce on Cammy. But is she really over Rage?

Cammy always thought she'd end up mating Rage but their was never any real passion between them. Now Rage has a mate. And now Cammy notices that Ice has been staring at her with more than just heat in his eyes. Her cat reacts to him instantly. But Ice is a loner and arrogant. There could never really be anything between them. Right? Regardless of their feelings for each other, they have to work together to find Karen.

The story line in this novella really advances the overall series plot line. We learn more about the enemy and more about what happened to Karen's sons.

REAUX by Laura Wright

This novella picks up right were the first one leaves off. Karen has been rescued and now she has to deal with the information she knows about one of her sons. Seeing a female Healer for therapy is not working for her. Expecially when that healer suggests placing her young son Caleb with another family while she's recovering. To Karen, that's just not acceptable. So when she litterally runs into Reaux, another Healer, and she instantly feels safe with him, she's determined to have him be her therapist.

Reaux doesn't work with single females. It just never works because he's cursed. When a male Pantera shifts into their puma form, they give off a scent that attracts females. But Reaux gives off this scent when he's in human form and all females are naturally attracted to him....but it's not real. So when Karen tells him she's doesn't want him "in that way," he doesn't believe her. The problem he has is that his cat instantly wants to protect her and care for her and her cub....and that's never happened to him before.

I loved this novella. Both Karen and Reaux have to come to terms with their pasts and when they realize that they can be together? It's really quite romantic. This story reveals more about what happened to Karen's two missing sons and with all Pantera's being called back into the Wildlands to prepare to take on Benson Enterprises (the facility experimenting on Panteras and humans), you can't help but want to keep reading this series to see what happens next.

Overall, these two stories were excellent and I can't wait until the next addition to this series!

As these two ladies take your further into this unraveling of the corruption by the ruthless human, you must venture once again into the swamps. They will give you two more reasons to love this home of theirs but it also comes with a price, falling in love with yet more of the characters that live and tell their story. Ice is back to claim his but she does not know it yet. Cammy has a gift that she uses as a Hunter she keeps herself busy but when he is around she avoids him. They are now gathered to hear from their two leaders with things being bigger than they first thought. Everyone is getting called to the Wildlands and its barrier. Soon there will be a disruption with the result is they are paired together to hunt and rescue someone that has been taken during the drama. During this time they also find out more about each other while they are also feeling something that is more than just two Hunters. She realizes this is something she has not felt before. While they race to recover the one that was taken they also race with each other. You will get to find out just if he really is ice or not, or if it just took the right one to start the heat that lay beneath. Cammy will also find out that she had not really felt nothing yet until they connect. Without skipping a beat you see that Reaux will have more to offer the one that is rescued than he even imagined after they bump into each other. Karen is close to the edge and after running out of a session she bumps into Reaux and finds something new, feeling safe. Go with these two after she convinces him she is not just after him in lust as they work together to steady her but also discoveries will be made on both fronts for them both. Thinking that neither would ever find a mate they will be given a opportunity to see how wrong they are, love has a funny way of smacking people with that turn around it would seem when they think that. They will give each other the peace that no one else can. He also will give her some news that will be a bit hard to swallow that the feelings you find yourself trying to comfort her also. This is yet again two more stories that give hope with love found and shared while evil tries to destroy these shifters.

The Bayou Heat stories continue with this installment. I am amazed at these two authors and their ability to keep the story fresh. If you have been following along, you know there is still evil coming for the Pantera. They need to cut off the source at the head in order to hope to survive.

This book is really about Karen. She was one of the brood mares in the laboratory set up by Christopher. She had three sons. All were taken from her at birth but one was still in the lab when she escaped and he came with her to the wildlands. Her journey and her plight are the focus of both stories.

Ice
Ice and Cammy come together to help find Karen and apprehend her kidnapper. As they spend time together, Cammy realizes the torch she has held for her childhood friend does not even come close to the feelings she has when she is with Ice. Ice bravely tells her how he has admired her from afar all these years. They are successful bringing Karen back. They are even more successful at becoming mates!

Reaux
Then we meet Reaux. He is a healer and a counselor within the Pantera community. After her abduction, Karen is anxious and closed up. She won’t talk to the assigned counselor to help her work through her issues. She bumps into Reaux and pours her heart out tear by tear and somehow feels lighter for it. She wants to switch to Reaux as her counselor. Reaux is walking s3x appeal. He exudes male pheromones that make females follow him around and try to get him into bed. Karen just needs a friend. She isn’t interested in him romantically at first. I loved the nurturing side to Reaux. He was so careful with Karen’s feelings and making sure she began the healing process. He was also fantastic with her young cub. If I had to pick the perfect mate for Karen, it would be Reaux. He helped make her whole again.

The stories also give us more insight into what the evil Christopher may have planned for the Pantera. They are no closer to finding him but can at least be more prepared for what is coming. Looking forward to the next installment!

The Ladies have done it again! Another hot read!

The Panteras are still faced with outside enemies with plans on decimating the breed.

In Ice, it is Ice and Cammy’s story. Karen is a human that was rescued from the Benson Enterprises lab where she was used for breeding hybrids. Karen has had three sons which only one, Caleb, was with her when she was rescued. At Wildlands, she began to research the location of her other two sons, Ward and Tate. Even though the Wildlands are protected, someone is able to get pass the security and attack the headquarters and kidnap Karen. Ice and Cammy are hunters and charged with rescuing and bringing her back home. Even though the two hunters have known each other for years, they have an adversarial relationship. Ice believes she is in love with another and Cammy believes he finds her obnoxious. These two must come to an agreement to be able to have a successful rescue. And when they do, the meter is in the red!

In Reaux, it is Reaux’s and Karen’s story. The story begins after Karen is rescued and she is dealing with the after effect of the kidnapping. She is seeking help from a healer to deal with her fears. Reaux is a healer but typically only assist married puma couples resolve their issues. When she meets him she believes he is the only one to help her; she feels safe with him and hopefully he will be able to help her with her fears. He believes she is interested in him due to his pheromones that he uses in his normal counseling with puma couples; he doesn’t take into account that Karen is human and might not be affected. Can she convince him to help her? Are they able to resolve this misunderstanding? As they work through all the misunderstandings, sizzling results!!!

I applaud Alexandra and Laura. Their writing styles are so compatible that one story will flow into the other with no distinction between who wrote which story.
Can’t wait for the next installment, hurry ladies!!!

The ladies did it again! The story is moving along so well, new things are happening, new matings, and a whole new slew of characters, plus some old that we have all grown to love.

ICE

Cammy has always had a "crush" on Raph, the leader of the Pantera, but then Ice comes along.
Ice has noticed Cammy awhile back, but he knew that she was crushing on Raph. So he kept his distance. Then one day one of their own is kidnapped right out of the Wildlands and Cammy and Ice are paired up together to rescue them.
Poor Karen was kidnapped and by whom, you will be shocked to find out or not that shocked. I know I was surprised.
Ice has a very strong attraction to Cammy and wants her with his whole being. Cammy fights it, and fights it right to the end, but of course the attraction is just too strong. Her puma wants Ice just as much as her human side.

Reaux

Karen is going through a real hard time and seeks help from the healers. She can't seem to get over her hurt, betrayal, and captivity. Now that she is free, the emotions want to break out but she does not know how to do that. She is close to going into a breakdown. But she can't for her son. So she seeks help.

Reaux has a "curse" or so he says. He attracts woman without even try. They are drawn to his musk and all want to 'jump his bones.' Karen does not, or so she says.
Karen is very comfortable and connects with Reaux and he is able to help her deal with her emotions and inner turmoil. He connects with her cub and falls in love with her. But he keeps something very important from her and she is devastated.
Karen realizes not too late that she was wrong and knows he had her best interest at heart.
Reaux tries to avoid her but that doesn't last too long. He realizes that she is his mate, but can he convince her that she is?

Both stories have great chemistry between the couples, sizzling scenes that burn up the pages, and the continuation of finding Christopher now that they know about his plans.

I can say that this is my favorite Bayou Heat book as of yet. There was a richness to both stories as the authors revealed a suspenseful twist, a dangerous new threat to all Pantera. Both of the stories were loaded with romance, intrigue, and there was some sadness too. This book was an attention gripper all the way.

ICE : by Alexandra Ivy

The first story is about Ice and Cammy. They’re both after a Hunters but up until now they’ve never been involved romantically. Cammy has finally had to let go of her dreams about Rage, and discovers a new attraction to Ice, who had been distancing himself because of her feelings for the other Hunter. He was jealous and possessive and held himself away from Cammy even though he sensed she was his mate. Understandably, there was some miscommunication and hurt feelings between them. Then an attack leaves the Pantera vulnerable and throws Ice and Cammy together in an important mission. They grow closer as they try to track down someone who was taken during the sneak attack. This first story was loaded with adventure and steamy passion. It was entertaining all the way through.

REAUX : by Laura Wright

The second story involved Reaux and Karen. Karen was falling apart after her latest abduction. She meets Reaux who was a specific kind of Pantera Healer. A sexual therapist with his own baggage. Karen realizes that a sexual healing from Reaux might fix what was broken in her. Suddenly, Reaux finds himself interested in Karen, but he’s not quite sure how to react to his feelings. This second story was filled with drama and bumps in the relationship. Overall, it was a solid storytelling that easily kept me interested.

I enjoyed reading both of these entertaining stories, and most definitely looking forward to the next book in the Bayou Heat series.

Fantastic!!!

Ice:
Action packed and romantic, this read will keep you on the seat of your pants. With surprises around every corner this story is wonderfully exhilarating! Cammy always believed that she would mate with her best friend, Rage, but fate had other plans, now she has to learn to deal with him having a mate that is not her, and her unwanted desire for another Pantera. Ice is an arrogant and aloof Hunter, and has always tried to steer clear of Cammy, but with an attack on the Pantera homeland it will take her special skill set to find those responsible, and Ice will be with her every step of the way. Thrown together on this mission, they will become close, and realize the real reason why they have avoided each other all these years.

Reaux:
Healed by love. This story is beautiful and will make you smile with delight. I adored Reaux and Karen and all that they have been through in their lives. Karen is a human woman who was used as a lab rate and brood mare to brith Pantera hybrids. After escaping twice from captivity she is in desperate need of counseling and guidance, but the one Pantera she wants help from refuses. Reaux was born with an anomaly, he is releases a sexual pheromone that attracts all unattached females. The tables are turned for Reaux with this female though, instead of her being unreasonably attracted to him, it is he who wants her with every fiber of his being. What will the Healer do?

Ice by Alexandra Ivy

Cammy is a talented hunter who always had her sights on Rage. Now that he has chosen another for his mate, she is left wondering what's next. After an attack on the Pantera, she is forced to pair with an annoyingly gorgeous hunter, Ice. He looks at her as if he can't stand to be near her. Can they find a way to work together?

Loved this novella! Ice waited ever so patiently for her to realise Rage wasn't meant for her, then he pounced! The chemistry was great, and the banter was entertaining. Although I do think it ended a little rushed. I found it interesting that a good portion of the book was in Ice's POV.

Reaux by Laura Wright

Karen is breaking down after everything she has been through. Now that she is free, she is becoming aware of the pain and anger deep inside of her. She needs to seek help or they'll take her boy away. She needs Reaux. Reaux's musk is toxic to women- If by toxic you mean an walking aphrodisiac. He doesn't help unmated females for a reason, yet he can't seem to be drawn to this fragile human. How can he maintain a professional relationship when she's all he thinks about?

I loved this one too! (lol) This was a sweet, adorable novella. Their connection and Reaux's bond with Caleb was sweet. I'm glad Karen got a HEA after what she has been through. Curious about who Adrian ends up with.

I honestly can't decide which one I loved more! This is one of my faves I think. They were such sweet yet sexy stories, I couldn't help but smile and laugh whilst reading it!

1) Ice: Cammy is a hunter who has a childhood crush on Rage, but now that he’s mated she needs to move on. And who better to help her than her fellow hunter Ice. They find out on a trip together to rescue one of their new residents who was kidnapped doing a raid on the wildlands. Ice & Cammy are perfect for each other. Too bad they had to wait so long to figure it out. I really liked the scenes between Karen and Ward.

2) Reaux has a special ability that makes him a good couple’s counselor but not so good at finding a mate for himself. So when Karen insists he’s the only one who can help her, he turns her down, or tries to. First off, after insisting that Reaux help her, Karen’s reaction to his text was way off. You’d think she’d be happy he was going the extra step. Also the end of this was little too open ended, not sure what was happening.

Quick Thoughts: 1) These last males are getting better and better. Maybe they’re learning from their friend’s mistakes. After all, guys talk.

2) The story line with Karen’s sons in the two stories are both interesting and bittersweet. As a mom, I’d want to know.

3) I wish they’d be some explanation behind some of the names: (Ice, Rage, Angel, Hiss, etc.)

Fave Scenes: 1) The heavy beam and the escape. 2) Reaux delivering the questionnaire and mud cheeseburgers.

This is the third set of stories in this series to be a big disappointment. I discovered this series and read through the first twelve stories in short order and loved it. Then the quality just seemed to take a nose-dive both in editing and story. The overarching story arc is fine and engaging, but the pairings have not really worked for me. Except for the second story in this set anyway--I really liked Reaux, he was a fascinating character and his story with Karen was the reason I gave this three stars instead of two. I would have liked to see Caleb change in this story, it felt like that thread was built up and it was nice to see Reaux interact with him but then it just gets dropped.

Ice's story just failed for me; aside from the editing issues which are not typical in Alexandra Ivy's other works but I've noticed persistently throughout these stories (proofread, proofread, proofread), the romance just didn't work between him and the h for me. Maybe in a longer story where the idea of her letting go of the future she'd planned with Rage and seeing Ice in a different light could have worked, but in these short story installments there simply wasn't any chemistry between them. At this point I'm not sure I'll continue to read the series; just too disappointing.

With each book this series gets more intense and the plot thickens. I absolutely love this series. It’s fast paced, intriguing and oh so sexy.

Ice
Ice has had an attraction to Cammy for years but she has been blinded by her best friend Rage. Even now that Rage has found his own mate Cammy is still obsessed with him. When Cammy and Ice are thrown together to help rescue one of their own, they will have to work together while fighting their attraction. Cammy is confused about her feelings for the man who has only shown distaste towards her. But that’s the last thing from Ice’s mind. He wants Cammy and not just once, he wants her forever.

Reaux
After being rescued Karen needs help of a healer but the only one that she feels safe and secure in talking to refuses to help her. Reaux has a never felt the connection to another woman like he has with Karen. His curse has prevented him from actually have real feelings for another woman. Reaux and Karen have been through so much pain and loss. Soon Reaux can’t stay away and together they help each other heal and find love.

We're back in the Bayou in the Wildlands where the Pantera live.

Ice ~ Cammy is dealing with not being mated to her best friend and now finds herself teaming up with the aloof gruff Ice. Ice has watched Cammy pine for Rage, but now he finally has his chance. Cammy and Ice work together on a rescue mission where they find more than they bargained for. There is a new threat to the Pantera race and their survival is at stake.

Reaux ~ This was my favorite of the two. Karen has been through a lot being held prison in the labs now have no clue where two of her three children are. She's struggling mentally to survive and be the mom for her little cub. She soon find her an answer to her prayer with Reaux. The cursed Pantera makes her feel the safest, but he doesn't want to take any chances due to the curse he's had all his life. There is just something about Karen and her cub that calls to the Pantera inside him, but the risk worth the reward?

Do not be expecting a full on, complete characterisation and in-depth series. You will not get it. This is not a deep and fully developed world, you glean bits and pieces as you go along, getting to know more characters and situation as things happen. Each story is a follow on, sometimes with a cliff hanger. So I suggest starting at the beginning to best understand the who’s and what’s of this world.
But it is a fun and intriguing series of short stories that slowly develop into a great read.
19 - ICE
Two really likeable characters that have danced around each other for years.
This is due to Ice’s upbringing and the fact Cammy was interested in Rage.
Liked the story itself with a suicide bomber in the Wildlands, Karen being taken and a surprising twist.
20 - REAUX
Karen gets some much needed help.
Loved Reaux and hated how he was treated by the females. Not explained if his musk will stop now he is mated.
Sad about Karen’s eldest son.
